My husband had a lovely meal in September with our sons and their families and raved about it (sadly I was poorly). on a visit to Dunwich heath and beach we then called and booked a table for 4.30pm. The greeting was lovely what a fab menu I chose Fish pie and my husband had belly pork, both dishes were amazingly good portions and delicious… we both had pud of cheesecake and crumble which again were a good size and delicious, I cannot recommend this restaurant enough and can’t wait to eat there again when we are in the area. Brilliant service

We received a warm welcome on arrival at this cosy village pub. We liked the sound of the menu, and as we were eating a bit later, the extended food serving hours worked well for us. Portions were generous and good value. We had fish pie (delicious, real conforting food, roast carrots were really good).and chicken burger (very good with added bacon, nice fries, and coleslaw which was overall ok, although it was heavy on the raw onion, not to everyones taste!) . The pudding menu looked good, but we just couldn't squeeze in. Some nice local beers to accompany. We will definitely return!

We were a group of 4 staying locally. We had cycled in to Southwold and popped in to the Fox Inn on the way back hoping to get an evening meal. We hadn’t booked as we didn’t know what time we would arrive back. The pub was completely full so we ordered a drink and had to sit outside even though it was raining. We had resigned ourselves to cheese and biscuits when we got back to our accommodation but the bar staff had remembered us and came out to let us know they now had a table for us. There was also a group of six who were waiting to see if they could have a table too. The staff were so friendly and thoughtful- nothing was too much trouble. The food was fabulous too. Thank you for looking after us so well - would definitely recommend this pub/restaurant to anyone!!

We decided to try the Fox Inn while staying nearby. It was easy to find and clearly a popular pub (we went on a Wednesday evening) as parking was a little tricky. Walking in we were met by a very pleasant lady who explained that all the inside tables were reserved but we were welcome to sit outside. The staff were generally attentive and helpful, and our dog was made welcome too. We started with a simple, but tasty and well-presented olives and bread sharing plate. Our mains were sea bass, which was excellent, and the day’s special. This was a spiced chicken fillet burger which was also excellent. We would happily go back if we were in the area again.

Happened upon a sign on the A12 boasting great homemade food served all day. As we’d been let down by other pubs in the area we thought we’d give them a go. Welcoming and friendly staff and a menu offering starters, nibbles and mains awaited and we weren’t disappointed. Generous portions at reasonable prices. The Fox has kitted itself out well for COVID precautions and have extended their outside seating and dining area to reflect this with both covered and open spaces. Enjoyed a grilled chicken and avocado burger with chunky chips and a homemade slaw; honey mustard sausages; halloumi fries; squid and a ploughman’s too. Highly recommend.

Lovley place and food really good staff and owners very welcomeing although Manager can be a little cold at times. This place has become very popular due to its food and warm welcome, well from most anyway. Obviously Pubs these Days as we all could never survive these Days on Wet Sales and this must be appreciated. However when you go in to a pub especially early doors and enjoying a very well kept point and have to move two or three times to accommodate dinners, you do feel uncomfortable and that perhaps you should not be there. Unfortunately with the winter being here you don't have the option to sit outside and with the limited space inside this establishment and the well deserved reputation for thier food, things can only get worse for the customer that just wants a quite beer without being moved from table to table evey few minuets, worth a visit for the odd beer, but be warned!!

Triple cooked chips, more like quadruple cooked chips... and to perfection too. Then I had a bit of chip, a bit of fish, a bit of mushy pea and a bit of tartare sauce on one fork. GAME CHANGER.

My earlier review of this pub seems to have dissappeared so here goes again. We had booked a table for 8pm on a very wet evening. Firstly, my beer was "off". This was exchanged but then the food arrived. My wife had the house special, a rump steak (£20) and I had fish and chips. The steak had to returned to the kitchen as it wasn't cooked to our liking and the fish and chips were very greasyand looked like they had been reheated , certainly not freshly cooked. We should have left then but it was getting late and pouring with rain and we were hungry. We ate what we could and was offered one free desert as compensation. We can't understand how this pub had so many good reviews and even more surprised to find our review was not published.

Fantastic pub, New owners took over in June, although you wouldn't notice. I don't know if the Current Management have been in this line of business before, but they certainly know what they are doing.Even during these very uncertain times they have managed to turn this lovely village Establishment around. I was in the licensing trade for 18 years, now retired. I have also lived in this area for for the same number of years. Dropped by as we saw the signpost off the A12. We ordered fish and chips and the chicken / bacon brioche. My partner queried the price when he paid due to the current drop in vat but was told there isn't any price reduction. No vat receipt was offered. Food arrived and the landlady came to check all ok, I queried the vat issue and she said (quite rudely) that he was under no obligation to pass the savings on to customers. We're on a day out so I don't really want a debate in the pub garden. They don't HAVE to pass on the savings but isn't it a pity to take that attitude when we are all trying to support the local businesses AND get people back out as customers. My brioche bun was burnt, as was the bacon and our triple cooked chips had seen way more than 3 rounds in the fryer I think. Perhaps they were just having a bad day but we wouldn't recommend or return.

We saw a sign on the A12 to The Fox and decided to stop for lunch today. We're so glad we did! On arrival, the landlady was friendly and welcoming. We both decided to try the guest beer from Soham, called Victoria Red and it was very good. We had the battered cod and chips which was perfectly cooked. The home-made tartar sauce was the best I've ever tasted. We followed up with the sticky toffee pudding which again, was home-made and very tasty. We would definitely go back again. A very good pub serving very good food!

Caravanning at Priory Farm Darsham and as we drove to site on Saturday morning noticed that the local pub was open and busy, what a great sight. Still a little apprehensive of getting ‘out and about again’ we decided to walk up to The Fox Inn for lunch today. It was a lovely surprise, a warm welcome with all the relevant precautions in place. Got our drinks and ordered our lunch, fish finger brioche bun and salad. Wow! Best fish fingers ever, sorry Capt Birdseye, with a lovely salad. If you are in the area then we can thoroughly recommend a visit. Well done The Fox Inn.

We were staying at Mill Hill Campsite this weekend. The Fox is the closest pub and there is a lovely safe walking circuit through the countryside which took us about 15 minutes. There is a lot of outside seating and the staff are very friendly. The food was excellent and the Covid measures they have in place are easy to follow and it feels like a safe place to be.We had a couple of great visits on our weekend away and would highly recommend. We couldn’t find a menu online but phoned before hand and the menu was told to us over the phone.

Just reopened tonight and with new a new pub landlord. Even with some c-19 restriction, the service was great, friendly and organised. I ate a bowl of chips only, but the food looked very good. A friend ate the burger and another fish and chips and said it was v good.

Visited the Fox 🦊 inn for an evening meal. This inn is an old traditional pub. Very old and characteristic roaring fire and quirky. Great home made food on daily blackboard. Would advise to book. Will go back again when in area.

Very pleased with an evening meal, having booked a few hours earlier from a nearby B&B.Small, cosy very traditional pub, landlady running the bar, and we believe husband is the chef? Our meal was excellent value, good quaily food, and presented with care, which showed. Could have been home cooked (by someone who can cook, not reheat!)The menu was quite varied for a small pub, again showing some thought, and the biggest problem was choosing which of the several temptations to go for! We look forward to a return visit.

What a great pub. We were staying on a nearby campsite and walked to the nearest pub , which is this fantastic Fox Inn. Really friendly staff and patrons . Decided to have dinner here. Good choice on the menu. My husband had prawn cocktail followed by fish and chips. I had salt and pepper squid followed by steak and kidney pudding. Really speedy service , food was piping hot and absolutely delicious. The meal couldn’t be faulted and we would have tried their desserts but just too full ! It’s rare to find a proper pub serving such good ‘home cooked ‘ food. Well done to the team at the Fox Inn . You should be very proud.

We stayed in nearby Darsham Old Hall in May this year and had dinner at the Fox Inn on two occasions. We have also dined there in the past when on holiday in Suffolk. We really like this pub. It may be small and unpretentious but is all the better for it. It really does feel like a genuine local pub used by local people as well as holidaymakers. We have thoroughly enjoyed all our meals here. Everything we have eaten has been cooked to perfection using high quality ingredients and we have always been made to feel that our custom is genuinely appreciated. Hopefully this welcoming little pub continues to thrive for many years to come.

A small pub with a big heart. A very warm welcome from Nell and the blazing log fire on a cold night with a lazy wind. There may only be about 8 tables here but there is plenty of dining space and the food is excellent. I had my favourite steak and kidney pudding with a great selection of lively fresh vegetables and new potatoes. The white bait to start was very tasty and fresh. The ale (Adnan’s best) was beautifully kept and a great compliment to the meal. To finish I had a nice bowl of rum and raisin ice cream and passion fruit sorbet. My only observation would be that the coffee was a little strong. A tasty meal and a lovely evening. We will be back.

This is a super little pub for good, honest home cooking! Clearly a favourite with the locals, it has a simple decor , but is dog-friendly and serves generous portions of great food. We had local pork steak in cider and steak, ale and mushroom pudding that was one of the most delicious I have ever had in a pub. It reminded me of the ones my grandmother used to make! And do find room to try the Baileys and cream cheese cake for dessert. Heaven on a plate!

It's a dog friendly pub/restaurant which was good for us as we had our pooch with us that day. There were quite a few choices on a blackboard menu and the restaurant was quite busy which appeared to be a good sign but we were disappointed with the main meal of sirloin steaks. The steaks were certainly not hung for a decent amount of time which would account for them being quite tough and grisly. Very poor as were the greasy onion rings. A good steak meal should be delicious with a thick steak, some interesting vegetables instead of just peas, mushrooms of a reasonable size and not tiny little things with no flavour. Sorry to have to be negative but it was so disappointing. I would rather pay more and get a decent steak. Service was very good and the young man who served us was very pleasant.

Sorry to say it was the worst breakfast I've had in the cafe. But if I pay £15.10 for coffee and full English I expect the highest standards. Bacan was so bad I couldn't even eat it. The picture says it all. Who would serve a customer food that looks like that. Lovely staff but all they did was apologised for the drop in standards.
