I treated my friend to the Shepherd Neame 241 margarita deal. Our server was called Justina and she was so friendly and welcoming. She made excellent Margaritas. This was my friend's first experience of this cocktail and she loved it so much, she wanted to buy another. Justina encouraged her to sign up to Shepherd Neame, so we could get another 241. So great customer service plus great for the brewery. We also got chatting to the manager Alessia, who was also really friendly. She also told me about the charity that Shepherd Neame currently support, which is the air ambulance Kent/ Surrey. A great cause and a lovely pub with lots of space, so do visit.

been dining here for a few years and it used to be very good with a good menu choice but the last 18 months the price has gone up and the food quality and choice has gone down dramatically. It took me back to school dinner days. A group of us used to spend a lot of money in the bar before and after dining and because of the food quality and price we will now be going elsewhere

Overpriced and needs investment. Beautiful interior but nearly empty whilst other pubs are over flowing. Beer at over £6 a pint is high, toilets with no locks and broken seats all together shows a pub that wants one off visitors ie tourists and does not want to maintain an acceptable standard needed for returning clients.

Came to watch the rugby - their card machine was not working. It meant that when we paid for drinks it took the money out of our account but not the till. We asked for proof of this but the card machine was out of paper. The staff were then continuously not fair to us and kicked us out when we ordered another drink. It is now hours later and the money is still out of our accounts. Terrible staff - terrible drinks - terrible place.

A large group of friends and I frequented the Freemasons arms for 15 years. We had between 10 and 40 of us come once every month, with the only break being when the pub was closed during COVID. During these times it was often that we were really the only group in the pub. We would always order food and a significant number of drinks, and we estimate our monthly spend was in the thousands. We had a good relationship with the staff, and thoroughly enjoyed spending time at the pub. However, at the end of last year we were informed that our monthly bookings were no longer wanted as they now had a comedy club upstairs (in a different room, with a different bar), other people were booking tables and not showing up, and they were now so busy on Friday's that there would be no bookings allowed any more. Given that not once had we booked a table and not shown up, and we were a constant source of revenue for the pub even during the periods they were open between lockdowns, I find it completely shocking that the pub decided that they would no longer take our booking. The pub has never been fantastic. The food is mediocre, the drinks are expensive, but the staff were always friendly and the location & layout suited us. It seems that the friendly relationship we once had with the previous management has evaporated only to be replaced with contempt. I must say I have taken great pleasure in walking past the pub recently to see it empty, particularly on the evening we usually would've frequented it. I for one will not be returning to Freemasons arms, and I think the feeling amongst our group is much the same. So, if you want to provide a source of revenue to a business for years, hold good relationships with them, and then be cast aside for no discernible reason, I recommend the Freemasons arms. Otherwise, I would visit one of the other much nicer pubs nearby such as the Sun Tavern, Marquess of Anglesea, or Bow Street Tavern.

First time back at the pub since a change of management- venue as good as ever, food decent very disappointing to find one of the staff walks around the place taking plates as and when they wish - ie didn’t ask if could clear and tried to take away a side plate with food on whilst I was eating! Not ACCEPTABLE and staff member was told so by me

This pub looks pleasant at first sight but is really disabled hostile. We had a meal booked in the first floor dining room but there was a long, winding stair to reach it. There was no provision for private pre-dinner drinks in the dining room. The adjacent toilet can only be reached by a short flight of stairs. The menu offers VERY little for people who don't eat meat There are far better place for potential customers with reduced mobility.

Dreadful pub. I went to watch the football which they advertise to show. No one there, I was by myself and was declined when I asked to watch my given game due to the team I support. Discrimination at its finest. Won’t be back. Avoid!

A pleasant enough pub for a spot of lunch. Reasonably good food if a little expensive, as was the beer! A bit dark but I guess it’s an authentic Victorian experience. The loos aren’t the best, a bit dank.

I ate mid week around mid day. The pub was very quiet and I was one of only five people in it. It is a pub I have eaten in before and not been disappointed, hence the reason I went back. Internally it is reasonably clean and presented, but definitely showing its age. I will fully agree with the previous review that the toilets are in need of re-furbishing or at least a coat of paint. They are not good, far from clean, smelly, and have a number of broken fittings. There is a reasonable choice of bitters, lagers and spirits available. The food menu is basic and not extensive, with the usual pub fare available. The staff were friendly enough, the service was good and my food arrived promptly. The beer was reasonable, not the worst pint I have had but a long way from the best. Sadly my sandwich was nothing special and could have come from any supermarket packet as a meal deal. While it was tasty enough it lacked any form of presentation, only coming with a few bits of lettuce. Far from what I would have hoped for. Not bad value for money, a tenner for a pint and a sandwich in London if it was right. There are plenty of other pubs nearby and based on this visit I would suggest using them. It was a great pub, what's gone wrong?

This is a pleasant Victorian pub with an excellent choice of drinks served pleasantly and efficiently, we did not try the food but I am sure it would be nice. The problem, sorry to mention it, is that the basement toilets are terrible, badly fitted-out and, the worst thing, really obnoxiously smelly.

As me and a friend entered we was told that it is all table service even though we said it was just drinks, so was expecting bar service as it is expect due to restrictions being lifted.

Always fresh and hot..great place to stop after a show, or before, Covent Garden tube and Holborn tube station only a few minutes away.

We were looking for a good place to get my friend a "fish and chips" dinner. This was where we ended up and it didn't disappoint. The beers on tap were wonderful, especially Spitfire lager, and the food was fantastic for a pub. I had a bacon bbq burger that was simply wonderful and really hit the spot after a long day of sightseeing. The best part about our experience was the two exceptionally nice ladies we struck up a conversation with during the English Women's World Cup victory over Argentina. Kate and Hazel were very friendly, had great insights into politics, travel, and life, and genuinely made our experience in London exponentially more memorable. Will remember this pub for years because of our fun times that night.

This venue is in easy walking distance, halfway between Holborn Tube and Covent Garden. I have to admit to being a frequent visitor there. Often it is so popular that getting a seat can prove problematical. However, on our visit this month we were spoilt for choice. In fact, the staff invited us to sit in a 'reserved' area. Food and drink, as always, hit the spot and we will be back.

We stopped here for something to eat before a night out nearby. The pub was quite empty when we arrived and we're able to order our main course and get it quite quickly. My wife had the Woodford ale sausages and mash while I had the chilli with rice. They food was good and the sausages were among the best my wife had tasted. We ordered dessert and just after a number of people arrived in the pub. We then seemed to be forgotten and had to be reminded a number of times. It finally arrived and the apple pie and custard turned out to be apple and blackcurrant pie with custard. The cost was very reasonable especially when you consider it was Covent Garden. The only reason it is four stars is due to forgetting our dessert otherwise it would have been five. Well worth a visit.

One to steer clear of. I had my laptop stolen there earlier this week. Landlady couldn't give two hoots.

We've ordered a bottle of proseco at 10.55pm and once we've paid, the barmaid told us the bar is closing down in 5 minutes so we have to hurry up to finish our drinks (and we even didn't start them!)Worst service ever, you should think about hiring new polite staff!!!!!The blond girl with short hair is so impolite and really rude, I will never come back here!

Great pub in Covent Garden. It is a Shepherd's Neame pub, so the beer selection is top notch. I'd recommend trying the Spitfire. Their Fish & Chips are great as well!

We chose this location for lunch before going to a matinee performance at a near by theatre mainly for its location and the fact it was not over crowded. we were served with our drinks quickly and once we had chosen from the menu we were shown to our table and given a chose of tables to sit at. the food was served fairly quickly and was excellent in every way, will definitely go there again when in the area

The team that run this bar are extremely committed and professional. Great choice of wines, good food and a really central location. The owners have a keen eye for detail and oversee the team with great professionalism. Staff training and service excellent, a must stop when in Long Acre.

Popped in for a pint and to catch a bit of football whilst waiting for a friend. Nice busy, but friendly bar. Mixture of tourists and locals. The sound on the TV's wasn't loud enough in my opinion but I guess not everyone was there for the football.

got there by chance after a ballet at the opera. Friendly staff, only had a few drinks. Decent place to grab a few drinks before or after a theatre/opera/cinema.

Visited today after a tour of Freemason Hall. It seemed as good a place as any to have a beer and lunch. The staff were pleasant enough and at nearly £14 for 3 beers the price is probably average for London. Went to order food and asked for the menu. Was told wewould have to hurry up as they stopped serving food at 2:30 (it was 2:15 at the time). It was nearly £34 for pie and mash, pie and chips (both with veg) and fish and chips. It did not take long to arrive. Was a little dissapointed that the savoy cabbage and leeks (advertised veg) turned out to be a few peas, a couple of thin slices of carrot and 2 miniture beans. However the top crust pie looked fine. It was ok but the 2 of us that had it both agreed it was over salted. The fish and chips were fine. All in all not a disaster but it was a pub serving pub grub. There was nothing special that would warrent a rating of 4. There are plenty of other pubs and restaurants in the area and must admit if I am in the area again I will try another one.

Superb 'pub' lunch at a very reasonable price, very friendly and helpful staff. Historical Fact - where the first meeting of the FA (football association) was held.

Recently came here for a visit during our trip to London for a few beers. Had to visit as my brother had worked here many years ago. Beer was great. Staff was friendly.
