The French Table in Kingston upon Thames

Have been meaning to visit for a long time as have only ever heard positive things and lived in or around the area most of my life. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table, covered with romantic confetti and featuring a personalised menu as I had let the restaurant know it was our 1 year anniversary, these small touches gave us good indication that the evening was going to be a good one! My partner and I both had the Tartelette to start, she had the Hake and I had the Venison. Our eyes met as we tasted our first bite. It was Sublime. Other than the mouth-wateringly good food, the restaurant really stands out to me in regards to the service provided. We were served by multiple staff, all of whom were knowledgable about the food and drink provided, attentive, polite and with a personal touch. We spoke with Sarah the owner who was a delight and a lovely soul. As someone with experience in the industry I could not fault the place and the evening was amazing, start to finish! Well done The French Table, we will be seeing you again very soon!

Amazing personalised experience for a birthday and fantastic food!

Absolutely stunning meal. We were visiting for my wife's 30th and they had gone so far as to provide custom menus with her name included, table decorations and a birthday candle desert. Fantastic. The Fish course was genuinely the best fish dish I have eaten and I have been lucky enough to visit some really amazing restaurants. Well done TFT.

The quality of the food yet again was exceptional. The service was faultless. The care and attention paid from 'personalised' menu , to the recommendation and the food itself was perfect.

Simply sublime. We did the tasting menu and every course was gorgeous, including the complimentary velouté to begin with. The wines were lovely, and well matched to each course. The service is friendly, well-informed, and efficient. The French Table isn't cheap, but it's well worth the what you pay, so if you're looking for an exceptional dining experience anywhere within the surrounding area of Surbiton, you can't do any better.

This was our second time eating here and the food (the tasting menu) and the service were simply wonderful! We will be going again!

We went for a family dinner last night after having not been for a number of years. We were not disappointed: friendly staff, charming ambience and a fine mix of flavours on every plate. The wines complement it perfectly and the cocktails are top notch. We won't leave it so long next time!

We opted for the tasting menu at lunch which offered a variety of beautifully presented dishes of authentic French cooking. Standout dishes were the squash veloute, hake and the passion fruit tarte. The restaurant had a buzzing atmosphere and service was perfect.

Amazing as usual. The only thing that could have been better would be that when I asked for a glass of white wine I could have had a choice!

Delightful as ever, a three hour lunch at The French Table is the most pleasant three hours of the 168 a week contains, until the next time, thanks again.

Fantastic food and service. Although not cheap, it’s a very reasonable price for the quality. It was my second time having the lunch tasting menu with matching wine and both have been exceptional.

Very relaxed lunch despite the restaurant being full. So good to see it being used to full capacity. We were with friends and had a very lovely time - the food was its usual high standards. My desert wasn't spectacular but certainly looked the part. Well done TFT - you always nail it.

Excellent service and meal, just remember if you require a specific table a week before they may contact you to advise it’s not available. Very disappointing and booking system needs to be updated for the benefit of the Customer and THT.

Tasting menu with wines was excellent though I can never quite finish all the food. Pudding gets nibbled at but I prefer savoury courses anyway. And they were stunning.

Service was wonderful and very well trained. We had the classic menu and the food 5/5 stars. The horseradish mash was outstanding. Malbec worked well with the beef.A little on the cool side for elders.Welcome for our grandson recently qualified as chef was exceptional.

We booked a table here for our anniversary and frankly, it was perfect. We were warmly greeted at the door and taken to our table upstairs, which was scattered with tiny heart-shaped sequins - a nice touch. The menu also wished us a 'Happy Anniversary' and the staff were so friendly and attentive. The food was superb. I had the Steak Tartare, Duck followed by Passionfruit Tart, while my partner opted for the Parfait en Croute, Hake and Raspberry Souffle (thoroughly recommended). This was a warm, friendly venue that we hope to return to very soon indeed.

For that special and unforgettable lunch, The French Table is just the place. The cuisine is always perfect - as well as being innovative. And the service? Just wonderful - attentive without being all over you.

Booked a table for my parents 66th wedding anniversary and unprompted, the staff asked for a photo to personalise the menu. The meal felt special with food choices you wouldn't be able to get at any other restaurant in Kingston/Richmond. Glad I booked this and can definitely see why it is usually very booked up.

Lovely lunch for my husband’s birthday, we were greeted on arrival with a happy birthday and the personalised menu was a lovely touch. The food was stunning from homemade bread to melt in your mouth pastry. We will definitely be back, it was a day to remember thank you TFT

We absolutely love this restaurant. It’s such a treat. The service is superb. The staff are knowledgeable and obliging. The food is always delicious. The wine is pricey, the list is tricky. Disappointing that we were charged so much for limoncello when in most places this is offered on the house. I appreciate that this is a French restaurant and not Italian, but we had hardly stinted on the champagne, red wine and cocktails!

Booked a lunch table for a birthday celebration and arrived to find a personalised menu wishing me a happy birthday. We chose the set lunch and asked for a wine recommendation to match. The Bulgarian chardonnay was a revelation. My dessert was also decorated with a happy birthday message. The service was impeccable and the upstairs section was had a very calm and peaceful ambience. This is an excellent restaurant and we will be coming back.

The TFT know their customers so well they even calculated correctly which anniversary we were celebrating. Their fare is always imaginative too.

It was very good from start to finish the service was attentive but not intrusive it was for a friends 70th birthday and they did a little plate for her they also did the menu with her name at the top and her birthday . The bread was superb and we were offered it two or three times . All in all a lovely experience definately made us feel very special

Probably the best restaurant in Surrey! Just an exceptional mix of menu, meal presentation, service and ambience. I tend to opt for the tasting menu with wine pairings which always delivers a positive experience. Overall just a fabulous dining experience.

First class food, excellent friendly and informative service. For the average person quite costly but for a special occasion a must and certainly worth it. Been several times and the standard has remained of a very high standard. Totally recommend.

Another delightful evening at The French Table to celebrate our anniversary. Excellent food and service as ever.

We met for a family lunch at this lovely place in Surbiton. On a nice street a block or so back from the Thames. We had to book quite some time in advance for four people - it was the last day before the August break which tells you the nationality of the staff. Quite a formal place in that neat French manner. Three choices of menu for lunch which required a little navigation. However lots of classic high quality choices which were superb. Wine selection was excellent. Would certainly come back. A high quality place obviously with a dedicated local following.

My wife wanted to celebrate her sister and brother-in-law's move to their new house and there's no better place to do this than the French Table in Surbiton! We've been several times and have never been disappointed and last night (05 September) was no exception. Outstanding food, ambiance, fantastic service along with incredibly welcoming and friendly staff (Estell et al), makes it an evening to remember .. thank you all at The French Table!

Always a lovely experience and the food is fabulous

It was our Wedding Anniversary and we were made to feel very welcome. The service was attentive without being intrusive so just right. The food was up to it's usual excellent standard. The only slight downside was the menu was a bit short but this may be because they had only just opened up after the summer break. I would definitely return.

Interesting food with a clever range of tastes to savour. Definitely not what you'd normally try to make at home so a treat for cooks as well as gourmets.

We did the tasting menu and it was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Generous portions - we were so full at the end of the meal! It was my sisters birthday and they were so kind and personalised her dessert for her too. Highly recommend - will definitely go back!

An exceptional dining experience, I savoured every course - plaice starter, the beef special and the sublime raspberry soufflé. Very good to see good quality wine sold as carafes which meant I could also enjoy a luscious dessert wine. My guest loved all her choices too - gazpacho, duck and delice of the day. It’s a real treat to dine here.

This restaurant never disappoints. The food and service are both amazing. I asked for a table downstairs as one of our party had mobility problems and we were given a lovely table in the window with plenty of space. It is a bit pricey but well worth the experience. I would certainly recommend it especially for a celebration.

I have been going to the French Table for some years but I have to say that this is the best taster menu I have had there. Fantastic menu, very clever wine pairings. The service, staff and attention to detail was incedable.

I was treat on by my niece and her husband for his birthday and initially did not think I would get a table at the French Table but I was very lucky. Had a superb meal on Saturday night enjoying the splendid food and atmosphere. I have eaten at this restaurant on a number of occasions and the food has always been of the highest quality served by friendly and professional staff - a real credit to the restaurant. My thanks once again for an excellent evening.

As before The French Table gives diners a wonderful experience from start to finish. From entering the restaurant to your departure you are welcomed and cared for in an exemplary fashion. Professional, measured and efficient - nothing needs improvement. The food itself was a delight and the wine delicious. We had a marvellous lunch - as I am sure do all patrons, and will undoubtedly enjoy being at table again.

This popular local restaurant deserves its excellent reputation for great food and service. Early family dinner and by the time we left every table was covered. Traditional menu, no flights of culinary fancy, just great ingredients, well cooked and presented. The special of oyster thermidor, the deep fried plaice and the rabbit terrine were all a great start. We followed with the duck, the lamb and the gurnard - again all thoroughly enjoyed. All the accompanying sauces demonstrated real skill in achieving great depth of flavour. Puddings again were delicious and the additional cheese plate was interesting, generous and clearly well kept. The wine list caters for all budgets. The service is excellent. Long may it continue to prosper

Another excellent meal at this restaurant. Lovely intimate space upstairs. Menu was great with lots of choice - lamb and duck for the mains were delicious as was the soufflé for pudding. Bread as ever delicious. Service really good too. Will be back!

Simply one of the most gorgeous dining experiences in the South. The menu is forever evolving seasonally, but always balances being incredibly creative and delicious, and the service remains impeccable. Very large and reasonably priced wine list, offering glasses, carafes and bottles of incredible stuff. A must visit for anyone local or passing through, and incredible value for money given the standard.

The restaurant is situated on a quiet street where you can park easily after 18:30. The tables are nicely spaced and the waiting staff are excellent. The quailty of the food is excellent and the menu will suit all tastes. We tried the taster menu with wines and it was just about the right quantity for us with bread and butter provided at regular intervals. It was decent value for money and we will be going again as there were things on the menu we would like to try. The pea and mint gazpacho was delicious and the rest of the dishes were also but that stood out as original.

What a wonderful dining experience! We've been to The French Table a number of times now and without exception have had a wonderful time. This time we were celebrating our 25th Wedding anniversary and the staff celebrated with us, special note on top of our menu and congratulations written beautifully on our dessert plate. As always, the food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Every course was wonderful! My wife is a vegetarian and she too thoroughly enjoyed the menu. Special thanks to Estelle and Silvia our waitresses, Sarah the owner and Richard the chef, you all made us feel very special 😍 All of the staff are so good at what they do and you can tell that they all work together as a team. Everything about our experience was fantastic! It was our anniversary and the staff managed to make it special, without going over the top. We had the tasting menu and every dish was absolutely delicious and beautiful to look at. We were treated to a few extras which were equally divine. The service is second to none and the wine completed our perfect meal. Don’t hesitate - it is expensive but worth every penny.
