The Forge & Fern in Bristol, City of

First time visit here and a Sunday lunch -booked for 1pm our table was waiting for us.The venue is Clean -well decorated and well set out it is a busy venue. Plenty of staff on hand as well. The roast dinners were lovely and had great flavours all four of us were very happy with the quality-just two small gripes not enough veg and we had to ask for a pot of gravy due to small amounts on our plates. Desserts were limited but we had two churros desserts which we shared between the four of us they were delicious. Prices are on the higher side for both food and drinks.You cannot pay by cash which I wanted to do card only. Certainly recommend and I’m sure we will visit again in the future.

Nos gustaría agradecer a la Forja y al Helecho por el maravilloso tiempo que pasamos celebrando el 90 cumpleaños de mi madre. El equipo era cálido y acogedor, la comida era deliciosa y cada uno obtuvo su primera opción del menú. Lo más importante, aunque éramos un grupo de 18 personas, el equipo estaba tan organizado que se las arregló para servir todas las comidas en rápida sucesión, lo que nos permitió comer felices juntos sin esperar a que llegaran otros platos. Incluso lograron mantener encendida la gran variedad de velas de mi mamá cuando presentaron aquí su pastel sorpresa. Se la hizo sentir muy especial.

Visitamos con bastante regularidad y siempre encontramos al personal acogedor y conocedor del menú. Necesitamos opciones sin gluten ya que uno de nosotros es celíaco, por lo que es importante tener confianza en el personal y la cocina. El menú cambia con las estaciones y aunque no es extenso el objetivo, creo que es ofrecer comida buena, fresca, local y de temporada. Esto significa que no es la opción más barata, pero la calidad vale la pena. Hoy tuvimos otro almuerzo dominical encantador y recibimos un sorprendente ‘Gracias’ del Gerente. Sin duda volveremos una y otra vez.

Encantador entorno, pero muy muy caro. 50 porque un vino grande es ridículo. Tenía ensalada de halloumi que tenía 2 trozos pequeños de halloumi y un poco de aguacate que era encantador, pero por más de £ 16 es demasiado caro para lo que es. Realmente quiero que este restaurante haga bien, ya que es ideal para la zona, pero el precio nos dejó sin propina por primera vez desde que salimos con amigos.

I had been keen to try this place out for a while. Lovely atmosphere inside. Modern and bright. I was disappointed that even on a early sitting on a sunday there were items no longer available. Starter was average for the price of mac and cheese bites. Roast was lovely but for me I would of liked more green veg. Pudding I had a crumble which was lacking in any real crumble topping. Overal it was an average meal and unfortunately felt it was a little over priced for what it was.

Decided to give the place a try but discovered they are a cashless business. Most othe pubs take cash so what makes them so special? Stay away.

Had lad’s reunion, so four of us sat in the sunshine in the garden. The atmosphere was great. Nice and chilled. We didn’t eat but the food looked nice. Definitely go again 👍

The food was excellent, the ambience was great and the service couldn’t be faulted. We were given a big table and they were able to accommodate 2 prams. A very tasty Sunday lunch that tasted homemade. We loved it and will go back and recommend to friends.

we went for brunch but it was about 12.45pm, so lunch really. We selected from the brunch menu and service was good and food came. It was nice and the right size portion for me. Toilets are very clean and well decorated and the place is pleasant.

Started off well, we were seated 15 minutes early. Unfortunately that's the end of the good bits. It took over half an hour to take our order and was an hour and a half from being seated to actually receiving our food. One item seemed to have been forgotten and we had to ask for it 3 times. By the time it came it was rock hard as if it had been left under the lights too long.... Myself and a friend had the sausage mash and cabbage. One mouthful of the cabbage revealed so much salt it was vile. I can't even describe how bad it was. We told the waitress who offered us 'a separate serving of cabbage'. That's it. We refused it and had to eat the rest of the meal as it was. It was ruined. As someone who has to be very careful of their salt intake, this has made me very ill and I have been sick several times this morning. Will definitely not be returning.

My daughter in law said this was a nice place to eat and she wasn't wrong. Waitress was very nice and willing to change order at a moments notice, now that is service. I also liked the swan on my coffee. My son ordered pancakes, bacon and maple syrup which he loved. I ordered the striker burger, well done which was delicious. My daughter in law and grandson had chicken with a side order of cheesy mushrooms which they thoroughly enjoyed. Everyone liked their meal and my son said it was good value too. I would definitely recommend

Top tier roast dinner. 👌 There was a little bit of a wait as the place was packed, but was well worth it. Roast was right up there with one of the best in Bristol.

The standard of food is really shocking for the price. For example the mozzarella, basil and tomato bruschetta is toast spread with a thick layer of pesto from a jar topped with hard tomatoes and a sprinkling of cheese. It was inedible as who would eat thick pesto from a jar? Bizarre. My fish and chips were also inedible as the chips were burnt and the potato had turned black so was very old stock. I was so disappointed. I was given no apology and no discount on my bill. The soft drinks are also a fiver- beware.

Me and my husband visited this place last weekend for a Sunday roast. The food was delicious and I loved the decor inside. Manager Christian was lovely and made us feel welcome. Can highly recommend this place and we will be definitely coming back.

I came here on Sunday for my friends 40th birthday celebrations. The restaurant has a great atmosphere. I had the Pork Roast which was delicious and it was a very generous portion. The Staff were friendly and accommodating and provided us with a great service. I would definitely recommend.

First time visit for dinner. The food was average. The service was great. It was very expensive for food and drinks - in fact way overpriced. It would have been cheaper and better to go to Pasture, The Cote or The Ivy.

I’ve been here a few times now and have had a decent experience. It’s a great space, clean and fresh, lovely staff and speed of service is prompt. Last night I was amazed at how expensive it was. I had the finisher burger which is simply a burger with piece of bacon and some dry brisket on top surrounded by chips that were really crispy and oily like they’d been in a fryer for a while. I’m happy to pay top price for a top product but this was far from that. Maybe I’m just getting old and pessimistic but 4 people having 2 courses of reasonable food in a pub in staple hill should come at a reasonable price.

We had made a booking looking forward to the forge and fern, decor was great and staff were friendly. Took a while to order drinks, it was a busy night so was to be expected. A few things, we weren’t offered water, the Brie bacon and cranberry ciabatta had a very minimal amount of Brie. There were no check backs on the table. Then I had the finisher burger which lived up to its name. I was violently sick leaving the building and continued to do so on my way home. Considering it was meant to be a last minute birthday treat it ruined it before it got going. I suspect it could have been the coleslaw as it didn’t taste cold nor particularly fresh. Or potentially the burger which wasn’t completely cooked through But I’m not completely sure. A farewell would have been nice. I’ve worked in hospitality all my life and this has to be my worst experience out somewhere.

I went with my family for Sunday Roast. Very nice place in a nice neighbourhood. Staff very welcoming, smiling & attentive. Prompt service. Emily was great. Beautifully decorated place. Delicious Sunday roast. I had salad with added chicken, avocado & feta, which was absolutely amazing. The dessert was incredible. The bill for 4 people was £150 (no alcohol). I will definitely go back.

A convenient place to go if you live in the area. The atmosphere was good but then it’s Christmas. The staff were lovely and helpful. We came at the same time last year and the food was good. This year, the food was poor. Smoked salmon starter was ok but for the jaw breaking and yet chewy bruschetta. The veg wellington had soggy and partially cooked pastry with an uninspiring filling. The presentation was really awful, bit like a school dinner but with nicely cooked cabbage. The wine was ok. This place could be so much better. Its decor is lovely inside and out. The staff were great but really, the food was pretty awful for the price. I gave three stars for atmosphere and decor and because I had a lovely time with my friends but much of that was the company not the restaurant. Sorry…

Unfortunately this place falls below standard for the money. Atmosphere is lovely, as well as decor but portion size is ridiculous. Nearly £20 for a burger and I actually counted 12 chips. Burger wasn't anything special either. Service was okay, a few of the members of staff looked uninterested and miserable. Very rushed experience, won't be visiting again.

We visited the Forge and Fern as a group of 6 friends for an evening get together. We had a great booth table, which was festive as we were having the Christmas Dinner (first of the season).. table was decorated with crackers but the pub had not yet been decorated. The waiting staff were courteous and helpful and the Christmas meal was plentiful and hot. For a 2 course Christmas dinner we paid £32 + £5 gratuity + drinks. Was the meal worth this price, maybe, maybe not. I enjoyed the meal but felt the gratuity was high. The pub for a Monday night was not busy and by 10pm the staff seemed to be leaving.
