Decent prices, London ordinary beer on! £2.80, half the price we pay in youngs pubs in london! Nice chips too, we didn’t eat anything else but it looked nice🙂

Me and my family are now regular visitors to this great little pub. The staff are helpful and friendly and there's lots going on from quiz and comedy nights to live music...a must visit if in the area.

My wife and I stopped here to watch the Wales v Australia autumn international rugby game. Staff were welcoming and the pub has a warm friendly atmosphere. We had a few drinks and also decided to get some food which was priced excellently and have to say very very tasty. We had a terrible time trying to find a pub showing the rugby but the Windsor came up trump's and was absolutely brilliant. Warm, friendly, great beer and drink selection, great staff and overall a fantastic pub. Highly recommended and I personally would like to thank the staff and the pub for just a great experience.

We love coming here.. as a couple, family and a friends meet up. The food is delicious and the gin is even better. The entertainment is always the best fun.

The Windsor has become a pub of choice in the current Covid Climate,Their precautions and distancing are excelent and make customers feel safe and relaxed.Though part of the Brains brewery pubs, where often the menus are the same across the board, the food and drink in the Windsor is always that bit more. Be it presentation or taste, the Windsor feels special.Sunday lunch, (to get back to the review) is always good value, plentiful and tasty. The presentation is much better than others where the food feels like it arrives at the table like school dinners, and the quantity is nothing to complain about.I don't think I've ever had a bad meal at The Windsor.The staff are friendly and always welcome you, although the current restrictions can be trying for them I would recommend the Windsor, for good food and drink if you're in Penarth

We were made to feel very safe with the COVID rules in place. Excellent variety of drinks and food and the staff were brilliant throughout!

We found the app really easy to use, the beer selection was good and the food was nice, the offers for two mains for £14 has a good choice. Staff very friendly and attentive while we were there, we felt very safe and all new rules were explained well!

Good quality food at a reasonable price. Enjoyed the lamb steak and big burger. Staff very good considering it was opening week and it was busy. Would recommend.

Decided to go for surprise meal for my wife with friends. Had not booked but our hostess Alex found a lovely table for us. Service by Alex was exceptional - could not do enough for us. Ate off the specials menu, fine choice of meals and incredible value for the two course dinner. Food presentation and speed of service first class. Fine choice of beers and for the girls gin!Would highly and will be doing so.A genuinely very relaxing experience - could not believe it was 11.30 when we left!

We spent an evening here Christmas Eve with our daughter (12) and parents. Each of us loved the atmosphere, so great for all ages. Recently hosted a work Christmas meal. The staff there were fantastic and were so accommodating. Service was prompt, food was great and a really lovely atmosphere with live music. Everyone had a fantastic evening. Thank you to all the team!

Went over the Windsor for our annual Christmas meal and were not disappointed Paige and Alex made us most welcome nothing is to much trouble for these two .The food was exceptional and also the service considering it was very busy. We had a lovely meal with lovely people all having a lovely evening what more could you ask for very good value for money

Walked in without a booking and Alex happily squeezed us in even though they had a big party in at the time. We went for the sharing Sunday Roast and thoroughly enjoyed it all. Not a drop left on the plates. Followed this up with sticky toffee pudding and chocolate fudge cake. Really good. Set us up well for our walk back to the car for our journey home.

Food was really lovely and the waiter callum was very pleasant and polite. The manager mike recommended the sharing roast and it did not disappoint. Will definitely come again.

Visited Sunday lunchtime as a change of scenery. There was a nice vibe, I think the pub has recently changed the menu which gave more options. We had a bottle of wine and just a sharing platter. After a little wait the server arrived with a sharing roast, the kitchen had obviously got mixed up. The gentleman took back the platter, other people around us had there food served who come in after us. The platter eventually arrived and was not what was expected, it didn't look very appetising. There were items missing, the sauce was on the stingy side. We asked the gentleman for the missing things and he quickly returned to say they had run out and had put on extra wings (it would of been nice to have been told to begin with) he was very nice & apologetic and offered to bring some chips as an apology.The pub is lovely but for us the food which was pretty difficult to get wrong unfortunately was on this occasion.

The Windsor has always been lovely but hasn’t necessarily been to the go to place for a mid week meal. Thankfully that has now changed with the new menu. It’s much more agreeable cost-wise.

So it’s a cold wet Friday and the planned activity for date night is now not possible... so a quick hunt around the internet for something local and The Windsor comes up as an option ... a quick phone call to check on availability ... come early, it’s quiet ...and we are happily ensconced in a lovely dining area, with a good menu to chose from and a wide variety of possible drinks from wine and cocktails through to craft beer and cider.

Have been to the Windsor many times over the last few years and have never been disappointed. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is always really good.

Love this place. Ideal for us as we can walk and save on taxis. Great that we are able to take our children to the pub at night which makes it our number one choice for a night out. Also great that they allow dogs. They’ve had some good bands there too. Lovely staff, great atmosphere and nice clientele.

We quite often have Sunday lunch in The Windsor - it's fantastic food, always really tasty, hence why we go so much! As well as the great food, the staff are always friendly and welcoming, no matter how busy they are. The staff always look after the customers, no matter what questions they have. On our last visit, we were served by Alex and Andy, who are consistently fantastic. The place has a great atmosphere, and is always welcoming to everyone, including families with young children.

Lovely ambient atmosphere, very warm welcome, and a superb meal. Posh scampi was absolutely delicious, only sorry I didn’t have room for dessert !

Really nice meal. Staff (Callum, Alex and Kieran) were really helpful and went out of their way on a busy Sunday to help keep the children occupied! We will be returning soon.

Wasn’t worth the hour wait for just a main course! Roast potatoes were like rocks! Rest of the food was ok but there are a lot better places in Penarth! Only three staff on, the lad was ok but other two really couldn’t care. Thought Sunday lunch was easiest to prepare so why it took so long who knows.

This a must for locals and visitors to Penarth alike. A fantastic warm welcome from Andy and Callum and agreat selection of food and drink. I would definitely recommend the Windsor.

I have visited here over a number of years as I live nearby. We popped in for lunch one day last week and were very pleasantly surprised — it has always been a decent place with reasonable food, but the quality of the food and the general ambience of the pub has greatly improved. We had a lovely lunch, I had a steak sandwich, at a very reasonable £7.50 for tasty beef, cooked to perfection in fresh granary bread, served with great caramelised onions. My friend had fish and chips which she said was also delicious. They have increased the range of gins that they offer, so we will definitely not leave it so long again before going back.

Spent a lovely evening in the Windsor. Good food, nicely cooked by Martin, beautifully presented, tasty and not a long wait for it.

A brilliant revived pub in the heart of Penarth with friendly staff, wonderful food and an amazing choice of beers.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to ‘The Windsor’! This was the first time we’d visited this place and can confirm that we were not disappointed. There was a wide variety of meals available on the menu to suit everyone’s pallet. Our food was cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were good and the meals were reasonably priced. This visit made it worth our trip to Penarth!

Wife and I frequented this place today and were blown away by the friendly atmosphere, stunning food and entertainment. Definitely will visit again, (dog friendly was the icing on the cake also!)

It was a Friday, the crowd of screaming guffawing women made it impossible to talk to each other. So we had to move to the restaurant area. The food was awful. It was described in delightful terms but at £11.95 was a tiny portion. On complaining some chips were provided but the food was cold by this time. The crowd of screaming women followed us so we had to pick up our food and carry it back to the bar. The whole experience was not pleasant. The staff tried but honestly there are so many better restaurants in Penarth.

Popped into the windsor with dog in tow and were made to feel very welcome. My dog was offered water and biscuits and couldn't have been made to feel more at home. The decor is lovely and a great relaxed atmosphere. Went on a Sunday and although the roasts had run out there was a great choice of food. Food is excellent and fresh and well presented. Alex was very helpful and friendly and made for a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Will certainly come back. Great food, staff and dog friendly.. can't ask for more.

Visiting the area and with this pub being dog friendly, my daughter and I decided to eat our dinner here. As my daughter described in her review, my £20 steak was served very cold that even the butter on top of the steak didn’t melt. I returned the steak back to the kitchen and couple minutes later got it back dry as it had been reheated. We requested a fresh steak to be made. The whole experience was spoilt by the rude waitress who made us feel very uncomfortable and she never once apologised. Her whole attitude was very unpleasant. Surely customers should be put first and made to feel comfortable. In this incident not. What was meant to be a lovely meal between a daughter treating her mother to a dinner, turned out to us eating our meals 20 minutes apart. Very disappointed and would never return again.

Me and my partner came in to the Windsor for the first time on a Wednesday evening, quite a few tables eating food so we though why not?!

Me and my partner went for food last night very impressed staff very helpful when the food arrived after a short wait was really nice garlic mushrooms were fab and my main course of fish and chips was lush very reasonably priced and the bottle of wine was fab the staff really knowledgeable in helping us pick the right wine

Took my mom out for dinner which started off well. Ordered drinks at the bar and then sat down to have a think about our mains. I ordered the chicken pie and my mother ordered the rib-eye steak. When the dishes came out we noticed that the butter on top of the steak wasn't melting at all (see pic) and once cut into felt stone cold. I called the waitress back to ask if it was possible to have a warm steak, the lady was very rude and not at all apologetic! Steak returned within a couple minutes which was now tough and overcooked so I asked if it was normal for a steak to be reheated instead of replaced and they said yes. Unsatisfied with their response I requested a new steak which came 20minutes later! The waitress had terrible customer service, chucking the plate down without a word, no eye contact and never once returned to check if everything was ok! Shocking service! The pub was quiet so really no excuse! Finally, I requested the bill as still nobody had come to clear plates or see if our meal was alright, the waitress was very obviously avoiding our table! I was issued with the full bill and when I went up to discuss if they could offer any compensation since my mom and I had to eat separately the lady replied 'I replaced your steak, that's enough compensation'! She was so rude. Made us feel so uncomfortable, I've never received service like it! We will never return here again!!

I Have never felt able to leave 10/10 at any restaurant before, the closest i have ever given anyone is 6 1/2, I have always avoided this place as an eating establishment as i always had in the back of my mind of it being a local pub from many years ago. Today i thought i would give it a go - the prices were very reasonable, so again i was expecting mediocre food, because after all, you get what you pay for. How very wrong i have been to avoid this place. I had the Pork roast dinner with an extra side of Cauliflower cheese, my husband had the Beef and my Grandson had the pizza. What i liked was the fact that all vegetables had that little 'something' added, allowing you to still enjoy the original item, but with a subtle hint of something else without over powering it. The yorkshire pudding was so light it was amazing. The vegetables were suede, carrots, brocolli, red cabbage, roast potatoes - with Perfectly cooked pork and stuffing. My grandsons pizza, garlic bread and carrots, again, were lovely, plus 3 drinks, all for around £38 - worth every penny. Alex was fabulous. I look forward to many a repeat visit here. Im totally amazed - 10/10 all the way, very much deserved top marks

We’ve eaten here several times as we live in Penarth. No problems with the food or the drinks, they were fine. Unfortunately, when our bill came we had been charged for drinks we hadn’t ordered. They got the wrong total twice- it should have been sorted the first time we queried the bill. There wasn’t an apology, very odd.

I have eaten here on several occasions since it's upgrade including Christmas day lunch. I've always been pleased until Sunday lunch yesterday. The food was almost tasteless apart from salt and not a much of it, certainly not enough for a man I wouldn't have thought. The vegetables were basic: peas, carrots and broccoli, a few very small roast potatoes and very thin gravy. I'm hoping that I caught it on a bad day or it was the fact that I had only booked a table the day before.

Popped in on the off chance of a table for 2 on a Saturday evening. Despite lots of reservations, Jade quickly accommodated us with a peaceful table and efficient service. She was helpful with choices and didn't make us feel rushed, taking the time to chat briefly before taking care of our order and getting back to other customers. Food was well portioned and fresh as always. We've never had a bad meal here and any small errors are always quickly rectified. Welcoming if you are a family, group or couple, but if you want a quieter meal on the weekend, I'd pop in on the early side as it is quite popular in the evening. Always reliable.

After nearly an hour from the time of placing our food order no food had arrived. When we went to enquire by the bar they realised the order hadn’t gone through. Said it would take them 5-10 minutes to sort out. When has a chicken only taken that amount of time to cook? Terrible service.

Came in here with my girlfriend for a nice relaxing dinner and that's exactly what we got. The staff are friendly and attentive. Great beer and wine choices, excellent food (really recommend the steak and add peppercorn sauce- delicious) the chips were possibly the best I've had in a long time. We also had a salmon fillet which was perfectly cooked and soooo tasty! We'll definitely come back for more!

The food and staff at The Windsor are great. It’s a reliable place to take friends and family. Lots of great dishes to choose from and great deals available on week days. A big thanks you to Andy who looked after us and serves us with a smile.

Just got back from the Windsor in penarth after a beautiful meal my partner had the venison scotch egg for starters and it was very tasty we both had the venison with celariach mash and red cabbage for mains and for dessert I had the warm chocolate brownie with peanut butter caramel ice cream omg it was a gorgeous meal .thank you all for a lovely night out . This is lovely restaurant with an appealing interior,good atmostphere and friendly waiting on staff. Unfortunately our Saturday evening was somewhat spoilt by very slow service from the kitchen and average food when it eventually arrived. The pigeon breast starter was sparce and the meat very tough. The chicken supreme main course unremarkable and was little more than a chicken breast dinner minus roast potatoes.

The Windsor has a very nice relaxed atmosphere and I spent an enjoyable evening recently with 2 friends. Our waitress Jade was most welcoming, polite and efficient. Our meals were nicely presented and quite delicious. I had the crispy duck salad followed by the salmon. I see there have been a few negative comments about the food and service recently but I believe Mike and the team work hard and if there is a problem it is rectified quickly. Living locally my friends and I will visit again soon.

Such a disappointing evening - service was unbelievably slow - waited ages for our food. One dish took 30 minutes longer to come than the rest.

I love sausages, mash and broccoli. I am 13 months old. I ordered sausages, mash and broccoli. It was incredible - so family friendly. While Mum and Dad enjoyed a beer or two I absolutely cleaned my plate. They seemed really happy too and said the beer was really well kept. I just about saved room for my chocolate brownie and dad said the whole meal only cost him £6. Don’t tell Mike the manager but I’m taking the free crayons home with me.

Lovely chilled pub down the hill from Penarth town centre - never crazily busy, nice atmosphere. We had a great evening meal there this week - Starters included scallop/prawn/calamari on sourdough bread and moroccan lambcakes, followed by smoked mackerel fishcakes - absolutely delicious! Had a very nice evening with friends at the Windsor last week. Six of us arrived at 7pm on Friday night and all six left satisfied after a pleasant evening.

In need of a Sunday roast, we found ourselves at The Windsor, Penarth. After a mixed bag of reviews from our own previous experience, we had received fantastic recommendations of their Sunday roast so decided to give it a go.

A local gastropub near to where we live, so we thought we would give it a go. That was our first mistake. We both ordered the Welsh Rarebit to start. It came out and I was quite shocked because it looked like there was hardly any cheese on it. However, I decided not to say anything to my wife because I didn't want to be accused of spoiling the night before it had even started. I ate most of mine and then my wife commented that there was no cheese on hers and we both laughed because it was so ridiculous that they could bring it out and call it Welsh Rarebit. I called the waiter over and showed her and she took it back to the kitchen. When she came back she said that's how they make it. They use a spread !!! I laughed and said it shouldn't be called Welsh Rarebit then, it should be described as a spread. She didn't find our amused response funny at all and became frosty and defensive. We declined another starter and decided to press on with the mains. We both ordered the Welsh burger mine with Welsh Blue cheese and pastrami. Yes, you've guessed it, a cheese problem again. Blue cheese by its nature is a strong tasting cheese so if it's on your burger you know. Well I couldn't taste a thing. Burger was fine though. The chunky chips were delicious but I think there was about 9 of them. A pathetic portion by any standards. We pressed on and said nothing, because they clearly didn't care what came out of their kitchen. The starters were removed from our bill without us asking and that was good. The highlight of the meal actually. With the enormous competition for customers in the Penarth area i find it astonishing that this establishment can send out rubbish like they gave to us. It's owned by SA Brain and they need to have a close look at the expensive rubbish they are turning out. Very very disappointed.
