Hands down the best Sunday dinner we have ate out in Stoke. The dinner was piping hot, presented beautifully and very tasty. My boyfriend and I both had chicken, but there was a choice of gammon and beef too. The dinner had all the trimmings, pigs in blankets, crispy roasts, fluffy mash, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire puddings and fresh plenty of veggies. The gravy was excellent, made with meat juices and an extra jug even accompanied. The staff here are really friendly and welcoming, we shall definitely be returning. Excellent service and food, would highly recommend!!!

We had hired a canal boat from Black prince at Etruria Stoke on Trent which we were picking up on Saturday afternoon 16 Oct 2021. The Foxley makes an ideal first night mooring. The moorings are along side the pub on the opposite side to the towpath. The beer is excellent, the staff are very helpful and friendly, as are the locals. The night we were there they were not doing food but they were more than happy for us to eat a takeaway in the pub. They gave gave us the menus from a selection of takeaways and provided us with cutlery. Great beer, live music, and a great atmosphere. If you have time before picking the boat up it is well worth driving to Milton so you can see the pub, the town and where the moorings are.

After finding a place to moor we visited the pub in search of dinner. Despite not offering food that day we were made to feel very welcome and offered a range of takeaway menus. Plates cutlery napkins and placemats also part of the service. A lovely welcome and good beer to accompany our pizza/indian selections!

After a full day on the canal, we moored up at The Foxley. Although there was no food being served on the Wednesday the landlord provided menus to local takeaways and provided plates and cutlery. The beer was fantastic and well kept, the pub was authentic and not spoilt by modernisation, a roaring coal fire was a great welcome. The locals were so froenfly to our family and let the kids feed the pub dog ‘Duke’, they gave the kids a chocolate bar each and just made us feel so welcome. Highlight of the holiday. Thank you.

We stopped here on the canal and every one of us (4 adults and an 8yr old) enjoyed our meal. Welcoming staff (and beautiful well behaved Labrador) in what appears to be a predominantly a drinkers pub - don’t be misled by the appearance.

We were on a canal trip and it was advertised the Foxley did meals. Sadly not on Mondays. Beer was good but seemed to be very much a "locals pub for locals". May be different in the summer

Had moored up further down canal and walked back. Must say that first impressions were a bit of a time warp and we had been told by someone we had met that we would be lucky to get anything to eat. Wrong, the lady behind bar really friendly, beer well kept, good flavour when warmed up. "Surf and turf" was very good, so give it a go. ( could be interesting on karaoke night, speakers looked quite big.

Food is advertised 12 noon until 8pm. Not for the first time have we tried to get something to eat here only to be told food is not being served until later (that is if the pub is open at all at lunchtime). Cannot rely on it being open. How it stays in business I do not know. We did manage to eat lunch a few months ago and it was not bad. The next time we went we were told that food was not being served until later that afternoon as it was owners birthday (celebrated the night before) and he had had to go out to restock.

Well well well what can be said ? First of all this place is filthy ! We went here as a family and for Mothering Sunday , how complicated is it to do 25 meals all the same with different meats? All arriving at big gap timing , by the time the last one was serviced half of us had finished eating ! Most of people’s dinners where cold ! The tables where not positioned in a way that even the waitress could get to so your passing food over heads ! One slice of meat !!!! The lamb was cheap mostly fat ! Dust ! Sticky tables ! Very dirty need a good clean ! Work in progress . Never will return not recommend:-(

This has to be the worst Sunday lunch we have EVER had We booked well in advance for 20+ There was a 30min delay between the first and the last meal been served even though we ordered at the same time The meals were both cold and of very poor quality We had to organise our own seating as there was not sufficient room This was a real disappointment and we will not be going back again

I decided to book a table today 16.7.17 for me and my mum for Sunday Lunch after seeing the reviews and it was extremely disappointing. Firstly, the table wasn't even set even though I had booked in advance, the table had drink spilt on it left by the previous diner, I had to ask do we order at the bar and wasn't sure whether I was talking to the waitress as this wasn't clear to me or my mum, we had to ask what meats were available, no placemats were set, no coasters for the drinks, it was very noisy with kids running around and also the parents talking very loud, the roast dinner was ok but I'd rather pay a bit more than the £5.95 and feel at ease and take my time eating rather than feel like I just wanted to get out pretty sharpish. A couple came in and walked out whilst we were there, it's not very welcoming at all and needs decorating - Looked dirty. We could also smell smoke in the pub which was very off putting whilst we were eating and couldn't work out where it was coming from and we were eating inside the pub. We didn't even order a pudding and were wanting to leave asap. Not a place to recommend to family or friends.

Decide to pop to The Foxley for lunch with my Mum. Great views on a sunny day, and really relaxing to sit by the canal. There is a covered deck area outside which is great for meals as long as it in warm (it's partly covered). The menu has a lot of choice but isn't over facing and is really good value for money. On this day I opted for the steak, which was cooked to perfection. Mum opted for the Italian chicken, there really was plenty of food for the value. Have since also been for Sunday lunch and again, plenty of food and excellent value with a choice from 1-3 courses. There are quite a few real ales on at the pub, tried the Doom Bar and it was excellent. The pub has had a really good tidy both inside and out. We'll be back again soon. Bands seem to be well advertised for each weekend and so I think food and music will be our next visit.

We discovered this pub serving food purely by chance on our narrow boat holiday. All the moorings outside were taken so we moored by bridge 18 and cut up Hardman Street to make a booking for the evening. The friendly landlord suggested the Vaults room, being a bit quieter than the Lounge. The place looks more like a pub than restaurant, BUT we shouldn't be so quick to judge. When we returned he had set out a table for us complete with flowers, etc. The menu offered very reasonably priced food so we all had starters and mains. To say the quality & quantity exceeded our expectations is an understatement! You need to be hungry to manage 2/3 courses but they're just too good to miss! The whole meal was amazing and the prices of the food & excellent drinks were very reasonable. We just did not expect such good food to come from such a pub. It was delicious. One of the best meals we had during our 2 weeks holiday! Our compliments to the chef resulted in his appearance with a chocolate lolly treat for us all - just about had room! If only we lived locally..... Thoroughly recommend this to anyone. Brilliant landlord & chef, well done.

I've had Martin's food before when he was chef at The Top Pub in Brown Edge, so I was looking forward to sampling it again in The Foxley, of which he is the proprietor. Really first rate rib-eye steak, full of flavour, served with very crispy crunchy chips and a fresh salad with mushrooms - I loved it. My wife had the gluten free fish and chips and was amazed at the quality of the batter - she was equally impressed. Everyone was friendly and I can't fault the lovely canal view. Well worth a visit!
