Recently visited 'The Forth', its hard to find in the complex as the restaurant is situated on the top floor and is called The Forth but menu's read 'West Coast' and so do the signs downstairs. Its an 'All American' menu but the decor inside screams anything but. The place was freezing as well I had to sit with my scarf on!. Staff look like they could do with a good wash too if im honest. Service was ok I guess but nothing special. starter was OK but i didnt touch my main and the waitress didnt even ask what was wrong. A few of my collegues had to send their steaks back as they were undercooked. Also if you order strawberrys and cream for your dessert be warned it comes blended! LOL. Cocktails didnt even taste like there was any alcohol in them and my collegues peroni didnt manage to reach us before the end of our meal. Have to say this is probably the worst restaurant i have ever been to. Believe the reviews and go elsewhere!!!

We went here after seeing a movie at the cinema because we had a two-for-one coupon. It was fairly quiet, but there was also not many staff on either. The menu was very highly glutenated with burgers, breaded chicken, wraps and so on. It was hard to find something gluten free except a salad, but we managed. The food was OK and suited our needs, but was somewhat utilitarian. It didn't feel like celebratory food, but it filled the corners. We'd probably try a bit harder to find an eatery next time.

Having read the other reviews, I have to ask myself if maybe there's an element of snobbery from some of the diners, or if they have actually been to the same place I have. I have been to this bar and grill several times and have had nothing but excellent service. The food, whilst the usual Old Orleans/Frankie & Bennys fare, is cooked well and in all my experiences hot, The waiting staff, who seem to run around non stop were quick and attentive, with the price being very reasonable for what we had. Of course it's never going to be cordon bleu cooking, it is simply another chain of bar and grill that are out to make money and make it quick with cheap food and that "Ol southern style" which is about as real as my hair colour *ahem*, but it's a great place to go if you're just looking for some uncomplicated chow (I highly recommend the Rodeo burger..without the bun) a few drinks and really good night with some friends. Don't let these other reviews put you off, try it for yourself and see who's right.

Visited The Forth Restaurant on Friday 14 January 2011, and will never be there again – The food we ordered was the worse I have ever had, its was cold and had no taste to it – The chips came in a separate bowl, which I am sure were re-heats, and the bowl was all chipped. When the manager first asked us about our meal, we complained then to say it was cold, he offered to re-heat this!!!! We rejected this and carry on eating it, but we had to admit defeat as it was just too horrid, never had a clue what we were eating, as it looked so bad. We complain again to the Duty Manager, he tried to say it was piping hot when it came to the table, however, when we first complained to him, he offered to re-heat it..So how could it be piping hot!!! The Duty manager didn’t even ask us what we wanted to do, he just took the plates away and gave us our bill – He didn’t charge us for our cocktails, I would have rather of paid for them and not the food, but I just wanted to get out of the place.

Visited this restaurant this weekend, looked nice from the outside and the bar was OK. The food and service (assistant manager) absolutely shocking, waiting staff fine. The garlic bread starters was greasy and chewy but we thought fair enough it was edible and we were hungry. However the worst was def still to come, the main course looked like a dogs dinner but even worse I am sure a can of pedigree chum would have had more taste and better presentation!! We sent the food away as looking at it made me feel sick. The ever so helpful manager never even apologised, he grunted took our plates away and brought the bill that we had not even asked for. Bill reduced......but would have preferred a nice meal. I am not one to complain and have never written a review before but If this saves someone from having a spoit night and some god damn awful food then my it has been worth while. BEWARE SHOCKING!! p.s several hours later and I still feel unwell thinking of it.

This restaurant was formerly Old Orleans and in my opinion its not as good as it was back then. The menu is varied and looks good but the food is average and theres not much of an atmosphere. The bar area is okay for a couple of drinks before heading to the cinema or into town (good cocktail list) but other than that I probably wont really visit here more than once a year

We decided to try The Forth Restaurant for Sunday lunch. We waited at the "wait to be setaed" sign for a while before tracking down a member of staff to take us to our table. We were the only customers in the restaurant. We ordered the combo for two to start, which was so burnt, it was almost unidentifiable. When the waitress came to collect the plate in roughly the same condition she had given it to us, we expected her to ask if everything was OK. Instead she asked if we were finished and swiftly removed the charcoaled offerings. I had chicken fajitas which came with out of date, fizzy salsa, a few chunks of chicken and cardboard-like tortillas. My boyfriend had the rib eye steak which was accompanied by a dodgy looking mushroom and some overcooked onion rings. When I complained about the salsa, the waitress didn't apologise, she just brought me some more of the stuff. No discount was offered and we ended up paying £32.82 for the experience. Don't go to this restaurant - it's the worst meal we have ever had, they must need to put real effort in to screw up such simple food

We decided to go out for lunch on Sunday, and he suggested the restaurant on the first floor of the Fountain Park Leisure Centre, which used to be Old Orleans, but is now called The Forth. The menu was pretty uninspiring, resembling pub food or a grill chain, but we thought we'd give it a go anyway. The place is huge, with a raised area at the rear with lovely views over Edinburgh all the way to Fife, through floor to ceiling windows. There were only two occupied tables in the whole place, so my boyfriend asked for a table at the window. "Err.... that area is reserved for a private function" was the reply and we were sat at a booth in the dingy main area of the restaurant. I knew this was just a lie - clearly the restaurant was so quiet they didn't have the whole thing open for service, so he should have been more honest. Needless to say no private party appeared while we were there. Our drink order was taken, and they got it wrong, but swapped it quickly enough. My companion asked what the Sunday roast was, only to be told that there was no Sunday roast today as "they didn't have any vegetables". Should have been a warning, I guess. I ordered a sirloin steak, to be told that there were no sirloins, so I ordered a medium rare ribeye, while he opted for the mixed grill requesting beans instead of peas. After a while our meals arrived. Where do I start? The promised extra garnish on my steak of "mushrooms, onion rings and tomato" was a single, small flat mushroom, two tiny cold onion rings, and half a grilled tomato - also cold. The steak was tepid, and cooked medium. The coleslaw tasted off. The chips were rock hard. The beans on the mixed grill were stone cold, and the rest of it left a lot to be desired. The price for this magnificent feast of two drinks and two main courses? £32.94. I remember it exactly, because we actually counted out our exact change to leave them a zero tip. You may be wondering why we didn't complain. Quite frankly, I just couldn't be bothered. Just chalked it up to experience as a restaurant not to visit again in a hurry. OK, make that a restaurant not visit again full stop.

This place really is the pitts. Had fish n chips which was awful. The fish was soggy and inedible. Drinks had lipstick marks on glasses rook themback. Barrly an apology andlocals loud and aggressive staff don't care less. Still waiting on a decent Gorgie establishment!

This could be a really nice place to eat, but unfortunately once inside the place lacks atmosphere, and more importantly the food is just not good. The soup had a funny taste and the oignon rings and mushrooms were clearly frozen, and quite tasteless. Even the tea had a bad taste to it. I was surprised that the pub was empty when I went in with my mother... forty five minutes later upon leaving, I understood why. I even apologised to my mother for taking her there. Yet it could be a high class bistro/restaurant, if a good chef was hired to conjure up good dishes. And it is a real shame because the pub is well placed and has great potential. Yet we were happy to leave the place as inside there was a strange sense of oppression, despite the waitress being nice, in her own way. A long walk along the promenade, managed to dissipate our disappointment.
