The Forge in Derby

Visited with my family for my birthday. Staff were lovely and very attentive. Callum and Matt looked after us as well as the others serving food and they were all lovely. We had a mixture of starters which were all beautiful. Camembert in particular was delicious, little recommendation to serve with some chutney rather than the oil but still 10/10! The Chateaubriand for main was stunning. I love the steak served on the stone. Callum and Matt also brought over a birthday board with a shot, lovely touch! Overall the food was amazing, staff were amazing and well worth the money. We will 100% be coming back :)

On arrival in to the bar we were met with a young lad arguing with the bar man and threatening him to take it outside which was a lovely first impression! We were early so asked if we could have a drink to be told there was a 15 minute wait for drinks and it would be best if we went straight to the table. On sitting down at our table we waited 15 minutes for our drinks order to be taken then another 15 for the drinks to come. Our food order was then taken. We then waited another 30 minutes for the starters to come which was very disappointing. My breaded mushrooms were cold but after waiting to so long there was no way I was sending them back. We had to ask for another drinks order to be taken which again took another 15 minutes to come. We then waited 45 minutes for our main. We ordered the chateaubriand to share on the lava rock which should have been accompanied by 4 hot sauces. What a disappointment the chips were raw and I've ate better cuts of the chateaubriand. We never received our hot sauces we ordered too. We have had a chateaubriand at many other places and this was not with the money at all. Overall the service was shocking and when I voiced my disappointment with the whole meal there was a simple sorry about that. I expected more from this place.

Had a table booked here, walked in the barman was very rude. Very abrupt and dismissive. Ended up leaving and asking him to cancel our table he actually seemed happy to do so. Spoke to another customer who was waiting for his main course, he stated he’d been there 2 hours and only had starter.

Nice experience of cooking your steak on a stone. Lucy was amazing, explained how it worked and recommended things off the menu. Lovely food 👍

If I could give this a zero star I would, we were there 2 hours, had to ask for drinks then ask where our starters were, after waiting another hour we cancelled our mains, rude staff, food was not worth the money.

Great steak house. Food was excellent. Three of us had steak and I had the duck. If you like your steak you can't beat it. Great night out. The cooking rocks add to the experience.

We had a fantastic meal here celebrating our son’s 18th birthday. The food was delicious, the service was great and the whole experience was really fun and relaxed. We would all highly recommend this lovely restaurant!

Hard to provide a real review! Was looking forward to a nice Sunday afternoon lunch with the wife, however there was a rave on in that area and we got turned down at the entrance by a security guard!, so can’t fully share my experience.

Such a shame that the customer service is so incredibly cold. Having booked for dinner, my husband felt unwell which made us late but not cancel as we were leaving for the booking. We contacted the restaurant and explained we were running late, I had a bot style reply. We were on our way so I let them know, unfortunately my husband became further unwell and I decided to cancel rather than risk it. I contacted them to explain and got a flat cancellation no contact whatsoever. I had the good grace to speak directly to them, they gave me no such courtesy. We will consider any further booking.

A good idea, but not very well executed. Booked for a Friday night for 5 people. Taken upstairs, then everything took a long time. A long time to order drinks, a long time for them to arrive, a long time to order food. Then, an even longer time. After an hour told one meat (venison) no longer available (surely they knew that when we ordered?) and they managed to sell us the most expensive meat as an alternative. When the food eventually arrived it was nice, but that was almost 2 hours after we arrived. Needs to sharpen up.

Online booking was very easy to use, unlike some other places. I love the fact that we could edit our booking time when we had a problem getting there. Lovely venue. Great food (proper chips!) I went to the forge for my birthday meal on a saturday night with my partner and we were looked after so well. Even tho it was a busy night with christmas partys, the staff were attentive and coukdnt do enough for you. The food was beautiful and I will be coming back again for sure. Overpriced given the concept of not having to pay a chef to cook steaks to order, but good quality meat, tasty chips and an all round fun concept for a meal. Will return but not as frequently as I’d like given the prices. Give it a try!

Stopped in here for a late lunch on Friday. You order by scanning a QR code that takes you to their website. Works well but more of a description would be useful so that you know what you are getting particularly for the desserts. We had a sharing camembert and prosecco cheesecakes which were very good.

Arrived at the steak house around half 8 by 9 o’clock we had been seated and the food was already coming out. The staff are exceptional and the hospitality is amazing never been so welcomed at a restaurant and everyone is friendly. Even though the seating is outside, we were sheltered from the rain and the outdoor heaters made the experience even better. 10/10

Not only was the steak amazing the passion fruit martini was also very good. I am always a fan of the Halloumi fries here. Outdoor seating areas was well covered, heated and spaced.

I love it here! Service is warm, friendly and helpful - even at peak times when you haven’t booked a table. We were lucky enough to turn up out of the blue and be offered a table in 20 mins later. The sun was out so the outside space was perfect!We ordered cider and beer which was cold and refreshing, we also ordered a side of onion rings to share after eyeing up the table next doors. They are immense! We did argue over the 3rd ring though so could have done with an extra one! Ha. There was an issue with my friends QR app and using the online payment system and so an alternative method to pay would be desirable.Whilst we were there we saw some amazing chicken wings being served and so can’t wait to book in properly and try them out. After no hospitality for so long, I’m so glad I chose The Forge for my first bar outing. The Manageress ran the best shift. Team were all very attentive and friendly. We didn’t eat on this occasion but the food that was being served looked and smelt amazing. We had many afternoon drinks, so easy to order through the app. Cheers guys

Went to the Forge last night, what a great place to eat! Had been here a couple of times before and had bee so impressed with the steak that I booked a table a month in avance forSaturday 7th an invited a friend from Suffolk to come and stay the weekend and take her there to let her sample the amazing food. Well, that didn't work out as planned as lockdown happened. My booking was brought forward and I took my vegetarian husband instead. Not the best of places for a veggie but as he said, it's a steakhouse and there were a couple of options for him. My steak was a fabulous as ever. Love the hot brick as being a very slow eater my food is normally cold by the time I come to the end of it. Not here, every last mouthful is hot. Staff were very friendly and efficient, especially our lovely waitress Rhea. Can't wait til it opens again so I can go back. Can't recommend this place highly enough. The location is great too, got a real holiday feel to it. Definitely 10 oout of 10.

Came here with my boyfriend on a last minute booking, managed to book online really easily. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady called Sammy. She told us all the Covid rules and regulations, we sanitised our hands and sat down. I'm a massive gin lover so looking at the hundred Gins behind the bar I was in my element. I had a bubblegum gin and it came really quickly! Darren behind the bar recommended lots more to me which then I later on tried. They where also all amazing.I ordered a rump steak which for £17 you cannot go wrong. It's honestly the best steak I have ever had. Cooking it yourself on the hot stone makes the steak so succulent and it's such an experience. I have been here a few times and every time I come it gets better and better. The staff, the food and service is all 10 out of 10. I would highly recommend this place!!!

Literally nothing around like the experience you get cooking your steak on a hot stone! The meat is beautiful and the salad and chips with it are so tasty. I've recommended to so many people as we keep coming back now. Love it 😀

Where do I start, came into a beautiful environment with lovely welcoming staff, and was pleased to see that the corona virus measures were being taken seriously. For my main course I had a rump steak which I can only describe as out of this world , the steak was so succulent and tender, my mouth is watering at the thought of what the more expensive steaks must be like! The whole cooking the steak on the stone yourself is such a wow factor too. The food came out so quickly i barley had time to drink my first gin! which may I add, what a fabulous array of gins they have to offer. Honeslty my favourite place to eat in the whole of Derbyshire and could not recommend enough, to die for food served by such friendly staff.
