From the start to the very last minute such an enjoyable experience at the Claridges. Went with a friend for afternoon tea and enjoyed every bit of it. We were served by two lovely gentlemen who were accommodating our every request and move. The food is great. One of us is a strict vegetarian so the team created a special sandwich plate. Decaf cappuccino was perfect! Mint tea, scones and pastries - all get 5 stars. We were allocated a beautiful spot next to the piano stand. Nice life music was a cherry on the top. Ready to book my next visit. Must try experience

I love coming here! The staff are exceptional. From the manager George (Indian) to the wait staff: Maggie, Peter, Georgio, Jean-Luca, Isaak, Mimi, Anita, Emily, Irina, Omar, Cutton... just a lovely lovely bunch of people. Personable, insightful, effervescent and really welcoming, especially as a long time customer. I never feel judged, I'm treated with respect, kindness and met with the same energy I put out. Hospitality like this is VERY RARE and I couldn't recommend Claridges enough. Only once did an older gentleman speak to me and my mother rudely, but as soon as he witnessed how the team responded to me being there his demeanour changed and he apologised. Claridges is by far the best place in Mayfair for elegance. It's clean and the toilets are immaculately serviced by the ladies whom I know well now. I have tried The Connaught about 6 times and its too haughty and you're made to feel undeserving. Staff don't smile and they only want to serve their guests rather than locals who want to establish a sense of belonging there through loyalty. Read my review on Google about them. Last time I was there was after Stevie Nicks and it was busy, but staff were unfriendly. I felt judged and made to feel as though I didn't belong. Shame really, because once I find a place I like and establish relationships, I tend to stick to that venue. And it will forever be Clairidges now. Thank you to all the team, especially Peter and George (the Indians) who are just so exceptional.

WAAAAY overpriced, totally average experience. Drinks nowhere near good enough for the prices being charged. Can't help but feel taken for a ride, they seem to be exploiting the good name of the hotel to overcharge for a sub-par experience. Happy to pay when it's worth it, this definitely was not.

Been coming to claridges a lot over the past few months it’s my new favourite haunt while I am in London. First time in this part of the hotel. Staff are fantastic so polite and welcoming. I am a very casual dressed person so I’m in jeans, hoodie and trainers and I was still treated very nicely (compared to a lot of other London hotels where this would not happen). Got sat in a nice little corner of the restaurant which is what I asked for. The food was fantastic and the staff you cannot fault at all. The experience you get for what you pay is worth every single penny. Got given a for box of fudge ton my way out by the amazing waiter. Can’t wait to come back.

We went here for afternoon teas as part of my sisters 50th birthday, and it wasn’t the experience we were hoping for. I wish we had booked The Savoy or The Ritz, which incidentally are cheaper. It started when we arrived by taxi, the doorman asked our taxi driver to move along, the taxi driver explained he was dropping us off, we were then greeted with a half hearted doorman opening the door for us with no greeting, he was too interested in the BMW behind us, which the other doorman was dealing with. We then went into the foyer for our afternoon tea, I know the dress code is smart casual, but a hoodie and trainers for me is not this. Our server was nice, but I felt we had more attention from other more senior servers. We had booked Claridge’s Bar for 6.45, we were taken through and were seated, we were quite happy until we realised they had us sat beside a door that leads out to the terrace, which people were using, including staff, the door was left open and the wind that was coming through was quite something. The bar staff were very apologetic, I asked one member of staff if we could move to another table, he went and spoke to the hostess and came back and said there was nothing at the moment, at that time there were a couple of tables free, he asked the hostess again later and was told, yes I have a note. We decide to finish our drinks and go elsewhere, which was a shame as we were looking forward to relaxing and having a few drinks. One of the tables was still empty when we left, so we could have had the lovely night we were looking forward to. The doormen had changed when we left and they in turn were lovely. I wouldn’t recommend and I certainly won’t be back.

We dined at Claridge’s restaurant for lunch for my parents 50th anniversary. From the moment I booked to paying the bill our experience was fantastic. The team at the restaurant emailed options for champagne on arrival and a cake to celebrate. I also wanted to have flowers delivered ahead of our arrival and they helped to ensure the flowers were received and taken to our table. We had drinks at the bar beforehand and without even informing them of who we were they brought a little dessert and happy 50th anniversary written on the plate. Once in the dining room we had a wonderful oval table to seat us comfortably- we were 6 adults and 4 children. Elizabeth and her team were so attentive and accommodating. The food was delicious- especially the halibut and beef wellington. One of the halibuts was overcooked but they quickly brought a new dish when this was raised. All of the children had an adult meal and thoroughly enjoyed them. The cake was delicious. The atmosphere as wonderful- not too quiet but enough buzz. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion. Thank you again

Having just come from another upmarket hotel where the welcome and service was warm and friendly I felt instantly let down when being greeted at this bar. It was my first visit and first impressions count. I’d called the hotel to apologise for running slightly late due to crowds caused by the New Year’s Day parade and had been put through to the bar who reassured me this wasn’t a problem but the gentleman who admitted us demanded to know who we’d spoken to and was quite abrupt, saying they’d nearly given our table away. I understand these policies but how was I supposed to know the woman on the phone’s name? Aside from this, there was no real atmosphere in this bar and although I couldn’t complain about the service thereafter, it all felt quite aloof. The Mai Tais were fine. I will say that the food was outstanding. It was just pizza and chunky chips but the pizza rates as one of the best I’ve had and the fries were to die for. Needs more vegan options such as plant burgers though as I don’t tolerate dairy well so the pizza was lovely but caused suffering later on! Overall I wouldn’t plan to return.

We had the afternoon tea and it was deeply disappointing. I understand it’s Christmas and may cut some slack to the staff. And they need it: the service was extremely slow and uncoordinated. But the very least you’d expect from a place of this class and pedigree is good food and great presentation. None of the above at all. No beautiful tiers that English afternoon tea is famous for. Just stacks of sandwiches that looked very industrial. Unremarkable tableware too. And of course food… the bread that sticks to your palate… I would expect on a cost cutting airline. Please, go to the nearest Brown’s and ask them for a lesson. This is not a rant, this is just a shock of discrepancy between the setting, the cost and the value.

I don't understand how the other reviewers failed to notice the Christmas decorations - there were loads and it was very festive. Although the Louis Vuitton "Christmas tree" in the lobby was questionable. The food was of an excellent standard and the service faultless; friendly and efficient without being intrusive. However I have a couple of minor quibbles which prevent it getting an Excellent rating: firstly if they're going to charge supplements on the festive set menu, it's not unreasonable to expect this to be reflected in the online versions nowadays. Secondly, the light in the side area was too dim - I can have trouble reading in low light, so reading the wine list was difficult. I will definitely return.

We thought Claridges would be the perfect place for a treat for Christmas. The Louis Vitton Christmas tree was underwhelming. We had booked for lunch and was expecting something really special. I had the recommended chicken pie and mash which was ok. The chicken seemed dry and for the price I would have expected something more exciting. The chocolate bomb dessert was nice but the limoncello dessert did not look appetising at all and was just half a lemon with some sour tasting mixture inside. Very disappointing. However it was the cheese plate which was really dreadful. Some tiny bits of cheese and none particularly exciting or interesting, a few crackers, bits of celery and grapes and a pot of tomato ketchup!!! The person serving us kept denying that it was tomato ketchup but then had to concede and took our teas and coffees off the bill. The bill was exorbitant as expected. The service was good, the cocktails and bread were probably the best part of our lunch. A complete let down and the food quality was very poor. I won’t be returning.

We come to London once a year for an entire week, and try to experience some new and exciting dinning. One place we always go back to is Claridge’s. It is a must for us and it is not going to change anytime soon. That day, we had a dinner reservation at Wilton’s so we decided to have lunch a The Foyer. Unfortunately, the lovely Mr. Aleksander M, who took care of us so nicely in our last visit, was on the afternoon shift. I am sending him our best regards. After being seated to our table by the hostess, we had a strange feeling that we were totally ignored. After a while a waitress, who didn’t appear to be very friendly, came and gave us the menus. To start of, we requested two glasses of champagne before we ordered our food. We decided to take the three course lunch selection that includes a glass of champagne. We were not planning to have four glasses, so I asked our waitress if the champagne we already have can be counted in our menu. She said no! they are two different kinds. We will have love to have some wine with our meal but this will have been too much, so we had a lovely champagne lunch. When the waitress delivered the bread, I noticed that she had some tattoos on her arm (some kind of a cross) I personally do not like it. Appearing tattoos shouldn’t be allowed for a wait staff in an establishment like Claridge’s. I will be at the pub having a beer, I will not mind, but not at Claridge’s. This is only my personal opinion as a patron. We didn’t say anything to anyone, but suddenly a different waitress was assigned to us. I am sure, somebody detected some tensions on both sides. Finally the table was alive, and our new waitress Ms…(I am so sorry but we can’t remember her name. She is from Poland and have been with the hotel for 15 years) was a really life saver. I am a true believer that the employees are the company #1 assets. Hire for attitude and train for skill. It was magical! In a few minutes she was able to turn a very unpleasant atmosphere, to a memorable dinning experience. Excellent service should be consistent, and is about starting with a bang, and ending with a bang, especially at Claridge’s. We can’t thank you enough! As I mentioned earlier, We had the three-course menu and took pains to order different dishes, and every one of them didn’t disappoint. The standard of cuisine was excellent and the choice wide enough to make us scratch our foody heads! It all felt effortless and courses arrived with perfect timing (so rare these days). The variation of flavours and textures was a delight, and we spent 2½ hours enjoying every single mouthful! At the end we were comfortably full (of course!) but no more. The photos do the talking but a visit to Claridge’s definitely should be on any foodies' bucket list. We will be back, unfortunately not soon enough. Thank you for having us. Patrick and Emelia Beck

We did our afternoon tea at Claridges Foyer & Reading room on 29th November. We had two adult FESTIVE (so-called) afternoon tea with champagne and a kid’s one. It was overpriced which we can understand considering the name & location of the establishment. But if a place charges £105 for an afternoon tea, should there be no effort put in food being put out on the plate? Yes we ate sandwiches but they were mediocre. Nothing new, no presentation or creativity. The sides of a few sandwiches had dried out and they lacked freshness. Quite clear that someone bulk prepared them in morning and the job is done. The scones must have sat in a warmer for so long that they had become hard. The pastries which should be the highlight of an afternoon tea were so rubbish that my son who has a major sweet tooth left all sugary bits except the gingerbread man. And what is festive about your afternoon tea? Not sure if your chef has high talents that we could not see. Absolutely zero effort put in sandwiches & pastries to make them look festive from any angle. No wow effect; neither to eyes nor the palate. I feel the management and chef doesn’t care about the quality because you don’t have to worry to get filled up. Anyways putting it altogether, the staff was good. Christmas deco was good but the festive afternoon tea was pathetic. Oh and the personalised umbrella given to my son had a spelling mistake in his name. Thanks for spoiling our evening .

Very mixed feelings about my dinner experience, I’ve had warmest welcome, better food in a lot of places, perhaps I was expecting so much because it’s Claridges . If you have never been there was no one there to direct you on where to go, at both the foyer and the bar the hostesses weren’t the most welcoming borderline rude which I didn’t appreciate. The food was average but the waitress was very kind, polite and attentive after visiting the savoy as well lately I know where I’d rather go back for both food and service. I’m pleased I tried Claridges but feeling special was definitely not what I got.

First and foremost, I was impressed with the reservations team. Over the phone and via email, they helped me reschedule my afternoon tea graciously and professionally. As a solo diner at The Foyer & Reading Room, I felt well taken care of by both Michael and Leo, who exuded gentleness, care and quiet charm. Both took time to explain what was being served and to chat a little. It was all in the eye contact. They displayed such wonderful personalities and there was ample evidence of the excellent training they have received! With a female violinist and a male pianist playing lovely pieces nearby, I began my afternoon treat with a glass of Laurent-Perrier rosé champagne, followed by my favourite sandwiches - smoked salmon; cucumber and cheese; turkey; egg mayo; and ham. When I was asked if I wanted some more, I chose only three - smoked salmon, cucumber and ham. Leo came back with two of each! The Christmas pudding was flambéed and it was so delicious that I finished it even though I was already feeling rather full. I was too stuffed to have the pastries and told Leo I wanted to share them with my young nephews at home. We joked that I would instantly become their favourite aunt! (The verdict from me, the kids and nanny at home: our favourites were the chocolate tart and the coconut sphere. The lemon tart was very nice too, especially since the chestnut cream and meringue gave a nice balance to the tartness of the lemon. A clever combination indeed.) By the way, Leo was so kind. In addition to the sandwiches and pastries that I couldn’t finish, he added to my doggy bag a few more pastries and a small tin of Christmas cake! Then on my way out…upon request, the concierge staff promptly escorted me to the cloakroom to store my doggy bag, and then showed me the way to the loo. That’s seamless service. I really thought the afternoon tea and service at Claridge’s were top notch! The service provided by staff was especially warm and generous, and for me, it certainly sets them apart from many other similar establishments. Highly recommended!

This is a very overpriced and overrated tourist destination, a bit like a theme park the sandwiches I’m not up to scratch the cucumber sandwiches were soggy. There was still skin left on the cucumber and the sandwiches have been made for a very long...

Michael and Marius were fantastic hosts. The standard of service and afternoon tea was everything we have come to expect and today, on our 31st wedding anniversary, the Claridge’s team made the day all the more special. Thank you

What a marvellous occasion to celebrate my birthday. The staff were attentive, friendly and professional. Had oysters, roast quail and ox cheek. The latter was perhaps a little too salty but otherwise it was all superb. Finished with tarte tatin and petit fours. Thanks to...

Afternoon tea was great, the place is amazing. Excellent and unforgettable. After we went for a couple of drinks to the bar it was completely full but a lovely lady from Ukraine have managed to organize space for us. So if you are planning to go you should book a bar as well which we did not know before. Bartenders were great and cocktails delicious!!! It was not cheap but it was a great experience and it worth it 100%%. Highly recommend

The Afternoon Tea experience at Claridge's is truly unique. The food served as a part of Afternoon Tea is the best in London; the sandwiches offer the best ratio of delicious filling to bread, and the cakes are absolutely delicious. And the scones are probably...

The best place to enjoy your first day of a New Year. Happy New Year everyone, Happy New Year Claridge’s. Always an outstanding experience and service. It’s an absolute pleasure to keep coming back to you. We remember first time we met, was back in 2016 during Fashion Week, when Aspinal of London, a special brand for us too, had their fashion event happening in one pf your luxurious rooms. We took the opportunity of bringing one of our pieces from D’Artistry (@d_artistry) to photograph it in your lovely home. Thank you for always making us feel so special ❤️🎉🍾🥂

Me and my partner visited Claridges for a quick afternoon cup of tea / coffee and were extremely glad we did! The service was fantastic and the drinks were gorgeous! The shortbread came free of charge, with the drinks, so we were super happy! I’d highly recommend to anyone looking for a quick afternoon drink / nibble whilst in the bustling City of London!
