3 stars for being open when no one else is. Another 2 stars for fresh cooked grub and good side sauces.

Got fish and chips last night. Has to be the worst ever. Have used a few times, but this is the last. Day before chips reheated I would suggest. Full of rotten chips and fish really greasy. Truly dire

Stopped on the way home for chippies, Hubby liked his food, Sausage and Chips, hot and tasty he said.

Absolutely love this place,dog friendly and staff are helpful and friendly and polite can't wait till October to go again

First time going in there after being recommended. This is a busy chippy so expect a wait. My chips were rather brown not really golden and portion size for a large chips was well lacking. The batter they make is beautifully crunchy but does need a bit longer resting when cooked to remove the grease. All in all I would say an average chippy. Although I will state that customers have stated they do travel a bit for there fish (we didn't try it, we fancied something different).

Good location, reasonably priced chip shop. The food was good: delicious black pudding, haddock and chips, chicken burger. Nice and friendly staff.

Consistently great chipshop food. Great milkshakes, and a unique slushi - ice-cream spider/float. Spot on service; both eat in and take out. Nice rustic atmosphere with several large tables and bench-bar seating

Served by literal children- no older than my 14 year old , very slow service- served everyone who came in behind me first because they were locals, food was horrible at best- 2 small pieces of old tasting greasy fish, the chips taste.. weird? I'm not even quite sure how to describe it other than weird tasting and bad- all the good reviews are from locals who have clearly never had a decent fish and chips- and the cherry on top was a long hair in the box. NO HAIRNETS IN SIGHT.

Proper fish n chips. As someone who's last real (UK) fish and chips was in the 80's, I really enjoyed ordering the proper meal with all the trimmings. Yum!

Wouldn't rate tbh. Took 25mins to get a sausage supper to take away and wasn't amazing.

Got a kebab and chips from the special board ,kebab burnt chips great sweet chili sauce saved it slightly. The Kebab hadn't even slept with a kebab .

Simply the best fish supper I've had in years. It was all very tasty, cooked to order and reasonably priced. Loved the wee tubs of mushy peas and curry sauce!

Found by accident as we were in the area, but so glad we did stop in. Has seating area inside as well as the takeaway. Food was fresh and made to order, not as much choice on the menu as other chippies I've been to, but was more than enough for us and the quality was brilliant. Will keep in mind for next time we're back in the area.

Passing through Kingussie and called in to Joe's The Chippy on the corner. I can honestly say they're lovely fish and chips. Asked for extra well done and they were just right.😋 And I'm fussy when it comes to my F&C's 🙃 So if you're wondering whether to give em a try...DO! The girl serving was very pleasant too, which is saying something these days. Go on, try them...you know you want to! 🤗

Fish and chips last week and the quality was simply stunning. I had seen this place for some time but for some reason had not been before. It's a great setting nice places to sit and relax while getting your meal. The fish was top quality up there with the best in Scotland such as Moray coast, Banffshire and Fish market in Edinburgh. Chips great as well and lovely presentation. Essentially they really exceeded (already high) expectations which is such a great experience. So thoroughly recommended.

Nice freshking supper cooked to order. There were a few tables and chairs to sit in which meant we didn't have to eat in the car which is a bonus. Service could have been slightly quicker but then again food hadn't been kept warm for hours or reheated.

Chips were a bit soggy but the fish was perfectly cooked. Service was fast and price was good.

Had the breaded/special fish with chips. Best fish and chips I've had in Scotland. Really outstanding. This was last summer on the way home from a camping trip in the Cairngorms and what a treat it was too! As soon as we walked in, we could tell from the smell of the place that they were using very clean and good quality oil in their fryer. The fish was top notch, very fresh and moist, in generous fillets. Perfectly cooked with the just the right amount of golden brown crispy breadcrumb coating to make it extra special. The chips were also cooked to perfection, very nice and crispy. Not a soggy chip in sight here. Simple but exceptionally good food: the best kind.

Stopped in for dinner, as hotel stopped food early ( work nights ) staff were near closing but served fresh food for us and the shop was very clean and felt like home. Lovely place to stop for food. Would recommend here to friends and anyone

Haddock 'supper' (Scottish way of saying WITH CHIPS) was great value, chips were nice and crispy and plenty of them, Haddock had the usual Scottish thin type of batter. Staff were polite and friendly. Would Definitely Recommend Joe's Chippy to anyone passing Kingussie on the A9, a short detour and a full belly for less than £10

Good chippy stop of on the way up the A9. They have tables so you can eat in and have a break.

Recommended fish & chips for good price/value. We loved the special haddock that made the dish even crispier but also normal one was good. We think there is room for improvement for the fries but overall a good meal.

Some of the best fish and chips I've had. Not dripping in oil, nice and crisp, cheap. Very clean and good service. Came here by happenstance as all restaurants were all booked up without leaving us many options. But the haddock and chips were so top notch that my group couldn't wish for anything else. For the vegans and veggies out there, we saw a vegan "fish" option and a veggie burger, though we didn't have those.

Das Essen war gut, Fast Food Lokal. Leider war die weibliche Bedienung extrem stur und abweisend. Wir sind Touristen und sehr froh, dass wir in den letzten zwei Wochen viele äußerst freundliche Schotten getroffen haben. Vielleicht sagt man der jungen Dame mal, wie freundlicher Service aussieht.

Eines der wenigen Lokale in Kingussie. Für einen Fish-and-Chips-Shop typisch minimalistische Einrichtung, im Vergleich aber schon wieder stilvoll und modern. Es gibt auch Burger in allen Variationen, sogar vegane. Ca. 15-20 Plätze zum Verzehr vor Ort. Gut nachgefragt. Gutes Essen. Leider nur eine Sorte Fisch (Haddock). Nettes Personal.

Bought white pudding supper ,scampi supper and regular chips .chips were well over done and scampi wasn’t that nice.white pudding was nice.lots of chips were so crunchie they were not eaten .won’t be back I’m afraid.will be aviemore from now on as we usually do but daughter said she always goes to joes so thought I’d give it a try.very disappointed

Our takeaway of fish, scampi and sausage options was good, cooked fresh. Very clean and modern.

Excellent chippy! We popped in here for something to eat on holiday and really enjoyed it. You can sit in or take away. The food was cooked fresh and really really good. The chips were fantastic, really well cooked and crispy. And the curry sauce is delicious!

Really great chippy, we had the fish and chips and smoked sausage, all were some of the best we've had in Scotland. They were made fresh and very quickly, plenty of space to dine in too, service was excellent.

Joe's ist ein typischer Fish & Chips - Laden mit einigen Sitzgelegenheiten drinnen und zwei kleinen Tischen draußen. Wer Müll vermeiden möchte wählt am besten "sit in", dann bekommt man Fisch und Pommes in einem Körbchen und mit Metallbesteck serviert. 🙂🍽 Der Service ist freundlich und zuvorkommend. Ich hatte heute Fish & Chips (Standard-Portion für aktuell 9,60 £, was preislich nicht zu teuer ist), es werden aber auch noch andere frittierte Sachen (darunter auch der berüchtigte Marsriegel) sowie Burger und vegetarische Varianten angeboten. Insgesamt empfehlenswerter Schnellimbiss mit einer leckeren Ausgabe von Großbritanniens Nationalgericht.

Blown away by this clean and fresh chippy. Service from the young lad at the till would put 90% of adults to Shame. The food was absolutely perfect. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Stopped here on our way to Loch Ness. Good chicken nuggets and fish n chips. Very reasonably priced too. Staff was helpful in answering our questions.

I had a single fish and it was fresh and cooked to order. It was delicious and the best battered fish I have had in a long time. The batter was crispy and thick the way I like it and the fish very meaty. It is cooked in clean oil. Where I am from in Glasgow, there are so many chippies I cannot eat from as they dont change the oil frequently and the fish and chips have a funly, rancid taste because of it. Joe's Chippy in Kingussie sure know how to make great a quality fish and clean oil and great fish batter. I recommend it to anyone who is visiting the area.

On holiday and was really looking forward to a Haggis supper. The haggis was a good size, that’s where the positives end. The batter was soggy and chewy and the chips were the same. I ordered onion rings and they were cooked fresh and still only just warm. Also the onion rings were cheap frozen stuff that was £3 for 7. You can get betters in Aldi freezer aisle. My advice is don’t bother.

Love the cheese burger and the Milk shakes. I have recently tired the full on Burger and they are just to die for. I always by in pairs because with one it's not enough.

Service was a little slow as had other locals come in after me and leave before me but ordered the same thing. However the haggis supper was 10 stars once I got it.

Average. Fish was dry and batter was bit soggy. Chips were awful.

A nice enough place but unfortunately over cooked fish and chips with quite a lot of oil (as some other reviews have said). £9.20 was the same price for takeaway or eating in, making the latter seem relatively good value. They have a customer toilet (unmarked door at back) which is useful.

Nothing special TBH, chips undercooked & soggy, burger wasn't the best tasted a bit cheap. There's a nicer burger joint in Aviemore up the road.

My mum had kebab and chips there was hard but pieces of kebab that she could not eat the chips were a grey colour and not very nice I had pie and chips I could not eat all the pie as it was over fried and hard my chips were also grey and not nice I would not go back

Tried here last nite for first time had a sausage super and a burger super.. i felt like i had spilt a bottle of oil on and in me it was that greezy. chips were brown and dry tastless im shocked that it came to around 20 pound expensive, greezy and tastless never again what a waste of 20 pound

Great chips and if their red pudding (I'd never heard of it!) is anything to go by, the rest should be decent too.

Not great by any means, paid £10 for a supper that only took up half of their small box. Chips were mediocre at best and the fish wasn't great either, wouldn't recommend.

Some people seem to like thin, limp batter around suspiciously triangular fish, and chips that are cooked only once, till they are brown and practically burned. If you want crispy, fluffy, light batter around fish of a more natural shape, and chips that have been cooked properly, go elsewhere. Extra star for pleasant service and plastic free packaging, but would have been one star for food.

Had chips, and fish from here a couple of times and not been disappointed. Polite friendly and clean.

I have taken away from at Joe’s as that’s very delicious. The fish and chips shop is very cleanest and nice atmosphere.

Ordered 2 fish and chips,one with mushie pea's,one with curry,chose to eat in,both fish were overcooked and dried out,chips were greasy,pea's were like a soup with no taste,the curry watery,came in cardboard boxes and wooden sticks/ forks,we ate about 10 percent of it and the rest went into the bin,a member of staff watched us disposed of our food into the bin,but nothing was asked of us, absolute discussing,waste of our time and money, should have kept on driving to Inverness,will never stop there again.
