Having grown up in Paris, I am very particular when it comes to pâtisserie. Each time I dare to raise my hopes, I am invariably let down. But not yesterday at the French Tarte in Teddington. The Pear & Almond tart is a classic and this did not disappoint; it was skillfully executed, nice to look at, and very good. The Chocolate Tart I eyed with suspicion as it looked like it could be dense and unpleasant. I could not have been more wrong. The first mouthful brought an extraordinary burst of perfect chocolate pleasure. The baguette was equally good - nice crust and chewy crumb. After 26 years in the UK, I think I have finally found a little piece of home. Merci!

Always great for cofee and delicious cakes in here. The Almond crossaints are amazing and they do coffee really well. The staff used to be a bit moody but all seems well right now. Definietly worth visiting

A lovely, friendly and intimate patisserie. Best coffee in Teddington - and we're picky! We often treat ourselves to the pear & almond tarte - moist and it doesn't scrimp on pear for flavour. Roberto's Italian flair, warmth and impeccable customer service adds to the Tarte's charm.

We ordered a pear and almond tart and a piece of cranberry, fig and almond cake. Both looked enticing. They , however, were rather flavourless and very disappointing. We will not be buying cakes from this shop again.

I visited around 2pm on a weekday, and had no trouble finding a table. It filled up quickly, though. I'm a bit picky about my cakes, but there were plenty of appetizing options. I chose the carrot cake, and it was delicious - moist with a very light frosting. My tea was loose leaf, and I was given a tea strainer. I would love to return.

Delightful and friendly staff, best coffee in the area, and cakes and pastries cannot be bettered and light lunch offerings delicious. For those comments on not being baked on the premises they probably haven't actually been to the cafe as it is very obvious there isn't the facility to do so, and if one thought to ask you would then know all baking for the cafe is done at their sister cafe in Surbiton.

Arrived in Teddington a little early for an appointment so popped into this charming little French café. Quite small with about 8 tables inside and a few outside. Nice choice of beverages and lovely cakes, tartes etc. They have a small selection of breakfast items which can be purchased all day. Staff very pleasant. Reasonably priced as well. Nice listening to the music reminded me of my travels through France 2 years ago. Will come back again.

Went for a quick coffee break with my girlfriend as we were waiting for someone. I had a latte and she had a hot chocolate, and we shared a sausage roll. The latte was warm and milky and nicely presented, and the sausage roll was beautifully cooked with chestnuts and flaky pastry. The staff were friendly and helpful; only niggles were that it was very cold inside which was attributed to the door constantly being opened. Also a little expensive but would definitely recommend as an alternative to the Starbucks across the road.

Cannot recommend this place enough. I prebooked afternoon tea for a baby shower and it was delicious. The cakes were delicious and so beautifully presented. Not a boring sandwich in sight....we had Brie and walnut, goats cheese and pepper, mozzarella, tomato and olive and mini croques. So delicious and catered for pregnant ladies (the cheese was pasteurised) and a vegetarian. Roberto was so attentive, super friendly and absolutely made the afternoon. Will def be coming back.

Two things you never have to search far to find in Teddington - coffee and a haircut. Coffee shops abound - from the big chains through M and S's decent little in-store cafe to a healthy sprinkling of independents. But of course 'independent' doesn't necessarily guarantee quality and having tried most of them over the years there are a few duds in the bunch. The French Tarte however is right up there on the winner's rostrum. I really like this place. Great coffee, friendly and efficient staff, and a selection, albeit limited, of fresh, tasty snacks - the quiche is excellent The place is spotlessly clean. It can get crowded, and when the sun shines directly through the big windows it can feel almost claustrophobic In cold weather it can get draughty if the front door isn't closed properly (and it isn't always). So this is why my preference is to stop off mid-afternoon and sit at one of the little outside tables enjoying a very tasty brew.

Teddington is full of cafes but this is my favourite. It's small so not too much room for buggies and screaming kids thank goodness. So it a nice place to have a pastry and a cup of coffee and a chat. The staff are very friendly and the cakes are delicious. They never rush you out the door and it's a relaxing atmosphere. The staff always greet you with a smile and say goodbye when you leave. Some cafes don't even notice you but not this one. They will do table service after you order at the till

Just been to the French tart with my two children, I was shocked how horrible it was! The baguettes were so hard and stale that we couldn't eat them, and the cake was so dry it fell to crumbs! I wouldn't of paid, but I didn't want my kids to feel embarrassed! Such a same as from the outside it looks really inviting! Five of us left our food and the verdict from adults and kids was yuk yuk yuk.

I had their Broccoli and Stilton soup today, I could have eaten (or drunk) it for ever, absolutely delivious, served in a good sized deep bowl with little slices of their own baked bread. They also do a sublime-looking afternoon tea served on a beautiful upright circular stand. You have to order it 48 hours in advance, and that's exactly what I am going to do next week; a party of 5 women sitting near us had two stands on their table and everything looked stunning. At £16.50 it's a third or a quarter of the price at The Ritz. Lovely, charming staff.

May I suggest that when you reach this cafe you better make sure that they want to serve you. I arrived about 11.30 am sat outside and waited and waited. Other people were coming in and being served first??? I would love an explanation for that, is it that I am a regular and have become irrelevant?? An ashtray was brought out for me but I had already had a smoke. Anyway I waited and had another smoke.(yes I know awful habit) Still no coffee. Obviously there were not enough staff . Is there any doubt to my loyalty? At the moment I have enough cards do have 4 free coffees.Anyway having somewhere to get to so I left still coffee less.

We have been to Teddington a few times now and walked past here many times on the way to the train station. Finally we had an opportunity to go in and see what they had to offer. It was very busy but we managed to find a seat in the window area which was great although a little warm in the sun that was until the awning was pulled down outside.I had an americano and my wife had tea. We also ordered brioche and bacon and egg. The coffee was OK nothing special however the food was very good and tasty. I have often had lunch in Teddington and there are many reasonable restaurants there. The French Tarte is a valuable addition. The staff were pleasant and the dishes of the day, various quiches with salad, looked attractive.I had a leek and salmon quiche with a small salad together with a beverage for £6. I had tea and it came in a teapot an miraculously had used loose leaves rather than a teabag. The salad was not very generous but the quiche was good and it was just what I needed. The restaurant is pleasant and lunch was a success

Popped in for the quiche and hot drink offer for £6. Blue cheese quiche was really flavourful, and the salmon one was also tasty with a good consistency, not too heavy but still a satisfying light meal in itself. Lovely buttery pastry and not a soggy bottom in sight. Black forest chocolate cake was impressively made, like something in a very fancy restaurant, and an amazing smooth chocolatey consistency, but could have been more cherry flavour to counteract the heavy chocolate in my opinion. Friendly staff. Would go again.

We dropped by mid week for a quick bite in this bright and authentic French cafe. The BLT baguette was very nice, I'd prefer some cracked black pepper with it. I wrote a review about this place a while ago and I appreciated management informing me that their pastries are baked in the Surbiton branch. Anyway as I haven't had a chance to visit I bought their chocolate and almond and the plain almond Croissants on the weekend and I was in heaven especially with the chocolate one, didn't feel heavy like some other crossiants I've had. For some reason I thought that this place baked their own croissants and made their cakes! I was disappointed to see that they are in fact delivered! However, I do love their almond croissants. My partner bought me 4 of their cakes as at the moment they have 4 cakes for £10. The cakes look amazing, but that’s where it stops they aren’t the best tasting. There is a passion fruit cake which is yummy. But as a chocolate lover their cakes lack flavour and they are definitely style over substance. Word of advice stick to the croissants!

I have had a lovely slice of quiche and a pretty good chocolate/almond croissant here (although, is it really possible to go wrong with chocolate and almond?) but the coffee is terrible. I understand that they are primarily a bakery but their lattes and flat whites are bitter, scalding hot and have a distinctive burnt taste. The first time I tried a coffee here was in response to their blackboard outside, saying something about how great their coffee was. Not really.

I was so glad to find this French cafe /pâtisserie in Teddington first but once I tried their lemon cake and croissant I became absolutely disappointed. The lemon cake was a bit burnt and there was no lemony flavour at all. The croissant tasted like a supermarket packed one. Of course it is much more expensive. Although some of their cakes look beautiful, I felt their products were too over priced and taste nothing. I wonder their pâtissier really feel what they are making are tasty?
