For a change my wife and myself decided to eat out on Christmas day and keep it local (walkable from our home) and booked The Fox and Badger back in the Autumn as its known to us and one of two establishments open for catering. The pre booking included menu selection, selecting our wine so no rush on the day and registering my wifes Gluten intolerence. There was just the one sitting so no rushing by staff and the diners, the tables were reserved by name and adorned with the crackers, poppers and named reservation place settings, the background music was not intrusive so able to converse with the next table near neighbours of ours. This was a 10 out of 10 day for us.

We booked a table for Sunday lunch with friends when staying up near Bromyard one weekend. The Carvery has a selection of meats and then a choice of vegetables you help yourself to, as is normally the case. The meat was plentiful and beautifully cooked, as were the vegetables. A helping of rich, tasty gravy finished off the lunch to perfection. This lunch is extremely good value and comes in options of one, two or three courses. We had 2 courses and to be honest that was as much as we could manage! The staff were friendly and helpful and this is excellent food at an excellent price.

Went to the Fox and Badger for Sunday lunch. The place was packed, and total chaos reigned, but if a place is packed it must have some kind of attraction. We found a table at the back of the place, and were told that we might have to wait a while while the carvery was restocked. While we waited we were greatly entertained watching the staff race about with steaming trays of delicious looking pub grub. Then came the meal, and it was well worth the wait. Wonderful ! and for pudding a fantastic Eton Mess. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. If you can take a bit of organised chaos, please give them your custom. They deserve it, bless em.

Very disappointing. We were ignored when we entered. Eventually we were given seats in the very dark & depressing back room with grubby tables & ripped black fake leather seats. At the carvery the meat was very good but the broccoli in particular was over cooked. The vegetables were not ‘serve yourself’ like most carverys and the lady serving just used her hands!!! It was inexpensive and very obviously a local eatery for local people

Since last reviewed, the lunch menu has changed emphasis to meals rather than sandwiches (though those are still available) and - judging by our visit - it's been a successful move. Hubby had Crispy Mushrooms to start and I had the home made pâté. Partner's fish and chips were good, son's lasagne described as reasonable but my duck was very odd - thin slices, too spicy and thick sauce and very well cooked (as in not pink). Went to Bromyard to meet family and do a treasure trail. From looking on the website I was expecting a nice country pub however it's front looks more like a shop than a pub. Inside it's got two halfs, a sports bar at the back and the food bit at the front almost like their aiming at two different types of customers. I'm sure at different times of the day each part will have different atmosphere but when we went on Sunday early lunch it was quiet, with a lovely waitress and great food that was good value. There was 8 of us who had fish and chips, scampi and chips, sausage and mash or kids fish fingers, chips and beans. All were good sizes and good quality. I had a cheese and tomato baguette which i had to send back as it had pieces of ham stuck to the bread. Not very nice as I'm vegetarian. Clearly a reused baguette which is worrying from a food hygiene perspective. To be fair the girl serving was very nice and apologetic. What came back was an inedible over- microwaved baguette with crusty cheese that was dried up at the ends. I wouldn't eat here again if you paid me. popped out for a quick bite, the same evening the Bromyard Christmas lights were turned on, managed to snag a table even though they were very busy. 3 of us ordered and were pleasantly surprised with how quick the food was. the food itself was very tasty, I had the duck and mash, my word. top eats. always something to try on the menu and always look forward to going back. always recommend to friends that haven't been yet. super hot drinks too and a fully stocked bar.

Looks a little strange from outside. Went in. Decent ale. Better food. Price was very fair for the portion and quality. I'd recommend it to anyone

We found this place by accident on Sunday so popped in for lunch. We loved the decor inside and thought the menu looked good and good prices. We ordered our drinks at the bar and sat at our table to look at the menu. We were the only people sat in there. I went to the bar to order and the girl behind the bar didn't really seem to know what she was doing, a lot of looking at the menu then tapping away in the computer. We ordered the steak and ale pie and a lasagne. Shen then asked if I could manage the drinks to the table myself, that's fine but you'd think as we were the only ones in there she might be a little more helpful! We waited about 20 minutes for our food to come out. In this time the girl that was behind the bar arranged and re-arranged the bottles behind the bar several times and just wondered around! Our food came out and it looked lovely. You do get value for money that's for sure. I had the lasagne, it's meant to be homemade but the sauce didn't taste it. It tasted like s cheap sauce from a bottle. On the plus side there was plenty of cheese on it! The chips were more like French fries but nice all the same. My husband had the steak and ale pie, he said it was very nice. It came with chips and peas. There are sachets of sauces on the tables but it's the cheapest of the cheap and does spoil it a bit. At the prices they charge I think they could stretch to a bottle of Heinz. Even weather spoons do bottles! All in all it was a nice meal but I wouldn't rush back. Staff could be a little friendlier and much more helpful.

Food is a high level pub food. I had a steak which was surprisingly excellent for the low low price - cooked perfectly! Will visit again - good to find somewhere like this in Bromyard. Not a rip off!

I've called here when passing a number of times over the past year. Best coffee consistently within 20 miles, their own blend. Food is always fresh and full of flavour, cakes home made, and always a warm welcome. I always look forward to the next visit.

We have walked past this bistro style resurant many times, always saying that we would give it a go. We did just that on a lovely Saturday evening and having tried it now we will carry on walking past. Its bigger than we expected but with no atmosphere at all, the room at the back is made into some kind of sports bar with a snooker table and pool table. Its shame really as it looks as though it is trying to be 2 different places and it does not work. We was told when it vwas the No 1 on Broad street it was nice but it is now under another name of the Fox and Badger. Now onto the menu and food, an extensive menu choice with plenty of variety, we opted for 2 meals from the £10 menu, the food was well prestented and warm, however small portions. A small egg cup size of salad, some chips and the main meal. We've tried it now and we thought it was ok, but would not re visit again, we have spoken to others that have been recently and they hold the same view, which is a same as Bromyard are crying out for a reasonably priced decent place to eat.We would score a 5/10 for the Fox and Badger, a quick message to management, enlight the staff on the importance of customer service and attention, a smile and a bit of attention goes a long way, it even shows that that may even enjoy there job!!!

This is an unpretentious, bistro-style restaurant and bar in the centre of Bromyard. The menu is not extensive but the food is nicely presented, well cooked and excellent value. The wine list is short but the wine we had was fine and again good value. There is a games room and bar at the back for the younger set. The staff are welcoming and very pleasant. The restaurant has been renamed from No. 1 at Broad Street to The Fox and Badger. We would definitely dine there again on another visit to Bromyard.

Stopped here for dinner on a long journey home having failed to find parking and being turned down elsewhere ( hotel had a large private function on). Thank goodness. This is a great place to eat. Yes, it's quite small, as another reviewer pointed out, but there were only 2 of us. The staff obviously love being at work and were friendly and fun. The menu is varied and caters for everything from light snacks to full dinners - all listed by price so easy to navigate. I had a mixed grill and without exception everything was cooked perfectly. I wasn't expecting the world for £8 but the gammon and the steak were meltingly tender and the black pudding was superb. And the chilli and lime cheesecake finished the meal beaufifully. We had 2 main courses, 2 desserts, 2 half pints and a pint and one coffee for £28. We will definitely be back in June when we go to Wales again - there are so many things on the menu that we want to try.

We had previously visited No 1 Broad Street so was surprised to see that it had been renamed the Fox & Badger. The food menu was priced clearly and our meal was well presented. It was good value for money.A special mention must be made to Danni who was friendly and who worked very hard from taking orders, serving food, cleaning tables etc. She was popular with many of the customers and we hope she will be there when we return later this year.

We were staying on the Malvern View Country and Leisure Park for a weekend stay which we could not fault. However, we dined at The Old Barnhouse on the Saturday evening and unfortunately the food was terrible. We waited for nearly an hour and when the food arrived it was half cold. My mother and father had scampi and chips, no peas and they were out of tartare sauce! My sister and I had the New Yorker chicken which consisted of a huge portion of coleslaw that wasn’t very nice and the chicken was small and if poor quality. My daughter had a kids pizza, chips and beans which was just about acceptable. The five meals and a round of drinks came to over £80 which was appalling for the quality of the food. Avoid The Old Barnhouse for food! Pleasant enough for a drink.

Rude, extremely disappointing, shocking and disrespectful staff! We arrived after making a booking the day before. I booked 2 Adults, 1 child aged 2. The booking itself was pleasant. We got slightly lost, rang in and again very pleasant. Arrived 7 minutes late and walked into a very ‘local’ pub feel. All eyes on us. We were told by the bar person that they were glad we found them. A woman appeared and looked at my Grandson and commented ‘we don’t have highchairs’ I commented that I’d booked ahead with a child on the booking? She said she would go down in the cellar and dust something suitable to bring up then asked me if I had a chair in my car???!!!! We approached the bar and I said I was confused as I’d booked a child ahead of coming. I was ignored, I said once again and the younger woman behind the bar looked at me and in a slightly raised voice utttered ‘well, yes she’s gone to get you something hasn’t she!!’ Based on this experience I told my Friend we were leaving as being treated like this was way beyond acceptable. I wasn’t happy and I let it be known! My Friend and I were left shocked and felt we had been treated appallingly by 2 extremely rude women. Whilst we were putting my Grandson in the car the older women came out and further patronised us with her offering of a dusted off cellar chair and we told her that her colleague was vile and it had gone beyond the chair. She walked off. Having read through the reviews I can see hands have changed and so this may be why I didn’t receive the reputation I had heard of. I have the feeling they felt they were above us! I’m not easily impressed so their Morgan cars and gold large Baroque chairs only further deepens my suspicions that they think they’re better 🤣🤣
