I visited this evening with my partner for his birthday. I exchanged a few emails with a lovely lady called Nefeli who was so helpful. Our food was delicious - we were served by two ladies. One in particular (I believe she was Spanish) was chatty and attentive (but not too much). We have a wonderful evening and we will certainly be coming back.

Part of the Ginger Group. Small plates, but mains are actually generous! All the dishes were good but the sea bream carpaccio and the cod main were standout. Roast cauliflower was plentiful. Worth a detour! Carafes of wine available.

We stumbled upon the Flint House and we did not have reservations. They set us up at the counter which provides a full view of the kitchen. We decided on the tasting menu with wine pairing as it's a small plate menu. The menu was outstanding. Each dish presented a new set of wonderful flavours. My favorite was the lamb over smashed minty peas. We tried to take pictures of each course before starting but got ahead of ourselves on a few of them. We travel a lot and always seek interesting places for dinner. This was one the top places we have found.

Have had the pleasure of eating here several times a year since they first opened. The food never fails to delight. Always fresh and very tasty. But the thing that amazes me most of all is the staff. I don't know how they recruit or train their staff but whatever it is that they do they have absolutely nailed it. Without exception I have always found their staff welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Special shout out today to Javier - enjoy your trip home to Cadiz.

We've just been to The Flint House for my birthday lunch, and what a wonderful lunch it was. I'm wheat intolerant and often wary about eating out, especially in nicer restaurants. The waiter made adjustments to the chefs menu so we could still choose that and I didn't feel like I was missing out. My husband's favourite plate was the BBQ mackerel and mine was the slow cooked lamb shoulder. All of the plates were delicious though. Thank you to the waiters for making my birthday even more special.

Dinner in a modern bar and restaurant situated within the maze of the Brighton Lanes. Upstairs is the bar where you can have a pre-dinner drink. Downstairs is what we have come for Obvs. There's a counter-level bar that gives you a front-row view as plates upon small plates of dishes are prepped, made, and walked from the kitchen to the table. Their menu has quite a varied choice, from snacks and small plates to a five-course Chef’s menu. For 2 to share 50pp / 70pp with wine pairing. We couldn't decide what to have, so we went for the Chefs menu. Just to be awkward,we asked to change one of the dishes to a preferred alternative. After the server had a little discussion with the chef, he nodded. We didn't have the wine pairing as we both have different tastes. Instead of having a glass or a bottle, you can have a 375ml carafe. One white, one red, please. This also saves on having to catch the eye of your server to order another glass. This is a great way of dining out as you get to try different dishes off the menu that you probably wouldn't have ordered or would have missed. Speaking of which, the very first dish was a very pretty looking Sweet Potato Crisp, Courgette, Sage, Pomegranate followed by Bream Ceviche, Orange, Coriander, Jalapeño. Then comes a couple of tasty snacks,Sweetcorn Fritters & Ham and Gruyere croquettes. Next up is the dish we swapped to Roasted Cod,Thai Green Curry Sauce,Vermicelli Noodle, Thai Basil. That comes with a Radicchio, Anchovy, and Parmesan Salad accompaniment. The main dish was Slow Roast Lamb Shoulder, crushed peas, feta, mint,Satay Squash, picked chilli, Peanuts, Coriander with the most outrageous Confit Potato, Black Pepper Aioli. Dessert of Chocolate Parfait, Vanilla Poached Pear, Praline Crème Diplomat. Dark Chocolate and Brown Butter Fudge, Cocoa Nib. Service was very friendly, and the food was spot on. All dishes were served at pace from an open kitchen. Time flew by as we were mesmerised watching all the busy chefs prepare the dishes.

Soooo good. I’m honestly quite hard to please but the Flint House was really great. Went for an early dinner with a friend and all the staff were lovely and welcoming, they happily switched out the gin for tequila in my negroni with no fuss. Great guidance on food selection and quantities required. Good wine list, and good knowledge about it on the part of the staff too. If you like oysters you have to try the gochujang ones they have on, so so tasty. Although to be fair every dish was really good. Creme brûlée doughnut was spectacular. My only tiny gripe is that they had a miscommunication about the dessert wine we ordered to go with it so we needed up not having that but they were so lovely about it that it didn’t matter. Plus that doughnut was so good I’ll almost certainly pop back in just for a lunchtime treat of that and the Riesling at some point so will get to try the pairing anyway!

We had an absolutely stunning meal here for valentine's day. We did the chefs menu. Each course was spaced out and there was a lot of food but it was such a relaxed and elongated service that we didn't feel like we'd eaten too much at once despite it being a big meal. We were at our table for two hours, it was such a lovely experience to not feel rushed. The stand out course was the BBQ mackerel with the radichio, anchovy and parmesan salad, and also the desert was outstanding. Can't wait to come again - a new favourite for us, for sure.

My girlfriend and I visited for the first time for Valentine's Day having heard good things. We went for an early dinner, lovely service and attentive staff as soon as we entered. They answered all of our questions about the menu and offered recommendations. We had a completely vegetarian meal, there were lots of options. We ordered for starters: Corn fritters - These went down a storm, my favourite dish of the night Focaccia - Delicious For mains: Cauliflower with pistachio pesto - Girlfriend says "scrumptious and unusual." Hispe cabbage - The flavours were delicious, if a little lost in the bulk of it, the crispy onion is a great addition Confit potato, black pepper alioli - Both of us loved these, they were just the right size as they're quite salty, they have a delightful crunch Fried greens, padron peppers - Another favourite of the night, really great flavours and the nuts work brilliantly For dessert we had: Blue cheese crumpet - This was thoroughly enjoyed by my girlfriend, she raved about it Chocolate parfait and poached pear - This was a bit too salty, with big flakes of sea salt that were overpowering. The menu should say that it comes covered in hazelnuts as I may have chosen a different option if I'd known. The pear was tasty Though and the parfait itself was nice. Overall we left really happy with our experience. The staff were super friendly and the atmosphere lovely though maybe next time I would ask for a table upstairs rather than by the front door.

Very nice food and friendly service, comprehensive drinks menu and a nice atmosphere. Expensive, but no more so than equivalent spots in brighton. However, the menu (specifically the portion sizing) needs much simplification. Our lovely waiter took at least 90 seconds just to explain the different types of plates and - despite all members of our party ordering from the same part of the menu - we all ended up with vastly different quantities of food. Is it small plates? Is it fine dining? This part just felt a bit confused. Nevertheless, it was very tasty.

My girlfriend and I were visiting Brighton for two days (29-30th) before heading into London for NYE on the 31st. We'd booked an AirBnB and the trip was meant to be a nice final relaxing getaway before starting 2024. We hadn't researched The Flint House, we just stumbled across it. I must admit, upon entering the staff were very accommodating, especially seeming we didn't have a reservation. We chose a nice bottle of wine and then decided to go with the taster menu (10 dishes). The food was fine, I wouldn't say great but it was enjoyable enough. The main came which was the chicken leg - I ate mine before my partner showed me that hers was pink, slimy and raw. We raised this with the waiter whose response was 'It can't be raw we sous vide our chicken so it's cooked to temperature'. She came back a few minutes later and said she took the value of the dish off our bill - the gesture was kindly received - little did I know it was sadly too late for me. Fast forward to 3am the morning of the 30th and I'm projectile vomiting. As this is a public forum, I'll avoid the crude details. In sum, I was sick 11 times over the course of the day, battling dehydration and stomach cramps - not quite the day we had planned as I couldn't leave the flat, and we missed our pre-booked tickets to the aquarium. Having read a few other reviews also highlighting similar food safety issues, I researched what is required to lodge a complaint with Brighton Food Safety. Turns out it's a faecal sample to confirm the bacteria - naturally, I was in no place to see a GP, let alone mine isn't based in Brighton. Overall, it's disappointing as it seems there's little us as patrons can do to receive compensation (my £140 down the drain). I am 100% certain it was the chicken that caused my sickness as due to us travelling to Brighton, all I'd eaten prior was a handful of Pringles - and we didn't eat anything after the meal. I only snapped a photo of the first course, but attached that as proof of our meal on-site on the 29th (around 4.20pm) In the interest of a fair review - if the chicken hadn't been raw, and I hadn't got such awful food poisoning that single handily ruined my NY, I'd have rated the experience about a 6/10. As I mentioned above, the food was fine and the service was pleasant.

Good selection of small plates and we opted for the chefs menu (although we didn't have the wine pairings). Bream ceviche, sweetcorn fritters and ham and gruyere croquettes were delicious. Lemongrass and garlic chicken and confit potatoes were also delicious. Ambience was nice without too much loud music, but it did get crowded so the noise level was raised. Quite pricey but worth it.

We’ve eaten at Flint house so many times. We’ve found for us it has slowly deteriorated and therefore our visits have become less frequent. Having been in town and found our designated place to eat closed we headed for the flint house as it was near and we were hungry. We had the sweetcorn fritters, not sure why, they were my wife’s choice, never particularly liked them before and still not a fan. They are always too greasy for my liking. The snitzel was chewy, I thought the coating could have been jazzed up a bit but it was standard and boring. The cod was cooked immaculately but the Thai broth was tasteless and we didn’t like the texture of the noodles as it felt like fish bone. Our pave potato tasted old, and 1 was way undercooked, I was surprised to see that on the bill as we did mention it to the server. The satay sauce on the squash was great and probably the best thing from all the plates we ate. The food today was sadly underwhelming, tasteless and really not at all the quality one would expect especially as it’s not cheap and has the reputation it has. Thought the chefs could have had a little wipe down too as all their stations were untidy and disorganised

The service is attentive they always greet you at the door even when they are busy serving. The attentive service continues throughout the meal with refilling wine glasses, water and replenishing water bottles when needed etc.. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed but not overly noisy which is nice, if you get the chance to sit upstairs it is lovely and a cosy experience with a lovely view over the lanes. The food is always amazing and a few of the favourites today were the ceviche of bream, tempura mushrooms and the crème brûlée doughnut! That was truly a match made in heaven that I really hope is there next time. We all had a fabulous lunch and will definitely be back.

Had a Starter of shiitake mushrooms and sweetcorn croquettes. Very small portions. Next was the main, which was mackerel and roivioli, was raw, tasteless, and poor. Reported to the waitress who was great and removed from the bill. My parter and I have never complained about a meal previously after also working In the service industry, but today we agreed 10 mins after leaving the restaurant that it was one of worst meals we have ever had paying for food and especially on a birthday occasion. We visited the Flint house for a work dinner, very nice setting, the lighting, music, very cozy. We had the Chef’s Menu, which is a 5 course meal. Some of us had the wine pairing too. Everything was absolutely delicious, there was not a single dish that we didn’t love. I would highly recommend this menu, and specially with the wine pairing. It was such a great experience and we will remember it for a long time. The only thing to mention is that the booking was for a 2h30min slot, which was totally fine for us, however, as we had the 5 course menu this was very tight. We had to be moved 10 mins before our slot was over as another table was coming in and we still had to have desserts. That being said, we were moved to another table downstairs that was not booked, therefore we could stay as long as we wanted. I think a 3 hours slot for a 5 course meal would have been the ideal time. Some people in my party were a little bothered by this interruption, which is why I thought I’d mention this. Other than that, we had an excellent time and will definitely be coming back in the future!

The two affected in our group of three weren't able to provide positive tests from the doctor that confirmed the cause because they didn't feel able to go to the doctor when feeling that unwell. The restaurant owner required this as proof which we couldn't provide. Difficult because many of these tests can come up as false negatives. We were offered a bottle of wine in compensation which didn't meet our expectations instead we were looking for some degree of refund or some reasnoble effort as a courteosy. The food was excellent, very tasty. My only complaint was the sautéed courgettes with pine kernels and garlic confit. The courgettes could have been cut somewhat in a more delicate way and if there was garlic in that dish, I couldn't taste it! Our waiter was great and did a good job, but for the cost of the meal, I was expecting more.

The staff is highly professional and nice. Set in a great place, but decor is unremarkable. Food has its moments, both positive and not so positive... I felt it is quite overpriced.

I'm so happy I dined here. It's Michelin-quality! The trout is sublime, the confit potatoes were delish, and the homemade vanilla ice cream was a real treat. The service was great and I liked the cozy, urban vibe. I will definitely return here the next time I'm in Brighton! Highly recommend.

Expected more from the food quality considering it's steep price and fact it has a bib gourmand; presentation was the best part but flavour was quite average. Good service and atmosphere, the terrace was especially nice.

Fabulous small plates enjoyed watching the world go by in the laines of Brighton. Love sitting at the bar and watching the talented chefs prepare the dishes. Friendly, attentive service. Delicious, inventive food with a good choice to suit all palates and dietary requirements. Decent drinks selection.

Wonderful birthday celebration on the roof terrace. We had a lovely table overlooking the lanes. Service was excellent and the food was amazing. 3 of us enjoyed an absolute feast as we wanted to try so many of the dishes and it was a birthday treat. Standout dishes were the oysters with gochujang, focaccia, croquetas, sweetcorn fritters and leeks with lentils, though everything was lovely and we enjoyed the 2 different bottles of wine but the Gavi in particular. Thank you Sabrina and Giovanna for the great service too.

We found the food here of very good quality, although they call it small plates it’s really just the standard, Starter, Main & Dessert, this just seems to be the new thing at restaurants, perhaps to make you spend a little more on an extra dish, that you probably wouldn’t normally have. Although the staff were all very pleasant the service was shockingly slow, not just for us looking around this was the same for everyone and something that does need to be improved upon.

Very nice overall but what we tried in terms of food wasn’t anything extraordinary. Still good though. Great selection of wines and cocktails. Good service. A bit noisy as they started packing up and cleaning shortly after 9 while we were still eating and we were around 6 tables at the time.

We came here after shopping for some small plates and two carafes of wine. It's a great place with a sense of occasion and was perfect for a Christmas drink and snack. The food was lovely with a good vegetarian and vegan choice but the service was appalling! It was really quiet being 5pm, plenty of staff but they were standing around chatting or cleaning tables over serving customers. We had to twice leave the table to go and find our waiter and having eventually managed to get our bill had to take it up to the counter to pay. The 12.5% service charge was not justified. I'll definitely be back though to give them another chance. We need places like this in Brighton.

We had the most fabulous night at Flint House. We were greeted by Leo - who was very friendly even though we were ten minutes late. Our waiter was Henry, who was so knowledgable around the menu as well as being very friendly and funny. This made our evening even more enjoyable. We can’t thank you enough for our amazing experience from start to finish!! We will be back with more friends so we can cause even more carnage. Love Karen and Janelle x

We really enjoyed our visit to Flint House & will most definitely return. The restaurant is very attractive inside & has a fabulous roof terrace overlooking one of the lovely lanes of Brighton, a gorgeous place to be on a sunny day. Service was absolutely faultless, our waiter so friendly & patient. The menu is made up of sharing plates, an intriguing & varied selection. The homemade bread & Miso seaweed brown butter was indescribably delicious, other dishes tasty, but some ... good rather than great. Perhaps we chose badly & for sure would be up for going back to try the dishes we didn't order on this first visit. A very nice overall experience.
