First time visit. Will definitely be returning

Such a lovely place, great welcoming atmosphere and kind people who work there - thank you. They accommodate children so well and are always happy to help!

The food is excellent (especially the bacon sandwich and carrot cake). It can get busy very quickly which makes it hard to find a seat, a lot of people book tables ahead of time which makes it more difficult. Quick update. I’ve knocked off a star from Romillys; the food is still great but I’ve become increasingly frustrated at their inflexibility with anything on the menu. Don’t ask for any changes! It’s not a deal breaker but when you are paying £11 for two sandwiches (take out) I’d expect the service to be better. I’ve started to drive to Mrs Marcos in Porthkerry Park, food quality is just as good and their customer service is leaps better.

Excellent lunchtime stop. Calm relaxed atmosphere overlooking park/lake. Busy spot at lunchtime. Fast efficient service by pleasant welcoming staff. As it was a rare sunny March day I decided to sit outside. Lots of seats inside and out. If you’re into coffee then you’re in luck, good coffee. Lunch time “specials” offer a great selection for all tastes. Varied menu also available as well as take away. I opted for the Club Special Sandwich - fresh, tasty with ample amount of tasty fillings, freshly prepared and well presented. Plenty inhouse baking to spoil anyone with a sweet tooth. I was not disappointed and would recommend for lunch. Well done Romillys.

The very best place to enjoy a delicious afternoon tea. You always receive a very warm welcome from the lovely staff. A generous range of fresh sandwiches and cakes are beautifully presented in an individual box. The tea, coffee and Prosecco are excellent, too. All in all, a really special experience at a very reasonable price.

This is for the Romilly Too, Custard Slice was amazing. There are no photos as I was hungry and it was too good. Two for two was enough for four. Dog friendly will come here again

We visited here whilst in the area and it was very busy which gave us hope that this was a sign of quality. We decided to come back later once it had quietened down and we were able to grab table. The staff were friendly and offered to make the kids hot chocolate a little cooler. My only complaint is they didn't ask if I wanted chocolate sprinkled on my coffee which takes away from the taste (but I forgot to ask that it not be added). Otherwise it was a good experience.

Lovely cream tea experience. All packed in a box if you need to take anything home. Sandwiches, home made scone, with pots of cream and jam, a cup cake, brownie, and more. Really recommend this, and most definitely value for money. Thank you Karen and ladies for a great afternoon out. X

We came for lunch with our dog on a cold and wet February day. We were welcomed with a big smile and a hearty meal ( a falafel salad) and a cup of tea. It was delicious and we will come back for pudding next time. We sat at the back as dogs are not allowed in. She didn’t mind!

Have been a customer here for many years, recent visits have been very disappointing. Staff unfriendly & the quality of the food is not good. Value for money poor. Such a shame as both Romillys & Romillys Too have always been lovely places to visit. I have given them the benefit of doubt on my recent 3 visits, but sadly feel I will no longer visit.

Lovely location. I had a chicken sandwich and coffee. For what you get I was surprised how affordable it was. Karen was a lovely waitress. Even though they didn’t have tobasco sauce or chilli sauce she helped me with an alternative sauce that was just as good.

Visited with my family and was met with rudeness, not just from the staff but from customers! Food was overpriced and definitely not worth it.

Lovely atmosphere, but can't taste any coffee in my latte. It's just a cup of hot milk. Ask for scone to be warmed but unfortunately I'm sure they microwaved it into a floppy pancake.

Cute cafe with lake views. This cafe has all the feel of a welsh village cafe. Serving good coffee (best in Barry) plenty of breakfast and lunch options. Friendly staff. Bathrooms clean. Combine this with a walk around the lake. Plenty of beautiful white swans there and if you walk to the far end of the beach you will see the sea along pebble beach. Those who like a long walk or hike walk along the beach and up onto the point a high lookout over the bay. For those of you with children this cafe is near Romilly park. Just ask a local. Plenty of parking. Love your local guide- M♥️

Limited menu, unless you'd like a choice of sandwich on a staggering two different types of bread, for slightly too high a price. Oh and you can have two different types of egg on toast.

Excellent afternoon tea. Staff were very friendly, helpful and lovely with the baby. Definitely recommend. Location great for a walk around the lake and onto the beach.

Good polite staff and quick service. No heating on the in the establish so can be quite cold in bad weather & winer months. Can be quite noisy when full, but I would recommend this establishment to anyone.

Romilly's is a great cafe in a lovely spot in Barry - right by the Knap. I have been at all times of day and have always had excellent food and drinks and the staff are consistently helpful and friendly. I love that it is an independent cafe and goes the extra mile - beautiful crockery, enormous slices of cake being just 2 examples. If I have friends or family visiting from elsewhere in the country I always take them on their visit.

Lovely little cafe situated next to The Knap Lake and Gardens. Great place to stop for refreshments after wandering around Cold Knap Beach and the lake.

Been many times before and the coffee is always great but, this time, we had a very generous slice of lemon cake. It was awesome. We were told by the excellent Karen and Tracey that the new chef had baked the cake so let's hope he makes it regularly!

Our favourite place for an afternoon tea, Romilly’s just gets better and better. It’s well worth the drive from Birmingham to receive such a warm welcome and the friendly attention of the staff, especially Caron, who go to great lengths to make sure everything is perfect. It certainly is. A lovely selection of fresh sandwiches and cakes accompanied by generous helpings of tea. We visited on a wet day and sat very comfortably and dry under the gazebo. We shall visit again soon.

One of our regular stops when out for a ride on our motorbikes. Excellent food and drink, helpful friendly and efficient staff. And a walk around the park opposite to relax fab.

This is a fabulous little restaurant/café/tea shop in a fabulous location at The Lake in Barry. Food was delicious, service excellent and dog friendly seats outside! Perfect.

Lovely cafe at Cold Knap, Barry. Ordered a pot of tea for 2. Cosy £3.20. Sat outside as very warm day. Served the old fashioned way. China tea pot , 2 cups and saucers to match, all bone china. Also had extra hot water to top up. Had 3 good strong cups of tea each. The staff are so helpful and friendly. 2 nd time here and will definitely visit again soon and have a meal next time as food looked delicious

Went to Romilys yesterday (26.08.23) for a surprise afternoon tea for a family member. Lovely quaint cafe, absolutely beautifully decorated and the afternoon tea was lovely.

I had a bacon and sausage sandwich and was very disappointed with the quality of the food. The bacon was hard and chewy, as were the sausages. It tasted like it was possibly reheated. Maybe I should have said something at the time maybe, but I didn’t want to cause a fuss. I don’t like wasting food, so still ate it, but I probably won’t be going back to eat there again. For the price you pay, you don’t expect a sandwich that bad.

Lovely all day breakfast, would recommend.

Lovely place for a chilled Sunday morning breakfast. Good selection of hot food and cakes. Can recommend the English breakfast, pretty good value too. Nice location close to the Knap, knap gardens and Romilly park.

This was the second time calling in and just as the first time, food was great and lovely friendly staff, couldn't do enough for you. It's our new place, when we call to Barry.

Visited today and ordered two bacon rolls. The bacon was just about cooked and pink in colour. The amount of thick fat on the bacon was ridiculous. Certainly not worth the £5.50 each. I complained about the amount of fat on the bacon and was told that the butcher would be advised. I will not return.

Romillys coffee shop is a lovely place to sit and have a nice coffee or tea and nice Welsh Cake and watch the world go bye. Ice cream is very nice too.

Great food in a pleasant setting

This well established stalwart of The Knap parade offers a friendly and welcoming service and is a nice spot for a cuppa and cake. Or pannini, sandwiches, various other plates, tea, perhaps a beer... etc., but for me it's the coffee and cake. Quaint interior decor with a rustic feel, and a good amount of outdoor seating/tables to the front, side, and rear. Dog friendly outside. Parking is, generally*, readily available in the (free) public car park adjacent to the café if no spaces are empty immediately outside in the street bays. *Can occasionally get rather full and busy during peak holiday season and fine weather weekends. Park up, have a cuppa, go for a wander around the park and gardens... :)

Absolutely unreal cafe with friendly, attentive staff! I’ve been coming to this cafe with my wife and 5 year old son for a few years now and each time gets better, with the staff always making us all feel welcome. Beautiful drinks and food at very reasonable prices, also.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Romilly’s! We had the most delicious custard slices as recommended by the fun waitress and the service was excellent. Will definitely return and recommend to friends.

I visit The Romilly on a regular basis and have always found the staff very helpful and polite. It does get very busy some days and so I am quite happy to wait a while for my order to arrive. Food is good, staff are excellent, an all round good experience.

How awfully rude the one waitross on the till was when taking our order. we only ordered 3 coffees and a tea cake and after the coffee arrived, 15 minutes later, still no food and after enquiring was told a back log and you will have to wait. a further 20 minutes later then the food arrived but served with no apologies for the wait just placed on the table. will never return.

We had a lovely takeaway afternoon tea last week. Ordered 24 hours in advanced with sandwitches of our choice. The food was in a box and well presented. A lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes we're enjoyed at home. A real treat for us.

Well what can I say...I very rarely eat breakfast out as you'd be surprised how many places get it wrong but as it's my birthday weekend I thought I'd let someone else do the work. Wow, wow, wow!! Absolutely stunning breakfast from Romilly's Coffee Shop down by The Knap in Barry!! All of this for just £5.85, amazing!! They've got a wide selection of Coffee's, Cakes and Paninis etc on their takeaway menu and have a full social distancing policy in place.Fantastic!!

A lovely cafe, friendly and efficient staff and great cakes. Easy to access with free parking behind the cafe. A great spot for warming up after a walk on the beach.

Been many times for breakfast & for a light lunch, full breakfast is excellent & the various choices on the blackboard are always very good, portions are always on the large size, coffee also good, it does get very busy on times so may have to wait for food, but you are always advised, service by staff very good & always very friendly.
