Absolute disgrace £15.10 for 2 coffees and toast with butter and marmalade. When order arrived 1 round of toast was £2.95 a disgrace to charge nearly £3.00 for 1 slice of toast,definitely will not be coming here again,the nerve to charge this amount for next to nothing.

Delicious flapjack and brownie with plenty of Gluten Free and Vegan options. Lovely deli with lots of cheese. It was very busy so service was impacted but we both enjoyed our coffee and cake

Arrived just before 11 to order breakfast. Got to the till at 11.05 to be told breakfast finished at 11. Annoying because two girls were standing there seemingly too shy to take the order in time. Unbelievably disappointing as I had made the effort to come. Senior lady was adamant - no breakfast even tho the man in front of us got his bacon roll. Very poor service indeed.

The young lady behind the counter was very abrupt and rude, and had no customer service skills whatsoever. The coffee was bitter and luke warm. The hot chocolate was poorly mixed and barely warm. No, we didn't complain and ask for more drinks - if they cannot get it right the first time, there is probably little chance if it is being done correctly a second time. As soon as the staff realise you only want drinks, they lose interest, and they didn't have much to start off with. Do yourselves a favour, find somewhere else to go, unless of course, you like rude staff and cold drinks, in which case you will enjoy the Flying Pickle.

Great cafe, really friendly and nicely busy. Coffee is excellent and cakes are fantastic- but come hungry as the portions are huge!! Lots of gluten free options and really friendly staff.

Superb! Second trip to the pickle, this time for breakfast. Full English, a cheese and chive scone and a couple of lovely coffees for less tha £20. First class quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. Very friendly staff and quick service.

Unimposing from the outside but lovely on the inside. We arrived around mid-day and the owner Kelly was really friendly from the start. We ordered coffee and I had Tiffin. Customers were friendly and we liked the place so much we bought a sandwich to have later in the day. This takeaway was well packaged and did not use any plastic. What a place. If you are passing on bikes doing JOGLE like us or on s shorter trip this is well worth a visit. I highly recommend for daytime eats and beverages from our experience on 4th May 2023

Met family here whilst on holiday. Walked in at 11:15 am and got a table for 5 without having to wait. Breakfast finishes at 11am but lunch starts at 11:30. Nice selection of food and drinks catering for all food choices. Also had lots of local produce such as cheese. We had bacon & brie on sourdough, haloumi wrap, soup of the day, scone and a selection of drinks. I also had a small slice of the garlic & chive and yarg cheese. The food was delicious with a fresh salad, the soup came with huge wedges of bread. Chai latte was lovely too. We will happily visit again thank you

Very warm welcome, plenty of space and lots of choice from the menu boards. Croque Monsieur and a toasted bacon and brie sandwich with some excellent coffee for just under £24. Will visit again, even if it needs a detour!

Lovely place and atmosphere, friendly staff, however vegan meal I ordered was not actually vegan as contained mayonnaise, luckily double checked with staff who confirmed non vegan and provided vegan alternative, but this should not happen when a dish is advertised as vegan. Keep your wits about you if you have dietary exclusions.

From the moment we walked we were welcomed we were looking at the menu board for breakfast but the lady brought us a menu over. My husband had the English breakfast which was a very good price and he said was very nice. I had the poached eggs with avocado and smoked bacon which was lovely. The coffee was very good we will return.

Gorgeous food served in a relaxed authentic environment by lovely people. Prices very reasonable for the quality of food served. Highly recommended.

Visited for lunch with parents. What struck me most was the friendly service and the care and attention paid to what was being served. Always a good sign of a place that takes pride in its business . Good varied menu and a very tasty lunch stop.

Honestly such a brilliant lunch. Delicious food, friendly and efficient service… We love independent cafés like this. Well worth a visit and worth every penny - our bill was £40 for three meals and two rounds of coffee. Super hot tasty coffee at that! A must visit if you ever find yourself in quiet and quirky Tiverton.

Went into the Flying Pickle to have lunch which before Covid I have done many times. Today the lunch menu didn't have many items still available (12.15), no quiche, few salad options (just 2), no croque monsieur, no hulami, only chesse, ham, pate and soup....

Friendly staff and freshly made meals. We had a delicious lunch of sandwiches, quiche and salad, plus hot drinks and cake. Our three year old enjoyed his mini-versions and our dog was welcome too. Breastfeeding friendly as well. Highly recommended.

They don’t scrimp with the tea... You know, feet sore from hard trudge up and down the High Street, dodging the coughers and hands worn from too much alco-handwash and all you want is a nice bacon sarnie and a lovely hot cup of tea....

Torrential rain all day, we expected it to be hard to find somewhere with room for us for lunch but we were greeted and taken upstairs to a big, light room with plenty of space to be comfortably seated. Soup was £5.50 and sweet potato...

Enjoyed a first visit today for breakfast at The Flying Pickle in Tiverton. I chose Eggs Alligator from the menu and it was delicious! Very reasonably priced too. Definitely recommend.

The Flying Pickle have it sussed. Great food, whether its breakfast,lunch or a deli purchase, quality fresh ground coffee, a range of teas and delicious cakes. The whole place oozes charm and character too, with a fantastic Victorian shop front and two floors of wooden furniture and characterful decor. Whether I'm alone or bringing guests I'm always sure of a great experience here. So many special memories! We've sent many an Airbnb guest to the Pickle, and they are always delighted. Don't think twice, head for the Pickle!

visited here whilst in the area, both vegetarian and the vegetarian breakfast was amazing. Eggs cooked to how you like, fresh home made bread and excellent service and coffee. Great prices too and lovely location and clean cafe. Staff really helpful and friendly.

During an unforecasted bliblical deluge, The Flying Pickle saved this bedraggled & unprepared cyclist with a warm welcome, hot drinks, gluten free food, and a radiator to dry off some clothes. They were also kind enough to let me stay for 2.5 hours until the storm passed (thanks Met Office for the perfect short-term forecast - sunshine arrived at 3pm on the dot).

What a charming well run characterful deli and cafe ... really made us feel welcome. Great food choices for breakfast although it looked like all day it would be nice. Spacious and also has a little food shop with unique things. Very friendly owners and Covid secure .... places like this make it nice to visit Devon towns

I took my daughter here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon ( 1:40ish) it was busy but we still managed to get a table,we both ordered different sandwiches and arrived at our table in super quick time.My daughter ordered the California club with a raspberry crush and I had a pastrami and Swiss with elderflower,just a couple of points but no means negative ones... my daughter had to swap her drink because after our sandwiches were delivered we were told that they didn’t have any raspberry crush and my sarnie can without the Swiss,but when in Tiverton we will always pick this for lunch for sure

Really wanted this to be great as we live just a few minutes away. Ordered a flat white and everyday tea. They arrived vv quickly which I didn’t think was a good thing and indeed it wasn’t. The coffee was watery and bitter - not smooth and I couldn’t really drink it. It tasted like the dregs of a coffee machine. The tea - how can you go wrong with tea - it was grey/brown. Look, we all know what coffee is supposed to taste like now - there needs to be some serious coffee training given. We had a very good fruit scone and an ok Croque Monsieur. We’d like to return - we’re nice people really and like to go local. You’ll need to persuade me that everyone has had proper barista training though...

Visited 3 times now with different friends for lunch , each occasion even though the place is busy , didn’t wait long for food and thoroughly enjoyed each meal . The spicy red pepper soup with sour dough bread was gorgeous. Recently moved here and this is gonna be a regular place to visit . Dogs allowed on the ground floor but there’s also plenty of seating upstairs , with a couple of outside tables .

Lovely independent cafe / deli. Coffee was very good as was the almond croissants. Dogs welcome on the ground floor, with a biscuit! Staff very friendly. Would have been nice to have had time to have some lunch, but we had a bus to catch. The deli has some nice quirky items. Well worth the visit.

We stumbled across the flying pickle on a Saturday afternoon,it was close to the kitchen closing but they accommodated our 3 sandwich orders and we are so pleased they did,they were delicious and full to the brim with fillings,the side salad was amazing and the best coleslaw I’ve ever eaten,a great selection for all diets and we will certainly return to try more on the menu,also the staff were very friendly and helpful

Popped in for lunch. Cheese ploughman and a BLT....lovely and fresh. Very tasty bacon an succulent wild rice. Highly recommend.

We dropped in on a Saturday lunchtime for a couple of sarnies and I initially thought the prices looked a bit steep, but they were very generous with the fillings (one Californian Club, one smoked salmon with cream cheese and rocket) and the delicious side salads were obviously chopped and put together to order - no brown lettuce here! We'd definitely go back if in Tiverton again.

Had a ploughman's lunch at a table upstairs while in Tiverton this week. It was busy and full downstairs but upstairs was fabulous - a big room with lots of light and several tables of different sizes. The service was quick and the food fresh and delicious.

A quick stop late in the day didn’t stop the staff providing us with a friendly service and hot food even though we arrived after the last hot food order and 30 mins before they closed. Definitely recommend.

Long wait for my second coffee waitress made three lunches before she did my 22nd coffee suggest as coffee is quick to do this should take priority😋

Generally a lovely informal place for some excellent lunches. The pies are real proper pies with pastry all round! . Pleasant and friendly staff too.

Wow! The times I have walked past this place and not gone in....I met my friend and her kids here. It's small but has a lovely deli counter and loads of cheeses, pickles and chutneys on sale as well as specialty teas and coffee. We had hot chocolate and it was reasonably priced with no rush to drink it!! Kids have a little basket of books and colouring too. I will be back!!

Party of 15 + of us went in yesterday for lunch, having pre-booked a table. Excellent service with minimal waiting time (we ordered individually), no mix-ups on the food orders. Lovely food and nice people. What more could you ask? Highly recommended.

A regular here. Love their poached eggs, Eggs Florentine and Eggs Royale; their side salads are not just a limp garnish either. Their cookies, brownies and pecan pie are also fab if you are after something sweet. The service is frequently slow but worth the wait; the decor is relaxing. The delicatessen part offers a great choice for people wanting takeaway.

I like to support local small business but to serve such poor food at premium prices is unacceptable.

called in last week with my daughter for a light lunch and was impressed by the variety of dishes on offer. all home made and all varied and different. the salads that accompanied the choice were home made and adventurous. well done it is so nice to find a real food shop.. the only down side is that there is not a lot of tables down stairs, but there are plenty up stairs.

A well established and run eatery with lovely coffee and homemade cakes. Pleasant tables including a couple outside. Clean and sweet. Recommended for freshly cooked breakfast too

Nice place with good food and staff generally very friendly. Coffee is often very poor though. Not sure why they don't focus on producing a good coffee as this could really make visiting this cafe a more enjoyable experience.

If you’ve had fun Friday but are struggling Saturday morning - get to the Flying Pickle. The coffee is freshly ground. The poached eggs are clouds of yumm. The staff are always sympathetic and kind. You can take your best four legged and two legged friends. Beans, books and best friends - the best brekkie in Tivvy by a country mile.

We have been using this usually lovey cafe for quite a few years and more often than not we have enjoyed it. Today I was left with a rather bad taste in my mouth when required to pay over £15 for some bread and cheese!!

Went in for lunch had the cheese platter to share, lovely fresh, good granary bread, able to choose 3 cheeses from chilled display, chutneys, piclked gherkins, pickled onions, apple it was very good. With excellent tea and coffee,this shows how to do even simple things very well, well done.

When my friend suggested we meet here I was sort of doubtful. Such a name in Tiverton. Was it ironic or trying to be clever? So I did not know what to expect and so the discovery of this great place with super staff and excellent food was - well a complete joy. We ate very well with a splendid soup followed by a quiche and salad. Just first rate - perhaps I should review my ideas about Tiverton. It was so good in fact and so unfussy that I hadn’t noticed we had been there for almost four hours without the “would you like to see the pudding menu” etc etc. Yes a rave. I wonder if they might like to move to Bristol?

We were looking for somewhere to have lunch in Tiverton today and we’re delighted with our meal at The Flying Pickle. My husband ate the Croque Monsieur while I had the smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich on sourdough bread (they give you a choice!). Both were completely delicious and served with a really lovely side salad including pomegranate seeds, radish, coleslaw and spring onions as well as the usual salad ingredients. If we lived locally, this would be a regular place to visit. Top marks Pickle!!

My partner and I popped in here on a rainy Saturday lunch time. Staff were friendly and helpful. We both had the Croque Monsieur hot sandwich.. which was delicious and better than we've had a Cafe Rouge and a couple of other places. Lovely thick slices of ham and great flavour.. shame the sourdough bread had sold out, but the granary did a great job standing in!

We had a fantastic breakfast at 8 am. They have a great breakfast menu at a reasonable price. Lunch menu also looked good. Friendly owners in a lovely Deli/ Cafe setting. Definitely recommend a visit for breakfast or lunch if you are in Tiverton. We parked at Tesco’s and walked across the bridge and we were there. 2 minute walk.

Great filling breakfast, be it the egg Benedict or the English breakfast. Very reasonably priced with friendly staff

Lunchtime meals in a great place with great staff in very pleasant surroundings. Plenty of choice and not expensive. Food presentation and flavours excellent at clearly a very popular venue. Tables can be reserved.

This cafe is a lovely little place, charming decor, very good service and good quality provender.

I have recently started working in Tiverton and visited the Flying Pickle while exploring during my lunch break. I received a warm welcome and the staff were happy for me to sit downstairs at a table for four even though I was flying solo. My butternut squash and chilli soup arrived within minutes and was warming, delicious and I would definitely be happy to order it again. I chose to have two lovely thick slices of granary bread with my soup but there is also an option to have pate and toast as an accompaniment. I only had 30 minutes and with such fast and friendly service this was not a problem and allowed for a relaxing and enjoyable lunch. The latte is superb too.

Just stopped by for a few drinks, had a lovely organic cider that was made locally, and some apple juice again locally made. Will definitely go back for food next time, the salads looked really good, unfortunately not dog friendly but had a nice couple of tables out front

We had a great lunch here - we had small kids with us and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food was EXCELLENT - we arrived just before the lunch time rush and we were glad we did as the place was very busy a few minutes later. The range of food on offer was excellent and the salads were first rate. Only slight problem was that baby changing in the one toilet was a challenge for our neice.
