The Florist in Watford

The Florist looks nice, wonderful decor, good location but the cleanliness is left to be desired, food crumbs everywhere on the couch, sticky table, smudge/ dirty glasses, toilet smelled like it hasn't been cleaned in days. Service was decent, the food mediocre, cooked well but tastes more like a fast food place than a restaurant. A bit disappointing, I was expecting more, except for a short photo shoot of the decor there is little value/ reason to stay around.

I can only give The Florist in Watford 1* as unfortunately (well, fortunately as it turns out… but more of that later!) I am unable to not score. I made a booking as follows: “Booking reference: DMN-16901295095 Booking type: Table for food Selected offer: £8.50 Lunch Menu A lighter version of our famous kebabs - this time not hanging! All served with pitta, salad & houmous with crispy chickpeas. Special Requests: Hi Can I please reserve a table for 3 outside at the front so we can sip cocktails and watch the world go by! My sister and I will be bringing our step-mother and it is her 76th birthday! Thank you.” Despite my special request and despite the fact that my reservation was confirmed both by email and text message, when we got to The Florist, we could see that the table I had specially requested had not been reserved for us. We checked in and were offered a table outside but sadly not where I had requested. We were offered a table on the side near to the smoking area but as my sister had been before and had to suffer the smoke we chose not to sit there. I was really disappointed for my step mum and we asked to see the manager. He could not care less and he had the most arrogant, superior attitude. (I quite expect any reply to my review to reflect this!) He was so rude and we decided not to stay. I can’t understand why they have a booking system if it is actually first come, first served! However, every cloud has a silver lining and ours certainly did! We went downstairs and into Las Iguanas where we had 2 for 1 cocktails served by the amazingly friendly and knowledgeable Mixologist, Seth. We had a delicious lunch and the atmosphere in there was so friendly, the place was spotless and we had a brilliant time. They even brought my step mum a birthday dessert with a candle to make her day a bit special! So all’s well that ends well! Now I’m off to give Las Iguanas a glowing review!

Absolutely amazing! I went to The Florist for a hen, and it was honestly wonderful. The venue and décor? Out of this world. Everything looked stunning, and the vibe was just perfect. The food was incredible—so tasty, beautifully presented, and honestly, I couldn’t have asked for better. A special shoutout to our waitress, Bailey. She was lovely—so attentive, professional, and warm. I have an allergy, and she made sure the kitchen was fully aware and everything was handled safely. There was even an issue with a nearby table, and she took the initiative to speak to her manager, who then offered us a free drink. She was just fantastic—always smiling, helpful, and made the experience even better. Highly recommend The Florist—from the service to the setting, everything was just spot on.

We came here from Beach House after being told there was a 30-minute wait—we appreciated their honesty and decided to try this place instead. It was only half full, but we waited over 45 minutes for our food with no reminders, updates or apologies. Other tables had similar delays. The food was average, and the decor had a kitschy pink-and-flowers vibe. Not really recommended

Sat outside in the lovely sun, this was a quick stop before heading home. My friend and I ordered soft drinks, table water, and a side of chips. Very pretty decor and lots of photo opportunities. I would visit and recommend.

Have been visiting here with my partner regularly for breakfast/brunch for a couple of years and would have had no reservationsin giving it 5 stars on every count. However we were very disappointed to find this week, that the menu is now limited and inflexible. Ridiculous to have to wait with bated breath, while our waitress went off to check with the kitchen, to see if I could have a sausage in my egg an bacon sandwich!!? Apparently the management have decided that any changes to the menu are too inconvenient, so now customers can not add any items (egg, bacon, sausages etc) to their breakfast, as well as omitting my particular favourite the breakfast bap. Their business must truly be "flourishing" for them to be able to put their convenience ahead of customer service. My sympathy goes to the hard working and friendly waiting staff, who have to explain this nonsense to custoners!! I recommend Battlers Green Farm, on the other side if Bushey, where they are still happy to serve you whatever combination of menu items, you want for your breakfast.

The starters and cocktails were really good. The mains were ok and we didn't order dessert. Food was slow to come out but don't mind that for good food. Staff are really friendly and nice, just sometimes it took a while before seen too. Someone in my opinion should be checking around every 5 minutes or be situated where they can see everyone/most people so they can see if people need assistance. We would definitely recommend and are going back. Starters - Calamari - pil pil (can't remember the name) Prawns Mains - Prawns with coconut rice - Peri Peri chicken with chips Cocktails - Mai Tai - Has a unique flavour but taste really nice. Best Mai Tai I have had was in Italy and this came close in terms of flavour. - Strawberry Daqcuri

Such a beautiful spot to eat, grab a drink, and have a good chat. It’s got a rustic charm but still feels super elegant and well taken care of. The food was great overall—though the pork chops were a bit overcooked and chewy. Service could’ve been smoother; we had to wave a few times to get someone’s attention. Seemed like they might’ve been short-staffed and doing their best. Other than that, it was a fantastic experience. Definitely going back!

Meal very good and staff accommodating lovely and efficient service

Service extremely slow, and food when it arrived was not up to expectations, would seriously think hard about returning, staff were pleasant but food service was slow. It was a busy night but either have enough staff on or reduce bookings?

We love the Florist so I decided to propose to my girlfriend in the restaurant last Saturday. The manager was very accommodating and so was the DJ who played our favourite song as I asked the question. Truly special, great team great food - thank you

1st visit - The food was faultless, a wonderful low-cost lunchtime special menu. Service was direct and slow at times. One star lost due to the shabby and dirty furniture. One further star lost due to the additional service charge; stop this shoddy practice! Feedback - Dirty shabby furniture does NOT equal "CHIC"! 2nd visit - again, food was again "on point". Service was "minimal" at best! Following the owner comments below from the first visit, we asked for the service to be removed. This created a "to and fro discussion" with me being told - who gets the money (staff), it is quoted on the menu (yes, it is) etc etc - I then explained the word "discretion" and the fact I could use my discretion. A very uncomfortable convo.

This place is so creative, whoever came up with it is a genius. The staff are also really good and friendly. If you come here at night, there's a local paid car park, which feels a bit sketchy to walk through, but the venue totally makes up for it. I came here as they had to rented out the venue for a party and it was definitely a good choice. The people who did the party might have brought their own catering, but I'm not sure.

Great place for every occasion. Beautiful setting, food was yummy and cocktails were delicious. We had a table in a private space for 9 for my Daughters 16th. We will be back as there's a garden roof top which will be gorg for Summer.

Nice decor and nice smell when you walk in but it’s all style over substance. We went on Saturday (today) and it was a shambles. Tables and tables full of dirty crockery, ordered on the app as directed, the staff as lovely as they were had no idea and were clearly understaffed. Took ages to get our food and it was mediocre at best when it arrived. Screaming kids running around, no managment or any sign of a leader keeping things moving. I’m sure to Watford it’s amazing to them but if it opened in Chiswick it would have to up its game massively. Shouldn’t take 50 mins to get two salads. Staff were very sweet but had zero direction and just muddled through.

Lovely atmosphere and decor. Plenty of room and spacious layout. Friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. Delicious cocktails and tasty food.

The only small criticism i have was that the music was a little too loud, which did make the table conversation a little difficult. Now, the positive stuff! Fantastic food, I recommend the salt & pepper belly pork hanging kebab. To be honest, though, all the food we ordered was fantastic. The servers did a great job and were very personable, we had a great time, thank you.

The environment is very refined and welcoming, with attention to the smallest details and 360° customer care. Good food, excellent experience for romantic dinners or with friends.

Pretty venue that has a lovely and romantic feel. We came for drinks and dessert, which were nice enough, albeit a bit too sweet. Helpful and friendly staff who advised us with drink choices. They happily left us to enjoy our evening even though it was getting quite busy.

A surprisingly great meal! We just walked in with no research/recommendation and loved it. The decor was fun, every dish was delicious and the portion sizes were generous. It's tucked away a bit but it's worth the search.

The place is beautiful decorated and the staff very friendly and helpful, it was a nice vibe my experiences with the food wasn't a good one I had spice chicken Korean for starters and steak as main which was very salted.

Really disappointed. I had booked a table for Mothers Day. I got an email back straight away staying the booking was confirmed and to leave my card details for a £100 deposit. I checked the email again today and where it had confirmed my reservation at the top of the email, they had changed the time at the bottom. I emailed and they said it’s a glitch in the system. But they had nothing now around the time that I needed that would suit my party, only late afternoon which isn’t suitable. Not impressed.

Beautiful place, great atmosphere, very kind waitress from Poland, very good english breakfast in bun and smashed avocado on a toast. Deliciuos!

We visited the florist for my daughters 21st birthday. I had never been before so didn't know what to expect. All I can say is what an absolutely wonderful place. Firstly it's disabled friendly. The welcome you get when you arrive is so warm, infact all the staff are warm and cannot do enough for you. The food is delicious. 11 of us went and every single one of us thoroughly enjoyed the meals we had. I cannot praise or recommend the florist enough. Can't wait to go back.

Re-review: I no longer recommend it; I am highly disappointed. We booked a table for a special occasion during Christmas. The service was horrible; we waited 40 minutes to get our starter, though the order was missing, and we waited for the mains. For another 45 minutes, the staff said the chef was busy, but there was no response after some time, and the food never arrived. We spent around 2 hours and left the restaurant without having our meal. We talked to the manager, and she didn't feel sorry for us and asked us to wait some more time. The whole occasion was ruined, and we returned with frustration. We have been to the same restaurant in the past and enjoyed it. But now the service is appalling.

The restaurant is quite dirty, while eating our meal we saw a mouse running around the main floor and along the benches by the window. Politely informed the manager, she wasn't too concerned, offered no apology or gestures of goodwill. Would not recommend or eat here again. Disappointing experience as reviews and recommendations has stated good things.

Food was bland, stale and uninspiring. Seems like it was purchased from Tesco and put straight on the plate. Had the Katsu curry that was overly salty. Asked for water before the meal, and only received it after we had finished our food. They also brought all the food at one go, so some of it got cold by the time we could start to eat it. The only decent thing was the dessert.

I recently dined at the Florist and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the food was perfectly cooked (giant piri piri chicken !!!) and full of flavor, and the service was top-notch. What really stood out, however, was the incredible management. The manager, Riccardo was attentive, professional, and genuinely cared about every guest’s experience. They checked in on our table, ensured our meals were perfect, and handled everything with a friendly, welcoming attitude. It’s clear that he keeps the restaurant running smoothly and at a high standard. Fantastic food and the exceptional service!

love the food and the place but the food took over an hour to come for 3 people

I had the dirty chicken burger and it was absolutely beautiful, but I found the man Who brought our food was rude there was no friendly smile, we asked if he could kindly take a picture for us he walked away never returned, we had 10 mins left on our table and he told us quite rude I need my table back, he just brought a bad atmosphere

Beautiful venue, good drinks, lovely staff and great service but the food was expensive and utterly disappointing. From the Starters the harissa cauliflower and halloumi fries were okay. The garlic fougasse was great! The hanging kebabs looked great but were overcooked(we had lamb and the halloumi), the vegan burger was inedible as it was overcooked & tough, pitta bread with the mezze was cold and hard & seemed like a cheap supermarket buy….I drove an hour to get here for a family lunch but I would never come back for a meal.

26.12.2024 Dusty cabinets,dirty chairs,male toilet not working flooding on floor🤢, very small portions for the price,questionable quality(tummy ache soon after meal). You can tell it was once a beautiful place just needs to improve on service delivery and hygiene.

Had a beautiful afternoon, chilling here before a big night out. Food was as tasty as it gets. We ordered a selection of starters between us as a main so we could try as many as possible. All served with a huge smile. Staff are excellent and the decor is stunning.

Such a beautiful place and great vibes. Been living here 6 months and moving back up north next week so this was our first and last ( atm ) time here and I regret not going earlier. This is a very trendy place in the outskirts of Watford shopping centre. It is a very popular place with locals. Tables get booked in advance, and it looks like after a certain time, it becomes a big bat with people standing up and drinking. It has a balcony and food is good quality. Music is fun, but it can get a bit loud, and if you stand by the bar, it is difficult to talk. Overall it is a fun place with beautiful decor and good food.

Lovely decor and good brunch options

Drinks and desserts are very nice, staff are hard working and helpful however main course was not nice at all. Had turkey was very dry came with veg no gravy but just olive oil was dry as well. Please note if you order turkey it comes with pork sausage as well in case you don't eat pork like myself.

The decor was fine, but the length of time that we were kept waiting was a disgrace. The food was not good at all, certainly not worth the wait. To be kept waiting for over an hour for the bill was the final straw. We will not be going back

Turkey was chunky and dry, veg lacked any flavour and service was non existing, yet felt bullied to pay it. Aesthetically pleasing decor wise. Such as shame as i was looking forward to it based on reviews seen on TikTok.

The bar man was a legend he was fortunato was great highly recommend the bar and service we will be back soon.

Had a group Christmas late lunch here. Very slow service (40 mins for food to arrive despite the restaurant being pretty empty). Veggie korma arrived pretty cold and rubbery, like it had been sitting on the counter for a while. Was a shame as the flavour seemed good, so had it been delivered when ready it probably would have been enjoyable. 9 members of our group ordered roasts and received only 2 sharing plates of vegetables - we had to raise this a couple of times for the waitress to finally agree a third sharing plate was needed. Not sure how the restaurant calculate sharing plates but the formula needs revision.

I went yesterday for Xmas dinner. Food was below average and disappointing. Their festive pie had no taste, vegetables undercooked and sauce was too salty. They don’t care enough to cater properly for any dietary needs even though they were informed well in advance. Very disappointed experience. Would not recommend this place for any meals. It’s pretty and all, just go click pics and eat somewhere better.

The food was absolutely dreadful. Even something as simple as fries was a disaster—over-fried to the point of being unpleasantly hard and crispy. The overall taste was non-existent. The vegan burger was shockingly basic, consisting of a bland patty, unappealing cheese, and a cheap, uninspired bun. It was a complete disappointment and a waste of money. I couldn’t even finish the meal, as it made me feel sick. Truly one of the worst dining experiences I've had.

Came for a group dining and was looked after by Luis who was a very attentive host and attended our groups needs, food came out in great time and was excellent! Brilliant evening that was exemplified by the superb service from Luis and his team! Will definitely be returning!

5 stars for atmosphere and decor especially for a special occasion…zero stars for food. Agree with a previous reviewer..tasted like cheap pub food. Salty oily awful fishy coating on katsu curry chicken. Even a fish and chip shop takeaway would have been better. Halloumi fries were tasteless and the coating was extremely greasy and salty, chicken burger was awful. When you walk into the Florist you would think you’re in London. Get a proper chef and proper cooks, use quality superior ingredients for the prices you charge, change the oil reused for frying like a top restaurant would, and this place would be amazing! Our chef offered to get us something else when we complained about the awful katsu chicken but we had lost all confidence that the next thing would be any better so we didn’t order anything. I regret not asking to take the Katsu curry off the bill, even though my starving child had eaten the rice around it. Never again. Until the kitchen changes hands. Thank goodness for Ocean Bells down the road which picked us up with their gorgeous cakes and coffee!

Although the food choices are very good. There were a number of items on the menu which were not available. As we were booked for two o'clock I wouldn't have expected them to have run out clearly this may be something they need to address as there is clearly an issue with supply and demand. The service also could have been better as we had to request acompliments for the meal mustard etc on more than one occasion. Service charge was automatically applied to the bill so if you had a serious moan or complaint you couldn't withhold a gratuity because it has already been taken therefore service needs to be perfect as the charge is 12% of the total cost

Beautiful restaurant; big cherry blossom tree in the middle of the restaurant, perfect for a date night or night out with friends. Also been to the Bristol and Liverpool location, this one is probably my favourite, good size restaurant and bar area, staff are lovely and food was gorgeous

The place is nice, you feel like central London. The starter was good (calamari but the sos was sweet chili...). I got a Florist Burger and it looked like a £2 burger (not joking see the bread in the picture), the taste was OK and I was hungry but for an over £16 burger....very very disappointed (I had street burgers with less than £8 tasting better and looking a lot better. I still offer 3 starts because the music was nice, ambiance was nice, service was OK, my fiancée main was OK.

We had an amazing bottomless brunch at The Florist, Watford to celebrate a 21st birthday. From start to finish the team couldn’t have been more helpful; from Carolina being so accommodating well before our due arrival time with accepting and looking after the birthday cake, to Charlie for making the most amazing cocktails and to Mihai and Lewis for looking after us so well and ensuring we were well fed and watered even though is was a busy day! Not forgetting the team’s dulcet singing tones singing when presenting the cake. We had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend The Florist with their fab team and great atmosphere.

Did not book just walked in (Friday 18/10), was shown to a table where nobody else was seated found it very strange & asked the waiter why, he said that they were expecting guests later. My partner ordered the 8oz steak with pepper sauce(extra), the steak arrived without sauce & cherry tomatoes (which was on the menu). I ordered a vegan burger (a bit on the small side) the processed 'meat' burger did not taste good at all I would suggest an all veggie burger. The waiter serving our table was very friendly. Was impressed by the decor & ambience

Whilst the venue is beautiful and the drinks menu is great, the food menu is really poor for coeliacs. As a vegetarian coeliac I am used to having limited menu options, but only being able to offer a bowl of rice and a (very small) side portion of steamed green vegetables is pathetic. Even if I ate meat, my choices would have been limited. I had a similar experience when I visited this venue when it first opened, but gave it the benefit of the doubt because it was just getting established. Suffice to say I won’t be giving the benefit of the doubt again. I left feeling hungrier than when I arrived. The menu needs a proper overhaul to make it more inclusive.

Have been a few times before and have always had a pleasant time. This was no different, however the menu was much more limited. I was gutted to see that the lavender and honey loaf, as well as the pork belly with duck egg we're no longer available. Please bring them back (especially the lavender and honey loaf- it was divine and in keeping with the aesthetics) 🙏

We were here for a company event. It was GREAT.

Visited on a Saturday evening. It was very busy. The food was good, and the ambience was vibing. They had a dj, and music was a bit too loud. Had to shout to be heard. But otherwise a good evening.

The moment we walked in the lady at the front was so helpful and very kinds, we went for my daughters birthday after a horrible experience at the top golf the florist staff made us forget everything, the girl who served us too she was so well mannered and really good in serving us, thank you so much for making our evening so lovely we will def come back again and the food was lovely too

Utterly garbage pseudo Wetherspoons with the familiar sticky tables. Food is standard spoons fare, nothing too offensive, but almost zero gluten free/allergen accommodation.The insistence on hard house beats LOUDLY pumped directly at our table meant that our birthday bash was unable to have any conversation without yelling to the person next to you. Even the staff couldn't hear our orders. We asked for a reduction but were told "Highly doubt it, loud music on a weekend". There are so many other options than this, go elsewhere to one that doesn't see its patrons as cattle.

Very cluttered, not relaxing and overpriced. Fish and chip disappointing. I wouldn't return to this establishment unless it was refreshed to a much relaxing environment 😌. Apart from the manager, the waiting staff were excellent and very attentive.
