The Crown Inn in Chichester

We came to The Crown Inn for a Sunday roast as we were staying at the caravan park nearby. Unfortunately by the time we arrived the restaurant had sold out of roasts so we had to order from the normal menu. We were not disappointed, the food was delicious and we would recommend it to anyone staying nearby.

We were looking for somewhere nice to have a family dinner. This place allowed us to bring our small dog unlike other places.

The pub itself lovely. Entertainment spot on. Locals and staff, Im afraid let this place down.

So we recently moved here. The meals were amazing! Compliments to the chef! Have never tasted better pork belly ribs!! Paula is a beautiful human! Mega evening. X

We booked a table for four on Saturday night, when we went into the pub the only member of staff was draped over the till chatting up some bloke. Not even a good evening. We stood waiting and after a wile a young chap came out and we told him we had a table booked,he said oh yeah the one over there. Well the table was up against a post and the table nextdoor the chap sort of used all the space. No way could we get to sit down. The young chap tried to find a table but the girl behind the bar said we would have to wait half an hour or so . As my son in law owns property in selsea and we are not tourists. We were treated terribly.

Just ate there had small bite dinners, very nice, staff really friendly. Will definitely go again

A lovely place to spend an afternoon! We were welcomed like old friends or regulars! Gorgeous decor, great attention to detail! Food was reasonably priced and delish! We will return ☺️

Absolutely lovely pub. Visited a couple of times for lunch with our dogs. Food was delicious, staff very polite, friendly and helpful. Even brought out bowls of water for the dogs Will definitely return if we are back down that way.

We were served by Paula, who went above and beyond to cater for all our needs which couldn’t have been easy as we were a party of 26. Come here every time we come down to the caravan and is always quality. Good beer,good food, friendly staff and footballs on with a live singer. Can’t go wrong!

We had a bottomless brunch and we couldn't be happier with the service or value. Ben was such a lovely guy, and one of the top people you would ever want serving you. Good chat and made sure there was no chance of us being thirsty. Thank you so much.

Not sure what everyone else complained about, the food bang on, drinks excellent and service attentive and fair. You wait for luxury, and that’s what they delivered. Entertainment was great and even though let down by no ribs server recommended other food and was delicious. Thank you

We were staying in a near by caravan park and wanted somewhere to celebrate a friends birthday. We called ahead to check about accommodating a large group of 38 including children, staff were friendly from first contact and informed us that tables were reserved for the evening so should we wish to order food to get there prior to this but no need to pre-order and to get there when we were ready. The pub is beautifully decorated, table arrangements for everyone. There was a free pool table that kept the children entertained and a great outside area with wooden sheds and TVs in each, a stage was set up for an event they were running on the Sunday. Toilets impeccable cleaned and even one of the children commented how lovely they smelled. Megan and Dan could not do enough for us and all with a smile, we stayed longer than planned due to the excellent service we received. Not only that they fed all 38 of us with no stress/fuss and the food was delicious. We had a great afternoon/evening and have talked about it fondly. We are only disappointed we hadn’t fond it sooner and our only negative point is that it is not located closer to where we all live.

I live very close to the pub. It's currently 23:10 on a Wednesday evening and music is loud and people are shouting screaming and swearing in the back garden. I have to be up at 5am. They couldn't care less about residents near by. The pub is a joke

I really enjoyed going to the crown bar and restaurant the food was delicious with generous portions. The atmosphere was friendly, welcoming and pleasant. Meg was a great host and would definitely come back again. Overall me and my family had a great time and enjoyed the venue.

Most expensive pint of peroni I've ever had £7 pint more expensive than london and £5.50 for a bottle of corona

Nice place to eat, service was good prices were reasonable there was 13 of us and food was out pretty quick. Look like there was lots of entertainment planned would like to go plback and watch some. There were several booths in the garden with t.v's,lights and speakers. Also there is a stage in the garden for the entertainment we'll wort a visit.

It’s such a persnickety community sometimes…. It took me ages to engage and book a roast dinner…. I can be a kinda snob…. too.. So…. I’m humbled…. Perfectly cooked, presented, roast dinner. The sides… I felt a clever “up sale” here…Not true…. The cauliflower cheese deserves an independent slot in this roastie menu… indelicately put…. It’s fecking awesome as are the Yorkies… As for the . Service…. Right amount of bantz with swift smiling delivery. Thank you Paula for making the day so much fun. We got lucky and unintentionally “bumped” into afternoon entertainment…. Mucky Fingers…. Bloody wonderful.. thank you Selsey Crown Team. Honestly…. Just do it…. Just pitch up…. It’ll knock your socks off.

To say it was a mistake coming here is an understatement. Really poor food and service. I would not recommend eating here, especially given the choice in the area.

Amazing family friendly pub , the staff are always very welcoming , the food was amazing , fresh , hot and a great selection of food and drinks available , 2 for 1 cocktails are great and again a great selection to choose from across the board , a free pool table was great for the older children and a play park for the younger ones kept them all entertained, they had a live band playing outside who were great and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves from start to finish , we managed to get a booth outside to enjoy the warm weather but keep in the shade , James the bar manager was very helpful throughout our stay and a big shout to all the team who were all working very hard for a busy Sunday , its a must go and visit when in Selsey and the entertainment line up they have is another level , highly recommend this place, thank you for an amazing day out ☺️

Fantastic food. We were a very large group and everyone loved their food. We enjoyed the live music too! The owner is lovely and staff were great.

Over promising - Massively Under delivered Haven't seen a such badly run pub for so long. Awfully welcomed despite having booked but no one was aware of the booking despite phoning. Tables and floor were dirty and sticky. Been told that there will be over an hour wait only to be told when we were ready to order that half of the menu was out of stock. The only thing we got from the time of calling to the time of leaving was apologies or excuses delivered by untrained and unmanaged staff Shame

Booked a family Sunday roast for 5pm very poor quality no empathy from staff even though they agreed that the food was not a great quality very disappointing considering the trio of roast was not cheap would not recommend

Very welcome we got from the staff a lot better than years ago didn't go in there for years not a very nice place but completely changed for the better The only thing i would say not only the crown the food and drinks are very expensive now to go out a family of 4 now you are talking £80 plus if it was a bit cheaper I think it would get packed saying that the food was very nice

Don't visit of a night time but I'm sure the entertainment is good what I can hear from my house. Staff are great. Like the booths in the garden. My 'go to' pub when I return home on leave. Drinks a bit pricy. Never eaten there.

We ordered two american burger the buns are cold and the patty was raw. I tried telling the waitress she said we have to tell them how we like the burger. Def i would not like to eat raw burger with cold buns.

We come here whenever we vist Selsey and the food at The Crown is Brilliant, we had a roast today and the food was cooked prefect. The staff are very friendly and I would recommend a vist .

Had the most amazing home cooked roast dinner! The pub inside is lovely and bright and outside there is plenty of seating and booths with TVs so we were able to watch the F1 !

Went to the crown for a family 60th birthday lunch on Sunday the staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome and the food was excellent . Also had live music which was great would recommend the crown

Popped into the crown , lovely welcome from Reilly great barman so friendly explained my sons special needs when ordering food nothing was go much of a problem 👌🏼

What a lovely pub, should be called jewel in the crown!. Very accommodating for children, really helpful staff very friendly. My daughter is coeliac and the bar person was very knowledgeable in what she could eat. I don't normally eat burgers but I can honestly say it was a really lovely burger no gristle just juicy. The pub is clean and tidy, toilets clean, with child seats too. An area outside for children to play and outside seating and they allow dogs. Accommodating all. Will definitely be returning.

Had a family roast, it was delicious only thing to complain about were the roast potatoes were too crispy couldn’t eat them otherwise perfect. The service was first class especially Meg amazing, thank you for a lovely lunch

Had Easter lunch here today and it was amazing! The lamb was absolutely delicious and the staff were great, especially our server, Meg. What a lovely young lady. We will definitely be back during our next weekend at our caravan. Thanks again! Barb

Amazing food and fantastic service. Megan was an excellent waitress. The sunday roast was one of the best I’ve had. The roast potatoes and pork was cooked to perfection.

We popped in for dinner on a busy Friday evening with no booking, but we were happily accommodated. Despite there being a small delay with our food order, they could not have been more apologetic and polite. Great pub with lovely decor, friendly staff, top notch food and drinks.

Met up with a friend for mid week lunch ,lovely family friendly atmosphere delicious food , attentive and very friendly staff , I’ve been here for Sunday lunch too and they never disappoint, my favourite place to eat , highly recommended.

Went for a special occasion and unfortunately my son and I both ordered the ribs. Awful! Dry and tasteless, had to ask for steak knives to cut meat and then still couldn't cut them. Noisy, expensive pub with dirty tables and very disappointing, can't recommend .Won't be going back!

Lovely atmosphere, really friendly and the Sunday roast was great! My Brother really loved the vegetarian option. The fact that we can take the dog too made it perfect! Paula, who served us was lovely and welcoming. We’ll definitely be back!!

Went for a Sunday roast , food was cold and small portions , rock hard roasties. Had to wait over 45mins for a pudding as they said not enough microwaves but states fresh food. Alot of money for the poor food quality and staff not...

Had an amazing Roast cooked to perfection never disappoints when we eat at the Crown , a lovely atmosphere and service was prompt eventhough it was busy .

Came for roast dinner .we were a bit late to be honest but the portion was very small not that hot .but the service was ok .probably wouldn't go back again for dinner

Very enjoyable lunch today and best of all real Coca-Cola at last a decent pub, made so welcome we will be back would like to be there Christmas eve looking forward to that.

We went on Thursday pm The staff were friendly, but whilst the menu was varied, the quality is average at best Chicken Curry and rice, just above a microwave standard Fish and chips, chips, and mushy peas were nice, fish was double fried/ over cooked and a thin piece of cod in side that lacked flavour I had the pork ribs, and the sauce was heavy and very sweet. The meat itself was too fatty Free pool is a real plus and not over priced I'd come back for a drink and poolbut the food was not up to gastro-pub standard

Food portions a bit on the small side in my opinion for the price. I didn't have a burger but people I was with did and they looked and was told they were very tasty but like I said the portion of chips which came with them seem very small compared to other places nearby. Ordered a roast as roasts served from 12 - 6 . No roast potatoes. Ordered the pie (new forest pie) was a little black on top and he filling was cold and congealed. Mash was not proper mash. Was smash, which was disgusting meant to be served with Gravy but had to wait for 10 minutes for the bisto lumpy Gravy. Very expensive, poor quality. Poor service at the bar and delivery of food. Will not be returning. Very disappointing

Good atmosphere stsff were quick in taking the order Unfortunatly the pie was not great over cooked and dry was asked if i wanted gravy which never arrived so a very disapointing meal. On the plus side the ribs were very good lots of meat, again cpuld do with a bit more sauce but good value for the ribs Dog freindly will try again could just be a bad evening.

Had great hopes for this place. Great staff, warm and friendly. Took a seat in the 'stables'. Dog friendly and kid friendly. Promising menu. Unfortunately the pies we ordered were nuked to death and half of mine was rock hard. Even the dog had trouble eating it. Such a shame.

Nice pub, friendly staff and delicious food, the burgers are really tasty. Plenty of parking in the pay and display at the back which is free after 6pm.

Visited as a family of 6 on Saturday, 9th September, sat in the beer garden, we did, however, use the facilities, which were very clean. Friendly staff, food, and drink were great, and as was the price. Would visit again and highly recommend

Not visited this pub before but was searching for a pub roast in selsey on Sunday. The pub boasts a huge rear garden with booths there were plenty avaliable even though the football was on. Staff were extremely friendly which was nice. Atmosphere was fine not too loud even though the game was on. Kids play park is a very nice touch as its all gated. We both had the roast beef which we were told was fresh and it was yes just not the greatest of quality meat but cooked nicely enough although plenty of veg potatoes and Yorkshire pudding and at £15.60 per person we thought that was very reasonable as some gastro pubs you can pay from £20/£30 per adult. Great selection of lagers and plenty of diffrent gin to the wife's taste. Would we re visit I'd say yes for sure. Just for the fact the staff were so nice. If your in selsey give this a try. Side note the carpark is a little further on behind the pub which is pay and display but free on Sundays.
