The Founder's Arms in Southwark

The restaurant has table service and a great view of the Thames and St Paul’s. Jurate and Elena looked after us brilliantly well and we had a great lunch. There is a great choice of beers and wine, and a good food menu. I enjoyed a glass of Featherdrop sauvignon blanc. Haddock, chips and mushy peas were great, as was rhubarb crumble. A discretionary service charge of 12.5% is included.

As always a wonderful meal and friendly staff. Perfect view of London. What else could you want

Been here a few times now and will always come back, the food is delicious, the staff are lovely, we had a wonderful server, Duke who genuinely cared about our experience, I’m just sad we were too stuffed to go for dessert! Maybe next time

Good place to stop for refreshments with spectacular views of the Thames. The food is within the normal range of typical English food.

Was lovely food! Only didn't like the fact it's a traditional pub and had curry flavours on the side or even the soup. Stock to the tradition people like it more.

Luke warm food, music veryy loud. Slow service - only 2 tables in the returant side. Staff with hair down while serving foods, check back shouted across. Not offered desserts. Staff to busy filling sauce bottles than to check on tables

Not a bad pub, nice location with a good view of the river. A little bit loud, I ordered the haddock and chips which came a little bit late, was a little bit expensive when considering it was a little bit over cooked, I had waited to ask the waiter about it, but by the time we were asked how our meal was, it was getting cold. My company was over half way through their meal so I had to start eating. I wasn't going to send it back, there wasn't time in our reservation. Overall a bit disappointed, I wouldn't have left a review but they kept asking for it.

My favourite place by the river. Whenever get in London, I go there. Guinness tastes more delicious here.

Simply incredible: the view, the food, the people, the place, the drinks. We had a tasteful Sunday roast with all the trimmings, with a view on the river, Millennium brigde, St Paul Cathedral... We were served by Duke, who took good care of us. Thank you guys! Amazing job!

Despite awful weather this was a wonderful riverside venue. The service was excellent in all respects. The sharing Ploughman’s was extremely generous, easily feeding 3 people, items were freshly produced and very well presented. Delicious. Thoroughly recommend and would certainly visit again if on Southbank again.

Looking for lunch, the Founder's Arm is a great spot along the Thames embankment between the Tate Modern and Blackfriars Bridge. We both order the Fish & Chips. The fish was a battered haddock with a nice crunch to it. The chips were triple fried and great with the tartar sauce, lemon and peas as accompaniments. A Pint of Guinness help wash it down. Service was friendly and quick. Overall, a nice place for lunch. I recommend it.

Handy location on the Southbank by Blackfriars Station, almost directly opposite St Paul's. Friendly staff who were happy to accommodate us when we arrived half an hour early. Shared a generous houmous platter - we got some free extra flatbread as we'd said we were hungry! Not rushed at all, which was quite refreshing compared to some city venues.

We were a family group of 10 people comprising of 8 adults and 2 children. A table had been reserved with plenty of space and wonderful views across the river to St Paul's Cathedral. The food was wholesome and tasty with vegetarian options and nice children's menu. We had a brilliant waiter - Tadeusz (better known as Tadek) who looked after us incredibly well. Although the pub was busy, we were served promptly and found the ambience to be most pleasant. It was a memorable lunch time event which was very enjoyable and also good value. We would definitely return in the near future.

It was a lovely way to spend New Years Eve. Although we had to wait a little for the table due to the mayhem of New Years Eve bridge closures and people who had arrived late- the staff were very friendly and efficient at keeping us up to date with where we were up to. The atmosphere was very relaxed, even though it was busy. The view was amazing and we had a really enjoyable evening.

We had our Christmas Day meal at the Founders Arms and it was lovely! We've eaten out in pubs on Christmas Day before, and were slightly nervous, as our experience hasn't always been great. This time, everything was great- the food, the service and the view! The staff were, understandably, rushed off their feet as it was Christmas and the pub was packed, but they managed to stay courteous and friendly and we didn't have to wait for our drinks for long. The arrival of the different food courses was perfect, allowing us to have a chat as a family in between, but it never felt like we'd been forgotten about. Also, the food definitely tasted and looked freshly made. We were also lucky enough to be seated in the more quiet diners part of the pub and had a beautiful view of the river. We were so pleased we had chosen this pub after having contemplated some other options near our hotel. Thank you to all the staff at the Founders Arms!

Ci siamo stati a pranzo con amici mentre eravamo in vacanza a Londra, ottimo Fish and Cips, vista spettacolare. Ci ha servito Duke che si è offerto anche di scattarci una foto tutti insieme. Servizio abbastanza buono, abbiamo chiesto l' acqua un paio di volte ma alla fine è arrivata 🙂
