The Adelphi in Leeds

I've never been before, but I'd just like to say what a fabulous evening we had. 5 friends meeting for a Christmas meal and get together. Booking process was very easy. When we arrived (a bit early) we were looked after from the start by Blake who managed to move things around for us to another table. From there till the end the service was great. Our food was just delicious - apparently cooked by Ian. Between us we had the mixed roast sharers and pies. All were very much enjoyed. We will be back.

Our mental health charity staff held our annual festive party at The Adelphi on Saturday and are genuinely happy to report how pleased we were with the food, the service and the venue - all marvellous! We were very impressed with the freshness, tastiness and quality of the food and it was a lovely, varied and colourful menu that all went beautifully together - quite special when compared to many pubs' standard Christmas buffet fare, and to some of the sit-down meals we've had over the years as well. The function room was gleamingly clean, perfectly appointed (places to hang our coats, plenty of seating, our own bar, toilets nearby), and tastefully decorated for the season. Having the room to ourselves, we were able to just relax and enjoy our time together...something really valued working out in the community as we do. Many thanks to all The Adelphi staff for their stellar service, both for the day itself and for excellent communication and flexibility with our booking. We will be planning well in advance to secure our spot with you for next year. PS: Just to be clear, each of us paid for our own meals; rest assured our charity service's funding goes towards service provision for our clients!

Great place with great character. The Christmas dinner was superb - if you haven't booked yours yet, this is the place to go!

My partner and I have visited a few places for Sunday lunch recently and decided to start rating them. The food at The Adelphi is hard to beat, Mikey the chef has done them proud, serving a delicious, well prepared and presented meal, the beef was cooked to perfection. Jesse our server was great and made sure we had everything we needed including lashings of gravy. This lunch will be hard to beat!!

Sunday lunch for 4, 1st December 1 p.m., a 9/10 experience, so a very good effort from the chef team and our server Grace. Main courses were excellent; I liked the avoidance of 'death by potato' in the balance of the roast meals (other may prefer spud overkill). The desserts weren't quite so far above average but still very good. I imagine this is a place that could get a bit 'stretched' if every table was taken, but no complaints from us.

I was so looking forward to finally having Sunday lunch here, had tried before but always full. First impressions were brilliant, gorgeous old fashioned surroundings all trimmed for Christmas with fires on in the grate. Had added an extra person to our pre booked party which was welcomed without issue - great, we were all so excited and happy to have Sunday lunch together. Unfortunately things went downhill, we waited 20 minutes before approaching the bar to order drinks to be advised quite sharply order would be taken at the table. Ok... so finally drinks order was taken but food order had to wait til drink s were served. Our food arrived an hour after our reservation we were all really hungry and thrilled to see it. Unfortunately it wasn't great, meat was good but cold, veg were brilliant loved the cabbage peas and carrots, parsnips were dry and roast potatoes challenged my teeth which I'm happy to still call my own. The biggest disappointment was the Yorkshire pudding, so hard and dry the cutlery provided almost bent. The server wisely offered more gravy but this was in vain. They were really awful All that said we ate up as we were so hungry anything would do and were happy to pay up. One of us had a train to catch and was a bit anxious about being on time so.aftrr the server failed to reappear after taking 2 out of 5 plates we thought best to pay at the bar. We waited patiently in the queue, could see it was busy. I noticed a laptop left unlocked which I mentioned to my friend. Oh dear, that was silly of me. I was shouted at across the bar to avert my eyes and not look upon the laptop screen Erm. Excuse me but it was not my data breach and that was really rude. I was embarrassed and disappointed, the person who took our mone( 120 pounds which of course we paid in full) was terse and made no enquiry as to our experience and to be honest I was so embarrassed I just wanted to leave rather than raise that the food had been served cold, dry and hard after an inordinate time Its OK, I won't trouble you again adelphi

Such a cosy pub! We hadn’t booked and the my managed to squeeze us in! The server Grace was lovely and the Sunday roast sharing platter from Mikey, Martin and Jason was delicious !!

Stupidly expensive, we won't be back I am disappointed with your reply. You are not competitive with your local businesses. £16 for a medium glass of wine and a pint of Stout is not competitive, it is expensive! I have downgraded your rating accordingly 😤

Lovely building, lovely pub. Service wasn't 100%, but the food was amazing and the beer was well kept

On the 15th November approx 8:30pm, someone behind the bar called Robyn, who had hair like lava girl, gave excellent customer service throughout the evening, and when someone I was with left their bag at the table, proceeded to run down the street to return it. 10/10 service, Robyn deserves a free drink and a pay rise.

Popped in for a cheeky pint before dinner with my mate. The place has a good selection of local beer, good service and atmosphere. There are lots of rooms and it’s spacious.

Sunday lunch is fantastic at the Adelphi have been there many times and never been disappointed. It was also very comfortable with a lovely coal fire

Food was great, atmosphere was good, service was poor. Staff were rude and seemed like they didn’t want to be there. The service was not worth the charge they added on the bill.

I love the Adelphi. It’s just a great traditional pub. We’re a neuro-spicy family and some of us are picky eaters. So finding somewhere we can all enjoy the same/similar food to have a family meal out together (that doesn’t involve pizza or curry) can be challenging. Plus we like a convivial atmosphere but not rowdiness (it can get a bit loud during the week when all the office staff pour in after work but we had a cunning plan). We booked a table for all four of us for my birthday which fell on a Sunday this year. Late Sunday lunch (veggie option) fit the occasion perfectly. We arrived at about 5pm. Usually most of the roasts would be gone by then but not so the veggie options (I knew this from a previous booking). The food was superb, the nut roast with almonds and walnuts was particularly tasty. We honestly couldn’t fault a thing from the Yorkshire pudding to the roast carrots and delicious veggie gravy of which we asked for more and got a small extra jug-full each. Overall, a wonderful family meal out on my birthday. The £30 drinks voucher that I was emailed because it was my birthday helped to keep the price down but I’d have gone there anyway. It’s one of my favourite pub eateries in Leeds. Thanks to chefs Mikey and Martin for their culinary expertise and the usual bar/waiting staff (sorry guys I didn’t catch your names). You made my birthday a really special occasion with your care and attentiveness. Bravo Adelphi! 💚

Awesome first Sunday Lunch. Sharing Platter was AMAZING! Mikey was our Chef and we were served by Jade! Excellent from start to finish. Belly Pork was literally best I’ve ever had! Everything else was FABULOUS! Deffo going to be our ‘go to’ Sunday lunch! Xxx

We came and had roasts. They were absolutely spanking. Mikey was our chef and man Alive the boy can cook. Masses of delicious, spot on food. Jada’s smile could light up a room as she dealt with a few special requests. Thank you we’ll be back

Nice traditional city pub in the centre of Leeds.

Not eaten in the Adelphi for a number of years as our last visit was nothing special. Decided to go today for a Sunday roast. They've really upped their game. Iced water brought to your table whilst browsing the menu. Ordered a lager from their huge drink range and a wine. Great service. Our lamb and nut roast dinners were brought out and we were asked if we wanted extra gravy which we said yes to. All in all a deliciously fresh tasty roast dinner with great service from Erin and the place is dog friendly!! Bonus meeting a lovely whippet ❤️

What a charming pub this is 😊 I went today for lunch with a group of friends and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was lovely. The pub is a little out of the way but worth seeking out, it's full of character and a delight 👍

Went for the share starter of camembert with rosemary and sourdough bread.... Beautiful. Followed by Halloumi fries, Chilli and honey fried chicken, and chorizo sausages from the bar snack menu.... Wow! Good size to share and all very tasty. Will definitely be going again to try more dishes. All the staff are lovely and friendly.

13 of us a family get together had one of the side rooms for us all. I had the belly pork very tasty homemade yourshire etc Good service . Would recommend.

After parking our car nearby we dropped in for a spot of lunch. From the moment we approached the bar the staff were lovely and made us feel welcomed. The food was very nice. Highly recommend this place.

Attended with a party of 18 for a wedding reception. We had the Platinum Buffet with desserts. It was amazing, tasty, high quality food and everyone said how good it was. Incredibly reasonable for the price. All staff were great. The room we booked - Tap Room - looks great. Easy process to arrange the night.

Lovely friendly bar staff, Dan spent time talking with us and could not have been more welcoming and pleasant, what an asset! Also his female colleague who made everyone feel welcome. The food was excellent too so congrats to the chef

I absolutely love this pub! It’s a hidden gem in Leeds with a proper old-school Victorian vibe and stylish decor. We hired the Snug for a small party, and it was perfect—beautifully decorated and just the right size. The price was very reasonable, too. We opted for the platinum buffet, and the food was amazing—very tasty and fresh with lots of variety. The staff were fantastic, and the music added to the great atmosphere. I highly recommend this place!

Went for the pub quiz and it wasn't fun. Quiz master was late, wasn't a very interesting quiz and not a lot of personality. Wasn't helped by an annoying heckler throughout the evening. On the plus, it was a real love quiz, not just one you play through an app.

Nice place, they do a great pub quiz. I think it's about time I visited again.

Rude staff & made to feel unwelcome aswell as don't belong in there because we don't fit there opinion on an ideal customer. Made false accusations. Was 1st time in and never again. Staff were happy enough to take my money after we ordered but when an issue arose Wasn't allowed our money back. Wouldn't have had an issue if the 1st member of staff that spoke had said something there and then not rely on another to tell me an issue arose

I have been coming to The Adelphi since I moved to West Yorkshire in 2006. Love the drinks, relaxed atmosphere and food is amazing. Came last night, Monday, and my husband and I had 3 small plates and the Camembert baked in sourdough. It was all delicious and it was, as always, a lovely chilled out evening. I am so grateful that this pub never disappoints so I thought I’d write a review this time. Thank you!

I hired the function room for an event recently and it was excellent. The staff were really helpful. The space was great and worked very well for about 60 people. The buffet was excellent and lots of people commented on how good it was. I would highly recommend it.

Thank goodness we have a lovely old pub, that serves excellent food. My husband had a starter portion of Calamari, I decided on the Roast Belly Pork, cooked to perfection, proper fresh veg and lovely gravy. Good sized portions. Great service and a chilled out dining room. We will be back.

I wish I'd taken a pic of all of the food because it was all top. This is "The Boss" burger... it was one of the best burgers I've had in a very long time. The drinks were great (beautiful pint of Landlord), and the city centre prices were backed up by quality. The pub itself is beautiful. Gorgeous decor and a snug atmosphere with its smaller rooms. Never felt too crowded when it was busy, either - very well managed.

A lovely Sunday lunch experience in the Adelphi. Brilliant, friendly service from Blake who helped us make decisions on menu choices and brought everything quickly exactly as ordered. I had the goats cheese salad which was delicious and probably the nicest I've had - with plums and other fruit and lovely goats cheese. We shared a roast platter and the pork was to die for. A nice bottle of El Bar Malbec helped to wash it all down nicely. The chef was called Mikey. Great experience all round! Will definitely be back!

Went here for an impromptu dinner recently and was blown away by the quality of the food. The nachos tasted homemade and were huge. The fresh bread was divine. The pie was perfect and the gravy was easily the best I have ever tasted. Has a few disappointing meals here before but they must have a new chef as this food was 5* quality at pub prices. Honestly amazing.

I went for the pub quiz and I didn't think it was well organised. The food was delicious and they have a really good burger deal but I wouldn't recommend the pub quiz as we were told we would be called for the quiz but were completely forgotten about.

Cracking find. Stayed at a hotel locally for work, amazing pint of Timmy Taylor Landlord and the signature burger was bang on. Good priced food for the portion and very tasty. Tuesdays is “Tappy Tuesday” so 20% off cask ale which I took full advantage of! Proper old school “boozer” feel, multiple rooms polished brass and lovely old school decor. Would definitely visit again! (No food photo it wasn’t there long enough!!)

Fabulous afternoon spent here. The chef was Mikey, gorgeous food. Robyn and Erin looked after us, knew exact where we were, when we ordered food twice... We moved 3 times Fabulous service and the couldn't do enough for us. It's my 2nd time visiting here and I'll definitely be back again

One of the best pubs in Leeds. Great good and drink set in a beautiful historic building with grand (but cosey) rooms to catch up with friends.

Very old large Tetley pub. Lots of rooms off the bar. For food, music and just a drink. Outdoor seating. It was a quiet Wednesday afternoon. But I believe it's very lively at the weekends.

Brilliant pub with amazing staff, Robyn, Jesse and Debs made my experience so worth the trip. I came from pontefract to come enjoy a pint and god was it the best pub experience I’ve ever had. £6.95 for a pint of Beavertown Lunar Haze which is very reasonable for a twin centre pub. Amazing service. Will be coming back!

Thanks for lunch on our visit. We did not have as much time as originally planned in Leeds but made sure we revisited the pub. Food is cooked well & service was very efficient, given with a smile. Plenty of different areas in the pub to choose from to sit in. Pass on our thanks to Molls & Jason. Maybe consider a citric dressing on salad or a tomato relish to go with the chicken schnitzel.

Brilliant pub with the loveliest staff. Last pub visit of the day and it was one of the best. The lady with her hair up in the bun was just so kind and nice. A beautiful pint of peroni at a reasonable price in a cosy, friendly and welcoming establishment. What more could anyone ask for after a day on their feet before getting the train home? It's a bit of a walk from the city but it's a nice walk all the same! I wouldn't hesitate to return to the Adelphi when I'm in Leeds next!

Can't knock it, great pub and a Leeds classic, but definitely feel that the prices are a little steep even for a city centre. £7 for a Pint of Faith is ridiculous even in this climate.
