Pleasant restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Waiting time for meal was quite long 45mins though I didn't mind this as wasn't in a rush. Food arrived hot & the staff were friendly Prices were reasonable didn't like the false plants dotted around the tables however. Overall nice wee place that I'd visit again.

Visiting my brother for two weeks, we had two lovely meals here. The steaks were excellent! The main bar is full of friendly folk who are happy to chat. It’s like Cheers transported from Boston to Pathhead - a place “where everyone knows your name”. On a walk in nearby Musselburgh, we met a couple who raved about the Foresters. So locals obviously like it. Highly recommend the steak night on Fridays.

Lovely Pub on main road, and there it ends. My view from any window was marred by the Brakes Frozen Food delivery truck delivering their entire Menu judging by the amount of FROZEN FOOD Boxes being delivered. This is a Pub that boasts locally sourced Food, We think not ! Barmaid that looks like she is chewing a wasp. Not a great stay and we advise anyone to keep on driving.

We enjoyed a delicious birthday lunch at the Foresters. We were particularly impressed with the variety of food available for a country pub. The service was excellent and the food arrived quickly. Quirky small restaurant located outside of the city however I was disappointed to see that they have gotten rid of a lot of the original features of the pub :( however, food was nice. Curry really lovely. Bit of a quiet restaurant which found to be really relaxing. Prices not too bad at all given that it is an independent business. Service was a bit slow, but there wasn’t many staff on so that was to be expected however much quicker than that of your chain restaurants. Everything was clean, in its place. would return:-)

Just had a fantastic family meal At this eaterie in the village of Pathhead on the A68. Very Covid aware with all procedures in place . Great service and cocktails were delicious but most of all the food was fantastic . The Blackened Steamed Haddock was outstanding with very fresh vegetables . The rest of family had fish & chips and was fresh and delicious. If you’re local in the area pop in and support this great venue or if your passing through on A68 heading North or South . This is a must for a stop . We’ll be back.

Booked for the Hogmanay dinner at this venue. Food was lovely atmosphere great. Good value for money. Only problem was the management were very unfriendly and were only interested in making as much money as possible. Tables were being cleared before drinks were finished by the owner. One senior citizen fell because the disco speaker stand was sticking out onto the floor, she was given a piece of kitchen role to stop the blood on her finger and then two plasters were put on the table. The owner was serving at the bar and was not interested and did not even enquire if she was okay. The venue was overfilled. The person in charge of the disco/ karaoke did a super job but unfortunately had little space to work in. At least two other people tripped on the same stands but fortunately did not fall.

We stopped here for coffee and drinks on the way to Edinburgh from Northumberland and ,liked it very much. It is right on the main street as you pass through Pathhead so is a very convenient stopping place. She showed us to a table right by the coal burner and within minutes we had our drinks and the menu. We both chose the roast beef dinner and neither of us were disappointed, the food was excellent, tasted wonderful and presented with yet another beaming smile from our waitress. The dessert was to die for, we both had chocolate cheesecake with cranberries and raspberries and because I couldn't make up my mind between pouring cream or ice cream, she gave me both. Lovely coffee rounded the meal off and was served with a nice little shortbread biscuit. I was pleasantly surprised at the bill, definitely good value for money. We ordered soup and a toasted sandwich each: the waitress went away with the order. Another member of staff came back to say that they only had brown bread for our sandwiches. We said "toasted sandwiches", and that was fine. Soup arrived with ordinary non-toasted sandwiches (!) which had been shown the butter at some point in their short lives. My soup was almost cold. One sparkling water and this came to nearly £15. Awful.

We revisited here last weekend, having been several times over the last few months and been delighted to find such a good place to eat in Pathhead. I'm not sure what's happened but we were very disappointed with the standard of food that we were given. As usual,I had mussels to start; there was no hint of garlic or even a bit of onion and they were so salty I couldn't finish them. Unlike the usual accompaniment of fresh-baked baguette I was given boring sliced white bread. My husband chose the veg lasagne for a main - none left, sorry; the chicken - ditto; the fish and chips - ditto; so had to settle on Mac n Cheese. Would have been better to have explained all this when we were given the menus. Arrived piping hot but pasta overcooked and dish largely disappointing. I chose the smaller portion of fish and chips (obviously the very last piece in the box!); it arrived in batter that was so thick i had to leave most of it. Not the usual light and lovely batter they usually use. There was so little fish in there it was hardly worth the effort, never mind the price. We didn't bother with a sweet, having seen the table next door being given a dish of sticky toffee pud with nothing else on it and having to ask for some ice cream on. My white wine was so warm that I had to ask for ice and hubby's orange and soda hadn't even been given a stir - basics that should have been attended to.We are so disappointed in this change. It was lovely to have somewhere nearby that did pub grub with a flair and we always try to spend our money locally. Staff are grand and the service good, but based on this experience we won't be back.

The food style is affordable, country cuisine which looks and tastes amazing. Ingredients are locally sourced as much as possible. We were hungry on a journey up to Perth and had not seen anywhere serving meals at lunchtime for some distance so stopped here. It was empty when we arrived which did not fill us with confidence. I ordered haddock in beer batter and my husband went for the steak pie with chips and vegetables. His was edible but I did not like the look of the batter on the haddock, it was thick and soggy on the inside. The haddock tasted awful and the texture was mushy. I said I couldn't eat it and to their credit they offered me something else without a quibble, so I had a mediocre cheese omelette. When I went to pay the lady said it tasted all right to her and their fish supplier was very good, perhaps I didn't like the batter? I said that the batter was bad but it wasn't just the taste it was the texture of the fish and said that I lived near to Grimsby, she said that I must be spoilt! Spoilt because I expect decent fresh fish! We are not likely to be in the area again so will not have to avoid using it.
