Arrived just after they'd closed for the evening - staff happily opened the door & offered me the last pirtion of chips! After a solid evening of mountainbiking, that was just what I needed! ☆☆☆☆☆ service, with a smile! Highly recommended 😃

Just passing through… grabbed some lunch to go… Oh My Gosh Best Fish and Chips in ages … like nearly the best ever… maybe even .. How do you make that batter on the fish taste so crisp delicious and not oily and fatty at the same time? Tasted like a work of art… we would’ve come back and said thank you and told you, but we had moved down the road a bit…. But blumming delicious… Well done guys keep doing that… And cardboard trays, environmentally kind thumbs up five stars… And thank you

I've used the Friary for 4 years now, it has its ups and downs. I'm only writing this because I was so appalled by my 'jumbo fish supper ' I bought on Tuesday 1st April. I know fish I come from East Neuk of Fife, we know our fish. Firstly the fish was rubbery, it had been frozen. Secondly the batter was dried and hard and awful. Into the bin. Now this opposite to 2 weeks before that, where I purchased the same order, travelled the same distance home and it was absolutely delicious. Having told you about a failure I want to say the staff are lovely, helpful and smiling.

Lovely food, really friendly helpful service, so many smiles from the staff, who were so busy at Saturday teatime, was really lovely to see. Great coffee too and chips cooked in sunflower oil 🌻 It was all amazing, especially after a hard day's walking. Keep up the good work.

Ordered 3 small chips. Very tasty and would definitely travel here for a day out just for some more! Perfectly cooked, not greasy and good portion size.

Absolutely delicious fish and chips! I ordered the scampi & chips, deep-fried pizza, a side of mushy peas, and it blew my mind! They also have homemade tartar sauce and garlic mayo dips for purchase that are a MUST for your meal! The staff were all so friendly and kind as well.

My wife Kate and I went in this wonderful Fish and Chip shop in Beauly yesterday (Friday 25th October 2024). We were greeted by a delightful lady with a big smile and a nice welcome. The Fish and Chips and in Kate's case Haggis and Chips were delicious. This delightful lady is called Hannah and she runs the Friary in Beauly. We will definitely go back for more when we are next in the area.

Found in the square in Beauly just outside Inverness on the NC500 - a small family run chip shop - very friendly - fresh fish and good menu of other options. Can be busy and worth calling ahead of time. Best chip shop and friendliest of staff for miles

Excellent wee chippy. I come regularly and the place is fantastic. The new manager there is doing a great job, is so friendly and knows her stuff. The food is first class and very reasonably priced.

To be fair, both the fish and the chips were hot, well-cooked and tasted fresh. However, what self-respecting chippy charges extra for ketchup?!

This is a takeout only fish and Chip shop. Delicious with a choice between battered or breaded. We tried both and thought it was great. Friendly staff, quick service and great food.

Very small shop with delicious fish & chips, we had a little difficulty communicating, the vinegar thing didn't work, our sauce was missing, but the rest was great. Clear recommendation.

Highly recommend The Friary, have been coming here for years and the food has always been consistently great. My only complaint is sometimes it's difficult to get through on the phone, but this is simply due to them being very busy!

Super adresse recommandée par notre guest house. C'est trop trop bon. Le haddock est frais et la panure est excellente. C’est de loin le meilleur fish & chips que j'ai mangé. Petite glace chocolat caramel en dessert et pareil c’était vraiment bon. Le caissier a su nous expliquer la différence entre battered et breaded et a été patient avec nous. Service très rapide. Dommage que Beauly soit aussi loin de Paris ☺️

Used to enjoy the food and service from here, but for some reason the standards have slipped. Tried several times in last few months to phone in an order, but they appear to be ignoring the phone, so you have to go done and wait and they aren't quick. The food isn't so great these days either, last fish supper I got was overcooked. Come back Jackie, all's forgiven.

A great fish and chip shop. Fish and chips were excellent but I wish I had ordered the fish supper as the portion wasn't too big. Very tasty all the same. If you can phone your order through as it does get busy.

Stopped in on Thursday after seeing photos of the friary hoagies on fb. Nice and hot and didn’t take long to cook, will be back for more. Piri chicken fillings were great with plenty inside the wrap :)

It’s a shame this was a very good chippy but the last six months the standard of food has gone down! Thought we would give benefit of the doubt and try again tonight and it’s still bad! Food tastes cheap and not cooked correctly. Shame they shouldn’t have changed anything as it was so good before !! I can’t fault the customer service as it’s always at a high standard shame about the food!

Hands down, one of the best chippies in Scotland. Compared to some award winning shops this one is up there and possibly better. Couldn't recommend them any less than I do!

The freshest, crispiest beautifully cooked fish & chips cooked to order 😊 no food is ever sat around keeping warm and you can really tell. Very reasonably priced and big portion size. Smaller portion suppers are also available for those who eat less 😃 Have never spoken with the owner but all your staff members are a real credit to you and some of the friendliest people around! Lovely fish and chips anytime we visit. Its a decent spot if you just want ice cream too as they have a variety of flavours .

Bought two large fish suppers and a mushy peas, there were no peas in the bag when I got home for starters. We have eaten here many times over the years, the chunky fish has become very thin and very disappointing. Such a shame, my wife’s fish was the same as mine unfortunately. I’m really disappointed as I was looking forward to fish and chips.

We had a fab chippie tonight from the Friary. We were lucky to try the waffles which were amazing. The fish was lovely, and the kids loved their sausage supper. Thanks everyone for a friendly welcome and a super meal. 👌

Used to go there for years but it went badly downhill. Went there this year to see if its any better and had the best fish I've ever had from a chippy. Excellent all round, thoroughly recommended.

I come to Beauly at least once or twice a month purely to visit The Friary. I live in Inverness. I can honestly say hand on heart that this is the best Chippie I have ever eaten from in the Highlands! I also go to one in Nairn but still feel this one in Beauly is worth the drive. Not only is the food amazing but the staff who are always so busy never fail to smile, give you eye contact and even ask how you are doing. Gutted I haven't taken any pictures yet ...I keep forgetting but I promise to post some on the nxt visit. If you have never been and you are visiting the Highlands definitely go for a visit! My favourite is the Macaroni Pie Supper! Cheesy and Scrummy! Chips are always on point and cooked to perfection with a wee crispy feel to them here and there. Well done to an amazing bunch of people running it. You guys are smashing it out if the Park. My personal opinion and have visited many Fish and Chip shops on my travels. Mxx

Looking for a takeaway after weekend at belladrum. I was recommended to try this local chip shop and was not disappointed. I had the king rib supper and it was cooked to perfection, lovely crispy batter and cooked from fresh by a lovely young lady. Friendly staff. Can’t fault the place and definitely will be back. Great value for money. Highly recommend.

Happy little place hidden away in beautiful Beauly, My family and I were in a couple nights ago as we were passing through Beauly on our travels and the smell of the chips were drawing us in. The staff are very helpful with explaining what there all is to order, they explained that they have 3!! different fish sizes we were blown away we ordered 2 standard fish and chips along with a small fish and chips for our son which only came to £23.60 for fish which may I add is cooked fresh to order AMAZING!! Beautifully cooked batter along with crispy chips with a lovely soft inside. We highly highly recommend this place for Family, Friends, Couples and many more.

I can't praise this chip shop highly enough. We visited on the first night of our North Coast 500 trip and enjoyed it so much we returned on the last night. I can highly recommend the black pudding and white pudding suppers.

Great little chippy. The food is cooked to order so you need to wait 5 or so minutes for it to be ready but it is worth it (definitely better than pre-cooked stuff that’s been kept warm). Plenty of parking just outside.

Saturday night, due to the lockdown Inverness had limited chip shops open, heard the friary in Beauly was open so broke the law and travelled to Beauly because on previous occasions it had been worth the trip had two fish suppers and a curry sauce, it was well worth the trip, as it was the best fish and chips we have had in ages. Called in to the Friary the other day for tea. Fish supper and scampi suppers were both delicious. Good value for money too.

The jumbo fish was a disappointment and certainly wasn’t worth paying the extra money for it (£9.30). I ordered battered chicken fillets thinking they would freshly made and covered with fish shop batter. I received 5 pieces of dry, chewy chicken nuggets. Certainly not worth £7.50 for a supper.

Ordered a fish supper advertised as a sustainable Atlantic haddock at £8.00+ sorry to say found it disappointing both in terms of the quality of the fish which I suspect was frozen and the cost which is far more expensive than I would usually pay at home.

The staff here kindly made up gluten free batter for me while it was quiet, even though it wasn’t their night to do it. Very kind gesture, and very accommodating. The fish was as fresh as you like, really good. We will be back. Thank you The Friary!

The chips were hard and dry,,the fish was also dry, tartare sauce not nice. Scampi and sausage ok. The young assistant, obviously had a cold cos she kept rubbing her nose.
