The French Table in Kingston upon Thames

We had an absolutely fantastic evening last night. We picked the upstairs seating area which was lovely. The Tasting Menu was just heaven in your mouth. Such delicious food all cooked to an absolute perfection. I've added some photos of the mouthwatering delights as we made our way through the menu. What was also a nice surprise was the amuse-bouche at the very start and a wonderful full-flavoured palate cleansing sorbet. We found it very warm and friendly, and our professional waitress was 'the best'. Every course was explained, as was the wine as we opted for the wine pairing. My sincere thanks the the team at TFT for superb food and a memorable evening. We both look forward to going back again soon.

We haven’t been to the French Table for a few years as felt it had dropped a bit but wow is it back! We really enjoyed the paired tasting menu tonight. Suzie was so lovely and friendly and Ashleigh was very knowledgable about the wines and pairings. All in all, we had a fantastic evening and will definitely be back again soon. Thank you!

Another flawless meal at one of London’s best restaurants. Surprisingly tucked in a suburban street in Surbiton, The French Table was a hidden neighbourhood gem for almost 20 years - but the secret is out now. Friendly service and accomplished cooking from Eric and Sarah and their team.

We've visited the French Table a few times and we've never been disappointed. The food is delicious and the service impeccable. The desserts are usually the highlight for us as the French Table isn't afraid to experiment with more unusual flavour combinations. The chocolate and olive marquise with tarragon and Tonka bean ice cream was incredible. A unique combination that worked so well - absolutely delicious. My partner's lemon tart with blueberry and lavender was also fantastic - really fresh and the flavours blended so well together. We're definitely coming back!

As ever TFT is a fantastic experience for both a casual lunch or special occasion. We are regular visitors and took friends for the first time. They were suitably impressed. We had the lunch tasting menu with wine flight. Beautiful food and lovely wine. Staff professional and knowledgeable as ever. Outstanding produce and beautiful sauces, etc.

We have been here a number of times - the food never ceases to impress - always consistently very good. The staff are excellent and attentive without being intrusive. This time I dropped one star for the food - we had the tasting menu which was mostly excellent but the first and second courses, from the list, were both very rich and (for us) needed to be spaced out rather than consecutive.

Enjoyed the Classics menu (set menu of dishes from previous years that changes fortnightly) with paired wines. We sat upstairs which was quieter than the buzzy downstairs vibe. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable, pacing the courses well. The little birthday touches completed the occasion.

This restaurant offered a pleasant five-course meal in a cozy setting. The staff clearly paid attention to detail, which contributed to a relaxed atmosphere. The food was good, with the halibut and wagyu beef being particularly noteworthy. It was a nice way to spend a birthday!

We moved out of Surbiton about 12 years ago, and this was the last time we had been to TFT. My last experience, albeit somewhat inebriated was a marvelous celebration of fine, french cuisine. This time, on a more sober kilter 12 years later, we had a very similar experience. The service is excellent: all my questions were answered with knowledge and each course was carefully explained to us. The 5-course tasting menu was amazing (I even ate the complimentary celeriac and mushroom soup (I hate mushrooms). We selected some very pleasant wines from the well proportioned (from a cost perspective) wine menu. Our guests, who's 50th belated birthday it was, even got a candle in their dessert with some nice chocolate writing on the plate. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for: high quality French cuisine coupled with unobtrusive, yet friendly and knowledgeable service.

The French Table is a local gem. An independent business and very much the best restaurant in the area. Not too big or too packed, it has a nice feeling and the service is friendly and professional. Food was superb. We opted for the 5 course tasting menu, but as a birthday meal we were served 8 courses! Sevice was efficient, but not intrusive. House wine was excellent.

Beautiful food and perfectly balanced service - between informal and professional. Picked up that my friend had a birthday even though we had not specifically told them this, and brought the special desert with the candle and writing. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Our dining experience was perfect - absolutely faultless. From before we had even arrived when the restaurant called to re-confirm our booking and check our requirements to when we left after having thoroughly enjoyed a sublime three hour tasting menu, washed down with a delicious bottle of Cotes du Rhine, we loved every minute of our time at The French Table. We live half an hour away from Surbiton, which is probably just as well as we would visit this restaurant on a frequent basis if we lived closer. Thank you to the entire team at The French Table - we send our compliments to the chefs again and a special mention goes to the friendly waiting staff whose attention to detail was superb. We will return soon and hope that the divine foie gras custard is still on the menu as it’s the best we’ve ever eaten (and we regularly spend time in Paris). Highly recommended!

Wonderful meal. The food was excellent, service outstanding - knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, efficient. Lovely ambience, we did have a very noisy table near us, although I have to say the tables were well spaced, they were just extremely noisy. Would recommend highly, it’s not cheap but you do get value for your money so worth well it and we will be back!

The French Table is our family byword for "fabulous food" or "celebration meal" and once again they did it up right. My mum (turning 87) was feted and made to feel really special - the service was impeccable and they dealt with my coeliac disease with unflustered confidence. The food was delicious and the atmosphere buzzy but not disruptive or too noisy to have a conversation with our elderly guest of honour. The owner went out of her way to ensure we were having a great evening and her son looked after us with care but awareness of when to leave us to it. Perfect! As usual!

We hadn’t been to this fantastic local French restaurant for a while and we weren’t disappointed. The food was as good , if not better than our last visit, and the staff were on the ball. Can’t wait to get back.

Another outstanding tasting menu at lunch time. My table of three was delighted with every delicious course, served by charming staff in a very light and comfortable restaurant with beautiful decor. It could not be faulted. Very much equivalent to a two star restaurant but bizarrely TFT does not appear on the list at all - seems strange with all the plaudits that this French restaurant receives.

This is true gem in Surbiton and I feel lucky that we have such an exquisite treat on our door steps. The food was exquisite and the service is impeccable and I think very fair in price and value. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this place as everything about it is really special. The people who look after you are knowledgable and personable and nothing is too much trouble. You get excellent advice on pairing wines to go with your dishes and the whole experience is effortless and memorable. Have been doing an annual trip for Christmas for a few years now and have been on the odd ocassion at other times and will continue to do this as each time the experience is amazing.

Another reliably good experience at TFT. Pate and mussel marmite starters were really good. Hake and special beef were fine too. Excellent service as always. Prices have drifted up a bit, but that's inevitable.

I have lived in the area for a year and I wonder why it has taken me so long to visit this wonderful restaurant. Having lived previously in Wimbledon, nothing there compares. Friendly and attentive service, excellent food and a decent and well priced wine list. Nothing to fault at all other than the difficulty of booking a table at short notice- but that’s the price of quality!

The attention to detail is a hallmark of the restaurant and their food and wine is flawless. We are fortunate that we are local but we would travel miles for a meal at the French Table! We came here for our 5 year wedding anniversary lunch and cannot believe we haven’t been sooner! Great food and lovely little personal touches because it was our anniversary. We are definitely going to become regulars.

Absolutely incredible experience dining at The French Table. We ordered the tasting menu which was so delicious; a seasonal masterpiece, with the venison a personal highlight. I am gluten free but the staff couldn’t be happier to accommodate, replacing rather than withdrawing items from the menu. Brice was very attentive as our waiter and took the time to recommend wines to pair with our dinner and the rest of the staff were also brilliant. 10/10 service and 10/10 food.

Still our favourite restaurant in the world. What Sarah and Eric don’t know about fine dining hospitality isn’t worth knowing. Perfection every visit.
