The Forge Kitchen in Ipswich

Went there for my sons 21st, went over and above to make it a lovely experience, my 91 year old mum struggled with items on the menu and they made sure there was something for her to eat. Can't fault them at all, great food, service and management. Thank you

Had a works Christmas meal here. We were sat up on the mezzanine level and it was so dark I needed to use my mobile light to see what was actually in my burger. Food was tasy but we were booked for 7.30 and our last course didn't arrive until 9.45. I think I need to come back again to see what it's like at other times.

I've dined at The Forge a few times now and every time was fantastic! The food is delicious and of high quality, the atmosphere is brilliant and the service is decent. Food and drink prices are also fair. My only 2 points of criticism are that I think their dessert menu is a little bit overpriced and that I wish they didn't use American cheese in their burgers. Their signature cocktails are an experience of their own. They are served in a variety of cool smoke emitting (dry ice) metal sculptures, and are sure to give you a cool instagram photo/video if that's something you're looking for! In my opinion it's one of the best restaurants in Ipswich and I can't recommend it enough!

Christmas works meal, food was good service was excellent.

Lots of beef on the menu.. burgers steak. Could do with a fish dish maybe? Food was nice. Nothing amazing. Bernice sauce looked split my friend has but I had peppercorn.

The place is good, clean. Food are really amazing and tasty. Cocktails are so good. Staff are friendly and working so hard.

We were served by Natalie for my 18th birthday, all staff were very attentive and food was delicious! We were checked on at multiple occasions by multiple staff members , definitely will return!

I’ve been to The Forge Kitchen in Ipswich so many times, and it never disappoints. The smoked meat platter is honestly next-level, and the cocktails are always spot on. If you’re after quality food and drinks in a chill spot, this is the place. Highly recommend!

Great food!! We got one The Butcher’s Blocks to share ‘’The Stoker”. That’s a good portion for two, but I recommend to have the smoked beans as a side, specifically if you are hungry.

A gem of a find in the Waterfront area of Ipswich. A converted electrical substation makes for an excellent semi industrial backdrop to a well thought out steak + cocktail experience. Super friendly staff and a superb menu. Great for date night.

This used to be my favourite place in Ipswich, I had rated it a five stars, but after last night that star has dropped. Normally your steaks are out of this world but last night it wasn't up to your normal standards. I don't know if you've got a new chef, or if they were having a bad day, but it didn't taste like the Forge. You used to have more sorbet options, and now only have two? And the chicken wings left me really disappointed. After the meal we all felt the same, it wasn't the forge that was used to love. It's an expensive place and I expected so much more. Service was ok, but the waitresses were pushing for more drinks orders a lot. It was also pretty slow, even though it was quiet last night. Sadly, I don't think I'll be excited to come back.

Great burgers and cocktails here!

Had a lovely meal here on Sunday night. Spent £49 on goats cheese starter, beef burger and vegetarian burger, 2 soft drinks and ice cream desert. Plus, they gave up free prosecco as we were celebrating. Lovely atmosphere even for a Sunday, would recommend! Only thing to note was the chocolate ice cream, it tasted quite gritty which we weren't fans of.

Went yesterday for a meal. Food was lovely, and service was excellent. Shall definitely return

Had a really good time here tonight (17/10/24) for my wifes 40th. The food was amazing, great choice of drinks, - shame I was driving - super friendly staff and the decor looks fantastic. Since we are big steampunk fans, we have been wanting to come here for ages, glad we finally had an excuse. We just had a party of 6 which was comfortable in the atmosphere of the Forge. They also allowed us to bring a surprise cake for the birthday and served it up with a flaming firework/candle. All good fun. Will definitely be returning for a drink sometime, when I don't have to worry about driving.

A brilliant, vibrant restaurant where the service is only beaten by the quality of the food and drinks. Brisket Burger - outstanding quality and the loaded fries just stunning. I would go back tomorrow and everyday thereafter!!

Fab spot for a family celebration dinner. Found smash burgers outside of Iowa which was amazing, and they compared favourably!!! The theme is so steampunk and love that!

Wow wow wow! The staff were warm and welcoming, really attentive and personable. The drinks were fantastic and the food was beyond expectations, atmosphere was lovely, it made for a very enjoyable evening out. Cannot wait to return!

The thing that stands out at this restaurant is the customer service, special touches, and quality. The owner took the time to personally greet and speak with us when we arrived, which is something that rarely happens at other places. The cocktails are amazing and reasonably priced for the quality, , and flair that goes into them. The high-end glassware, drink decor, and the skill of the bar staff really stood out. The spiced rum and Coke I had was a real winner too. There is so much in the press about hospitality businesses shutting down every day, and I am sure The Forge has seen some tough times too. However, this owner has adapted quickly and offered something very special, and the place was so busy I thought I was in a different town! We didn’t get the chance to eat, but the warm welcome and experience we had means we will be back to try the food too.

2nd time here, food and cocktails are fantastic. Tried the Sunday roast burger this time, exciting and tasy take on a roast. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Food was served quickly and piping hot as it should be. Highly recommend this restaurant.

I have allergies and the staff were helpful when taking my order. I had nachos and the food was was ok, but nothing special. Very nice venue

Went there for their Sunday roast burger. Which was lovely apart from the roast potatoes, not sure how long they'd been cooked for or if they'd been frozen. All of us who had this didn't eat the roast potatoes. Starters were good, and the cocktails were amazing . It's just a shame about the roast spuds.

The service we experienced was amazing. I wish I'd gotten the ladies name, she was friendly, polite, attentive and helpful. The food was wonderful, a great selection was available. Would definitely recommend

Loved the relaxed atmosphere of this place! The service was a little slow, but we were there in the peak hours, and it was well worth the wait! Great selection of meaty dishes (less options for vegetarians, but the veggie burger I had was very decent) and some very creative cocktails! 🍔🍸

Had the butchers block serves 2 for breakfast. Included steak, bacon, sausages, beans, tomato mushrooms, hahbrowns, back pudding eggs and toast. All presented well, service prompt and friendly. Slightly expensive but great for that special occasion

Been here a few times now, easily one of the best places for food in the town. Also a great selection of drinks. Always had good service here and will be returning.

We went with some friends. Not the first time I've been, but won't be the last either. The food is always good, but it's the little things they do for you which make the difference, and it's the hands on owner who is regularly in attendance, and his team go out of their way to make sure you have an amazing experience. This place reminds me of something you'd find (and would be doing very well too) in Covent Garden. Great food, great atmosphere, very original, and an asset to Ipswich. If you've never been and you are a carnivore, like a few drinks and a good night out, it's totally worth a visit.

Out of this world smoked chicken wings & brie bites. Friendly service, and a free beer for my Birthday! We'll be back!

Really fantastic experience at The Forge. All the staff were fantastic & provided us with exceptional service. Quality of the food & drinks were great too - I thoroughly reccomend going here!

Loved it! Went with friends for a nice meal out in the evening and the food was delicious 😋 was quite a wait, but it was understandable - it was so busy! We've had 4 burgers with different fillings, and they easily swapped chicken for beef in one of them for me. Staff was patient and polite. I really admire them having all these heavy plates upstairs! I don't think I would have had a strength. The manager was involved in serving and helping, just a lovely atmosphere and happy people around. There's not much else to say! We parked on Marina and walked 5 minutes up the road. Food is not as expensive as we thought we spent around £90 for 4 of us. We will definitely be back

Better for brunch than dinner. Been coming here for years and the dinner food is always poor.

We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation and the table wasn't ready, which we were told to order at the bar and wait which wasn't too bad. When we ordered the food there was a 40 minute wait which we were not informed of before and had to get a passing server to get us more drinks at around 35 minuites in as we didn't anticipate the wait. When the food finally arrived, they tried to serve the wrong table our food and we had to inform them it was our table. For my own personal order they had the wrong burger and seemed shocked when I said I ordered something else. My sisters fiancé did not get any bacon on his bertrums brisket burger despite it saying on the menu it came with it. The food was good but the service was really bad.

Great cocktails and food, staff helpful and friendly

My first time going there for my dad's 65th birthday and had the BBQ beak and bacon burger - it was delicious!! The pulled pork nachos were excellent! I'd definitely love to go there again!!

Took my niece out for her 13th birthday. The Forge was brilliant! Great food, fantastic service and a great atmosphere. Staff made a lovely alcohol free cocktail for my niece to make her feel all grown up and even included a candle with her delicious dessert! All round great night and great experience!

First impression was it looked cool, industrial vibe.. Very friendly staff. Gods selection of drinks and served a great pint. Food was fantastic, nothing to complain about and would defo recommend visiting…

Absolute lovey venue to eat the food is amazing couldn't fault it at all. The staff are very welcoming and coukd do enough fir us, great nite for couples and large grouos, the drink selection is amazing especially the cocktails. Parking is were we strugged, we parked over the road in the caroark well i payed for a ticket and then got a fine as apparently it needed a permit avoid do not park there. Aoart from that was a great evening

Fathers Day treat for my stepdad. Delicious meal, amazing drinks (Candy Box 📦 wow!!!), fab service and a great atmosphere. Definitely recommend and looking forward to going again someday. 😀

I visited this restaurant a couple of Sundays ago. It was a fantastic experience from the service to the food. The cocktails are 2 for 1 on a Sunday are were perfect. It was so good we are visiting again. This Sunday hopefully with friends.

First time here for a birthday meal. Cocktails are amazing, food is amazing, staff are brilliant. Nice restaurant have booked to go back!

Nice place to eat and meet with others, with convenient parking nearby. Have visited socially and for work evening gatherings on the upper floor - beer and a very nice burger for a reasonable price. Lots of good menu choices, and have yet to find a bad choice!

Okok food flavour was just good quality just good quantity extremely small.... the prices for so small quantity extremely high like you take main course. Waitress very polite and smile however service not up to standard.... very basic.....

Came here last night for a catch up with friends, had to say the burgers were tasty and portion sizes for the money were really good. Only thing that has knocked the rating down was for the dessert, paying £8:50 for a hazelnut and chocolate chip cookie dough sundae, that literally came out in a martini size glass is actually appalling. Paying that much I expect to get an actual sundae glass that has more than two bits of tiny brownie and one piece of cookie dough! Also the whole thing was mostly whipped cream, which isn’t exactly £8.50 in price.

Went for lunch on a Saturday, it was quiet but atmosphere was nice. Waitress was lovely, very knowledgeable and polite, made to feel welcome and not rushed. Food and drink were nice, nothing too special but nothing wrong with it. However I felt it was overpriced for what we got. I ordered a Buddha bowl which was £14 but had to pay an additional £5 for halloumi (three small slices) - happy to pay for good food but did think this was very steep!

Came here for lunch on Saturday (23.03.24) as a group of 4. The food was amazing, the cocktails were phenomenal and the waitress was brilliant (didn't get her name, but she was tall, blonde) definitely requires a promotion and a well done. Will be returning with the rest of the family. Highly recommend 👌

Always our go-to spot for special occasions or a fancy breakfast. We got married recently and also celebrated my birthday so we went to The Forge for lunch. We were given a complementary glass of fizz. Food was spot on as always and they were more than happy to double check things for me due to dietary requirements.

Just had possibly the best burger ever as part of their "bun & rum" promotion. Double smash patties, bacon, cheese, and a ruddy pancake covered in maple syrup in the middle... For £10! As a side note, I'd highly recommend adding this to the main menu. It was amazing.

If I could give to a staff member especially Brandon 10 stars I would! My husband and I came all the way from Norfolk to visit the forge kitchen and we were lucky to sit next to the bar. These guys were amazing, but I can't recommend Brandon enough! The hard working great sense of humour and drinks were beyond delicious. He is your little gem! Food, tapas and steak best ever! :)

Would have given 5* if more choice of draft beer were available. A decent IPA on draft would be good. Great steam punk architecture and decor. Food was good but all burgers were listed as being served with American Cheese which was disappointing Service was good.
