The Forrester Arms in Graffham, Petworth is one of the best kept secrets in West Sussex. A pub with a genuine local friendly atmosphere added to a unique international menu with dishes not found in other pubs. The food, the atmosphere and the friendly and caring customer service offered by owner David and his staff are simply exemplary. A visit to the Forrester Arms Graffham for drinks and/or a meal indoors or in their beer garden is a must and worth the drive to West Sussex.

Visited as part of our holiday, stayed nearby on campsite. We ordered a Sunday roast, lovely tender beef, homemade Yorkie, tasty gravy and amazing selection of properly cooked veg. We also ordered fish and chips, lovely moist fish (probably haddock) in a thin dry crispy batter, triple cooked chunky chips, peas and homemade tartare sauce, clean plates all round, 3 cask ales on hand pull, all tried and found to be be spot on. Spoke to all the FOH staff and chef during our visit, all very friendly and amazing customer service. Shame we live so far away otherwise this could quite easily become our favourite pub. Not quite sure why this is no.2 and not no.1 in Graffham village 100/100 😀

Stayed here for a night on the South Downs Way with dogs in tow. From the start the atmosphere was lovely with a live singer, we had great food (burger, steak) and stayed the night. The clientele were friendly, relaxed and clearly loving having such a good local. It is countrified and a very old building so it has low doors etc, and some paint peeling in the stairs, but the room itself was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Breakfast was fantastic too. It is a real find and I’ll be recommending to friends doing the Walk.

We enjoyed a good meal here while at a local campsite. I had beef and lamb empanadas with spicy sauce and carrot and sweetcorn salad. It was absolutely delicious. My husband enjoyed his steak with all the trimmings and we shared a yummy rhubarb crumble and custard. Several unusual and delicious sounding options on the menu. Service was good and the atmosphere busy and friendly. Very dog friendly with treats in the bar. We visited for drinks on several occasions sitting inside and outside in the garden. Looking forward to visiting again when in the area.

First visit here and definitely won't be the last. I'm quite wary of many Sunday roast offerings but after glancing at diners plates as I entered all looked good. The best roast potatoes I've ever had out! Thanks for making crispy ones 👌 and not putting them underneath the rest of the food as is currently in vogue at many restaurants. Excellent beef served with plenty of veg. All served by really friendly people too. Thanks very much and see you soon.

This is a great pub to visit in the lovely village of Graffham, which has been refurbished to a good standard. Sadly the food is disappointing. Portion size of the Beef Burger was very small and flavour, not exciting. The chips tasted as if they had been cooked in cooking fat, not oil. The meat in the Beef Pie was very tough. We will not be rushing back this year, but hopefully, they will improve. We visited the pub for lunch and did not stay.

Generally very good and a relief it has finally reopened. Delightful staff, particularly Arthur the manager, and impressive Sunday roasts on two occasions. The weekday evening menu was limited, and the veggie burger was a little disappointing, but everybody else in the party was very happy with their choices. Service is attentive, but not fast. Disconcerted to find 10% been already been added to the bill for service (I would have tipped more than this), including the drinks, which effectively made the excellent real ale £4.40 per pint, but I don't blame them for trying to make some money in what is a very seasonal trade. Disappointingly few local villagers in the place on all three occasions.

First time back to this pub since it was reopened. Really been refurbished well and I thought that it felt more like a village pub again (my partner comes originally from the village) despite the focus really being on food. Lovely welcome (even though we hadn't booked and it was Father's Day!) and we were waited upon quickly. Food all individually cooked so was quite happy with the time that the food took to come. I had the beef roast and my partner had the home made burger. Both meals were superb. Followed up with the Bread and Butter pudding and the "Chocolate Lovers" moose - again no disappointment. In summary a nice feel to the pub with good food and good staff. Would recommend. Will be back for an evening meal.

My only constructive feedback would be that although i would have had my burger medium rare (as it wasn’t a cheap burger) my girlfriend would have preferred it well done, but the option wasn’t given. I also think the owners might also want to review the seating, as a little tight and cramped when full! Staff are super and very friendly! 5/5

We made a last minute decision to visit The Foresters on a Friday evening and when we arrived it was very quiet - just two other people eating and one person standing at the bar. It was our first visit and we were made to feel welcome by the staff but the place was empty and lacked atmosphere. Music was playing behind the bar. It was an album by Adele and the same album was still playing when we left a couple of hours later. Which is fine if you like Adele or don’t like variety in your music. The starters arrived and they were generous. For our main courses we had baby octopus stew (which was good) and I had a burger which was ok. The menu said it was homemade. Ok, here’s my view on the drinks. The Hogs Back TEA was excellent but the wine was not. We ordered a glass of Merlot from the wine list on the blackboard and discovered later that it was a bog-standard bottle of Blossom Hill Merlot which (and I have checked this) sells at Asda for £5 a bottle. We laughed about it at the time but with hindsight you don’t expect to be served the cheapest supermarket wine when paying good money to eat out on a Friday night. I can’t fault the staff and the service, but overall the experience was average.

Just a few poeple in the place, therefore not much of an atmosphere. The service was good, although it seemed like the proprietor and the waitress were trying just a bit too hard. The Hogs Back Tea was well kept and tasted great, but it was the only real ale available. I was asked to order quickly because orders weren't taken after 2.30. I asked for a bottle of Sauvignon and that seemed to be a problem, but nonetheless a bottle of 2009 Marlborough was offered with a coyness suggesting the host expected it to be off. It was good, but surely it couldn't have been the only bottle they had? The meals were good, a starter of Salmon was nice, although we had to ask for salad dressing, main course was very good, the puddings even better. I don't have confidence in the new people and whilst wanting them to obtain great success, I am not holding my breathe.

A warm welcome and good food await you at the Forresters, in a modern, uncluttered bar and restaurant which has been furnished with a sympathetic and tasteful eye on the past. We can't rate the food or drink because we didn't stay. We booked a table for 4 for Thursday night in advance having been a few times in the past 3 years. We arrived to find it was a quiz night which none of the pub staff knew anything about, we couldn't get served at the bar so sat at our table. We were eventually offered 1 menu to share between us (and the surrounding tables.) We waited 45 minutes (wihout a drink) for a waitress to take our order but by then the staff looked so stretched that we were not convinced we'd get our food so we left to ease the pressure!! Apparently it is under new mangement who haven't quite found their way yet. I really wish them well and hope they turn it back round - on our previous visits the food and service were excellent.

We found the service to be very slow and when the food eventually arrived the cheese and bacon roll was sitting in a pool of grease. The salad garnish had a hair in it which was very unpleasant. It's not a gastro pub and doesn't pretend to be. Good wholesome cooked food.noted a comment that its not what it used to be. just found out from the council it was only given a two star rating for hygiene.Thank god then. Anyone that wants pretentious food over a skanky kitchen shouldn't review. Working my way round the Surrey and sussex pubs i found the food pretty decent and very reasonable price. I think i WILL be back!!

Having totally upgraded this delightful country pub, set in the foothills of the South Downs, the new owners pulled out all the stops for our second visit. It is no mean task to serve thirty five very discerning Rolls-Royce owners and members with Sunday Lunch ranging from superb traditional roast beef with potatoes roasted in goose fat , or the baked salmon with a herb crispy crumb served with new potatoes to the italian arrostini e farcito, Without exception all our members were most complimentary, with the chef particularly being singled out for high praise.

We returned to this pub for lunch not knowing there had been a change of owners during the last three months. We have been for lunch several times over the last few years. The menu seemed less extensive and less adventurous. My wife had a beef and pork ragu with pasta whilst I had home made gammon ham with eggs and chips. I had expected the ham to be hot and freshly prepared but instead was straight out of the fridge and made the rest of the dish rather cool. However, both of us did think that the food was good although a little overpriced. The staff were very friendly but the ambience was not there. We will not be going back to this pub in a hurry.

Having been for lunch some time ago we tried this friendly pub for dinner on a Friday evening. Pleased to find they take orders until after 9:00pm and they fitted us in without a problem around 8:30 - plenty of space. Good welcome and served with drinks quite quickly while we examined the menu. Good selection on the menu although the fixed price one had very limited choices, anyway meals ordered and the place was clearly getting busier. Food arrived in good time considering how busy the kitchen must have been, portions were ample and quality top end for a country pub. We were overall very pleased with our evening, great atmosphere, friendly staff, good food and reasonably priced. Definitely goes on our list of places to visit regularly - highly recommended.

We were staying at the nearby Graffham campsite and The Foresters Arms was an easy walk. We had had been recommended by friends to give it a try - we did, six times. We had three lunches and three dinners there during our stay. All the food is freshly prepared in the kitchen, no freezer to microwave stuff here. It was a joy to eat. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The pub does 'meal deals' which are excellent value. Monday night was Pie and a Pint, on Wednesday it was Curry Night and on Thursday the Piece de Resistance, Steak and Wine. I have never had such a good steak (eating out) than the one at The Forester's Arms. All the food was properly cooked and well presented. The wine list pretty comprehensive and I have been reliably informed that the beers were up to standard as wll. The menu is not extensive, hence freshly prepared and cooked food.

Ate here twice during a holiday at the nearby campsite. On first occasion they were extremely busy so there was a delay ordering but service both times was courteous. Food was very good but at the high end of pub prices, we had a range of the menu and everything was excellent, in particular smoked haddock in batter and the tasty appetisers. My ale drinking boyfriend enjoyed the range of beers. They were very child friendly so it's disappointing they had no baby changing facilities. Did seem to be very quiet quite early in the evening, possibly due to location. Definitely worth a visit if you're staying at the campsite.

I've been coming to the foresters for the past 3 years, came again this weekend as ever perfect setting, summer they have a beautiful garden and roaring logs fires in winter- great food, impeccable service. Couldn't ask for more. Should be busier?

Our local pub - but consistently we are the only people there by 9.30pm. Food is good but pricey for a pub - expected in this are however. Even at Xmas time we were the only table in the restaurant which was unexpected as we had to submit our menu choices a week in advance!

4 of us had dinner here after a walk. Warm welcome from the landlady who was friendly and attentive throughout. The mulled cider was perfect and enhanced the cosy, informal feel of the pub. Roaring log fire. Menu choice was interesting, sourced as locally as possible, and food was of high quality with some creative touches. Excellent wine list and good ales. Would definitely come again and can't believe the critical reviews were about the same pub!

A very interesting cafe tucked away down a side passage to this whole food shop. Greeted by the aroma of tasty smells. Ideal for a coffee stop. There were many books and newspapers to keep one amused. There was a selection of healthy foods on offer but essentially I visited with a friend for coffee. No background music which is good as we had a good uninterrupted conversatiin.

the advert is incorrect. No hot food /soup/lunch. only cake coffee/tea. lovely setting bright and airy in the greenhouse

A long overdue revisit. Firstly I love the location. The welcome is great, but best of all is the food and drink – turns it into a wonderful place to be. The toasted sandwiches are labelled by cyclists - I had the Wiggo – kale, pesto, cheddar and onion chutney. Delicious! And the coffee was superb. Another part of the attraction is that I am really looking forward to being there again!

Came here as we were staying in our campsite up the road. I had a high 5 smoothie and a breakfast burrito both days as the first one was so very good -super hot and Delicious-def would go back again and recommend and they allow dogs in too. My partner had the small breakfast and a latte -he said was great as he also had it the 2nd day 😁
