Bloom Hanley in Stoke-on-Trent

It’s probably the best cocktail place I’ve been to in a long time. Me and my mum went for drinks and snacks . The waiters are very friendly and polite.

Booked for food and drinks. Paid £10 deposit to book. Arrived and ordered 2 cocktails, shortly after ordered our main meals. After about 20 minutes someone tried to give us a starter we hadn't ordered, when we said we hadn't ordered it they looked at us like it was our mistake. A few minutes later a different waiter tried to give us the same starter- the one who had taken our original order. Again we said we hadn't ordered them. They were then given to the table next to us. 10 minutes or so later I thought I should check our food was coming, when I asked I was told there was a problem with the tickets, they apologised and said they'd take the drinks off our bill. Appreciated this, however we asked how long food would be as we needed to be at the theatre at a certain time. Again, they went away to find out and could only say 'it'll be a while'. We asked how long 'a while' is and they just kept saying they didn't know and the chef had lots of other orders. It was a very odd conversation which gave the impression they didn't want us to wait as if they were saying they couldn't make the meal. So in the end I said should we just finish our drinks and leave because you can't make them and she said yes! Others around us seemed to be having similar problems with food. A couple asked about desserts they'd order that hadn't arrived and another couple had one main arrive a good 5/10 minutes before the other! As we left a group leaving greeted someone and asked if they were having food saying 'you'll be ok as long as you just want drinks!'

Friendly staff, the food was lovely really enjoyed it and cocktails and mocktails were really nice. The offer of 2 cocktails for £10 is a good deal and really makes a difference.

Four of us booked for Bottomless Brunch for a friend's birthday. Staff were friendly and attentive, cocktails great, the food service let them down. We ordered a dish each, plus some fries and garlic bread to share. The fries and garlic bread came out first, followed by our meals - which were ALL wrong! The meals all had to go back so we ate the fries and garlic bread first so they didn't go cold, then the meals came out one by one. The last one didn't arrive until the rest of us had finished - not an ideal way to share a meal with friends!

Only went in once they had a sign at the front 'wait here to be seated' so we waited and waited. Staff could see us but no one came to us so we left. So most likely won't try again.

Charlie and Lucy were unreal. I came all the way from Liverpool and these girls couldn't have been more welcoming. I had lovely cocktails, and would genuinely come back because of these ladies. Thank you

We used to go to bloom all the time, over my last 3 trips I have noticed it getting progressively worse! Since it's been taken over it's tatty and run down! Today, drinks were not nice at all and these used to be the best in town here and Newcastle! Service was ok, extremely slow to try and get service though and I ended up having to go up to find staff just chatting at the bar? The drinks we were served came in dirty glasses, asked to be changed no issue and the waitress was apologetic and removed from the bill but it was honestly no where near on par with how it used to be taste wise, tasted odd and nothing like a pornstar martini! Really disappointed and honestly don't think we will return now! Such a shame for something that once was a great business.

I'm absolutely disgusted in how my fiancé and I were treated tonight. I've been in the house for 2 weeks with an eye infection and this was my first evening out , as I'm starting to feel better. I was told I was too intoxicated to be served , I told the waitress I've had an eye infection and she just replied we have a duty of care . How rude to be treated this way .

They could do better! Don’t get me wrong the cocktails are lovely &value for money and the staff were friendly but… I had some poor service when booking in advance and even the day before they still had my booking wrong (they did change it eventually) We were a med/large group for a hen and they did not have enough champagne flutes. The ones that were served to us were wet. Only had about 3 staff on so cocktails took along time! Has great potential just needs better execution.

2nd time we visited. {As the 1st was fantastic.} We booked bottomless tea, arrived & it was not too busy, seated straight away. But that is where the positive ends. Service so very slow, cocktails were just not nice {no idea how you can ruin them} Food plates were not removed once we had finished, tables were sticky. Just not pleasent. Glass size as you will see in the picture, we're halved. Ended to only having 4 drinks in 2 hours, then waited 30 minutes for the bill So dissatisfied. Told the staff, to be told "yeah short staffed". So £40 later and not at all impressed

Wow this place went downhill fast since the new owners.. been here numerous times over the years and attended for medium night recently. Idea and actual medium event was great, but the service and quality of bloom itself has plummeted. On entering the (I guess) manager just wanted to inform us on various options to spend more money, baring in mind a ticket for this event was £20 each, wasn’t interested in seating us until I asked where are we sitting ‘oh yeah you can just find anywhere for 2 people’. Good job we arrived when we did as the set up for people to tables didn’t look to have been figured out either. Ticket to event included a free drink which we didn’t get until the night was FINISHED due to very few staff and poor service. Don’t think it’s actually the staffs fault, don’t understand why you would put 2 staff on for a fully booked event but I guess this is another cutting cost idea. Constantly reminding people to get to the bar and order drinks before event starts, or to stay after for further drinks all felt very pushy (and cheeky considering it took the full 2 hours to even get my first drink). Once the event started they were unable to serve food or drinks which is fine as they were the respected wishes of the medium. But ensuring all your customers have drinks beforehand would have been ideal. They recently posted about struggling for business etc, which understandably is a very difficult time but I can’t help but think they have implemented too many cost cutting ideas and this has impacted quality of service and the entire place. Things like the medium event etc would be great for bringing new ideas to the place and growing business but really need to look at the basics for them to be successful. Such a shame. Jess (I think, lady with black hair) and the young man attending the bar were as helpful as could be given the circumstances they had to work with.

The servers and drinks were gorgeous, the lady was so nice and completely didn’t deserve the verbal abuse given by a customer when she stated she could not serve their daughter water as they did not provide an id to prove their age, thus complying with UK laws. I didn’t have any food, however in the past the food has been great, their hummus was the best in my opinion.

Absolutely pants (being polite for a change) no one in here, now I know why I was with my wife and 2 girls 21 and 18 wanted to see ID even though the youngest only wanted a bottle of water. They wouldn’t serve us and their attitude was disgusting. Try Desire 1 minute walk from there lovely staff and much better atmosphere

Afternoon tea booked through an offer site but we paid £30 for what probably cost Bloom £5 max to pull together and looked like had just been purchased from Tesco! Quite disappointed but not surprised unfortunately. Last time we give this place a chance. Staff were lovely but they need to up their standards with the food.

JESS WAS SO LOVELY, slayed boots the house down

Visited last week before me and my wife went to see Pretty Woman, No draught beer, no steak, no mushrooms, no Mac and cheese, no spring rolls and no sweet and sour bites, ended up having the hanging chicken kebab which had 4 cold pieces of chicken on! My wife had a show stopper cocktail, there was nothing show stopping about it for 9 quid, we had a 90 minute time slot, ended up less than half an hour before I paid my 80 quid bill and left. Our first time visiting and most likely our last which is a shame because aesthetically the venue is very pleasing on the eye but not pleasant experience.

Brilliant staff nothing too much for them. Drinks on time & nice relaxing atmosphere. Great service and friendly staff. Had a fabulous time here!

Apologies this is late ... Went in May So I booked brunch at Bloom for a joint birthday get together, there were 5 of us. We when stepped through the door the staff were amazing, I had bought a cake and they took it from us and would bring when we asked. They make sure you get value for money. Food and drinks were amazing, the staff were constantly making sure everything was perfect. A big thank you for making this fantastic. Definitely recommend.

Lovely impromptu meal. We hadn’t planned ahead but we felt very accommodated. Great food, great staff.

Food was delicious and for us the service was great. There was a lot on the menu that they had ran out of because of a menu change pending. Howvere we did a few tables leave because they had waited to long to be served.

Well, we have never been for Bottomless Brunch before so didn't know what to expect, but we were more than surprised with the food and drinks. The staff were absolutely fantastic and made sure we had our moneys worth of drinks. They made us feel so welcome and looked after us and even came and sang happy birthday ... an amazing experience, thank you xx

Came here tonight for a hen party. Couldn’t fault a thing. Even though the place was busy, the food all came out at a reasonable time and was delicious. Tried a few different cocktails and all were lovely! Will definitely be back!

AMAZING!!, food was amazing as were the drinks but regardless of this, the staff made my night. Lovely lovely staff and highly recommend. Thank you for being part of my 50th birthday and making it special. Will defo be back.

After been here a few times and having decent meals, I was incredibly disappointed on my last visit, to the point where I won't be returning! We waited over 40 mins for food, from a reduced menu, despite it being very quiet. When the food did arrive, it was barely edible. The chips were uncooked and the katsu chicken curry was burnt. The sauce (which was watery and tasteless) had been poured all over the chicken, to disguise the fact it was burnt! It was so bad, I left at least half of it! £15 for an inedible meal - I was not happy! I have tried to email Bloom twice to complain but have been ignored! I definitely won't be returning!

Hands down, worst Mojito I've ever had in my life. The service was slow at best as most staff were sat down and some poor lad was left on his own making all the drinks himself.

We have just visited this evening and had a catalogue of issues. When ordering our food, several items on a fairly small menu were not available due to it being a Sunday apparently... We therefore ordered what for most of us was a second choice meal and all seemed OK. However, just before the meal came out we were told the mint dip wasn't available so would we want any other sauces. We all made our requests which for some of us was our third choices. When the meals came out they had mixed up all the sauces, the chilli sauce was in the wrap for somebody who doesn't like spicy food and the other two were incorrect but still would have been OK to eat even if this wasn't what we ordered. We asked a member of staff for the spicy wrap to be remade and for something to be done about the bill as we had been waiting a long time by this point with three of us eating and one of us not. An 'acting manager' came over and was extremely unapologetic and gave the impression that the spicy wrap would be remade and not included on the bill. Another 10 or 15 minutes passed and still no new wrap and we we were then told it had been taken off the bill but they weren't expecting to remake the wrap and refused to do any more. In summary, one out of four meals was correct, three were wrong. Very poor service so they lost out on a dessert order and additional drinks. On the plus side the cocktails were decent and the KFC around the corner was perfectly adequate to fill a gaping hole. Very poor and we won't be returning.

Came here on Mother's day only to find there we're loads of items sold out on the menu due to a busy weekend! Well considering you have to book a table that's very poor planning on the part of the chef. We ended up ordering just fajitas as there was nothing else available that we wanted. It took over an hour to get fajitas!! It was 7pm and not even busy!! We were given cheesy garlic bread which we thought were free due to the long wait until we heard the table nearby asking where they're cheesy garlic bread was! What a shambles!!

Server came over with the treasure chest shots of jammy dodgers and explained they had no smoke. We opened the chest and it was 6 tiny shots of cocktail that spilled out into the chest and no smoke. The £15 price tag for this was outrageous. They tasted okay but weren't wowing. Next issue food - ordered 6 x mini plates, garlic mushrooms (told sorry we have run out of mushrooms), ordered prawn skewers (told sorry we have no prawns). The mac and cheese stated it had bacon bits on it, as a veggie I asked if I could have no bacon bits on mine if possible. The server said we've changed the menu it doesn't have bacon bits on it anyway so I thought great and ordered that. Mac and cheese came out with what looked like bacon bits on top, I asked the server if she would check if this was bacon, she didn't know and ran to ask the chef. Turned out they were vegan bacon bits so this was fine but again not a great experience. Halloumi fries were fine, mac and cheese was fine albeit a bit claggy, humous and bread fine but nothing special, katsu chicken that my friend had on the other hand was awful. She took 1 bite and said something felt off and couldn't eat it. The food just felt like re heated freezer stuff that had some pretty flowers and greenery topped on it. But at £17 for 3 small plates is not ideal. Still waiting for our cocktails we ordered when we arrived, we asked if were these were nearly ready - clearly they had been forgotten about and came out after 30 minutes. Cocktails however were very good and that's why I've given Bloom 2 stars instead of 1. Then the bill, I had to walk around to the bar and ask for the bill as nobody came to check if we wanted anymore drinks etc. The bill was completely wrong and had 2 cocktails on there that we didn't order, and 3 for £17 plates hadn't been added correctly either. Twice the bill had to be correct and there was an overage of about £30. All in all we paid £69 for food that was partially inedible, 6 small shots of a cocktail that overspilled into the chest that had none of the aesthetics it was supposed to have, 2 cocktails which were good and very slow/non existent service. Date of our visit was Friday 1st March - I had booked for the 2 of us so booking can be found if anyone does read this review at Bloom. We were so looking forward to having a girly night as we are both working mums who hadn't been out for ages. We were left really disappointed, no apology, no gesture of goodwill offered for all of the mistakes made. In hindsight I should have said something at the time but I didn't want to spoil our evening further, and it really did feel like the staff weren't bothered as they knew about the mistakes. We ended up in wetherspoons afterwards which managed to salave our night... wetherspoons!

Visited 01-03-24. My daughter had booked a table for 2 for my 50th birthday and on arrival, was given the table right by the door. We asked if it was possible to be seated elsewhere as it was cold, to be told "no im sorry, we're fully booked this evening" (there were lots of other tables for 2 still free at this point so I don't see why they couldn't swap us). It took a while for anyone to take our drink order, and about 15 minutes after that for our drinks to arrive. After receiving our drinks, a party arrived who had made a booking for 6 people. Staff clearly hadn't thought the seating arrangements through, and asked us if we would move to the window table (facing outward into the street like at McDonalds!) so they could accommodate the party of 6! We refused as we didn't want to be facing the street with everyone watching us eat. They then said we could move to a booth (which they miraculously found even though they were fully booked) and we felt we didn't have much choice, so moved. After waiting a further 20 minutes and STILL no one came to take our food order, we cut our losses, paid for our drinks and told them we were leaving and no longer required the table for food. We weren't the only people in there dissatisfied that night. The attitude of the staff that evening was appalling, as was the service. There was no organisation. I suggest to management that maybe a customer care course might be wise, because customer care was definitely lacking. I may also suggest more than one bar person if you're a cocktail bar, as making multiple cocktails takes time and means people are waiting for their regular drinks order. *bare in mind you never know when you might get a mystery shopper*

We visited on 1.3.24 after recommendations from a friend we had reserved a table. What a disappointment. We stood for almost 5 minutes waiting to be seated (there was only 2 small tables seated, so not busy and the 2 waitresses were stood at the bar talking). We were then seated and it was 15 minutes until we got to order drinks which they then took more than 10 minutes to arrive (lemonade and tap water, not cocktails) We were then told we needed to move tables as a bigger booking had arrived which they hadn’t prepared for prior, to which when I declined the table they offered (both sitting facing outside like mcdonalds) The girl rolled her eyes, huffed and walked away until she found an alternative. We were then sat at our new table and another 15 minutes had passed (so we’d been here over 30 minutes) and no food order had been taken. At this point we’d had enough, paid for drinks and left, this service isn’t professional, i’d of understood a little more if they were busy but at the time of us coming it was not. 2 other tables also paid for drinks and left when we did due to poor service. Would not recommend or try coming back again, maybe the other branch have nicer staff.

We came in on Valentine's evening after what must have been a rush of dates and girls' night-outs, and the staff were still attentive and fast with our food and drinks. 3 choice small plates menu was delicious (as usual) and depsite being out of stock of a few things we were looking to order, our server was very kind and apologetic, offering us a free drink off of our bill to compensate. I can't remember the name of our server, but he was fantastic and deserves the recognition after what I can imagine was a very hectic day. Will be coming back again. :)

The pork belly was not crispy and cold in places, as was the Katsu chicken, it seemed like all the starters we preprepared and reheated badly. The other starters, prawns, hummus tasted out of a jar so there wasn't much to go wrong. It then got worse, the mains were brought to the table, the sirloin steak, had a white tinge to it, looking like it had been boiled not seared and tasted awful One of the hanging chicken kebabs was raw in the centre and had to go back to the kitchen. Both of the kebabs, now cooked, it looked like the chicken had been cooked and then a sauce poured over them so the sauce wasn't cooked. I would expect a kebab to have been cooked on a grill given a sear / char to the meat, yet it tasted like it have been cooked in a microwave (maybe that's also how they cooked the steak). They didn't taste good, leaving an almost raw garlic after taste in your mouth. Finally, the vegan burger looked again like it had been reheated badly and tasted uncooked. The meal seemed it had been prepared by someone that had no cooking skills or equipment that didn't work correctly. I was offered a free beer and one of the mains half price, I didn't really complain as I was so embarrassed in front of my customers that I didn't want to make a fuss. Since leaving the restaurant I have left messages for the owner to call me to discuss these issues as I feel it was such a bad experience that they needed to be aware of it - no one has returned my call. We chose this restaurant based on the positive reviews and I am just amazed reading them that we could have had such a bad experience. But that isn't the worst of it, the fact that I have made the effort to share this with the owner and they haven't deemed it important enough to call me is incredible. I hope it is a one off, but without hearing and accepting feedback, I suspect it will not be the last.

Really more like a cafe than a restaurant. Bright lights, not very atmospheric. Service rather sketchy. Food pretty awful - 2 of us had chicken fajitas. No sizzling, hot chicken with onions and peppers here, tacos not warm - underwhelming. My chicken gyros had about 4 miniscule bits of chicken, salad, virtually no mint yoghurt and was bulked up with a load of chips (wrapped up inside it!!) - dreadful. One person had the 3 small plates and these were probably the best bet food-wise. Would not recommend. Lots of groups in there drinking cocktails and shots - maybe that's its target group.

went on a date with my boyfriend on friday, Service was lovely and decor was really nice but we both ordered burgers and they were out of stock on both bacon and pulled pork , and just wasn’t worth the price , to the same standard as a food truck really Drinks were lovely though

I don’t know why they are charging £20 for afternoon tea as it was made up of low quality shop bought food. We asked for a vegetarian option which was served mixed in with non-veggie, which was inappropriate. There was only one sandwich option for veggie and non-veggie, both of which were mostly mayonnaise. The cakes as mentioned were shop bought and dry. The only drink option was regular tea, and staff were very reluctant to give decaf as well as caffeinated. Overall it was a really poor afternoon tea and I would not recommend it.

Went here before Christmas for my birthday cocktail with my partner, it was quite and the lady who served is was lovely and polite it says please wait to be seated but she was very busy and didn't notice us but we sat down and she apologised for not seeing us but top cocktail and very nice atmosphere will be coming again

The last visit was excellent. This time we felt that we were in the way expected to be served.

On arrival we were greeted by a young gentleman called Matt, who made us feel very welcome by offering drinks and food, which were on top form! Being on a first date and being nervous as it was I would recommend this place to anyone - friendly staff, good environment and an amazing drinks and good food menu x

Went here with friends to celebrate a birthday, wish we had not bothered, no cutlery to eat food with no one available to bring cutlery to the table had to wait for someone to walk past to ask for it. food was awful, chips cold, garlic pizza bread hard as a rock, one plate had an insect crawling on it which we gave back and they just put the food on another plate , mocktail glasses were dirty. Really really disappointed would have got better quality food from wetherspoons and at a fraction of the price. Definitely won't be returning in a hurry

2 hours before I had booked the table for, a phone call from Bloom to cancel my booking due to a problem with the chefs. This is the 2nd time the Bloom Group have left me high and dry to find somewhere to eat. Bloom Newcastle cancelled due to a group booking being more important that current bookings. We have supported both Bloom restaurants being small businesses and have always enjoyed the drinks, food and staff. But lately being cancelled isn't great. Lets hope the trend wont continue.

What a fantastic afternoon. The delicious cocktails just kept flowing. With 13 revellers to attend to the service with a smile was excellent. We certainly got our monies worth and will definitely be returning.

We went as a large group for the bottomless brunch. We had an amazing time. The waiters were friendly and accommodating. The drinks just kept flowing. Definitely value for money. Would go again.

Another top notch visit for bottomless brunch. A lot quieter on a Sunday but this was good as the experience is a bit less rushed to a Saturday visit. Josh and Ian were very friendly, super helpful and very accommodating. Food was as good as ever. Tasty, fresh and enjoyable. Drink as always were fab. Ordering was a breeze and they were on top the next cocktail before we had finished the previous. Keep up the excellent work 👏

A lovely bar with great food and cocktails. There were 4 of us who had several small plates, they were all very tasty and good portions. 2 had off the normal menu and 2 had bottomless brunch mocktails which is great value. The cocktails were lovely and we'll made. Our server Josh was lovely and went out of his way to check everything was good with our table. The bar had a great atmosphere and I'd definately recommend for food and drink.

Fab. Food and drinks were lovely. We visited bloom in Hanley today a group of 6 of us. We asked if we could sit outside instead of in like we had booked. They said yes no problem. We were served by Josh who was fab. Couldn't do enough for us. Really friendly, chatty and funny. Would defo recommend a visit

Nice, relaxed surroundings, wide range of cocktails, bit limited on draft beer, but also sell bottled. Pleasant service. Didn't eat on this occasion, but have had the tapas previously and enjoyed the food.

i love this place so much, been many of times, my go too for a bottomless bruch. Wouldn’t go anywhere else!!!!

We had a lovely experience with the bottomless brunch. Chloe was a fabulous waitress and ensured that we were catered for and happy all the way through. There was a good variety of drinks and Chloe was very knowledgeable. The good served was lovely.

In one word... Poor! The food was lovely. 90 minutes bottomless brunch was ridiculous! 4 cocktails had in that time and that was only because we had to keep asking as we felt the staff was ignoring us and made to feel like we was an inconvenience from the staffs rude manners! Won't be returning.

Food was average at best, cocktails were nice but overpriced, service average, disappointing.

The Starters were fine, 3 sort of tapa dishes.... for £15, but smaller and not as good as Pesto. Main course was very disappointing..... it was supposed to be Beef Chilli.... but I could not find any beef at all (not even a hint of it) haricoat beans and a meaty tomato sauce without any meat. The quantity of Chilli was small and dwarfed by white rice and general green foilage which they add to all dishes. Cocktails at nearly £9 were fine. Service was great if not a little overpowering and the constant; 'Everything OK?' and 'Anymore Drinks?' gets tedious after awhile. We detest as old age pensioners being called 'guys'. Would I go again... with new chefs?.... no I dont think so.
