Great food, great staff. All food ordered for all 6 of us was amazing steak and ale pie was the best ever tasted, scampi, cod, sausage and mash, best chips in a long time. Great quality and service.

The food was absolutely fantastic, didn't expect top quality food from a local pub. The outside decor should not be judged. The beef stifado was the best I've ever had. The pie is to die for. Sticky toffee pudding was the icing on the cake

To be honest, it looked a bit rough from the outside and a bit inside, too, but we visited on 3 evenings, whilst in the area, and had no problems with either the clientele or the staff, who were very welcoming and helpful. There is a restaurant out the back and, although we didn't eat there, the food that was served in the bar looked good. Give it a shot!

When visiting Heacham for a few days we had two evening meals at the Fox & Hounds. Both times the food was lovely. Even better was that they were offering a 50% discount on a variety of food on Mondays and Tuesdays if purchased with an alcoholic drink. Unfortunately the restaurant was almost empty so there was no atmosphere but would still recommend.

We came here to try the in-house ales on a Saturday afternoon and catch the football results. The girl behind the bar was friendly as were the locals but sadly I wasn’t a fan of the ales. The pubs a little run down but nice enough to pop in for a drink.

We have been visiting the Fox & Hounds for a number of years and the food is very good especially the home made specials, the live band nights are a treat as there are not many places that do this for free, there is a quiz night on a Thursday which is a good night out. We have always found the staff to be friendly and we enjoy our visits there.

We visited the fox and hound this evening, with our 2 children. When the food came out, the chips were all hard, not cooked. The lasagne was very watery and treated horrible. My steak was undercooked, I asked for medium rare, it came out totally uncooked in the middle. We told the boss about all of this and he was rude. We refused to pay and the children went hungry. Avoid.

Not the best pub we've ever visited but not the worst either. Cheap pool table, reasonably priced drinks, even tried the locally brewed ciders - nice, strong! - jukebox in need of major updating as is the decor, but it does the necessary as a good value pub as long as you don't expect the Ritz!

We’ve become fairly regular diners at the Fox & Hounds and as well as it’s usual menu, it offers a great range of specials which often include some exotic and incredibly tasty dishes. There’s a weekly curry night on a Thursday and the home cooked curries are delicious. Sunday lunch is superb and a real treat with a choice of meats and vegetarian options and lots of lovely freshly cooked vegetables. We particularly like that there’s a choice of eating in the separate restaurant area or in the bar itself as they have a policy of not allowing children under the age of 14 in the bar area. It does make a refreshing change to have a choice whether to enjoy dinner and drinks without young children being around. The staff who work here are always very welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The beer is particular good and includes those brewed in their own on-site brewery. We really look forward to our next visit.

Not somewhere I’d go back too. It has its own brewery but the pint I had was awful. The place is in need of some TLC. Try the Bushel and Strike or the West Norfolk first would be my advice.

Thank goodness! This place has not been done up. The bar side of it has received little attention for several years, but is no worse for that. The restaurant room at the back has a bare floor and basic pine tables, but the food was very good. We had the roast beef Sunday lunch - with 9 different vegetables on the plate! We will definitely be back whenever we are in Heacham. Please don't modernise the Fox and Hounds.

Empty restaurant on a Saturday night is not a good sign. I had veg lasagne but was disappointed as it had obviously been microwaved as topping was dried up and crusty, but dish was swimming in watery liquid. I do get fed up with poor quality vegetarian food whilst on holiday. The lad serving us was very young but jolly.

Popper old fashioned scruffy local boozer great if you like your real ale some of wich brewed over the other side of the car park. Great locals and atmosphere although I'm not a fan of a Pool Table in the main bare area. Were going to eat but decided not too was very busy and noisy due to Friday drinking crowd. Could maybe do with a bit of clean to keep my wife happy but to be fair a pub just the way I like it !

First visit to a lovely pub on the road between Fakenham and Swaffham in North Norfolk. A wonderful welcome from two brothers who run the Fox & Hounds and you immediately know they are not Norfolk but from our birth place of Essex. We felt right at home. The food is ordered from a blackboard and is fairly simple offering roasts (as it was a Sunday), pies, fish & chips and ham, egg and chips. The service was very good and the food was perfect. We finished with a sweet from a good selection on another blackboard. The cost for mains is £7.95 so very good value and they have a good selection of beers. The toilets through the public bar were very clean and maintained.

We have just returned from a meal with my Mum and Dad at The Fox . We had our table booked for 1:30 and arrived a little early but we were happy to wait. We had to attract waiting staff to re order drinks and it seemed there were only two staff serving so not as attentive as I would have liked , but a busy day so overlooked. Main courses were tasty if not presented in the best way. When we had finished our mains we were asked if we would like dessert and were pointed in the direction of the menu . Five minutes later at 2:15, just 45 mins after our table of 6 was booked the waiter came out and told us the kitchen had closed so no desserts and would we like the bill !! Not even an ice cream for my five year old !! Never have I heard of a restaurant kitchen closing before they had fulfilled all the orders for the tables that had booked . Making money or keeping customers happy seems not to be a priority. We all left disappointed and will certainly not be returning.

We visited today and whilst their beer is OK the attitude towards having kids under 14 was like going back to the 80s. When we were advised to use the beer garden (filling by a grotty marque which smelt of urine and puke) or front seating (in the car park / lovely) we felt like outcastsWhen will pubs realise that all kids are not little snot bags and inviting families in turns a better profit than the curmudgeonly old bar flies who were holding up the bar. Lovely. Great old traditional village boozer with original stained glass windows. A nice meal..the chef came and asked me how I would like my steak, (since Im very particular.. haha...) and he delivered. The menu is basic but the specials were interesting and varied. We ate, chatted to the barman about the regional real ale he had available and played a few games of pool to the accompaniment of our juke box choices and the quiet chatter of the locals at the bar, all of whom passed the time of day with us.

Attempted to visit this public house for a few drinks then possibly some food, my wife, my baby, my dog and myself.Upon arrival it took a while to get to the bar due to a lot of people surrounding the bar and not really willing to move. Then once able to ask the bar man if we could come in the answer was pretty much No.No dogs in the restaurant and no children in the bar so unable to go in.I afterwards read on trip advisor somebody else had this problem and apparently children aren't allowed in the bar because of one incident with children and the pool table, shame fox and hounds penalising everyone when you should have just dealt with the problem.Anyway it was the fox and hounds loss as we ended up finding somewhere else and we spent 4 lovely evenings in the Bushel and Strike (lovely, welcoming pub)

This was a very pleasant surprise, for the Staff were very welcoming and friendly, explaining what the Pub was all about, different groups had things going on different nights, and normally live music, twice weekly, just like the good times of the past, well done to keep the traditions of Village pub life going. The food was described to us as being home made and the Ale was varied some brewed next door in a small Micro brewery, so plenty of choice on both counts, my wife and I both had the hand cut Ham,with usual trimmings and it came up as we had been informed, more than sufficient to keep us going until, the next day. The locals were chatty and friendly, so all in all we had a very pleasant two hours, and the costs were very reasonable, would fully recommend a visit if your in the area and looking for some good home cooked/made Pub food. Even though I live in Hunstanton and have a 10 minute drive ( and therefore don't drink as much as elsewhere) I still regard the Fox as my Local because it is so good. I usually come for the great Live Music, the on-site brewed beer(especially the Nelson's Blood-which I even took back to my previous Local in London to a great reception) and the friendly atmosphere. I have however had a couple of the Sunday Lunches and they were well-cooked and good value and I will have them again. I cannot believe the Chartland 1957 Review "worst...70's pub"-- -- except for the fact that if 1957 was their date of birth the 70's would be their childhood and hence the childish Review! If you want a "Posh Micro Pub/Restaurant" then move on down the Road with my blessing, there are more than enough of them charging the Earth for very small portions and that will be the place for you. Wow. Didn't know pubs like this still existed......Visited mid afternoon on a Saturday with half an hour to kill whilst the chip shop opened. Four families, seven kids. Bar went very quiet as we entered, lots of evil looks thrown. Barman waited until after we ordered and paid before telling us kids under 14 not welcome and we had to sit outside on a relatively cold and windy afternoon. Made to feel genuinely unwelcome and uneasy despite putting £25 in the till when the pub was quiet. Guess its a locals only joint - if you're visiting my advice would be to spend your money elsewhere. No shortage of welcoming and family friendly places nearby..
