Do not recommend! Very abrupt owner/ manager, sat down for a drink which cost £30 for our round and to watch entertainment, would have stayed but my 12 year old granddaughter was approached and spoken to Very rudely as she attempted to charge her phone at the socket available at the table their loss would have stayed and spent a lot more money!!! Left immediately after.

First visit to the Fontygary Inn for Sunday lunch, it will not be the last time, a really enjoyable meal, the staff were very friendly and helpful, would recommend it.

We booked for an Easter Sunday lunch for a party of seven. The food was excellent, the staff were very friendly and the menu was very well priced. I would definitely book again if in the area

Had a Steak Sizzler with a few extra fried eggs & Blue cheese Sauce, The Meal was unbelievable & quality at its best, Steak cooked to my perfection & on a bed of superbly cooked Fried onions, Chips were amazing & Fried eggs again were perfect, Also the Blue cheese sauce was unreal, wife had Hunters Chicken meal & again was perfect in fact she said it was the best meal she had ever had anywhere. I have been many times & always had nothing but real decent food at the Fontygary Inn & will be going back shortly, If you want a very nice Pub with excellent atmosphere & unbelievable food, make you way here.

Used to get a good meal here but standards have dropped dramatically, called in lunchtime ordered sausage and chips, the chips were inedible, no proper chips just a bowl of burnt scraps, and for that and 2 sausages it cost a tenner, used to be our regular go to for Sunday lunch, don’t think we shall go there again.

We found this spot by searching on brit stops. Lovely pub, great food, fantastic welcoming staff. Breakfast was amazing. Would stop again.

We arrived on Sunday 27th august from Birmingham around 3pm to spend the night in the touring park ..had an amazing Sunday lunch and was so nice to sit in such a friendly pub where everyone is welcome and the atmosphere was just how a pub should be ..we don’t get that in Birmingham ..everyone is so friendly we didn’t feel out of place at all and the staff were fantastic ..we had problems with our van and had to fix it and the owner could not have been more understanding patient and kind to us he even went and fetched us some tools to help us get it fixed ..and found us a space to stay an extra night and told us to take our time there was no rush to leave ..the other people on the touring park who I understand are permanent residents were so helpful lending us tools and being so friendly and chatty there was even a man on holiday who took my partner to get some replacement parts from nearby Barry ..what can I say absolutely fantastic place with even more fantastic people thankyou so much we can’t wait to return

Saturday morning breakfast 10-12 always try and get to this independently owned pub, butcher quality sausages and bacon, highly recommend 😘

We are rarely astonished how bad food can be but this was one of those occasions. When you go to a pub, you expect pub food not gastronomy, but you do expect fresh and flavoursome. The “triple” cooked fries were barely cooked at all and were drenched in fat. We were able to squeeze the fries and oil would drip from each chip like a leaky tap. The burgers were over cooked and presented in a dry bun (no garnish, no salad, onions etc) it looked like school dinners at best. When we asked for some salad, they were returned with one bit of lettuce and a wedge of lazy cut tomato where the top of the bun wobbled as it if we’re a poorly fitting hat. Note to management. Your front of house staff are great and they are being totally let down with a very poor catering team - either sort your chefs out or stop serving food as it will destroy your business.

Absolutely terrible unfortunately... The service staff are always good here, however the owner is another story. His name Is Kev by the way just so you can steer clear of you are unlucky enough to come across this specimen. I went to use the men's toilets and was told it was being cleaned. After I asked if there's another toilet I Could use (I know there is another public toilet round the back of the pub)I was told I would "have to f**** wait". I obviously confronted him about the way he spoke To me and I was told to leave. Honestly there are many better places to eat in Rhoose very close tto this place. If you aree after nice pub food go to the Highwayman up the road. Or there's the Raj Kinara, a stunning Indian, 2 minutes away!

Food was excellent, good portion sizes and the staff were very attentive. I'd definitely return, lovely evening meal.

Stayed in the touring park for two nights and could not fault it! The owners were so lovely and welcoming as was the young lad behind the bar. Food was beautiful especially the steak and the faggots. Such a friendly locals pub with a pool table which my son loved! Two minute walk to the leisure facilities and beach which was also lovely. Will be here again. Been here twice over the weekend Friday food was lovely. Came here Saturday to watch the rugby and have food four of us. 3 meals were ok but I had a madras which was by far the worst i have ever had, when asked if everything was ok with the food I told the waitress it was not she gave me a look and walked away. Not impressed at all complete waste of money.

This pub has a massive potential!!! Large outside play area for children under 12 years! Large indoor bar/eating area, with sports TV's. Polite staff Large meals (quantity not quality) Could be a lot cleaner! Really disappointed after recommendations.

Cant find a fault with this place! (100% On the new COVID-19 regulations). Gorgeous food, plenty for your money, staff are approachable polite and welcoming. Even the owner comes around makes conversation with you and makes sure everything’s ok. Cannot recommendation this place enough.

What a fantastic night on Saturday celebrating a friends wedding anniversary. Everything was perfect. Being a fussy vegetarian there was so much choice for me with the buffet. Great atmosphere at the private function and in the main bar and even though it was busy we were never kept waiting to get drinks. Great service as always

5-03-2020 myself and my friend witness a discrimination against a disabled man. He had been asked to leave the premises, due to his drain which is attached to his body. Apparently this was causing offence.Not only is this man going through what seemed like an awful time in life, he had to be embarrassed in front of his family and public who he did not even know.The food wasn't even warm when it came out either.

Nice pub plenty of parking, good menu, good food, good value especially at lunchtime. Food arrived piping hot which makes a change from some places where the plates are red hot but the food lukewarm. The food at the Fontegary is good staple pub food, just what you need on a cold day. Good range of beers and ciders, friendly staff.

Fabulous food. The owners Kerry and Kevin are forever welcoming to everyone. Really good entertainment nights. The touring site is for 12 caravan's/campervan's. All facilities catered for. I cannot praise this well run public house enough.

So many times you’ve probably driven through Rhoose going further down the Vale. And every time you drive through you probably will pass the Fontygary Inn on the main road. Today we decided to pop in just on the off chance and we weren’t disappointed. A warm welcome awaited us. It’s mid-January so I guess it’s not too busy because of post-Christmas etc. This is quite simply a great place to go for Sunday lunch and I really would highly recommend. Both hubby and I decided on the beef although there was a choice of pork and turkey too. They’ve also added scampi and ham and eggs with chips if you don’t fancy the Sunday standard roast. We didn’t have a long wait before a well sized, piping hot plate of roast and side portion of well cooked vegetables on the side were brought to us. The food was everything you want from very good home cooked food. The beef was a triumph today - so much so, credit must be given to whoever got up early to put the beef in the oven; tender, melt in the mouth and succulent! Lovely variety of veg and smooth, meaty gravy just complimented the meal - by the end we were so, so full! At £9.45 this is a bargain! The staff are always so lovely and we were checked on and replenished with gravy no problem. We have booked in the past and I guess it’s wise to do so.... we will definitely be back in 2020... thank you so much for a lovely meal x

Yesterday, following a drive to watch grandson play rugby (thankfully KO was after the Welsh Game in Japan) we decided to dine out for Sunday lunch. Well when your out and about why not. After a drive arounf the Vale of Glamorgan we called in at the Fontygary Inn in the hope that we could get a table (Booking is always recommended) and as luck had it they found us a table in the bar area. Roast beef for me and the Lamb (£1 extra) for my wife. We were not to be disappointed, two thick slices of beef on my plate accomapanied by roast & boiled potatoes, roast parsnip, and yorkshire pud The lamb dinner had even more meath. The whole meal was served piping hot with a dish of seasonal vegetables to share. Plus a jug of wonderful home made gravy.... We have eaten here before and once again were not disappointed with the quality or quantity of the food supplied.My suggestion would be if you want to make sure of a table book, we called in on the off chance that we maight get one and were lucky. During the summer months it is always adviseable to book as there are so manu holiday makers in the area and a large holiday park nearby.

Great place - very popular with locals and holiday-makers whether for meals or drinks. Owners have put a lot of time and effort into keeping the place up to date so well done for that , My only complaint - being served !! I don't mean by the bar staff - I mean getting to the bar in the first place . I have been to many ' pubs ' where you are requested to leave the bar once you have been served, particularly at busy times to allow others to get to it . I have noticed some won't move even when they know you are standing behind them wishing to get to the bar . Plenty of seats and tables available inside and outside so what's the problem guys ? Think about it owners , please

Food excellent, generally the pub is great, but apparently no children allowed after 9.30, we we're told to leave in no uncertain terms, after spending an adequate amount of money there, what a shame, we we're going to book lunch for the following day with friends and lunch on the Sunday with family. We will not go there again, ever. There's a way to say things and obviously the owner/manager has no communication skills.

Had the kids in there for a couple of hours playing pool, decided to sit in the bar to watch the entertainment, only for the rude owner/manager to rush over and tell us that '' we're a pub not a holiday park, no kids allowed anywhere in here at all ''... If it wasn't for the holiday park across the road that pub would be deserted, probably closed down. Not a family pub.

Went for a drive on a wet Sunday afternoon decided to call into this friendly looking pub wasn't disappointed,we were shown to a table ordered our meals it came within 10mins and was absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend this not sure of normal meals but Sunday roast 10 out of 10.

We called in for a quick lunch on a busy Bank Holiday Monday. We both ordered panini and home cooked chips and a pint. This is a traditional pub leaning towards the food side and it works just fine. The decor was clean but a little tired in places but nothing of concern.

we met a friend for a get-together meal here and had a fabulous time. Very friendly and efficient service supported with 3 good meals. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will definitely go back when we are in the area again and would happily recommend it to our family and friends.

I haven’t been to this pub for years, it’s very busy and they cook nice food, there is a play park for the children and a large beer garden with benches that are covered in case of rain. The bar area is large and there is a snooker room, mostly locals in the snooker room. The pub was friendly and the staff nice. Nice place to go if you are in the caravan park.

Great Pub, really lovely friendly staff and excellent food especially Thursday curry night, great value for money. Has a good beer garden with a great children's play area and the cute pub cat called Fluffy!

Never been here before though must admit have driven past several times. Staff serving were friendly and food arrived promptly. Hot plates and delicious food that was reasonably priced. We were pleasantly surprised. Will definitely be visiting again. No negatives at all from our visit

Decided to try luncheon at a different local inn for a change and found this establishment to be worthy of its reputation. My wife, daughter and I each chose a different midday meal from the menu and found the service and food to be excellent. ‘Washed down’ with various drinks, everything was reasonably priced and I would recommend this inn to anyone requiring good food and a very varied menu and offering specially priced meals on different days. We have yet to sample their advertised Sunday luncheon which I'm sure, will be excellent too.

we went here the other day it was busy i admit but there were no tables inside to have a drink unless you had food and at that point wasnt sure if we did or not .we had to sit at bar on stools which were uncomfortable and didnt really feel.welcome . The drinks werent cheap and when later on they had a table we were asked again if we wanted food .

Just come back from a lovely lunch. My dad enjoyed his steak, i had lamb shank and my son had the platter (best garlic bread ever apparently). Good size servings and good value for money. Staff friendy and attentive.

We often come to the Inn for Sunday lunch but tonight the food was awesome. It’s a homely pub with a nice vibe and staff always so friendly. I had a stunning hunter’s chicken which was fresh, succulent and seasoned well. Alongside a crisp salad and a generous jug of Caesar dressing - compliments to the chef for a lovely meal. My other half absolutely loves the authentic faggots and peas here. Reminds him of his youth and always such a generous portion. It would be lovely to know locals in the Vale don’t miss out on this little gem - it’s not just for holiday makers at the Caravan Park....thank you for a lovely meal guys- we will be back!!!

Have eaten at this pub several times had the food has always been very good. The home cooked chips were always excellent. On the last 2 occasions however what is obviously frozen chips have been served which are no where near as good as what they should be and what it states on the menu.

We visited the Fontygary inn for my nans birthday meal. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant and friendly staff.The meal itself was average - I chose the chicken salad which was very generous in size but lacked flavour. Others in my group enjoyed the lasagne.

Family of eight of us visited for the first time can highly recommend this pub really fantastic food real choice on the menu every single plate empty says a lot and equally as yummy pudding lovely friendly staff and atmosphere thanks you will definitely be back x

Have eaten here quite a few times and the food is excellent. They offer breakfast from 10am on the weekends which is very nice. I have eaten a variety of the meals on offer and all have been cooked wonderfully and the food is good...

Fantastic meal thoroughly enjoyed the meals. Kids also very happy with options available. Only small suggestion was that the starters could have been served a bit better (maybe side salad) but didn’t impact on great taste. Will return 100%
