The Flaming fryer in Suffolk Coastal

Good chips, excellent fish and excellent and friendly service. It was very clean and the portions were a good size. A medium chips did both of us.

We have been using this chippie since moving to Wickham Market four years ago and the food has always been great, with generous portions. Good service, they always make sure your order is correct. Definitely recommended.

Superb fish and chips, cooked in traditional beef dripping . My god you can certainly taste the difference! Certainly top of the list for our chippy dinner from.now on.

Fantastic fish and chips every time. Love that they use beef dripping to fry in rather than awful vegetable oils. The only downside is that cards are not accepted. Definitely recommend.

Fish and chips for lunch. Not great, but not bad. Good helping of chips but could have been cooked a little longer. Batter on the fish nice and thin, not greasy, but fish a bit skinny.

No vegetarian option as they fry in beef dripping 🤢 so we all went elsewhere. Pity. When chippies fry in vegetable oil, everyone can eat there, why wouldn’t they?

Visited there with my young son and I cannot rate this chip shop enough. Beautiful chips, crispy batter nice and fresh. The boys there are absolute gents, thanks again lads. Hope to visit again when back camping around there. 😉👍🏻

Well cooked cod and chips in generous proportions and reasonably priced too. Friendly staff. What's not to like? Recommended.

Friendly service and reasonably priced. Fish had a lot of flavour and wasn’t too greasy. Portions very generous - we had 1 large haddock and 1 large chips between two adults and that was plenty. Just be aware that this place is cash only (we witnessed quite a few people being caught out by this).

Getting takeaway fish and chips from the Flaming Fryer has now become a regular Friday lunchtime 'thing' and the quality and value has been consistently great.

I go here probably once or twice a month and its always quality food. Large portions (the large cod is huge), and decent value for money with a good variety of 'sides'

Thought by ordering by phone would be easier, not having to wait, I was asked on entery have you ordered I said yes by phone , I was told wait over there , with 5 other people, I stood and stood and stood!! Well over half an hour.....then I spotted a rock salmon.. in a different compartment...not on its own but with some COD friends, they were all dried up together ... I said, excuse me but that fish has been looking at me for over half an hour, is it mine..... o, yes it is sorry.... this was when every one else next to me joined in, as there’s were in there as well, the fish was so dry but the chips which were fresh , were not even cooked when we arrived home, needless to say, I would have told them to forget it, but it wasn’t for me and would have ment waiting longer...I had an Indian across the road.....

The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious!! They also have social distancing measures in place, well done! 🙂

We used to go there all the time, not so much now, they have great fish and chips, and if your lucky you’ll be served by the the lovely older lady. If not you’ll get teenage aggressive, surly disinterested piss taking bunch of yobs.

First time I have used this shop but will definitely be back. Fresh and well cooked plus reasonably priced.

Visited the Flaming Fryer whilst staying at the nearby campsite. Was popular with the locals and I can see why. Good fish and chips cooked fresh while you wait. The curry sauce looks different to what we are used to but really tasty. Will definitely visit again if we return to this area.

I stopped using this fish and chip shop last year as the quality was poor... Have recently started using again on a regular basis as the standards are much higher. Fresh, Hot, Quality food. At the right money..

Not the best at all..The fish tastes frozen and the chips are very oily. The meal was very expensive and a small portion. I would go elsewhere in the furture.

What an improvement eccellant fish and chips ,live locally and never went only to see if they had improved and was always disappointed ,but now good helpings lovely fish can't beet it round here ,won't be going anywhere else now well done .

Went in for fish and chips was asked if wanted large or small so I ordered two large cod and chips well what a let down large fish was the size of a birds eye portion of fish in batter and the chips tasted lovely all 10 chips I kid you not large portion is 10 chips you need to sort portions out otherwise people won’t be back.

The food in the flaming fryer is so much better than it was with its previous owners... recipies changed and improved! Great food!

The food served here is typical of most take-aways. Also there are a few scattered places to eat in. Food is nice and fresh and very popular locally.

Great chip shop located just off the village square (where you can park) .

Lovely freshly cooked food, however the chips were a bit ropey, but the fish made up for it. Wouldn't rush to go back. Staff very friendly.

We visited here twice, to get a takeaway, whilst staying in Woodbridge. The fish and chips was excellent on both occasions, freshly cooked to order. The plaice as superb :)

Normalmente no me revise un fish and chips pero después de parar aquí por casualidad me quedé muy impresionado por el sabor que me sentí obligado a cantar es alabanzas! Me volveré a alojar aquí de nuevo aunque no es el más cercano a mí. Realmente muy sabroso! !

La Freidora en Wickham Mercado Flaming es el pescado y chips más cercano a mi casa y lo uso ocasionalmente. Siempre he tenido muy buen servicio del propietario y nunca he tenido que esperar mucho tiempo para ser servido. Si hay un punto negativo sobre el comercio es su situación en la estrecha Crown Lane, que significa una no puede aparcar fuera, sino en el aparcamiento de alta de la calle, que está en el camino de la parada de autobús. Afortunadamente, como he dicho, el servicio es rápido, así que normalmente se pueden aparcar gratis, pero recuerda que para mostrar un billete de tiempo que te dan de la máquina que permite un APARCAMIENTO GRATIS de medio hora. (Nota: no hay venta de muestra, usted será multado! )

A menudo aquí un placer culpable en un viernes, a menudo tienen que hacer cola, pero no es eso una buena señal en una comida para llevar :)

Just moved into the area and was told this is the place for fish and chips and I certainly wasn't disappointed, the fish had a lovely crisp batter and the chips tasted fab. Its not quite local to me but I am happy to travel for this sort of quality and friendly atmosphere.

The fish is cooked from frozen. Amazing, the restaurant is close to the North Sea! Not as good as the many other fish and chip shops in the area. Chips have a tendency to be greasy.

Knew when I saw the queues it was going to be good and it was. Large fresh portions with crispy batter. Highly recommended

The staff was lovely, they could never do enough, informed us that if we did not like anything they would change it. But did not need to. Not that it was very special, but it was good, and you add the service and it was a lovely family day out.

I previously recommended the Golden Galleon in Aldeburgh, but this takeaway is now on a par. Freshly cooked fish in a light batter. Good friendly service.

We all ordered different fishes, and one a sausage and everyone seemed delighted. I loved it and have a job to keep away now I live right near.

This is by far the worst Fish and chip shop in suffolk. the fish isnt even local. (a coastal town and not local) chips are soggy and taste of old oil. would not reccomend.

Very tasty fish and chips and friendly staff. Ideal if camping at the Orchard campsite as it's only a 5 minute walk away along the footpath.

It is set back from the road so you will have to park across the road in a car park.When we went in there were quite a few people just standing around inside and we had to ask who was in the queue. We ordered the food but then no one took the money. Eventually we discovered who to pay and we successfully escaped the chaos with our food. It was so chaotic inside I wondered if I was being set up for a TV program. All it needed was for Basil Fawlty to serve me.They really need to have a system in place for serving customers.The food was nothing special.

The fish was freshly cooked to order, it was wonderfully moist and the batter was delicious. The chips were good too and the portions very generous. There were 4 of us and we each had fish and chips but could have shared 2 portions of chips between us. So good we went twice in a weeks holiday.

This is a village Chippy where the fish is always cooked fresh. Value for money. They will also cater for functions, given plenty of notice

Very good service catering for a birthday lunch for the local patchwork group.The fish was packed into boxes, labelled with the type of fish. They were all piping hot in a "hot box", ready on time, easy to serve and delicious.

This place is OK, the Fish and Chips are passable, however not a patch on the Aldeburgh ones.Serviceable if you are in a hurry / in the location.

For a town the size of Wickham Market the Flaming Fryer does it proud. The food is all cooked fresh and the service comes with a smile. Good value for money too. All in clean surroundings.

This is most definitely the best fish and chip shop in Suffolk. Freshly cooked, reasonably priced and DELICIOUS! An interesting line in banter also keeps you amused whilst waiting for your order.
