Stopped here for early evening meal on way home from North Derbyshire. Find your own table and order at the bar. Good quality pub food, good sized portions. Served quickly. If passing this way again looking for food would most certainly return.

What a lovely and lucky chance to call up for an over night stay with motorhome in car park. We caught up with friends and had our meal here. All worked to plan from the warm welcome from landlady, I think Coranna, I’m sorry if this is wrong, to the range of beers being good and the cold wine. We had lovely freshly cooked dinners, no sense of being hurried to finish and leave. Great attentive service. A plus for us was chance to service motorhome for fresh water etc. Thank you.

A great Motorhome stopover free if eating at the pub. It’s very popular with the locals so get there early as the CarPark was full by 7pm! Ring ahead to confirm and book your table. The food was excellent, good size portions and the best prices in Derbyshire! Staff were extremely helpful and friendly as were the locals we met. Had a lovely evening! Close to the Trans Pennine Trail for lovely walks. Dogs not allowed inside bar/restaurant but plenty of seating outside, some under cover. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

Called here for lunch and had two dishes off the light bites menu. My creamy mushrooms had no cream and no melted cheese despite the description on the menu, and taste like tinned mushrooms. Worse still my partner's lamb kebab had glass in it. We sent it back and were then told it was sea salt despite my partner spitting it out having chewed on it - wrong colour and shape. The 'chef's proceeded to shout from the kitchen that it was salt not glass. I use sea salt and it wasn't. It was knocked off the bill. The chips were burnt on the outside and raw in the middle. An experience never to be repeated.

We phoned a couple of days before arrival to book an evening meal for 3 people and asked if overnight parking was free if we had food, we were told yes.We had to order food and drinks at the Bar. not COVID RULES. My wife paid and noticed that they had charged us £10 for the overnight parking. When Challenged the staff said paring overnight was not free even though we had bought £55 worth of food and drink.after quite a bit of arguing and challenging the point that they advertise on several motorhome Facebook sites that overnight parking is free if you food. and me putting the issue on a couple of those sites which they obviously saw we were in the end given our tenner back. the two Romanian staff who served us were really nice and we really felt sorry for them. they had to take the flack that the unseen management had caused. The food wasnt the best either . The hunters chicken was bland and with a mushroom and one bad tomato . wont be going back

Our last visit earlier in the year the food was fantastic and we enthused to everyone that they should go. We had gone on a recommendation. We have just been again on a Saturday and the food was shocking. I dont know if it has new owners but the standard of the food has seriosly gone downhill. The pie and chips were terrible. It was cafe standard and the price should dictate this. White 'French fries' served with salty pie and gravy. We all had the same and none of us will be going back. Is it new owners????

We booked a table for two on a Monday night for 7pm. On arrival there was a queue from the bar down the corridor and leading outside which we joined. the couple in front had been queuing 30 minutes! None of us knew why we were queueing or what the hold up was. Everyone seemed to have booked for the restaurant and the queue gradually got bigger. No staff member came out in the corridor to apologise for the delay. I suppose we all put it down to Covid 19.Some behind us were disgusted and left. When we got into the bar area it became apparent that without being seated we would have to order at the bar. No one showed us to our table to order. Very strange. the couple in front of us ordered fish and the two fish dishes were 'off the menu'. So was the pie of the day. This left very little main course options. I asked to see the manager because by now we were absolutely appalled at the lack of service. There were only the two people behind the bar available who were serving drinks and taking orders. No manager. having said how angry I was at how we were being treated the bar man had said they had been busy earlier in the day. Fine. But it was the evening. Where were the staff to show us to the table? Where were the staff to apologise to us for having to queue in the corridor like cattle? Why was there little choice on the menu? This is no way to run a business. Absolutely shocking which is why so many would be customers left before getting served.

We called here on our way to Norfolk 2 weeks ago and only wanted a light lunch. On arrival we were surprised to see that they wanted us to order at the bar! Under Covid regulations they should be taking orders at the table. We were told to sit where we wanted and there was just one table that was socially distanced from the rest, so we sat there. We couldn't believe how crushed together the other tables were. Social distancing is 2 metres between PEOPLE, not tables. And the tables weren't even 2 metres apart. The hilarious thing was that they had a large stand saying that they practise social distancing. They had no idea of the meaning of it. Then a woman from the council came in and told them what they were doing wrong, and what they must change, but judging from the comments here it doesn't look as though anything has changed. The reason for 3 stars is that the sandwich we had was excellent. Lots of filling and very fresh bread. The portion of chips was great too, although when we asked for vinegar were were given a bottle instead of sachets.

We arrived at 6.30 for a table booked at 7. Queued for 30 minutes to get in the pub which was empty. No excuse just bad management. Ordered food and most of it wasn't available. The only excuse was it has been a busy day. I wish i could make people wait this long at my job just because I'd had a busy day! We walked out and went somewhere else. Never to return. We booked a table for 6pm for 4 people (2 adults, 2 children (11 & 9) - all eating from adults menu), sat down and within 5mins knew what we wanted so queued to order. 45minutes later we managed to get to the front and started to order only to be told that half the menu was not available. After ordering, we sat down at our table and waited, and waited and waited. An hour later, our food arrived. By this point the kids were starving and would have eaten anything including the cold fries, inedible coleslaw and horrible onion rings. The only explanation we were given when we questioned the wait was "we are busy" no apology.I'm extremely glad we didn't pay full price, we will not be going back. Avoid at all costs.

we booked a table for yesterday evening. When we arrived we were told which table to sit at .We werent told how to order due to social distancing but assumed that someone would come and take our order to lessen movement.I noticed that someone else was ordering at the bar.I went and waited at the bar to order .Nobody was wearing face masks and were walking all over the place with no attempt to social distance. The girl who served me didnt even stand behind the screen at the bar.Another girl brought our drinks ,cutlery and condiments. She just leaned over us and the same when bringing our food. They just passed it all over the top of us.I was just about to start eating my food when i noticed a long hair in my food. When the girl came back with the starter i asked her who had long ginger hair on the staff and gave her it. I saw her show it to another girl who started to laugh. She came back and asked if i wanted another meal which i refused as i didnt want to keep the rest of my companions waiting.I was then told the head chef had put a drink behind the bar for me. I said i was ok as i was only drinking water and didnt need another one.People sitting on table behind us were so close our chairs were all nearly touching. The menus were handed to other people after us without being wiped with any cleansing products.I was going to speak to someone about it on the way but decided against as i didnt want to have the other customers disturbed . We sat near the kitchen door and heard quite a lot of laughing and swearing which was a bit thoughtless. The food was actually quite good but spoiled by poor service

As we were camping across the road at Kelham Hall, we decided to pre-book for 8 people 4 days before our visit. There were 2 orders placed (2 families) at the same time for same table. Large amounts of the menu was unavailable, apparently due to a walk-in table of 15 people earlier in the day. 3 meals came out, an hour later we were still waiting for 5 meals (2 of which were children aged 5 and 7). When we asked the waitress where the meals were she enquired with the kitchen. We were then asked what we ordered as the chef had no idea about our order. We asked for our refund as it now 7:15pm and the little ones were now starving, to be told that suddenly our 'missing' meals were nearly ready. We declined and walked out. Bar staff were extremely apologetic, but not a good first impression and certainly won't be returning!

The warden at the campsite raved about the Fox's pizza's, so we thought we would give one a try. What an utter disappointment. We ordered by phone and went to collect. On our way back we bumped into another guest who said 'I hope yours is better than ours was last night' And I have to say I've never had such a poor pizza. Small, tasteless and burnt is the only way to describe it. So disappointed with what we paid £12 for. I've had better cheese on toast. Do not buy pizza from here.

We came here for breakfast, shocking service. We ordered hot chocolate and latte. Got brown water. No saucer or teaspoon. Sent it back. Breakfast arrived, mine was stone cold. Sent it back. My husbands was definitely below parr, deep fried sausages, fried egg that had broken and been under a hot plate for some Time as it had a lovely shiney skin on it, beans and tomato were like warm. No butter with toast. We were refunded the full cost of this meal, but was astounded that the waitress who was instructed to give a full refund had the audacity to argue that we had had drinks. Reluctantly she did refund the full cost.

After having one of the worst Sunday lunches I have every had (to be fair they didn't charge me for anything including drinks) a few months ago before the lockdown, I thought I would give the Fox Inn at Kelham a second chance and went along for Sunday breakfast. The front of house staff (most of whom appeared to be schoolgirls earning a few bob) were pleasant enough but even though there were only two other tables occupied, it took around 40 minutes for our food to arrive, after I had said I would only give them another five minutes and I would want my money back. That's another thing, pay before you eat???????The food, when it eventually arrived, was OK, although the sausages were overcooked and the mushroom was so minute and shrivelled, it was barely recognisable as a mushroom. This pub clearly has serious problems in its kitchen, there doesn't appear to be anyone in charge and they will not be seeing me again.

Took a trip into Kelham today specifically to visit The Fox Inn for breakfast. Arrived at 11:32, and asked for the menu only to be told that they stop serving breakfast at 11:30. It was pointed out to the member if staff that the pub website states that breakfast is from 08:00 to 12:00 and also that the sign outside the pub states breakfast from 08:00 to 12:00. I was blown off with the excuse that they stop cooking breakfast at 11:30 to prepare the kitchen for the main menu at 12:00.The staff member then acted the martyr and asked the kitchen staff if they would be willing to prepare breakfasts. We left - I do not take kindly to be treated like I am an inconvenience. Either keep the kitchen open to prepare breakfasts until 12:00, or change the times shown on the website and signage to reflect the actual times that food is prepared and available. This was our first and last visit to The Fox Inn. Definitely not the way to win and retain customers.

We came as a family as camping at kelham hall for 5 nights. We brought our child who's 13 but very fussy eater. Asked if we could have the gammon but with just mash and not chips and didnt want the egg or trimmings. The chef said couldn't do this even though there was mash on the menu on the cheaper meals and was prepared to pay the full price so had to order the gammon with chips and he only had the gammon as doesnt like chips. I asked for the haddock and wasn't any available, my wife wanted scampi and tartre sauce and told no sauce left. Last time in as will cook on the campsite in future.

Have eaten and drunk here a few times with mixed success. Tonight we decided on an impromptu visit so phoned to book a table - no problem, and it wasn't busy when we arrived. We placed our order to be told there was no vegetable curry available. No problem, opted instead for veggie burger with melted cheese on a brioche bun with slaw and tomato relish and fries.Among the orders was also a children's chicken nuggets and fries with a choice of peas or beans; we opted for peas.We sat outside and were told that was fine. The food arrived. No peas with the nuggets and fries. Asked about them and was told by the waiting staff that she could get some. We also asked for salt, vinegar, sauces etc. By the time they were brought out (peas included) we were more than halfway through our meals. The veggie burger was ridiculously small and tasteless and my meal literally consisted of the small burger with a small amount of cheese on the small bun along with a large handful of fries. No thought given to taste, presentation or the coleslaw and relish that were supposed to accompany it.I fully appreciate that by going on an Eat Out to Help Out night we saved a significant amount but I honestly could have (but wouldnt) made myself the same meal at home for less than a pound. I will say that the other adults enjoyed their fish/sausages etc. and had a decent enough serving, albeit without sauces. For desert the cheesecake was nice but the warm chocolate brownie was cold. I was too put off by my main to bother ordering anything else. It's a real shame that the owner of this pub is content to let it slide along with clearly little support or training for the staff.

We have been to the Fox a few times and I can never fault the food - which would be rated at least a very good if going for a meal was only about the food served!Unfortunately the service recently has been shocking! We had to wait a good 10 minutes at the bar as the bar staff were getting drinks orders wrong (or forgetting what they had already done), waited again to see if there was a table free - to be told (after the staff member had nipped into the kitchen, come back to me to ask what she was doing) "yeah just sit anywhere" - no details taken for track and trace, no attempt to separate the tables for social distancing, no masks/visors etc worn by staff serving food/drinks and no sanitiser left in the pumps outside. We had a long wait for food (possibly made longer due to the fact the waiting staff didn't seem to know where anything was going - most of the food had a trip around the restaurant, outside and back again before finding the right table!! I literally watched what I thought were our mains have a full tour of the place before they reached us). Cutlery just put straight onto the table - nothing to keep them sanitary. And to top it off we (and other diners with children) were treated to hearing swearing from the kitchen! As previously said, the food is great, it's just a shame about everything else going on around it! Things have to improve to keep people coming back.

Sadly our visit to the Fox on 22nd July 2020 was very disappointing, the building & grounds look great & the front of house staff were very pleasant. We ordered fish & chips & when they were served they looked fantastic, we put salt & vinegar on & my wife noticed bits in the vinegar, the bits turned out to be small fly's !We reported the problem to the waitress, she took our food & said they were making us fresh ones, we told her not to bother, we checked a second bottle of vinegar on another table & that one also had fly's in it !!!! One bottle could have been a simple mistake, 2 bottles with fly's in is incompetence. Amazing pub in Kelham with close links to all. We have been before last year and can definitely tell there's a change of management and kitchen staff. We arrived and it was busy 2 lovely young girls at the bar Jolene and Leigha seemed to be running the place all on their own and doing a fabulous job of it. A lot of running back and forth for them but they smiled and laughed for the whole night. Times like this is was nice to see.We had our details taken and was given the guidelines for COVID-19 (impressed as to how it was all handled). We ordered drinks and food, which was lovely not a scrap left on the plates, portions are large and very fresh, we continued to order drinks throughout the evening and the atmosphere of the pub was calm. We had a round outside on the picnic tables which are nicely spaced out (not so much for the staff doing the table service). Had we of decided to eat later we would have tried the wood fired pizzas they smelt and looked great, but we will save this for next time. Overall a very pleasant visit and we will return soon again. Thanks girls and keep up the hard work.

Welcoming friendly staff, good food, clean loos ( always reassuring! ) ..can see some mixed reviews on here and whilst the food service may have been a tad slow, it was worth the wait and not any chewy old bish-bash-bosh rubbish like so many roadside pubs these days We would def go back. Probably make a special trip out in an evening instead.

Popped in for something to eat at about 1:30 on a Saturday. The restaurant was pretty much empty, save for about 6 tables (out of about 50) Service at the bar was slow despite no queue (no idea where the staff were) Then our food took 40 minutes to arrive, it was only 2 burgers. Won’t be coming again.

My partner was picking some equipment up from Newark so we decided to stop here for tea on way.The tables were laid with cutlery and napkins. I had the chicken, leek and ham pie which was delicious. Loads of chicken, and nice gammon type ham. My partner had a cheese burger (which had the thickest burger in it, perfectly cooked throughout). And for my little boy I ordered sausage and mash from the Children's Menu. Now, when I ordered it I thought it's going to be one of those crappy sausages with 1% meat, and smash. But I was pleasantly surprised it was a locally sourced meat sausage with lovely real mash, peas and tasty gravy. He demolished it all!Really impressed, would definitely recommend and go again myself.

Nice pub with extensive beer garden for when the weather improves. Large areas for dining with quiet areas as well. It has a separate bar too. You are welcomed by a list of things to do in the area and a table full of magazines. Staff were pleasant enough. We hadn’t booked a table but decided to eat. Waitress recommend the homemade burger which was a nice touch. The menus has some tasty stuff on but in my opinion for the quality we had it was overpriced. If your charging top end prices for pub food the food needs to be spot on. My partner ordered fish and chips which he said was delicious. My daughter ordered scampi and chips which she said was delicious too. My son ordered a plain burger and chips off the child’s menu. Sadly he wouldn’t eat the chips as they had the skin on. The burger wasn’t good. It was hard around the edges and I’m not sure why! I’ve never seen anything like it. Not great! I ordered chicken pasta. The pasta and sauce was cooked beautifully however the chicken was soooo tough and dry. I left majority of the chicken but ate the pasta. One thing that also irritated me was they brought the food then had to disappear to fetch the cutlery. In the meantime our food is getting cold. Best of it was the bar staff were not busy and looking for jobs to do, filling jars. Why wasn’t it set before the food was brought out. We had to ask for condiments too and wasn’t aware they had specials on until we left!! We would have had pudding if the two out of the four meals hadn’t have been poor, however we didn’t based on the fact that 2/4 is average to me. Lastly not sure when the ladies toilets were last checked but there was dry blood on the seat!! For me dirty toilets are a big no no! This pub could be great with a few tweaks and better trained waiting staff. No excuse either as they were not busy.

Been meaning to try this place as often driving by so decided to give it a go. My friend ordered a very hearty Roast Pork dinner and I opted for the Chicken coriander. I really enjoyed my Chicken and as we both felt rather full we had to decline on a dessert. The staff were friendly, willing to please, no complaints. Would visit again.

We might have chosen the wrong food! We ordered the Chef's Green Tai Curry. It had so much salt in it was inedible. We had asked if it was a chicken dish and maybe we should have probed further after the staff said 'I think so'. Easily solved - Send the chef back to school or sack them. There is a clause known as 'irredeemable incompetence'. Yes! It was that bad! When asked by the waiter if our food had been ok we did raise the matter and said that neither of us could stomach the dish. It was just completely ignored. With regard to any reply from the owner - we are not bothered because we will never be back. Our advice to you is to get it; right first time, and if you slip up as this can happen of course at least have a recovery plan in place i.e. how to deal with a complaint.

Bought drinks at bar and then led to table. After 10 mins asked waitress if we could order; 35 mins later still waiting for food. There were 2 parties of 8 or 10 per table being served and other tables filling up. Young waitresses seemed to be wandering about aimlessly until the young lady in charge told them to do something. went to the bar to enquire whether we were getting food to be told well we've got 2 big tables so there's a wait!!! Several more people were waiting in the bar; I said it was ridiculous and we would be leaving, Not recommended at all. Felt sorry for the girl who seemed to be in charge but was obviously not supported by whoever ran the kitchen. With many years experience running hotels/restaurants etc I feel I am qualified to write such a poor review.

First time visit and one that really was very pleasant indeed. Cosy warm atmosphere with what seemed like two bars and a games room. Both bars were very well presented and would be welcoming when busy. As it was a lunch time visit it was a little quiet but none the less enjoyable. The staff were friendly and helpful and gave you the impression that you are welcome visitors. The food selection was ample and wasn’t to disappoint when served. I can recommend the fish finger baguette. Homemade fish fingers were a delight. Hot, tasty and filling. An evening visit is planned as I’m sure with more people the atmosphere would just as warm and welcoming as lunch time. Lovely pleasant visit, to repeated soon.

We had our Christmas party on Saturday 7th December. Originally we had booked to go to Kelham Hall on this date, but due to lack of interest for "Bring a Party to a Party", we were given the option to go to The Fox Inn instead. We were a little disappointed and didn't really know what to expect, but we needn't have worried. We had a BRILLIANT evening! The food was fabulous, the staff were lovely - nothing was too much trouble. We can't thank Jason & Richard enough for making our party special despite having to organise this for us at such short notice. Thanks again from all of the staff from Newark Hospital operating theatres.

Called in for an on spec pub lunch. Ordered our food, sandwiches no less, no mention of a wait. An hour later we asked where our lunch was to be toldIt would be 5 minutes. 10 minutes after that we left without eating. It’s even more annoying watching trays of food being sent into a private party for the AA. The young kids behind the bar were run ragged with complaints and cancellation.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon, the pub was very quiet so it was no issue getting a table. The lady behind the bar was very friendly and welcoming and handed us menus to take to our table. Plenty to choose from on the menu varying from breakfast, traditional dishes and lighter snacks. We chose ‘The Fox Burger’ and ‘Chicken, Ham & Leek Pie’ both of which arrived in a good time and were large portions. The chips were absolutely perfect, proper pub chips! We were really pleased with our choice of pub lunch, only observations are that the dining area had abit of a ‘canteen’ feel about it and the toilets are in desperate need of refurbishment but overall it’s a very nice country pub serving good food.

Food was very good, presentation excellent. Good choice of beers. Table service for Sunday lunch was very slow. Sat with menus in front of us for so long, went to the bar to ask if we needed to order at the bar, after which they came to the table to take our order. Would have rated very good or even excellent if the waiting staff had been more attentive.

Visited today for lunch - absolutely disgusted!! Bar service was very very slow!! Decided to have food, told that the wait would be 20 to 30 minutes - Ok not a problem. We waited, and waited and waited. After an hour of waiting and asking several times where or food was - nothing was forth coming. We got our money back and left. I do not know how pubs can afford to offer such poor service. I visit pubs/restaurants on a very regular basis and this is one of the worst I have ever been to. AVOID AT ALL COSTS - there are many other pubs which offer a much better service, and you actually get food!!!!!

Atmosphere non existent. My husband and I called here for a meal after a very long journey. I had fish which was ok, and my husband had Hunter's Chicken which was mediocre. Quite pricey for what they were. My husband was violently ill some hours after the meal which lasted most of the following day. He had had nothing else to eat, so it could only have been the chicken. We would not eat here again. Too big a risk to health!

It was a toss up between a fish and chip takeaway or going out for tea so we decided to go out last minute and thought we would give the Kelham Inn a try. The staff were friendly and attentive, but the food sadly let it down. My husband’s was okay, but have to say the scampi meal was not good. My plate consisted of six pieces of scampi (and far too many chips which tasted like they had been cooked in old fat) It stated on the menu it was home-made tartar sauce, but it was clearly out of a jar! Not even a wedge of lemon to liven things up! A real shame... and it was really quiet for a Friday night with no atmosphere.

It was a quiet evening when we met friends there so not a lot of atmosphere on this occasion. An excellent choice of beers including local brews. Wide selection of pub food available, well presented, good sized portions (too much for my wife) and at a reasonable price. My steak & ale pie was delicious. The least popular dish was the meatballs but generally we all enjoyed our dinner. The landlord was welcoming and looked after us extremely well and we will certainly return to try other options from the menu.

Stopped off at The Fox, my husband enjoyed some well kept beers and I had a nicely chilled coke. Then after seeing all these generous plates off food passing us, we decided to try the pizza. They have an authentic pizza oven behind the pub, where Alex cooks delicious pizzas. We decided to have ours as a takeaway and were not disappointed. They were very nicely cooked with plenty of topping. Jonathan the friendly landlord took on the pub 18 months ago and has transformed it. Somewhere for couples and families to visit, with a play area for the children. Definitely will go back again.

This pub was recommended by the receptionist at Kelham after our "Meet the Meerkats" experience. The service was a little on the slow side, but the food was delicious and well presented. I came to the Fox in July for my mums birthday, we had pre booked for a table of 8 for a 7pm meal. We were the only table in the restaurant except one other table of 6. It was quite warm outside and the outside area was busy with the takeaway pizza from people camping at jel ham hall. They did not have a wine menu which was a shame but there was a good choice of food on the menu. We ordered our food pretty much straight away for starters and mains. The starters took over an hour to come out, they were very big portions but food tasted nice. We then had to ask THEM to clear our plates after half an hour after finishing and then it took over another hour for our mains. By this time my Nan who has dementia was falling asleep as it had gone 10pm. I had taken in a birthday cake and asked them to bring it out after our mains, the cake never came so I asked them again and the staff said they were sorting this. After another 20 mins I went to the bar again and asked them for the cake back and we would do this at home. It was still in its packaging so they hadn’t been preparing it as stated. The male manager was really apologetic but the 2 young female staff were awful and really looked like they could not be bothered to be there. I used to go to the fox regularly under the old ownership as it was a nice pub that catered for all ages but I don’t think I would go again.

We stayed at Kelham Park, which I would highly recommend, went to eat at The Fox, the staff were all very friendly and polite. Had the wood fired pizza, sat in doors, the table was sticky when the pizza arrived it was very pale and insipid looking (under cooked) and only just warm, with a lack of topping, No condiments were offered, no cutlery. We did ask for it to go back in, it had just been put back in to heat through a little more. Disappointing as The Fox is a nicely kept, friendly place. Maybe try from the main menu!!!!

Just got home from having spent two nights staying at the Fox Inn to celebrate our wedding anniversary , wondering where do I start the review? I was a bit apprehensive about the stay, my husband booked it which is a first for him so decided to go with the flow,Well I have to say he can book our next break from now on. The Fox is situated in a great location to explore the surrounding area and the pub itself is very welcoming and friendly, Jason and his team are an asset to the business helpful, friendly and informative, very accommodating towards our needs, the bedroom albeit basic was very comfortable and clean, would be ideal for a family or group of friends to spend time together, kitchen and sitting room plus 3 bedrooms. Then the food,FANTASTIC, the chef really knew how to cook and serve top class food, we needed to be staying a lot longer to go through the menu because of the excellent choices. We always try different places to eat in the areas that we visit but this time we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner on each day at the fox even though that meant returning from our excursions. Would love to think we will return to stay but one thing for sure if we are passing we will call in to eat.

The staff worked tirelessly i don't know how they did it if im honest. This isnt the first time i have eaten at The Fox and i have been served by Tracy before who i find very helpful and cheerful. I saw the review left by Abbie F... I was sat on the next table to her group who complained all the time they were there!!! grass cuttings, huge ugly container, meal not right and everybody else finishing theirs before her.She was the one who was RUDE. I also overheard her calling the waitress the most horrible name......YOU ABBIE ARE A HORRIBLE PERSON.

We stopped off here as a family as it was en route, the place is lovely. Beautiful setting, fantastic food and some of the staff are very polite and welcoming. Unfortunately we were served by ‘JUST Tracy’, whom moaned over the counter about being ‘too busy to eat’ on her previous shift, and was rude whilst serving...she then brought out our food and was again extremely rude about us having more than 1 condiment pot (between 6 people). She took the other away, leaving us with not enough and when we asked for more she told us to go back to and get them. One burger came with sauce even though we asked for it without (genuine mistake) we asked for it to be taken back and we were met with a sigh and attitude. My sister in law went to get more sauce then went through to the bar to complain, ‘JUST Tracy’ then shouted at my sister in law stating that the outdoor condiments were OUTSIDE. Absolutely disgusted with the service. Might I add that the other staff were lovely and the chefs were exceptional. This is a rare family outing as I myself work for the NHS, my partner works for the prison service and my sister and brother and mother in law work for a private healthcare sector. I feel that we were very unlucky to have been served by such a rude lady as the rest of the staff were fantastic. Please do not be put off by this post, but ask the name of your waitress...and if it’s Tracy, leave.

Having visited this establishment on a number of previous occasions it was my choice for my birthday meal with my family. I wish I hadn't bothered. The pre ordered food was dried up and the steaks were incinerated beyond being edible. The service was poor and when I explained to the staff about the appaling meal I was met with "I will have a word". With some very special celebrations coming up over the next 6 month THE FOX AT KELHAM will be bottom of my list.

We pitch our motorhome at Kelham Hall for long weekends quite a bit and used to wander over to The Fox to be greeted by a dingy pub and uninterested landlord who gave us the impression we were a problem. We stopped going in the end. Since the refit and new ownership, we're regular visitors for Breakfast, Lunches, and Dinner. The breakfasts are great when we can't be bothered to cook in the motorhome and it's nice to be able to get something different to the normal full English too. Great traditional pub grub the rest of the day and a choice of real ale too. The newly grassed outdoor seating area is brilliant for our large party when family join us too. What's also brilliant is that if we just fancy a quick trip out for a meal, we can stay overnight in the carp park in one of their motorhome parking spots. This is now one of our favorite stay over spots.

Absolutely awful. The worst hotel experience I've had, still frustrated we actually stayed there. Rude and unfriendly staff, disgusting rooms with no heating, bricked walls with no insulation, dirty duvets covered in rips and holes, ridiculously loud, people banging from 5am, by that point we'd had enough and left. Not forgetting the awful smell of grease throughout the hotel, receptionist wasn't helpful at all and didn't want to change our room even though she gave us a different one to what we booked. I'm covered in bites from bed bugs, disgusting. Easily the dirtiest and worst hotel I've ever been to.
