The best place for a pub lunch in Chichester. Typical pub food but cooked to perfection. Add to that super friendly bar service from Donna and you have the complete package. Highly recommended.

Good food. Polite staff. What more could you ask for? Old school pub. Please don't change.

Really nice wee pub with a lovely beer garden. They had a pool table out back too and darts which is cool. It was ghostly quiet but in fairness it was a Tuesday and it seems like a more layed back bar. Great for post show drinks.

The Eastgate Public House in Eastgate Square in Chichester … We just don’t like it… WE LOVE IT!!! & so say all of us - & that’s a fact!!! So - a personal apology to the lovely Donna (& not forgetting her Mum Pat) for not mentioning her in my last review - shame on me). I listed most of the bar staff, but sadly didn’t name Donna - I hope this goes some way to some sort of forgiveness??? The most friendly pub in Chichester. Great, fun, friendly staff and landladys. Good homecooked food at lunchtime. Dog friendly, A very good selection of drinks and a lovely suntrap of a garden. You couldnt wish for anything more !

We were broke our journey from the New Forest to Eastbourne in Chichester, and had seen good reviews so looked in. Just before 12noon it was extremely quiet but by the time we'd toured the nearby shops we were lucky to get a table. The Eastgate might be a somewhat basic pub, but the service and the food was great. And prices were reasonable.

Fantastic food everytime. Bursting with flavour. As its friday today , it would be rude not to have Fish and Chips. " Proper grub at great prices" ! The menu is good and lots of selection. Added to that, wonderful friendly service, As the saying goes.... Why go anywhere else !

Went there to watch a scar and reggae band last night best night in a long time staff lovely atmosphere brilliant and very friendly will be going back for sure x

Today I had a drink and meal with two friends, as soon as we got to the table that I booked we were welcomed by a staff member who was very polite and friendly, we ordered drinks and after they were delivered we ordered food, it didn't take long before the food was delivered to us, we all enjoyed it, I even asked for the staff member who cleaned the table to give my complaints to the cook, This is not the first time we have been there and every time we go there we always get great service and food.

Another beautifully cooked lunch in Chichesters friendliest boozer. Today the mature cheddar and leak pie and the steak and ale pie. Chunky chips and fresh vegetables. All cooked to perfection. All washed down by a couple of Crabbies and a couple of Newcastle Brown Ales. Friendly bar and table service by Alex, Very good pricing and although we didnt have our pooch with us today, the pub is dog friendly. We honestly do not think you will find a friendlier boozer in Chichester. Take our challenge !!

A proper 'Old School' pub. Warm and cosy. Always a good atmosphere. Friendly bar staff and a decent choice of Fullers ales, guest beers and pub food. Small beer garden at the rear, or sit at the front and watch the world go by.... Pool table and darts board. Occasional live music. Well run. I would recommend.

Nice little cozy pub with both front and rear gardens. The staff is great. Very lively crowd and atmosphere. Not a college crowd kind of pub though. Awesome place to spend an evening.

Ive been there on various occasions before and after having a meal in Chi with friends, the staff are always very welcoming and friendly. It's the kind of pub a woman on her own could walk into and have a drink without having any aggro. I've not eaten there but have heard the food is very good. Best pub in Chichester.

Went to see Liz Angioni sing at this venue. It was a fabulous night. She is not only a singer but a great entertainer. A wonderful evening don't miss her next time she is at the easter gate.

Chichesters friendliest pub never fails to impress. The food today was amazing and the drinks every ( yes, you read that correct) Sunday are always served by the friendliest team. Its got a jukebox and is dog friendly. Highly recommended

Booked a table for Sunday lunch the day before & it was all ready, with our name on it. Roast lunch with six veg was excellent, nicely served. Staff very friendly, drinks not expensive, strongly recommend.

A return visit after 3 years today. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Sunday roast was good quality and amazing value. See why so many people were doing the same. A really nice traditional pub which is run really well. Can't wait to get back to Chichester for another visit.

Yes nice little pub in The Hornet area of Chichester. Had a pleasant pint of London Pride sitting in the rear garden. Pub was very quite, maybe it was because it was only 3.30 in the afternoon. Staff were plesant and cheerful and there was food being served. Does get busier in the evening. I will be back for another pint or two over the coming weeks if this hot weather keeps up.

Better food at Poundland truly revolting, animals throw up more flavour and at least that's free.

Under paying employees and using cash-in hand to avoid paying tax, awful service and mid food not worth the hassle of taking out your wallet.

Lovely locals pub. A proper pub with good pub grub with great roasts on Sundays. Good selection of ales. Very pleasant staff. They also have good music groups and DJ's on at weekends, check out their website for more detail.

We had Sunday lunch here on 27th Feb. Not knowing what to expect and the cost we were very very very delighted with the £10 roast beef dinner. Extra gravy always goes down well with me. Lovely service. Will be back

Sweaty, smelly bodies dancing in someone's lounge with the DJ set up on the dining table playing 80s music id never heard before...weirdest dance floor I've ever graced. Gin was a reasonable price with a good selection too.

Absolutely love this good old fashioned pub in Chichester! We visit regularly with friends and family, the food, drinks and service are excellent every time! I believe they have entertainment in the evenings but a little late for me! Keep up the great work!

Our second visit to The Eastgate. The first about eight years ago. Then we thought it a quiet, unkept dive for locals only. This visit - totally the opposite. bright, cheery, welcoming traditional pub. Well worth giving it a second chance and will return when...
