There are other ways of ensuring that customers abide by the Covid rules that do not involve bellowing across tables in front of other punters. A friend was in the process of putting her mask on when instead of politely approaching her and asking if she could do so, the owner barked at her from a few tables away to"Put your mask on NOW". No pleasantries, no manners. No consideration of whether she may have had a hidden disability which would have rendered her exempt from mask-wearing in the first place. When he was spoken to politely and calmly to suggest that as someone with a hidden disability, it was not appropriate to shout at someone in this way and that some manners would not have gone amiss, we were met with a rather curt "I'll police my pub how I want to, if you don't like it, then leave". We had no issues with the rules and were not breaking them. Our issue was with the owner's sheer rudeness and lack of tact in enforcing the same. More consideration needs to be given to those who are possibly exempt and paying customers should not be shown up in front of others this way. A balance needs to be struck between enforcing the rules and having consideration for others that may have genuine exemptions. The encounter has left a sour taste in our mouths and we will have no issue warning others of the unpleasant experience. Our custom will now be taken elsewhere.

I only have positive reviews about this pub and the team over the past 8 years I have been going there. I don’t write many reviews on trip advisor unless the place has been that poor or alternatively fantastic. The atmosphere in summer with the great outdoor space and the winter months by the fire and in the various small cosy rooms. During Covid they have made such an effort, much more than any of the other pubs I go to. Lovely outside in the heated marquee or similar inside in the really well spaced tables. All of the staff are really friendly and Matt and Emma are great hosts. Dale who makes the pizzas at the weekend is really great too and helps draw in even more customers. As I said, I not normally one for praise, but this place is definitely the best pub for miles, with great atmosphere, great selection of ales, gins, wines etc and most of all a great team. Thanks for the great times we have had on our own, with children or with friends .

A firm favourite for many in the locality this place has a wide selection of good beer and a spacious and pleasant garden. Extensively adapted for COVID prevention this is a great place to venture out after the lockdown. Hours are changing and always posted on Facebook so check before heading there.

A favorite local watering hole, always consistent. This is a good village pub with friendly staff, no fuss, no nonsense, always good beer, friendly staff and locals and great pizza on Friday and Saturday evenings, from a company with a wood fired pizza oven in the car park. Great for cold winter evenings and sunny summer afternoons.

Pity because it is a nice pub, with a pleasant beer garden, easy parking, comfortable seating, good local ales. However most of the people stare at you if you are dark skinned to the point it makes you very uncomfortable. Occasionally this will even be accompanied by verbal abuse.

Visited earlier today - dirty tables and we were one of the first customers in, so obviously not cleaned from the previous day - Manager was her usual friendly self (not) the air con was blasting on full making it feel like winter not a pleasant summer morning - I was tempted to ask for a cloth to wipe the table, but they say never upset anyone serving you food ! Plenty of other choices in Stamford - no wonder they were empty
