Visited the Frothy this morning for the first & very last time as the cafe is closing. Whilst the cafe was comfortable the coffee wasn’t the best ever tasted and we were stunned at the price! Compared to other coffee houses close by it was surprising; could this be a reason they are not finding it profitable?

I have visited this coffee house many times and have spent hundreds of pounds here over the years as I always like to support local businesses. That being said, on this particular visit I wanted to treat my daughter to some food. This was a big mistake!!! I wanted to order the avocado but they had ran out. There's only a small selection to chose from on the menu so this was strange on a Saturday but these things happen I suppose. But my main reason for the review was down to the really poor service. My daughter ordered the soup. This is her favourite type but the soup was barely edible due to the horrible seasoning. The smell was so strong and over powering and just tasted of seasoning i also tried the soup and it was shocking. It's the first time I've seen my daughter leave soup so it was really disappointing. When I raised this I was told that the soup was fine and they way its always made which is extremely hard to believe. I was told the staff had this and saw no issues with it. No care, no apology, nothing. it was £7 for a bowl of soup and 2.50 for bread which is already ridiculously high priced but you don't mind paying for quality but this was far from that. Sad that the service is so poor here as it could be a great place to go. When people can't take criticism then they don't improve and looking at other reviews here it shows that the service needs to improve.. The Sad thing was that I chose this place over 3 or 4 other quality places in town so kicking myself now.

I'm a huge fan of the amazing soups that this cafe does. Each day there's a different vegan soup served with a chunky slice of bread. The coffee is absolutely outstanding too and there are guest coffees for the true coffee connoisseur. Lovely people too.

Lovely airy venue, one halloumi and one goats cheese ciabatta ordered - both delicious with a very tasty coleslaw. Also had two smoothies which were fabulous. Coffee afterwards was excellent. Highly recommended if you are in Dumfries.

Best smoked salmon bagel in years. Excellent skinny lattes. Helps that the weather was cracking and the view across white sands area to river was lovely. Will be back.

What a fantastic guy that owns this place. Bought a new bike pump from an online retailer for my trip to Drumlanrig Castle and it was faulty. He lent me his personal pump so I could enjoy the trails for the weekend. Definitely visiting this cafe next time I am in Dumfries as I am sure the food / drinks will be as classy as the owner. Many thanks once again!

The staff were very pleasant and the food was lovely. Make sure you look at the menu before you arrive as not to be disappointed when you fancy a fry up as you won’t get one. I fancied a bagel for my 10 o’clocks and loved it.

Although I have passed this cafe many times I was unaware of the interesting menu inside, so perhaps a menu in the window? I had a bagel with salmon etc though I think any other item would have been equally welcome. The staff were very efficient and friendly as well as being remarkably young! I will be back to try some of the other choices but I have one suggestion, it would possibly be an advantage to finish the meal/snack with something fruity!

Visited recently as a wee change but found the menu very limited. Staff were pleasant and attentive. No cooked rolls as is bacon, sausage, egg maybe we are old fashioned but we were all disappointed. Coffee was ok but not very hot. Scone was mahoosive but your charged for butter and jam, cheeky. So all in all not a successful visit and will vote with my feet.

Poor service let the good food down. Sat at a table with no acknowledgement that we were waiting whilst staff carried out other tasks, and the servers were very brusque when they finally did come over. V expensive food but it was tasty and freshly made, but the menu is fairly limited. Wouldn’t rush back.

We, as a family, love Frothy. My wife sneaks in on a Friday for a coffee and scone with the youngest and happily returns with me and the oldest the next day. Great coffee, superb scones and a good vibe. Just what Dumfries needs!

Lovely coffee and cake. Great view across the river. The Portuguese custard tart was amazing. Our party also liked the brownie and the Toffee Crisp slice. The Americano was rich and flavourful. Industrial style decor, everywhere very clean.

Friendly, relaxed, flexible and fun. Nick was a brilliant teacher and good company. Took Mother for some quality time together and she was immediately put at ease and we both had a lovely time. Will definitely go again. If you want quality experiences with friends and family AND you want to learn some great life skills to boot then book your place!

I go here regularly for a carvery as it is one of the best I have been to. I am a very fussy eater and to find a carvery that serves chicken as an option is surprising difficult. The three meats to choose from are usually chicken, beef and gammon/ham. The veg/side options usually include cauliflower cheese, broccoli, carrots, Yorkshire pudding, cocktail sausages and stuffing, but the roast tatties are my favourite part of the meal! You are limited to going up to fill your plate only once but I usually leave feeling very full. Sometimes I have soup as a starter as well depending on what kind it is. I highly recommend giving the carvery a go for anyone who is a fan of a good roast!

This cafe served the worst scone I have ever had / didn't have. (and that's saying something as I'm in my 70s and have had a few in my time. You could build a house with a few of them. Inedible expensive rubbish. It came in a paper bag, no plate and a wooden disposable knife which struggled to cut it. The coffee was served in a paper cup. But was drinkable. Cost over £13 for two coffees and two inedible scones. I am disgusted and will definitely won't be back
