Excellent cask beers. Fish and chip shop a few steps away, enjoy with a pint. Shame they don't give CAMRA members or Defence Discount Service members a discount.

Cracking little bar. Had a poo, only one toilet. Everyone smelt it

Amazing selection of beers, spirits, and wines. The staff and customers are friendly. There are loads of interesting pieces of decor that pique interest and wonder. All in all, it's an amazing, cosy pub.

Awesome little watering hole, stopped off in Walmer for the weekend and introduced to the freed man. Wonderful cozy atmosphere and a great selection of drinks. It must be a special place for a Yorkshireman to enjoy a southern bar 👍 5*

Are you into real ale? Deal & Walmer are blessed to have this facility. Recommend you get the real ale app which will tell you what ales are in The Freed Man and other local pubs. They always have a dark ale plus 3 other interesting selections. I have a large dish of roasted peanuts too and all for £5.00. Atmosphere is relaxed and homely with a lot of conversation between customers. You won't be disappointed!

What a friendly place. Great ale 'Moon Porter' was quaffed in quantity accompanied by fish and chips from next door but 3! Doesn't get any better than that!

Decent selection of beer, cask and keg. You can get fish and chips from a few doors down and eat it inside. Staff are lovely.

Well this is definitely a great gem. If you come to Walmer, definitely come to the Freed Man. Lots of beers, I tried a couple of stouts, really tasty. Wine and gins amongst other drinks. It's a friendly place and everyone says hello. Ian the landlord is a very interesting and welcoming chap. Will I come here again, absolutely!

On a visit to say farewell to friends we came here for food and a pint or two. My first pint had soured and was replaced without drama. The fish and chips was very tasty. So well worth a visit

Quirky little place. Only had time to stop for a couple beers. I tried a lemon cider which was a new one for me. Had a nice selection of beers I had never seen before which is always a treat. Would definitely liked to have had a longer time in here. Kind of in the middle of nowhere though...

Always a good selection of beer here. Atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The landlord Ian and his staff are passionate about the beer they serve and where it has come from. It's a wonderful little pub, decorated by all the items Ian has found beachcombing over the years. Do not miss out if you get a chance to visit.
