Booked in for Sunday lunch ( booking is essential, as there fully booked 2025) that says it all, outstanding lunch. Crab taco starter was spot on, the main event was rare topside of beef, brisket bon bon, Mrs B had the Ham hock bon bon all cooked perfectly With Yorkshire pudding, creamed leeks & seasonal veg..the gravy was another level finished off with a beautiful light lemon tart. The service and atmosphere was ideal. We will definitely be going again ... 👏👏👏

It promised so much in its reviews but was a huge let down. We turned up on time but had to stand near our table while it was wiped and relaid. Allergy questions asked so that was a bonus at least. Drink orders where wrong. It was claustrophobic as it was the sought after Sunday lunch booking for our party of six. The food once ordered took over forty five minutes to arrive and by the end of our meal people where seated at window sill and a dog allowed onto the premises. NEVER AGAIN and will never ever recommend the venue.

Friendly pub and pleasant relaxing atmosphere. Nice interior and outside seating with heaters. There was a good choice of beers including Bass, that I have not seen in years. It is off the beaten track so you need to navigate to it if you don't know where it is. Well worth a visit. Didn't have food so can't comment on that.

Went in for a quiet lunch on Saturday. The food was absolutely amazing. Plates stacked high, reasonable prices for what you got and some seriously yummy food. The staff were all fantastic and so welcoming, and the interior was clean and cozy. Can't recommend it highly enough!

Christmas dinner at @thebanktavern 🎄 Yesterday, we went to to the bank tavern for an early Christmas dinner with Craig and Olivia. For starters we had duck liver pate and a prawn bisque, followed by their famous roast beef which was devine! For dessert, we had the egg nog panna cotta and the gingerbread chocolate tart. Happy we managed to get a Christmas booking in with them as we really enjoyed it a few years back! Always a welcoming bunch and great vibes inside!

Absolutely hands down the best roast we've ever had! We came for the Christmas menu and it did not disappoint! Beef was extremely tender, the black pudding stuffing was incredible. We can't wait to try and come back when the diary opens again! Amazing staff too!

All I can say is that for once you really can believe the hype. It's incredible. Best roast I've ever eaten, pure class.

This is our second time back in 2 months - first time was the usual Sunday lunch (beef) and this time the Christmas lunch (turkey). Both meals have honestly been the best roasts of my life - which admittedly only 12 of those years have been in the UK but it's just so amazing. Cannot wait to return to try the normal menu. Really lovely staff too - definitely recommend it when in Bristol!

Good location and varieties of beer.

Probamos algunas de las ofertas de menús de otoño entre semana y disfrutamos de cada una. Los muslos de pollo Piri y el sándwich de verduras asadas fueron disfrutados a fondo por el "jefe". Probé el guiso de garbanzos que era enorme y muy sabroso en un día frío y borrascoso. También tenía la hamburguesa de pechuga de pollo que era suculento y muy satisfactorio. El asado dominical en esta visita fue excepcional. Golpear todas las notas correctas de los entrantes de la galleta de gambas con tostadas de ajo; y las cebollas caramelizadas con feta en cestas de filo. La carne estaba tan tierna que se derritió. Los desiertos de chocolate rubio y una torta de café / almendra fueron de primera categoría, como siempre! Esperamos con ansias regresar las visitas en 2025 , ya que siempre es un placer venir a esta pequeña joya que produce tan consistentemente gran comida.

It is rare to find a proper pub in the centre that has a late licence, has a good range of beers, and is welcoming. But this is what place and a most excellent one. In fact if you want a pint or two or two out on a Friday or Saturday night (with a little DJ action to boot), make this your 🎶 pit stop 😎.

Esperé mucho tiempo por esto. Mientras que la comida era “agradable” y para un almuerzo de domingo esto era un poco por encima de la media, sentimos que el servicio era un poco apresurado. Reservado para 2 : 15 , llegamos 5 minutos antes. Ambas mesas a cada lado de nosotros estaban llenas y ya en los entrantes. La comida era buena y tenía los 3 platos completos. El problema era que una de nuestras mesas vecinas seguía llena, pero nos pidieron que pagáramos la factura y saliéramos a beber ya que tenían otras mesas reservadas. No mucho en el camino de una disculpa y cuando mencionamos la otra mesa no obtuvimos respuesta. Muy mal servicio después de un almuerzo de 3 platos.

I recently visited for a birthday treat! I have to say, I’m always massively disappointed going to eat out as my husband is an ex professional chef. Thankfully this place delivered in more ways than one and deserves top marks! You simply HAVE to try their Sunday roast, i’ll definitely be back for more! Highly recommended for anyone craving a classic, well-executed roast dinner!

Had lunch today very good. The sandwiches are awesome. Nice choice of beers. Very friendly staff too even Charlie the resident dog came and said hello.

Great Sunday Roast (rogue hair in dinner aside) - put cauliflower cheese as a side on the menu, c'mon you know you want toooo. Staff were really nice and attentive! Desserts were lacking and overpriced for what they were. If you're going to serve nice bottles of red to go with a lovely meal please get decent wine glasses not those stubby horrible thick ones you can get in the pound shop. Something with a longer stem or even just thinner glass, it just elevates the whole experience. Also the decor is a bit...tired, fairy lights through over logs in the fireplace is giving student digs, and the prints of the royals everywhere is just not working. You can do cosy pub/gastro pub without spending a fortune, just need someone to pull the decor together a bit, it would do wonders for the setting.

Estábamos buscando un almuerzo ligero de domingo que estaba resultando difícil, pero vimos este lugar por un callejón. Decía Pub Grub en la pared, así que lo intentamos y tuvimos mucha suerte de conseguir una mesa. El menú era completo el almuerzo del domingo, pero sonaba increíble. Hermosamente presentado Carne asada y vientre de cerdo vino con una increíble cantidad de verduras de acompañamiento y sabía maravilloso. Muy pequeño y popular. No tuvimos la oportunidad de volver si el tiempo lo permitió que sin duda habríamos regresado. Magnífico

Otra visita al Banco en junio para su asado, todavía nos da el mejor almuerzo del domingo para nosotros! Nunca puede faltar la comida, así como el servicio!

Visited for their award winning Sunday Roast. Everything was 5/5 with the exception of the roast potatoes 🙈 A crucial element to any roast so a bit gutting but when we spoke to our server, they already knew. Think they were having an off day - would still happily return/recommend. Particularly enjoyed my chocolate cheesecake, really need to go back and try the weekday lunch menu!

A long waiting list for this famous roast dinner but disappointing result. Overcooked and overpriced food and the table and floor were dirty. Can only assume that the long waiting list has more to do with the tiny dining space than the quality of the food. Won't be going again, there are better offerings nearby.

Outstanding food! Tasted delicious, was reasonably priced, and yet was quiet on a sunny Saturday lunchtime. We went here at the end of July as we were passing through Bristol and wanted to spend a couple of hours. We previously looked at the menu when we'd visited Bristol before but the timings didn't work out, so decided to try it again when we were here for lunch. We were the only table booked, and everything looked like a normal pub, but when the starter arrived, I was blown away! We both had the fried sushi rice with gochujang mayo and were both in agreement that it was one of the best things we'd ever tasted. We almost ordered them again! And had we not been completely full after our mains (panko tofu, and pork belly) we would have had them for dessert too, but we were absolutely stuffed. The food arrived so quickly and the staff were so friendly and attentive. I will going back as soon as I can.

We visited the Bank Tavern on a quiet Saturday for lunch. Initially it seemed like a normal pub, but I was blown away by the food. We both had the fried sushi rice and cucumber salad for a starter and I cannot emphasise enough how delicious this was. One bite was all it took for me to reasjust my expectations and realise we were in for a treat. Had we not been loosening our belts during our main course, we'd planned to order another fried rice and cucumber salad! The mains were really lovely too and deceptively filling! It's always nice to feel full after a hearty meal but I'm disappointed I couldn't eat more of their wonderful food! Staff were wonderfully attentive throughout.

Absolutely incredible experience, the food was absolutely fabulous. My sister and I already know about Bank Tavern for the famous Sunday Roast. We couldn’t book for it, so we decided to come for some of pub food. That was absolutely brilliant idea. We had A really great meal. Every single plates was greatly tasty and satisfying. The server was kind and friendly. It was definitely lovely service and some of the best food we had in Bristol.

Completely blowed my mind! Got there by mistake..... But I'll definitely will be coming back by all means. The food is amazing, great ambient and great service. I had a tagliatelle with king shrimps 😱😱😱😱😱 mouth watering. The tacos are the best I ever had outside mexico!

We were welcomed with our dog and ate an excellent burger. Friendly and attentive service. Nice guest room and terrace.

Great drink choices and we loved the food. Really recommend the food annd trying the beers. Our server behind the bar was also lovely and had brilliant knowledge of the beers We’ll be back again!

(From a while ago that I completely forgot to post!) The roasts are still unbeaten for me here. I had the pork belly this time to have a change which is just as good as the lamb. The starters & desserts are always different which I love. The size of the cheeseboard too - unreal!

Delicious roast beef all cooked perfectly with fluffy crunchy roast potatoes and fresh veg then had to have the raspberry and apple crumble with cinnamon ice cream for dessert. Super friendly and relaxed atmosphere would definately recommend if you can ever get in

We were excited to get a reservation, we’d booked well in advance. We arrived, pub was almost empty. Mackerel starter, average, more creamy than tasty mackerel The main Sunday lunch arrived Luke warm, I think the roasties had been warmed up as they were tough to cut and had very little roast taste. Very small veg portion, belly pork, ok but no real quality flavour. The overriding taste though was of sugar. Sweet red cabbage, sweet onion purée, sweet carrots and sweet creamed spinach. Veggie option was a goat cheese tart, bland. Staff attentive and polite but for us it was just an average Sunday lunch.

Friendly service and nice atmosphere for a post-work pint on a Friday eve. The pub is quite small inside but plenty of tables and seating outside too!

We’d wondered what the fuss was, having read in the press how popular their Sunday lunches are. And, to be honest, they lived up to the hype! The beef was delicious, and the roast potatoes possibly the nicest I’ve had. Even the other veggies and Yorkshire pudding were good. Staff were friendly, and the barman kindly whipped up a couple of Virgin Bloody Mary’s for us, which were also great. We will rebook!

There’s a reason why this place has a years long waiting list-without a doubt the best roast you’ll ever eat. Don’t overlook their daily menu either-they do amazing burgers and lunch options. Also one of the best pubs in Bristol for an after work pint or a bit of bandeoke!

i can't comment on the food, however they sell a lovely and very local cider I can definitely recommend. (this review is #1000 by the way)

Had to give props for our new favourite spot!! We’ve stopped in for lunch dinner and now Sunday lunch! I don’t think we have ever made a booking but the gang have always helped us out. We’ve had virgin cocktail (she was pregnant) and house cocktails (I wasn’t) and they slap!! We’ve done small plates for a light lunch. But by far the most impressive of all the experience was Sunday lunch. Just go, please go and enjoy it for yourself.

Well... I was lucky enough to sneak in here for a sunday roast, despite a waiting list of 2+ years! My friend was attending and had a cancellation! Thank goodness they did because my roast was banging! I tend to judge roast dinners out, on their roast potato's... they were crispy and succulent and not what you'd expect from a pub roast dinner. The beef was a teeeeeeny bit tough... well a slice of it was, the other slice was gorgeous and tender. However all of it was cooked to perfection and had a red tinge to it. Juicy and delicious. The celeriac puree had us all talking at the table. It added such great flavours to the whole meal. The cheesy leeks were gorgeous. The service was great, friendly staff, the owner was attentive. We had a few late stragglers and they were OK with that. I believe each booked table has around 1.5-2 hours so bear that in mind. Wine was great, lovely selection on the list. I can't comment on starters or dessert (gutted, I was peer pressured out!) But from what I saw this follows suit. Reasonably priced, around £18 something for a roast. I would love to come again but I doubt I'll be able for many years! Another bonus that we got to meet a well known TV chef amd I was interviewed for a well known prime daytime TV program! I did spot a couple of tables of one, which I may try and hit up in the future!

Very friendly service and nice pub, that serves a great Sunday Roast. Reservations on a weekend for lunch is a must. There take on onion soup was lovely and the roast beef lunch was great also. I will return for sure.
