Maybe it’s a area thing ,felt we were slightly not wanted but then service warmed up and was great ,we do ask lots of unnecessary questions and it might get on some peoples nerves so we don’t mind really . Ordered a child’s meal for the misses and nearly got toy with it as well haha. Nice chips and fish cakes others had sausage fish also curry sauce is a must . Very British fish an chips in the motor during a storm , great holiday feel and alright price not even a tender for mine. Will return

There don't seem to be many fish and chip shops around Fort William but this was the best rated so I thought I'd give it a try. Overall it was pretty good. The fish (haddock) was tasty - a decent size and crispy, it was cooked fresh to order. The chips were average; not a great amount of flavour and I would have expected a few more. Price was on the higher side but not too bad. They also have a sweet shop on site with a good selection. Parking outside was free.

Food is OK, came here while visiting fort william and had haddock and sausage and chips The haddock was the best sized piece of haddock I've had in a long time and the batter was tasty, Curry sauce did not taste like curry sauce still can't work out exactly what it tates off to be honest but it certaiy wasn't curry!!!! Sausage was not warm, And the servi e wasn't brillent but overall didn't go hungry so that's a bonus,

Arrived at 9.20 and they close at 9.30. They cooked me fresh fish and it was lovely.staff were very good and nothing was a bother to them.thank you and keep up the good work

Had a scotch pie supper from here and it was horrible they used to be best in fort willam but have went down hill since Sammy left which is a shame

Been gong here for the past two years and always got a batttered burger and let me tell you flawless. I enjoy every bite I take from their burgers

I've had to amend my review, it's under new management. it's food is still cooked really well and the service is friendly but 3 times I have driven from Loch Linnie caravan site only to find it is closed when online it states that it is open, very disappointing. Its got 2 stars because the food is nice if its open.

Freshly cooked Haddock in a delicious batter, perfectly done. 1 Large chips does two adults easily, and they're really good. Curry sauce is quite runny and a little pricey compared to everything else on the menu, but it does taste good. Definitely seems to be a local favourite.

Busy Friday night but service was good from friendly staff. Two fresh and perfectly cooked fish suppers wolfed down in jig time. One each!

This has to the the best chippy in Scotland, I came here 10 years ago and remembered how good they were, they haven't changed, we'll done for keeping the same standard, absolutely beautiful chips, gorgeous fish in crispy batter, cannot fault it at all, don't drive through Caol without going here,

Was staying in Fort William and saw Sammy's was recommended for its gluten free options. I travelled over and was not disapointed. They put the seperate fryer on for me and did a delicious gluten free fish and chips, certainly one of the nicest I've had. Thank you for the great service!

Wir waren uns unsicher, ob wir es überhaupt versuchen sollten aufgrund der unterschiedlichen Bewertungen, aber man denkt sich: die Locals mögen es. Wurden leider enttäuscht- lohnt sich nicht. Der Fisch wurde warmgehalten, die Chips waren lasch und haben nach altem Fett geschmeckt (leider komplett ohne Salz und Essig, obwohl es eigentlich drauf war, hat man kaum geschmeckt) Erspart es euch :)

Sorry, but not massively impressed. The pies are small, not many chips for the money, and the gravy was thin.

Used to be best chip shop in Fort William by far, but since it was sold it's gone down hill. The fish supper was actuall OK but black pudding seems to be much smaller and tasted very odd. Don't think it's just me, shop seems to be much quieter so looks like the locals feel the same.

We both had cheese burger suppers, chips were ok, cheese burgers were very poor, and had no cheese in them, despite asking for cheese burgers, had better at macdonalds, this one excellent award winning chippy has certainly gone down hill,

Absolutely delicious fish, chips and mushy peas and the kindest most helpful and friendly staff. Definitely recommend, the fish was so tasty and the batter crunchy yet melt in the mouth. Portions perfect. We're so thankful we found this gem! If we lived here I'd be in here regularly.

Amazing chippy, if only my village chippy was this good, I'd be in food heaven, but after a 300 Mile journey from Bolton with a red pudding supper on my mind and my hubby after decent fish our prayers were answered, lovely staff the best chips and light crispy batter not greasy, delicious, we will be back. We found Sammys accidentally and so glad we did.

Avg. The fish was a bit soggy in the box. Nothing is cooked to order so that might be why chips were pretty stale and not nice. Smoked sausage was ok. It was ok. But I've surely had better. I'd probably try a different place next time.

the haggis was good , fish and chips werent bad but they werent battered enough , the pizza on the other hand was burnt , hard as a rock and inedible i nearly broke a tooth eating a few slices

A welcome find near to Ben Nevis holiday park. Delicious fish and chips and as a bonus the takeaway also has a sweet ship counter. We bought a couple of tubs of very tasty sweets and good value too.

We had gluten free fish and chips and they were soo good!!! They have a separate fryer and they were very careful to prevent cross contamination with gluten. 100% recommend

£28 for two sausage suppers and one chips and scampi...not only was the food expensive, the service was terrible... one older women on the fryer and a bunch of kids on the tills who looked like they had just been told off? The atmosphere was as awful as the dried up sausages...

Last night in Fort William and decided on a takeaway. Thought we'd give Sammy's a go as it was only 8 minutes from where we were staying. Not disappointed, haddock and chips supper boxes were excellent as was the battered sausage. The box kept the batter and chips crisp. All freshly prepared. Proper traditional chippy.

I lived next to Sammy’s shop for a week and saw people queuing up in abundance at the fish and chips shop, so I decided to try it and it was a very tasty experience with a very friendly and cheerful staff. I wish them the best. The fish is very tasty, fresh and delicious, and the quantity is large.

It's not a BAD place, but i personally felt it didn't live up to the hype and reviews online. Perhaps my local chippy isn't too bad after all. 🤔 Don't let my opinion put you off though.

Absolutely foul. I really don't know how the reviews are so high. Went based on that. I would rather of starved if this was the only place to eat knowing now and having bought from here. The fat needed changing black soot on the chips at first we thought they'd put pepper on the chips. It smelt awful and the sausage was rubbery. If I could give zero stars I would of done . I even took a photo it was so bad.

Friendly local take away fish and chips in a smaller part of town. Recommended by our Airbnb host. Inexpensive too! If you want a restaurant experience this is not the place. If you prefer to do things like the locals then come here!

Sammy chipshop is OPEN. just visited on Sunday, got a lovely fish supper. And a decent price to boot. I travel for work, I can assure you, good food served here.

It's not my local chipper but still very good, 8 out of 10, it would have got a 9 if it wasn't for so many bones in the fish. Would go again though 👍

We really enjoyed our fish and chips or sausage and chips! We rang ahead due to gluten free and staff were extremely warm, friendly and helpful. All items were piping hot and high quality including excellent gluten free fish. Very handy for Neptune’s ladder fish supper. Recommend!

Not being a dine in place, we got take away! After an afternoon at the beach, on the drive out, we came right out at this chippy. Happenstance? Serendipity? Regardless, we went to Sammy's. Having a 3 year old with us who is fussy on food, we got fish and chips for the adults, and a jumbo hotdog for the 3 yr old! He damn near ate the whole hot dog! Success! And the fish and chips were great too! All's well that ends well!

Unfortunately unable to enjoy the food. Fish was full of bones, barely edible. Found ‘uncooked’ chicken in the chicken curry- the chips were ok. The service was also poor as they couldn’t work out what they were selling. Won’t be going back

Wir waren pünktlich zur Öffnungszeit hier. Bestimmt 10 Einheimische mit uns. Wir bestellten Fish and Chips und haben das vor Ort auf einer Parkbank gegessen. Während des ganzen Verzehrs war der Laden nicht ein einziges Mal ohne Kundschaft. Geschmacklich war nichts auszusetzen aber auch kein Highlight.

Wir waren vor Geschäftsbeginn hier. Kein Mensch weit und breit, trotzdem beschlossen wir zu warten. Pünktlich zur Öffnungszeit wurde plötzlich der Parkplatz sehr voll und alle stürmten in den Laden. Wir auch. Fish and Chips bestellt und noch vor Ort auf einer Parkbank sitzend gegessen. Es war lecker. Knusprige Panade und der Fisch durch aber noch saftig. Die Pommes sehr große Stücke, aber ok und sehr lecker. Bis wir fertig gegessen hatten war der Laden nicht einmal ohne Kundschaft. Wer lecker Fish and Chips essen möchte, ist hier genau richtig.

Found this on our drive back home to Edinburgh after a trip to the beach. Amazing fish supper! Not too greasy, large portion, delicious and well priced. Not too long to wait as well. Rarely write reviews but it really was great fish and chips. Highly recommend.

Excellent in every way. Fish and chips were delicious, with large portion sizes. Gluten free was excellent. My wife hasn't eaten fish and chips for close to ten years since being diagnosed celiac - described it as 'heavenly'. In fact we came here because of the reputation for good gluten-free fish and chips, and that proved to be the case. Possibly the best fish and chips we've all ever had. Friendly owner and staff made it even better. Clearly they take pride in their work, and it shows. Definitely can highly recommend.

Not very good frozen fish when they can get some fresh fish, cold food not hot enough

Being from a coastal town I know an excellent fish and chips and this was certainly one. Enormous beautifully presented portions.Lovely haddock with crisp batter and tasty chips. Excellent service from really pleasant staff. Thank you after a 300 mile drive perfect meal.

Convenient, use for work food available 24/7 not fine Dining, but good and available when I need it!! Staff very accomodating room comfortable and made to feel.welcome! I stop regularly and take my collie suppprt dog with me, they provide a bed and a bowl, and put in a toy. This is really good and makes life so much easier and less stressful when working away from home, thank you very much.

Fantastic chippy, I had gluten free fish and chips and my partner has fish cakes both were delicious. Owner also very knowledgeable on gluten free and celiac which as someone who's recently diagnosed is a god send. Definitely will return her next time I'm passing.

Lovely fish and chips to finish off our Scottish adventure. I arrived and there was a queue outside, always a good sign. A friendly atmosphere and the food was great, excellent portion size and tasted really fresh. Definitely not just a tourist spot but a local business delivering it's best to every customer.

After spending all day going up and down Ben Nevis, I was craving for fish and chips. Excellent quality and reasonable priced. There is as well a large list with a lot of stuff, all of them looking fresh and tasty. Nice service provided by the young staff, the gentleman who probably is the owner, was very patient and kind to explain me the menu which helped me to make the best choice. Thank you!

We all got shouted at by an aggressive old gammon because we went to co-op for a few minutes instead of waiting in the hot, crowded, noisy, smelly shop or stood in a car park on a really humid August day. Fish was fantastic, enjoyed the haggis, chips are mid. Reasonably priced.

We came here thinking it’s going to be a good treat based on the recommendation of our host however, we were deeply disappointed. The fish was not freshly made which meant it’s oily and the meat is dry. On the other hand the chips were good.

£18 for 2 scabby sausage suppers with 2 curry sauce and 2 cokes, absolutely disgusting sausage was dry and there was only about 10 chips best part of the meal was throwing it in the bin after trying the sausage
