Went with my husband and daughter, on more than one occasion to this little café A true Gem, staff are always very helpful and cheerful, The cakes are amazing, I have tried to resist but find them too tempting, and unlike some cakes that look lovely but taste is disappointing, these are gorgeous in looks and taste, last time myself and daughter tried the courgette and lime, while my husband had coffee and walnut, both were very tasty, along with an unusual but delicious Mumbai chai, highly recommended. All in all a very nice eating experience with the backdrop of surrounding woodland, and stream that runs past.

Arrived famished half way through a walk around the area. Superb little place with bountiful cakes, drinks and a few savouries. Husband chose the bacon muffin, which hit the spot. I had the gorgeous sausage roll with chutney. Just perfect. The cakes were very lovely and generous slices too! Nice choice of drinks, and suitably refreshed we hit the trail again. Lovely friendly lady served us, and the toilets were nice and clean. Little gem of a place, worth searching out.

We visited here for the first time today after a short walk round Great Wood. A fantastic setting, great choice of well-prepared food and drinks and quick polite service. What's not to love. Ignore the picky reviewers (yes the loo is a portaloo, but it was clean and functional) and some of the items on the menu weren't available. But forget that and enjoy the superb sausage roll and magnificent milk shake.

The critical reviews for The Foxy Bean are obviously from picky, unrealistic people who would not be happy anywhere. What a delight this place is. After emerging from a lovely walk in Great Wood we came across this little gem in the middle of nowhere. Who would ever have thought it? A charming Iittle rural cafe in idyllic surroundings. While the menu may not be huge (come on, it’s a small business in a barn!) the offerings are original, tasty and high quality.

In an excellent location next to Greatwood. Food OK but rather expensive even taking into account the the remote location. Would not have recognised the coffee as coffee if I'd been blindfolded. Keen to revisit other cafes in similar locations but nothing in the Foxy Bean to encourage me to return to it. I know, let’s open a café nowhere near a main road, down single track lanes and just before the tarmac road stops. Obviously a sensible idea? No? Well, it could have been a disaster obviously. Granted there is no shortage of walkers around and the farm house next to The Foxy Bean is by a babbling brook, but indifferent service, high prices and poor food could still have ensured a financial disaster. Fortunately the owners provide gorgeous home cooked food, heat salads, delightful service and sensible prices. The setting is perfect, the homemade cakes are to die for, I really like the plum cake with crumble topping, so nice to also get more than one cup of tea out of a pot. It’s got to the point that I would happily miss the walk and just go for a cup of tea, but due to rehab I must at least justify all the tea and cake with exercise. We don’t live far from BOS so decided to drive down for a couple of hours. It was a very cold day so decided just to have some lunch then head home :-))) We noticed this little cafe and decided to pop in, there was a table right next to the window/door so we went to the back of the restaurant for some warmth, sadly the staff kept leaving the door at the back open even when my husband kept going and closing it. But apart from that hiccup the food was very nice, and I would return but when the weathers warmer :-))))

We went in to have dinner only to find they don’t do food. Waitress was helpful saying we could order a takeaway and eat in. Having 2 small kids, we decided to move on.

Started well, went down hill not because of food but treatment by very aggressive, intimidating landlord ! We had booked, on entering pub went to bar to buy drinksWe were greeted by a very nice lady behind bar,she asked if we would mind eating in the adjacent room as they were busy. She said she would come and get our order for food and drinks. We walked through corridor full of junk and toilet rolls into other room. This room used to be a nice dining room but now houses tv inside fireplace, numerous notices on walls and a lift that looks like a shower in corner.I imagine this room was not normally used.We did not mind sitting in there, looking forward to food.Lady came and took our orders and brought drinks .We were quite happy and were bemused when landlord entered and seemed quite unhappy that he had to serve us. He demanded to know if we were really hungry and wanted starters ,saying aggressively, most people don't as they would not eat mains. We assured him that yes we did want them.He then said nastily that if that was the case it would take an hour and half for food.We said politely that we did not mind waiting. He then said condiments were in the bar. At this point we were sort of amused by him being so rude ,likening him to Basil Faulty. Absolutely bizarre ! Starters actually came in 30mins ,everything fine.He delivered food, ribeye steaks 20 mins later. All cooked to perfection ,one of our party asked where in the bar the condiments were He replied aggressively again,"they are in the bar where I told you 20 minutes ago !! .OBVIOUSLY it does not register with SOME people !!! " The lady came and asked us if everything was OK and asked if we wanted drinks. We said yes and even complimented her on how nice steaks were. We asked him shall we pay in bar and he said aggressively again "Yes and most NORMAL people order drinks at the bar "He then left the pub. This to me was the last straw ! Up till then we just laughed it off .We are NORMAL people who actually live just down the road ! We were asked to NOT order at the bar but what is his problem besides being a rude, nasty bully.None of this was an attempt at humour. I have NEVER encountered behavior like it,let alone by someone who is suppose to be serving you and taking nearly £90 of your money. I have been told since by locals that he is like this ! I feel sorry for the lovely lady working there. Needless to say we will not be back

Stylish, scrummy, lovely setting and staff excellent! We came as quite a large group and they weren't fazed by all our alternative drinks etc. and were fine to split the bill. A really lovely time for us all, thank you!
