The Fox and Hounds in Leeds

What an excellent find this great lovely little pub with good old-fashioned customer service and excellent staff and great food and drinks. Pubs like this and are dying Breed all over the country. It’s a shame the place has great atmosphere ideal for taking family and friends. Food is excellent quality and cannot fault. I found this place by driving past on the way to Leeds so I decided to give it a try.

Cosy pub and restaurant serving delicious food in a lovely village near Boston Spa. Would highly recommend this for Sunday lunch. Staff are helpful and friendly. A proper old-fashioned village place, which is a nice change!

Please go to Walton snd see their amazing lights ... also drop into the pub for some amazing fish and chips snd choc.brownie. A winter nights delight. Maggie was brilliant.

Went here for a family meal whilst on holiday and was pleasantly surprised by the level of food on offer. Can’t fault the food one bit and our party of five had 4 different choices. All were enjoyed and appreciated. Service was professional and courteous and we would love to return one day.

We went here following a tough day, to relax. The beer was perfect and the food was excellent. One of the best burgers ever for me and my wife's fish pie was very nice. Very attentive and pleasant service ensured a fulfilling and relaxing evening. Highly recommended.

Went for an impromptu Sunday Lunch. We were given fresh Rosemary and seasalt bread and butter prior to eating which was tasty and a nice added touch.My husband had pie of the day which was pork and cider I had Roast pork. The food was cooked to perfection, the vegetables were cooked but maintained bite crispness and a vibrant colour. Plenty of gravy and apple sauce . The portions here are ample and we were not able to eat a starter or a pudding. My husband enjoyed a couple of pints of Timothy Taylors I had a lime and lemon and finished with a cappuccino. The service was excellent and people from different tables ended up chatting to each other the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Will definitely go again!

We got the fish and chips to take away and we were not disappointed. The fish was wonderful and the chips were proper fresh chips. All in all cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend.

In the middle of a long journey we turned up at the Fox and Hounds. A quaint looking place in a tiny village near Leeds. The place and the people were more than welcoming, the beer was excellent and a table for two strangers was no issue at all. The menu was held no surprises, it is a pub after all, plenty of choices though, the wife and I both opted for the steak and ale pie, she had chips and I had mash, I'm a mash potato fan, you can't beat good mash. This is where the surprises started. The pies arrived in fairly short order, proper pies, with proper pastry, not a pot with a puff pastry lid, real pie, made with good steak and great gravy. The mash was good, I do like mash, but the chips, they were awesome, real chips, from real potatoes, with the skins on. So wonderful to see and so rare these days, I wish I had the chips.

A cheeky lunch of BLT in homemade sourdough with tripled cooked chips and a pint. Excellent food and well worth a visit. A very extensive menu to choose from but this was just right for today.

had a meal with my wife here, nice little country inn with excellent food, i had daube beef my wife had home made lamb and mint pie we both enjoyed the meal it was delicious and service was great, also got to give our waitress Maggie a mention, very friendly and a credit to the fox and hounds

Oh my days this was good. Both the roast beef and the roast lamb were really tender. The seasonal vegetables were all cooked really well and we got purple cabbage which was a nice change because we haven’t seen that much elsewhere. The garlic and rosemary roast potatoes were fab and i loved the fact you also get mashed potatoes, who doesn’t love potatoes. The Yorkshire pudding was also banging! The only thing with room for improvement was the gravy was quite salty. We got an extra jug because we both love our roasts smothered in gravy and it did get really salty after a while. Also I would’ve preferred more choice for the starters if we’re being really picky, the choices of soup, pate, brie, Yorkshire pudding and gravy or prawn cocktail were quite basic. We had been told to try a black pudding starter, apparently it’s amazing but unfortunately it wasn’t on the menu The decor could also do with updating its quite old fashioned with red walls, salmon walls, red carpet throughout and dark wooden furniture. I know you don’t necessarily pick a venue depending on the decor but it’s always nice to have a pleasant atmosphere.

We called in on the way back from a weekend away in Bedale in our motorhomes. We called up in advance to check on availability and also as raking for 2 large motorhomes is difficult. E arrived at 1pm and managed to park up easily as there is a large car park to the rear. We were greeted in a lovely welcoming manner and shown to our table. Service and the food was excellent, nothing was too much trouble. We all chose differing meals ranging from Roast Lamb, Chicken, Rare Roast beef and a fish pie. The beef was cooked to perfection and was plentiful. We will definitely visit again. Highly recommended

We popped into the Crown in Boston Spa for Sunday lunch, it was booked out, so we looked at TA and decided upon trying out the Fox and Hounds in Walton 5 mins drive away - best decision we have made off the cuff in a long time - everything about the food was EXCELLENT most especially my wife’s roast beef. And even my pint of Taylor’s Landlord was also spot on. Along with the seriously, crispy roast potatoes, lovely veg and mash too, this was the best Sunday pub lunch we have had in years, and we have had a few, it’s hard to get the meat just right when dealing in volume, but these guys have cracked it and then some! I post rarely and mostly - only - if it’s really worth the recommendation and this Sunday lunch certainly is!

Had an excellent meal in this traditional village pub. Three courses were well cooked and nicely presented. Home made warm bread was a nice touch and delicious.

I popped over for lunch, the pie is great as expected, tasty gravy. Good Yorkshire portion size! The "new" grocery service is good, with a wide range of products at good competitive price. There is some pricing discrepancies between the til and the menu.

Tienen cerdos en mantas como guarnición, ¡increíble! Visitamos durante Coronavirus y el equipo había hecho un gran esfuerzo para hacer que el pub fuera seguro con desinfectante de manos en cada mesa, el personal usaba viseras y pantallas entre cada mesa convirtiéndolas en cabinas individuales. ¡Lo mejor que hemos visto! Had a wonderful dinner at the reopened (for dining) Fox and Hounds in Walton. They have installed excellent glass cubicles around tables and with special menus and visited up staff have risen to the challenges of the covid 19 madness with style ensuring a safe and enjoyable atmosphere. Phil and his colleagues provided attentive service and the locally sourced food with lots of traditional Yorkshire themes was excellent. The Daub of Beef and Black Pudding were superb and highly recommended. Congratulations to Alan's team for bringing fine dining in a safe environment back in our reach.

Decided to try the Sunday takeaway lunch, and I must say it was wonderful, we ordered 2 roast pork dinners & 2 Sticky toffee puddings both were reasonablypriced & were cooked to perfection well done to Gareth , Alan & the team.will definitely order again.

Stopped off here for a quick lunch and what a lovely meal. I had cod with a chorizo and bean cassoulet which was delicious and my husband had lamb rump with veg which was a huge portion but really tasty. A great find!

We visited for lunch and had to wait a little while before receiving any attention to be seated. We were advised that there would be a delay due to serving other diners, although there were not many tables occupied. Our order was taken at the table in due course and we were served with drinks. When the meals arrived, the quality and quantity was very good, but a little expensive.The visit was pleasant, but our overall rating is influenced by the time taken.

If you like your beef cooked pink you must try this place! The best roast beef dinner I have had in a long time. Starters were good, I had tempura prawns and partner had black pudding which looked lovely, but the roast beef blew us both away! Asked for extra gravy which took a little while to arrive but so worth the wait, the flavour was amazing. Staff were busy but friendly, we don’t leave nearby but will definitely be back, worth the drive!

Visited at lunchtime today with my wife. We were told on arrival that there would be a delay on food due to a large Christmas party. We decided to wait. The food did take a long time to come but we were kept fully informed as to what was happening. When the food arrived, it was absolutely delicious. Well worth the wait.

We've never been here before but will be definitely returning!! A lovely country pub tastefully decorated for Christmas. We received a warm welcome and we enjoyed our festive food. Every mouthful was delicious. We were well looked after, thank you.

Visited today with a work colleague (on a trip for Lancashire) but didnt realise food service stopped at 2pm and it was 2.15pm when we got there. We must have looked so hungry as the very kind staff took pity on us and asked the chef if he would make us some sandwiches. Lucky for us he agreed and the sandwiches were so good, lovely fresh bread, tasty fillings and excellent chips. Thank you so much for accommodating us.

Visité este restaurante para reunirme con viejos amigos. Los tres entrantes estaban bien. Mi marido pidió pastel de pescado que estaba bien, yo mismo pedí carne de cerdo que estaba bien. Los otros 3 en nuestro grupo pidieron cordero que cuando lo servían era extremadamente fibroso y grasoso. el joven camarero dijo que lo sentía y fue a la cocina, luego vino el gerente / propietario y dijo que si lo reemplazaban, sería exactamente lo mismo 2 de ellos dijeron que tendrían el cerdo ya que el pollo tomaría 15 minutos. Para ser justos, se trajeron verduras frescas junto con el cerdo. el 4º miembro solo comió las verduras ya que no podía comer la carne. cuando llegó nuestra factura solo 3 fueron golpeados de su carne. cuando la señora anterior respondió, ¿qué quieres que haga? abruptamente, una lección de relaciones con los clientes podría ser ventajosa. Yo mismo he tenido un par de negocios y me gustaría pensar que nunca trato a los clientes de esta manera. He revisado varias cosas honestamente en Trip Advisor, pero no creo que en esta ocasión merezca más de 3 estrellas. tal vez solo un mal día

Reservamos para nuestra fiesta familiar de Navidad, 23 de nosotros. Encantadora bienvenida amable y buen ambiente. La comida era excelente y salió completamente a pesar de ser un grupo tan grande. El servicio fue excelente por parte del personal amable y eficiente. No podían hacer lo suficiente por nosotros. El servicio de bebidas también fue perfecto. Un gran almuerzo disfrutado por todos, volveremos seguro. Bien vale la pena una visita.

¡Está ocupado porque vale la pena visitarlo! Todo el personal fue amable y cordial. Siempre hay una amplia variedad de bebidas y el menú de comida es muy amplio y preparado tal como se solicitó.

Las revisiones anteriores parecían mostrar una operación bien ordenada y bien administrada. Lamentablemente, eso no fue lo que encontré, ni mucho menos. El servicio fue lento y la demora entre cursos glaciales. Incluso esperar una recarga de las bebidas parecía tomar una edad. La comida estuvo bien. . . . pero nada especial y no era tan bueno como varias otras opciones dentro de 10 minutos en coche.

We were looking for a pub as my daughter was a mascot at Thorpe Arch close by, we were welcomed by a friendly gentleman who served us throughout the meal so well . The food was reasonably priced, it was all homemade food which was well presented and delicious.

Plenty of car park space although the pub/restaurant was very busy. Shared some nice crispy prawns and then, for a change, had toad in the hole. The sausages were excellent and the vegetables and roast potatoes were very nice. Finished with a chocolate brownie and ice cream which was a bit decadent. Stumbled across this place while surfing google maps looking for somewhere for dinner, so glad we went, adorable little village called walton nr wetherby and the food was amazing, very large portion and lovely all the same, a little pricey but worth it. Lovely staff and very attentive. Would definately visit again.

We as a family and friends were celebrating a 65th birthday which was a surprise birthday dinner for my Wife, from the moment I made my reservation over the phone nothing was to much trouble for the staff, whilst we stayed in Wetherby the short trip out to Walton was well worth it, though we were surprised by there being 3 speed cameras on the short trip, the choice of food and service by the staff was excellent as has been mentioned by previous reviewers as we all agreed, all in all it was an excellent venue and event and. A big thank you we will remember the evening for a long time,

Visited on spec on a busy Wednesday lunch time, excellent staff found us a table and took our orders, advising us that it may take a little while as other tables were pre booked, but no problem to us as we had met up to talk anyway. The attentive staff kept us up to date with the progress of our order. When the food arrived it looked superb and was absolutely wonderful. My bangers and mash was astonishing, I would never have believed you could get so much flavour out of such simple ingredients, the gravy, my goodness, just so good. My friends were equally impressed with their fish pie and pie of the day.

Decided to treat myself and my partner to a Sunday lunch out at a place I'd been to a few years earlier and thoroughly enjoyed.

Came here for a family reunion lunch. Wonderful greeting from the staff, who couldn’t have done more for us or made us more welcome. We had the pub pretty much to ourselves, no doubt because many locals would have been at the Great Yorkshire Show nearby in Harrogate, but there was a nice atmosphere. The decor was utterly traditional and they have a reasonable selection of draught ales. Loved my fish and chips, and then the apple crumble and custard. There’s a decent sized car park.

First class meal, the black pudding starter was very good. We were made very welcome as the customer service was exceptional.

5 of us went for dinner and it was terrific.black pudding and tempura prawns were scrumptious as was the beef daube. Maggie looked after us beautifully a really good night......again!

We were greeted by friendly staff when we entered the Fox and Hounds, which made a good first impression. This vibe continued when we saw the lunch menu, which was very imaginative and interesting. We went for the 2 courses for £15 deal and what a deal it was! We had the soup, the portabello stack and the black pudding as starters (there were 3 of us), all of which were incredibly tasty and exceptionally well-presented. Two of us chose the ravioli for mains, but there wasn’t quite enough for 2 portions so we were offered chips and a salad to supplement one of the portions. I chose to have just salad, and was given a huge plate of a well-dressed one. Pesto-baked haddock was my husband’s choice and it was wonderful. Everything was absolutely delicious and, again, beautifully presented. There were some nice touches which we really appreciated - a free homemade rosemary bread chunk with butter (it was big enough for us to have 2 slices each) and free cubes of homemade brownie to go with our coffee. All in all a great dining experience.

Looked at Trip Adviser last Sunday, wanted to go out for Sunday Lunch. Read the reviews for the Fox&Hounds; in Walton Wetherby. The reviews were bang on. Three of us went for lunch 3.30pm, The service was very welcoming,nothing was too much trouble, my Daughter is Gluten free, they came with some lovely fresh bread. We asked for Gluten Free, and it was brought to the table in a few minutes. We all had the Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding, My daughter had Gluten Free Yorkshires,Roast Potatoes ,the veg was plenty full,the starters very good choice.We were so full we passed on sweet. Give yourself a lovely treat. Would defiantly go again.

A pesar de ser un fin de semana muy ocupado, tuvimos una excelente comida con una muy buena variedad de opciones en el menú. El vino también era muy bueno y una buena relación calidad-precio. El único inconveniente fue la lentitud del servicio / cocina, pero sí, es un pub y estaba ocupado (¡una consecuencia de su propio éxito, por supuesto!). Espero volver pronto.

Mi mamá me pidió que reservara una mesa para el almuerzo del domingo en el zorro y los perros de caza para que la familia guardara la cocina para variar. Nos recibió una amada anfitriona, que al parecer ha trabajado allí durante años, lo cual descubrimos mientras conversábamos. Nos presentaron el menú y nos informaron de la sopa y el pastel del día. Mirando el menú que tenía un precio razonable, con mucho para elegir. Con la comida tradicional y los mariscos que se ofrecen, no sabía qué elegir, ya que todo sonaba delicioso. La comida no tardó mucho en llegar a pesar de que rechazamos un entrante ya que queríamos espacio para pudding. Escogí el pollo asado, que cuando llegó me sorprendió conseguir carne de pechuga y pierna. Una deliciosa pieza de relleno casero y un gran pudín de Yorkshire hecho en casa junto con un poco de puré de papas. Los asados y las verduras llegaron por separado. Las patatas asadas estaban perfectamente crujientes y no fritas, lo que fue un cambio agradable. La verdura era Al dente también. No recuerdo la última vez que un almuerzo de domingo fuera tan sabroso. Había una gran selección de pudines caseros. Podrías tener un assiette para compartir entre dos si quisieras un poco de todo. Yum El toffee pegajoso era ligero y sabroso y no una pequeña porción tampoco. Recomendaría a cualquiera que trate de encontrar algo mejor. Gracias. Volveremos.

Fui a almorzar aquí. Cuando ordené el plato de costilla de cerdo de la tabla especial, mi hermana no pudo comerlo tan lejos como para calentarlo con las especias que habían puesto en la ensalada. Nos quejamos y nos dijeron que habían puesto demasiado chile en el aderezo, aunque mi hermana hizo que su próximo vino se llenara de 175 (pagamos por esto) a un tamaño más grande, sentimos que el entrante debería haber sido retirado de la factura.

El fabuloso almuerzo del Día de la Madre de ayer, fue tan bueno que sentí que debía revisar este encantador pub del pueblo. Somos un grupo de 9 y un niño pequeño y hemos reservado para 5. 15 y yo estaba un poco indeciso al pensar que la cocina y el personal habrían estado trabajando duro todo el día y va a ser lento, pero no podría haber estado más equivocado, el servicio fue excelente y altamente eficiente y toda la comida fue fantástica. Pedí lubina, que era tan fresca y deliciosa, y otras tenían carne asada con los postres más frescos de Yorkshire, y mi esposo realmente disfrutó el pastel de pescado. Los dulces son para morirse y probar el brownie y el helado sin gluten, ¡es delicioso! e incluso tuvimos bocados de millonarios con nuestro café. ¡Gracias a todo el personal y la cocina por hacer que mi Día de la Madre sea muy especial! ¡Volveremos!

Chose pub because of its location to meet up with friends. We were made to feel welcome immediately and whilst there were only two other tables occupied the atmosphere was good. Our waitress who I think was also the landlady was very friendly, comical and accommodating. Our party of four chose from the early bird menu from which there were plates to suit both vegetarian and meat eaters. Also we could select either small or large meals. The parsnip soup was delicious as was the fish pie. We couldn’t resist completing our meals with a dessert each and I can highly recommend the crumble. Thank you for a lively evening.

Stopped in by the Fox & Hounda by chance. Just for a lunchtime bite. Lovely welcome by the landlady. Had one of the best hot pork sandwiches ever. My wife also commented about how good her food was. Highly recommended!

We (three) had the beef, lamb and pork and the meat was perfectly cooked together with the full monty of vegetables. The service was friendly and efficient. We bypassed starters to ensure space for the puddings. A couple of brilliant lemon possets and nicely selected cheese board finished a splendid meal. Good wine selection

We popped in for a Sunday roast around 12ish without a booking and luckily just managed to get the last table. The staff were helpful and the service was very quick. Nice cosy pub feel and the food was delicious. The menu had a good selection and overall it was a great experience. Great food, staff are friendly and helpful. If I had to levy a criticism, it's gastro pub food, served in a facility that doesn't live up to the menu. ( Gents for example, whilst clean and no hygiene complaints, look like they have not been refurbed in 30 years).

A warm welcome and accessible entry for a disabled diner. Good menu choice and the bloomer sandwiches and chips we chose were delicious. The onion rings were particularly good! Would go again because of the service, good food and accessibility- not expensive either!

Friendly, efficient service, (we were 8 and didn’t pre order our food so expected it to take a while). Good size portions, tasty burger and great chips, my wine wasn’t very nice, and the dipping sauce was missing from my Thai infused fish cakes but that was the only down side. Lots of parking and warm cosy interior with nice Christmas decorations.

Not far from major routes this little pub has plenty of parking and is used by locals and tourists alike. We were served by a jovial waiter who showed a genuine interest in his guests.

We visit here as often as we can the food is excellent value and the service is great call in if you can !

Some seriously good cooking going on here. A starter of crab soup was amazing - intense flavours with excellent balance. A lamb rump actually could not have been better. The surroundings are unpretentious and comfortable and the service was friendly and flawless.

Met with friends for an early evening meal and we were able to have a choice of the standard menu or the early bird, 2 courses for £15.00 with an option to have a small dish for £13.00.

Fabulous evening,the mussels were delicious the beef tender and tasty,great wine and another superb value for quality meal. Thankyou Alan and all at the Fox.

Met with friends for Sunday lunch was a varied menu..with a choice of either a 2 course or 3 course.food was well presented and all home cooked we were told.some of our party opted for starters but myself and one of the others had a sweet tooth and opted for the loverly sticky toffee pudding.

Me & my wife often like to venture out for meals and came across this little lovely country pub in Walton Weatherby it’s very cosy and loads of parking, we was amazed in what good dishes and good prices the menu was , would recommend the tempura prawns and black pudding Bon Bon’s and for main Daube of beef absolutely delicious definitely coming back and after talking to the bar man we would like to say thank u to the chefs Alan, Ryan we will be back .

We have been here many times. Tonight we went for the early menu, as always it was excellent. We always like to bring visiting friends to show off a really great Yorkshire pub/restaurant providing food and service at a really high standard.

Delicious lunch at this characterful country pub. Good prices, good portions, nice staff and interesting surroundings. Easy parking too.

Arrived unannounced without a booking on Sunday at 1:45,they were clearly very busy and more bookings still to come. Even so our host had us seated with delicious plates of food in front of us within 25 minutes. Staff were very customer focused (and friendly). If you're passing do stop for food; if you can ring & book beforehand.

A Saturday pub lunch for 4 people and the meal was excellent - as good as you would expect in any fine dining restaurant. Can't fault anything, The service and the food are both first class.

Six of us dined this evening - Friday - for Mum’s Birthday. Maggie and Phil looked after us and are attentive and friendly, perfect service. Chef Alan served up food that my husband and I are still talking about now that we’ve arrived home! When your husband says “that sirloin steak was absolutely melt in the mouth gorgeous” no further words are needed. Mindst you my fish and chips were the best I have ever, ever had (no exaggeration) and I’m a Yorkshire woman who is a discerning fish and chip eater.

It had been a while since we had been the Fox and Hound but it did not disappoint. The food was good quality and the service was very friendly. They offer an early bird menu option in the week and this is excellent value for money but the main menu is great. A good village pub that excels with the food they serve.

Food was excellent very similar to main menu although we ate from the Early Bird. Also usefully offer smaller portions. Staff were perfect and very welcoming.

Staying in Wetherby for the shooing show... We arrived on the 12th May and thought it was time to have some decent food.... On route we found this dime of a pub. We all went for the early bird menu and all throughly enjoyed it. Food was amazing, service was fantastic. Very cosy place.
