This was a very enjoyable find. Went there for the first time last week with my daughter and husband. The coffee was excellent and well priced. The food was very good and tasty. Service quick and it was busy. Obviously popular with locals, always a good sign. Going back again soon.

Such a lovely place for coffee and cake, lovely inside area too and can purchase various items. Best place around for the area, have gone many times on a Saturday.

The Flower Cafe is tucked away in Albert Street just off the High Street and is well worth a visit. As well as being a cafe you can also order flowers for delivery and buy some gifts that they have around the cafe. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and it is a very nice atmosphere. Well worth visiting for a drink and a chat.

We planned to meet some friends in the area so they could meet our baby for the first time. As we had never visited the area or the cafe we weren't sure what it was like inside so I walked in with the pram. I made no attempt to sit down as I was assessing whether there was space inside for the pram but the older man in the cafe was straight over to tell me that he would "obviously need access to all of the tables and walkways" or words to that effect. I'm not unintelligent and know the basics of fire safety. I wouldn't block an exit, nor would I want my baby put in a position where he was at risk of having hot drinks carried around him. I had already suggested to the party that we sit outside (not that the man who approached us would have heard) but it seemed he'd made a beeline for us as soon as we walked in. We'd not even said hi to the friends we were meeting yet. We put the negative feelings aside in order to have a nice drink with our friends but still walked away feeling as though the situation could've been approached in a better way by the man in the shop. I will clarify that the issue isn't with the fact that we were approached, it was the fact he came over so quickly, didn't attempt to say hello and greet his paying customers, rather made a comment in a very negative and sarcastic tone. The cafe could've made new customers as our friends have just moved to the area however they both left saying they wouldn't return due to the tone of voice used to speak to us. An ok cafe and nice idea however if you are looking for somewhere to sit inside that accommodates for those with accessibility requirements (prams/wheelchairs), I wouldn't recommend.

What a wonderful place, I stopped with my elderly Mother for lunch. She was particularly appreciative of the lovely china cups and matching tea pots. Food was lovely and the choice of cakes....Mmmmm. Some lovely gifts available to buy, and beautiful drawings and paintings done by owners daughter Jade, all for sale. A lovely friendly family run business.

Happened to be in Old Town Stevenage today and wanted a coffee and a bite to eat. Rather than going to usual Costa the hubby suggested the Flower Cafe. Popped in and was into a winner with them having soya milk - and they actually made a really good cappuccino (it seems to be something some places struggle with if not using normal milk). The menu was simple but as a pescatarian I still managed to find something I could eat. We even followed it up with a lovely piece of carrot cake (may be a little on the sweet side but it was being shared between 2). Lovely quirky setting. More than just a flower shop and cafe. The flower arrangements looked wonderful and some great gift ideas scattered around the shop. Need to be back in Old Town in the near future and I think Costa may have lost a customer to the Flower Cafe.

I popped in here this morning for a coffee and toast. Great flat white coffee (and I am fussy about coffee) and lovely granary toast, with plenty of butter made available. Whilst in there, I read some of the previous reviews and had a chuckle about the odd negative one. This is a great place, good location just off the High Street, friendly staff, pleasant surrounding and lovely food and drink.

I have recently started visiting here when catching up with friends and I absolutely love it. It’s always got a great range of cakes and coffee to choose from. Seating inside and outside. Just has this lovely peaceful atmosphere (when I visit) and the flower smell just makes it better!

Like other reviewers I found the staff unwelcoming & disinterested. The accompaniment to our sandwich was stingy, 4 crisps & 4 slices of cucumber. Don't know why they bothered. The smell from the toilets wafted into the cafe which was very unpleasant. Such a shame as it all made for a miserable atmosphere.

Visited the Flower Cafe with my Mum for lunch & a cake. Had delicious leek & potato soup. Staff so friendly, noticed I was heavily pregnant and recommended the comfy chairs. They do decaf tea here which is so useful. The Victoria sponge I had was totally delightful - moist, light, cream was perfect! Will definitely visit again. Really nice to sit amongst flowers too, such a good idea.

We visited on a weekday morning for coffee and cake. This place just seems to be a cynical attempt to turn some floor-space into a money-spinner. The tables had signs requiring that they only be occupied by parties of four or more. There was not much space at all and the table we occupied had a remarkable wobble which caused drinks to spill. There was no engagement from the owner/server and the florist just glared around the room constantly. The cakes were mediocre and the coffee was nothing special. All in all I would say a better drink would be obtained at the greasy spoon around the corner. Walk on by and spend your coffee money elsewhere. A very poor show.

I visited here on a Friday afternoon. It was quite busy but service at the counter was quick and we didn't wait long for our order. There was a huge range of different cakes. We chose the lemon buttercream and the sticky toffee and both were excellent. I'll definitely be returning!

This is a small cafe tucked away at the end of a side street and partly disguised as a flower shop. The food is very good- it's snack food - sandwiches & paninis with excellent coffee and outstanding cake. When I visited the cake was fresh and not ( as is often the case) tired and dried around the edges in some cafes... but not here. Because it's small and good it was busy and service was a bit slow but that didn't stop the food being prepared very quickly which made up for the slow order time

Because it's tucked away, people often miss this little gem of a coffee shop. The cakes are always amazing, and they have lovely coffee. There are only about 6 tables (but seating outside in good weather), so it's usually busy. Good value and a nice atmosphere.

A gem in the Stevenage old town. It's nice to have a local family business with some real character. The customer service is second to none, I've never had a bad cup of coffee from this place. Unfortunately, places like this have become a rarity. It seems that crap generic coffeehouse franchises are springing up everywhere lately.

Such a lovely coffee shop, with good coffee and delicious cakes, decor is very pretty, but, oh how miserable is the owner?! I too saw him tell customers there would be a ten minute wait (he was only loading the dishwasher and wiping down worktop, which surely he could have done after he'd served the customers?!). They both left - how can he turn customers away? Unbelievable! Won't be going back I'm afraid.

Why can the owner of this cafe hardly manage a smile? If he was more friendly and welcoming, this coffee shop would be near perfect. Every time I've visited, he has not managed to make me feel like he enjoys his job or is pleased to have customers. He turns people away, telling them that it will be a 5 or a 10-minute wait, with no sincerity about the inconvenience. I saw these people walk away, no doubt going elsewhere.

Only my second visit to the area, I found by chance this remarkable little business. So much thought has clearly been put in by the owners in to the decor, displays and layout. It's a real gem. It has a simple hot and cold snack menu and has a lovely display of amazing cakes and buscuits. They serve a large variety of teas and the coffee i had was spot on! The fruit cake was the best I have ever had - and that's saying something! Congratulations on a beautiful establishment - nearly 15 years in business cant be wrong!
