We were greeted by both a smiling and pleasant female receptionist and a male manager? when we attended for lunch with another couple of friends on a weekday and shown to a lovely circular table next to a window overlooking a neat & tidy garden. Clean linen napkins and comfortable seating were provided. However the food was only just about average and overpriced. Whilst starters of 3 soufflés and 1 smoked salmon and 1 main of fish & chips were ok, the other 3 mains were very disappointing; the totally overpriced steak was tough and the accompanying asparagus hard & chewy. The two trout dishes which were unnecessarily swamped in sauce were warm only. When asked by the pleasant female waitress whether “ everything was ok” ? I replied that the 2 trout dishes were not hot enough and both plates and food only warm and added that we did not return them as we suspected that if we had done so they would have been placed in a microwave before being returned. She said that she would inform the chef. However the manager did not show any interest or seek our feedback before we left. We have stayed at the hotel and attended for lunch on previous occasions when everything including the food was excellent. After this experience, we will not be returning.

We stayed in Bosham for 3 nights and visited Marwicks on our last night. We only had 1 course each and ordered some nibbles while we waited but they didn't actually turn up. The menu was quite limited so I plumped for tempura haddock and chips. The batter was very stodgy and a little undercooked and the fish portion very thin. I ate all the fish but left 90% of the tempura batter. The saving grace was the minted pea puree which was delicious. My husband was quite pleased with his main, salmon and cray fish club sandwich. We didn't feel comfortable complaining about the fish as we were seated very close to the table next to us, a little too close for comfort. All in all, a disappointing, mediocre meal.

I had a very unfortunate experience. Although the restaurant was made aware in advance that my food was to be strictly gluten free, they served up my main course with a huge dollop of couscous which is packed with gluten. They were unable to explain how this happened. Since I had been assured the meal was gluten free, I took a mouthful before I realised what I was eating. Fellow coeliac sufferers beware!

A beautiful setting with the stream running through the garden. The restaurant itself was cosy and well spaced. We had the fish and chips - nicely done, the home made curry sauce an interesting addition, and the smoked trout. Both were really well cooked and presented. Lovely staff as well.

We sat In the beautiful garden in the sunshine, the food was excellent and the service from Brigetta was perfect, friendly, efficient and accommodating. I ate the trout which isn’t often on a menu and it was delicious. We were served water when we first sat down which was much needed and we appreciated the wine after because of it! A discreet birthday lunch à quatre in a full restaurant, where we were nonetheless promptly and amiably looked after. What a superb soufflé we all had, followed by the Indonesian dishes and lovely desserts from the Marwick's well-prized menu! With a bottle of Pinot Grigio and four coffees, £163. Well worth the money!

My wife booked afternoon tea and on arrival the booking had been messed up a bit and we were only expected for tea and scones. We pointed out the mistake and they could not have reacted better. They apologised unreservedly, created a lovely tea in a very short space of time, provided excellent, attentive service and also offered a little compensation for the mix up. The food was good, the service superb and the reaction to the mistake was exceptional. Would recommend

My partner pre-booked a table for afternoon tea as we were staying locally for a few days. The service was extremely good and we decided to sit outside under a parasol which was delightful and cool in the gardens, overlooking the road and people walking by. Sadly, the food was not as good as we had hoped. The 3-layered tea stand arrived and the sandwiches on the lower level were OK but pretty tasteless, with seemingly no seasoning. Two scones each on the middle layer were OK but not very light and, although there was clotted cream and jam, I didn't see the need to have a pot of lemon curd too. There were also two shortbread rounds which, again, I felt was too much. The top layer had a vast variety of overly sweet desserts but, by then, we really had no appetite for them. However, the kind waiter brought a box for us to take them away for later, which I have to admit we never ate. The surroundings were delightful but there was way too much food and I noticed another table had also left quite a lot of their food too.

Lovely building, garden and location, and food was OK. But yet again customer service was poor. They display a great lunch/dinner menu but only after going in do you find they offer it at certain times, otherwise just over-priced small portion bar snacks. We met two friends for lunch and had interesting food, well presented and attentive service. We had the oval table in the window which was large and very pleasant. Probably strange for us to to say but the service was a little too quick between courses as we finished one course the next was delivered immediately to the table. The Romanian waiter was very efficient but sadly lacking sufficient English for any interaction. With the Gourmet Society’s discount of 25% the bill came to £67 per couple with drinks. The three course lunch in the “fine dining” area is £27.50 with coffee so probably better value. Not quite an “excellent” but they are trying hard.

At the begging of this year, I travelled to Bosham near Chichester. We celebrated my husband’s birthday in Millstream hotel – a small, boutique hotel and on the last day of our stay we decided to have a Sunday lunch at Marwick’s Brasserie.Location:Marwick’s Brasserie is located in the center of Bosham village in The Millstream hotel. It can be easily reached by car from Portsmouth or Chichester – the drive takes around 20 minutes.Atmosphere:The brasserie creates a welcoming atmosphere with informal surroundings and lots of natural daylight. Our table was attended by a few waiters thought-out the afternoon. They were all friendly and professional. The menu:Marwick’s Brasserie features traditional favourites that change during the seasons. The dishes are prepared using the best ingredients most of them sourced locally.Starters:I decided to order one of the most popular dishes – a twice baked blue cheese soufflé with cheddar and spring onion sauce. It was simply amazing. I love cheese and soufflés so I this starter was perfect. My husband decided to have some free range chicken terrine with mayonnaise and pickled chanterelles with crackers. It was delectable.Mains:There was a nice selection of mains on the menu but as it was Sunday – my husband decided to have a traditional Sunday roast of English beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and red wine gravy.I ordered fillet of bream with a lovely shellfish bisque, crushed new potatoes, spinach, and crab beignet. It was flavoursome.Desserts:My husband decided not to have any dessert as he was full however as I have a very bad sweet tooth, I had some sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice-cream and toffee sauce. It was delish!Overall experience:We both really enjoyed our Sunday lunch at Marwick’s brasserie. Both service and food were great so if you ever in the area then you should definitely experience it yourself.

A very warm welcome and pleasant service continued, the interior was comfortable and refined with a nice ambience and the food was really good! There were some interesting choices on the menu and I liked that you could also have sandwiches as well as a main etc at lunchtime along with 'nibbles' being offered. There seemed to be a good offering of gluten-free alternatives for visitors who require this. The meal got off to a poor start when the manager of the restaurant adopted an attitude that made us feel like he was doing us a favour by allowing us to be here. My partner and I have been wanting to visit Marwick's for some time now. We were given a voucher to use so this was the perfect opportunity. We had high expectations which was quickly let down mainly because of the lack of customer service. We had an early reservation so when we arrived there was no one else in the restaurant. We were greeted by a waiter who took our voucher and said for us to choose a seat and someone will come out to take our order. We chose to sit outside. We waited 35 minutes until someone came to take our drinks order and even then I had to ask for a drinks menu. I could understand if the restaurant was busy but we were the first to arrive. Other customers who arrived after us were served straight away. Once our food order was taken it was quick to come out. The food itself was nice but in my opinion very overpriced for what it is. When we asked for the bill, they didn't take off our voucher and then had the audacity of adding a 10% service charge. I believe I am patient but to wait 35 minutes just to be acknowledged is very poor. We wont be going back to Marwick's.

(Thursday Lunch, bald head so perhaps you could give him some training on politeness). We decided to eat in Marwick's, great choice enjoyed everything and waiting staff excellent. We will visit again when in the area.

We were a large family party in the private room of the restaurant celebrating my grandma’s 90th birthday. We were asked to pre order a few weeks before our party - the menu was varied and exciting. All food was delicious, well presented and served at the same time; we could have done with a break in between courses but didn’t feel too rushed through the meal. The chef kindly gave us the recipe for the ginger pannacotta as it was so tasty we had to ask.

10/09/18. We arrived and there was no room to have a drink upon arrival so we went through to our table. We sat for 15 minutes then ordered drinks. Another 10 minutes passed by before they arrived. We then ordered our meals all guests enjoyed there meals apart from the two who ordered Thai green curry, one in her 20’s and one In her 70’s who between them have been to Thailand many many times and neither could find any resemblance to a Thai green curry. (They would not complain at the table!) I also tried it and it just left a dreadful film of oil across my lips. Had to ask for bread as our main course arrive. Really and truthfully it was like visiting a half hearted pub not like the hotel we have enjoyed for many years previous.

The venue is very nice and the prices are very good, service was ok but had to ask for bread, a basic when serving food. The tempura cod and chips were very nice, the pork burger very good too, but the Thai green curry was probably the most unauthentic, bland and oily muck I've ever tasted. I said to my mother who's birthday it was to mention it, she said please don't spoil the night. Come on, taste what you cook guys and who expects half a centimetre of oil in your bowl if you leave it for a minute. No egg plant, fish sauce, galangal etc. Do contact me if you want an authentic taste to such a basic Thai dish.

Would not recommend, over priced very basic pub food served in a stilted dining room lacking atmosphere. Nicely presented food but over priced for what they serve. Green Tai chicken & veg curry spoiled with cubed aubergine cooked to a slime, and cheese selection was extremely poor definitely not worth the price tag. Would not return, plenty of other good competition.

Very disappointing, it was like dining in an up market retirement home (nothing to do with the clientel) stilted place with no atmosphere, polite staff gliding around in pained disinterest. Menu pretty boring and overpriced for basic pub food. Cheese course £8.50, three very small finger slices of cheddar/ brie/ blue something - all of which sit in my fridge, and not anything to do with the local heritage cheese described on menu. Worse still served on dinner plate at fridge temperature with a few feezing gapes and two slivers of celery, the most boring overpriced cheese I have had. Needless to say I will not be returning and would not recomend.

We had a birthday lunch for my Mum at Marwicks. It was lovely. We only wanted a light snack and they were very accommodating. I had a cold beef sandwich which was succulent, my husband a smoked salmon sandwich and my parents a tasty pea and ham soup. All in all, a good find on the spur of the moment. I have given 4 stars instead of 5 as the service could have been a little quicker. Overall I'd highly recommend though.

My husband and I ate lunch here today. It was a roasting hot summer's day so we sat outside beneath a shady umbrella in front of the hotel in a pleasant leafy garden. The staff were clearly rushed off their feet yet were professional and polite. Fish and chips for two and a large bottle of sparkling water. Tasty fish - large portions and decidedly decent chips. Marwick's is part of a hotel, a few minutes' walk from the harbour so you're away from all the hussle and bussle - plus today out of the hot sun. Prices as you'd expect for a smart hotel in chi chi Bosham. Recommended.

Yesterday, I had lunch at Marwick's with two friends. We all chose the fish of the day, which was plaice. The meal was beautifully presented and, though it didn't look over large, we found it very satisfying - in fact so much so that we felt we could not manage a pudding and asked if there was any chance we could just have fruit. We were then presented with a very colourful and tasty fruit salad.: the perfect end to a lovely meal. To my mind, everything about Marwick’s is perfect. This was my first visit, but it will certainly not be my last. Thank you all at Marwick’s

Has Marwicks changed hands the menu and food a big disappointment and expensive,- -we have been many times before and it was always perfect, but it seem,s very average now with ham egg and chips you can get that in a pub,and all the staff have changed, and a service charge has been added but certainly we didn't get good service, would we go again probably not?

Nice meal good service but did not realise that we had paid 10% gratuity which had been added to our bill until after we had given a generous tip and left the restaurant. Maybe you could have made it a bit more obvious.

As walk-ins to marwicks brasserie on a sunny Sunday we didn't even expect to get seated. But the service was attentive, yet unobtrusive & the fixed price menu (£23 for 2 courses or £27 for 3) was excellent value. We sat outside & the dog was welcomed. We all chose the sticky Thai beef salad starter and sea bream with seafood bisque & crab beignet. It was fantastic. Hands down beats sitting in a squished pub garden. Will definitely be back!

Went for an evening meal with friends. Tried to book a table for 7.30 and was told only 6.30 or 8.30 available. Booked 6.30 and when we arrived we were the only ones there. Tried to put us on a table right by the door with cold drafts and we insisted on another. Ordered food which did not arrive for ages and by 7.30 only one other table occupied. Food was very good however and all was then well until the bill arrived with a 10% service charge added of which there was no mention when we arrived or on the menu. I thought it was a legal requirement for this to be on the menu. Had it removed. When we left at about 8.30 only three other tables had been occupied. The place was half empty and we could have come at any time. Lots of service improvements needed to match the good food.

Not sure that I fully understand the difference between the Brasserie and the Restaurant in the Millstream Hotel inasmuch as the Brasserie offers similar food to the restaurant.

Took friends visiting from Canada to one of my favourite places. Always guaranteed high quality, tasty wonderful food. They were hugely impressed , the cheese soufflé starter went down a storm and there are no words to describe the sublime bream dish. A must visit if you are in the area.

We dined here twice while staying at the Millstream Hotel for a long weekend. We enjoyed two very good dinners including an interesting crab cake starter, cheese soufflé, bream, and posh shepherds pie. The Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc is good but expensive, hotel prices I suppose. (There are cheaper alternatives). If you are a hotel resident, supper at Marwicks makes for a very relaxed and pleasant experience. Recommended.

Fabulous lunch .There is a special 2 course or 3 course menu with a great variety of choice We all had the best cheese souffle ever as our starter . Wonderful varied choice of mains. All our dishes were tasty and served piping hot. The desserts sounded wonderful too, but alas none of us had any room to try. Great attentive service. Would certainly go back.

Were told the restaurant could cater for a Gluten Free diet but their version of being able to cater for me was for the waiter to say, "You cant have that off the menu" and "You can't have this off the menu". No apparent effort to create any of the menu items GF. Whilst I appreciate the kitchen was probably busy it wouldn't take a chef 2 minutes to make for example, some GF batter so I could have had fish and chips or onion rings etc!

We spent 3 days in June staying at the Millstream Hotel (see separate review for the hotel). On the first evening we ate at the Marwick's Brasserie, which is at the hotel. All 4 of us liked the meal very much, so decided to eat there again on the second evening. And...we ate there again on the third evening, because the food was excellent and it seemed pointless to go and look for a good meal somewhere else. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. There was a good choice of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. The desserts were particularly good. They were not too sweet or heavy, with lovely flavours. Wines were also very nice. The staff were efficient and helpful. Excellent food in lovely surroundings

A long overdue revisit. Firstly I love the location. The welcome is great, but best of all is the food and drink – turns it into a wonderful place to be. The toasted sandwiches are labelled by cyclists - I had the Wiggo – kale, pesto, cheddar and onion chutney. Delicious! And the coffee was superb. Another part of the attraction is that I am really looking forward to being there again!

A very interesting cafe tucked away down a side passage to this whole food shop. Greeted by the aroma of tasty smells. Ideal for a coffee stop. There were many books and newspapers to keep one amused. There was a selection of healthy foods on offer but essentially I visited with a friend for coffee. No background music which is good as we had a good uninterrupted conversatiin.

Came here as we were staying in our campsite up the road. I had a high 5 smoothie and a breakfast burrito both days as the first one was so very good -super hot and Delicious-def would go back again and recommend and they allow dogs in too. My partner had the small breakfast and a latte -he said was great as he also had it the 2nd day 😁
