Old Red Lion in Stevenage

Just had the most enjoyable evening at the old red lion. The food was delicious, served quickly, hot and tasty and such great value for money. The staff were friendly and very accommodating and made sure that our experience was perfect. Massive thankyou to Bruce, Robyn and the whole team.

Robyn is the cutest! So kind such good service, well defo be recommending to others!

We had a bad experience at another pub this lunchtime the food was uneatable. So we came to the old red lion, the food was lovely and staff very friendly so they more than made up for our experience, would highly recommend, thankyou

Was not impressed with the food at all. Burger was cold had it change and next one was still cold but this time had no bacon or red onion in it. I couldn't eat half of my food the chips was cold and peas was cold aswell. Staff were nice

Had a nice meal here this evening with my family. Took advantage of the grill deal and the £6 weekday deal. Food was lovely. Nice friendly atmosphere and the service was exceptional. Was very well looked after by Amiee. Highly recomened this place

Food was not to standard today, cold chips, one meal was requested to have no BBQ sauce or mayo but came out cover so was sent back, a half hearted attempt to replace it thrown together no sauce but also no salad the same chips as had sauce still on them. A new staff member who had no idea what she was doing. Disappointing tonight

Unexpected visit in the week. Busy but found a table. Good service, but was told an hour wait for food. Offered refund if we wanted, so fair enough. Food was OK, same as othe Hungry Horse. Clean, but could be better. Car park, but not the biggest.

Good little place to eat speacily not too loud for hidden difficulties. Reasonable price and saves parents money there only 1 or 2 merchines for kids lol

Pub wasn't busy. I was told to order at the bar. Only 1 man trying to serve two bars and take food orders on a hot day whilst the "girls" laughed and joked instead of wiping sticky tables. Food service seemed to be left to one poor younger lad, who was wiping tables, taking orders, bring out food and bringing in glasses from the tables outside. Food wasn't as expected. Hubby seabass was 3 flakes rather than fillets. We paid full price not the reduced menu. It was like a child portion. I shared half mine with hubby which wasn't that large. Won't be going back

Me and my partner went here for lunch on a Friday. The service was great. We had a very helpful waitress. The food came out hot and quick The place itself needs a bit of a freshen up, but overall, I would go again

Good honest, down to earth pub. We went for a meal in the middle of the day. The service was spot on friendly and efficient, not over the top. And the food spot on. We would definitely go back next time we're in the area.

My friends and I have been regulars at the Old Red for years, and we have always enjoyed our time there. However, our experience was taken to a whole new level recently when we were served by the incredible Tracy. Tracy was an absolute gem of a waitress - always with a smile on her face, friendly, and willing to go above and beyond to ensure that we had a fantastic dining experience. She was attentive to our needs and made us feel like valued customers. It is clear that Tracy takes pride in her work and genuinely cares about the satisfaction of her guests. The Old Red is lucky to have her on their team and we are grateful for the exceptional service she provided us during our visit. Keep up the amazing work, Tracy you truly are an amazing shining star in the world of hospitality.

Another great meal. Bank holiday weekend. Food was superb and didn’t have to wait long. Bar service fast and served by Amy and Elise. Both professional and friendly. Would have taken food pics but dived in too quick. Had a great time. Happy with service and food. Would recommend

Been coming to this pub since 2003 as i relocated to this area. This pub has always been friendly and the staff are amazing Amy is by far the friendliest and most helpful member of the pub team always here for everyone. Great pub met lots of new friends my children love eating here too 10 out of 10

Very welcoming environment, great atmosphere for all, food is exceptional for value and quality, one person that I have personally felt went the extra mile for customers is Amy the young lady behind the bar, great with all customers, very attentive and makes you feel very comfortable and welcome.

Very nice experience. Large car park, and plenty of varied seating for all occasions. Didn't have an ordered drink in stock, but staff came over to sort extremely quickly and did so extremely well. Food was very nice, my 2 onion rings came out separately, but all was fine. Lots of choice on the menu, and some excellent great-value deals on every day. Slight wait at the bar, but many people had turned up after us, so food service was required, and bar service was resolved immediately food was served. Would go again.

Nice quiet pub. Unfortunately the table wasn't set for food, cutlery wasn't brought out either so had to go ask for it. However, the staff's attitude and food were at a good standard.

Been in Stevenage for 12 years and this is my first visit. A 20 minute stroll brought us to this more traditional looking pub. Decent size car park but be aware of some horrendous pot holes. Settled for a comfy bench table near the fireplace. The App was very easy to order from and you can remove ingredients that you don't like. I ordered a cocktail picture which took about 20 minutes to come so with this in mind I ordered another and it arrived in 2 minutes! Food was ordered A home run and bacon and cheese burger. The food was arrived hot apart from my fairground onions were cold. Still it was nice. Pudding was a very nice warmed chocolate fudge cake. All in all a nice meal.

Just got back from a great meal at the old red lion. Food was delish, service was excellent. Our teens loved playing darts. Will definitely be back. 10/10

Excellent food at a great price. Went on a Friday and got BOGOF on burgers... The Quadzilla burger was absolutely fantastic. Kids' meals were of a great size and price. Family of 4 with 2 courses and drinks (large cokes) £50 you can not go wrong. Will definitely use again.

There was plenty of parking. We were there for a Saturday evening when the AA membership discount is 15% off the already Saturday special deals. I had the big mixed grill and the big ice-cream pudding. They were both great. The service was good. Cat was excellent. The atmosphere was good too. I would hope to go back soon.

Service was 10/10 cannot complain, was served really quickly and was treated absolutely amazing. Food was nice and did taste quite nice however I had ordered the lasagne and it looked like someone had microwaved it and then thrown at the wall and then served to me.

Sadly I won't be visiting again. It was a Sunday- roast day - they were reasonably busy but they had run out of onions, mushrooms, strawberries and other items. Yes they had a failed delivery but what about popping to the shop? The staff are very nice however I cannot give a higher rating with the food situation. Also the choice of starters was limited and further so by no mushrooms.

Went for lunch here, there was 3 of us, we had 3 meals and a pint each. When we got the bill and they took off all the discounts it came to just over £35!!! I had the mixed grill with extra eggs, it was fantastic. Definitely recommend

Mixed grill was quite poor . Cheap frozen tasteless chicken breast , sausage was terrible' again cheap with loads of herbs to try and disguise the fact it had virtually no meat content . No salad or mushrooms which I believe us a given on a mixed grill . Anaemic looking with no colour. Altogether a little disappointing.

Amy begind the bar always friendly. A good local place to eat. Good offers on throughout the week. Large portions options of hungry.

Been here many times but so disappointed on this visit. Ordered roast beef dinner, the beef was one thick lump that I struggled to cut with a steak knife and obviously couldn't eat it. Remarked to staff who just said sorry and cleared the plates

Always service with a smile and politeness.👍 My favourite Aimee works tirelessly on busy days and evenings. The place is extremely popular with families serving very affordable meals for all. No complaints at all or I wouldn't be here now.

Went for dinner and a drink, the food was great for the price you pay. I was served by a lady called Aimee who was very polite and professional and a bloke called Chris who was funny and also professional. I will definitely return mainly thanks to them. Great value.

We felt like we had walked into a crèche. Toddlers on the floor playing with toys.So many it was hard to walk through them. We couldn't work out who were staff and who were customers. No one approached or welcomed us. Our food was partially cold some bland some over cooked 🙄. At least they managed to get the 2 childrens meals were okay. Didn't stay for pudding. Didn't complain as no staff around. We paid our bill on line and left, never to return

Booked a table on line arrived 20 mins early table was ready ordered outer drinks and food at thw bar sat down and chatted 15 mins later our food arrived I was like omg I didn't expect it to come that quick and everything was hot

Food was very good. Glasses weren’t cleaned properly, ran out of ice and most of the food options we had chosen (was only 4 of us) . In toilets the tiles were all cracked and falling off the walls, loads of cobwebs. Tables were very sticky aswell! Desert wasn’t very nice! Ordered the chocolate fudge cake was very dry and was supposed to be warm but was mostly cold. The apple and berry crumble wasn’t cooked thoroughly and was still frozen in certain bits! Very very disappointed as been before this and food, service and hygiene was good now not so much :(

The waiter Chris gave outstanding service and goes above and beyond the food was amazing and serviced quick and nothing was too much they go out of there way and we will definitely go back again and very child friendly

Went today a monday it was very quiet, only 2 people eating. Husband had a burger I ordered pie. Food came out minus gravy. The lovely young lady said it was just beening made.!!! Ate half the pie and still no gravy so went to find where it was. 15 mins later ( husband had finished hes food. ) Mine turned up. Told the manager to take it back. I expected to eat with my husband. By this time another couple had their food as well. Went to pay bill and there was a cook getting a coffee. The young waitress was fantastic and I really felt for her. This place really needs to get their act together. Poor management yet again will now Never return.!!!
