My partner and I visited The Five Arrows for a date night meal and wanted to go somewhere nice that wasn’t stuffy, and the Five Arrows was perfect! The staff where friendly and helpful, with the perfect balance of conversation and letting us enjoy each others company, they always came to the table at the perfect time and offered insights on dishes and drink choice. The area we were sat was quieter than others but the atmospheric hum of the whole restaurant gave the whole building a warm feeling. Would recommend to anybody!

Good food, excellent service and pleasant atmosphere, only fault was the uncomfortable seating. Management needs to consider updating the chairs as the existing ones are well shot.

Listed for it's two AA rosettes as a restaurant with rooms, the Five Arrows is housed in the Gothic splendour of a house built to accommodate workers on Waddesdon Manor in the late 1880s. The rooms have been refurbished to a high standard and are well presented. The staff multitask and are really helpful once found. The food (two breakfasts and two dinners) was something to look forward to with an extensive wine list. The Eton Mess was worth a double visit. Our only hiccup was with the tapes used to add aroma to the room. They were too much for us but were willingly removed when requested. This is an ideal place to stay for a visit to the Manor. It’s right by the entrance ti the grounds and is run by the estate.

The food is very very good. I just don’t like being overcharged because of a ‘new till system’ … left a bad taste …. Especially when the head waiter/manager argued the amount. We will be back for the superb food but things like this should not happen.

Unbelievably overpriced! We had the ‘teapas’ and was not impressed by the portion sizes especially for the price! £5 for a tiny (and I mean tiny) slice of Battenberg cake! Not even a Mr. Kipling size but a 1/5th of a Mr Kipling slice! Portions were just so small for the price you might as well just get a regular meal? Waitress was also quite rude and abrupt when we complained, saying ‘she told us this at the start’ or ‘well what do you want me to do’. Mediocre food and wouldn’t come back.

Looks old on the outside with a more modern interior. Never stayed here. The restaurant is very friendly with good relaxed service. The food is always excellent and very adaptable for gluten free. Not a cheap place to eat, definitely one for that special occasion. Who can resist the ‘cherry blossom’ dessert

For some reason the crispy chicken starter tasted like a sweet and sour chicken that you'd get from a takeaway just presented nicer. The meat for my Sunday roast was colder than the plate. The potatoes were obviously thrown in the fryer. The gravy was looser than a jus. Nothing was seasoned except for the carrots which were marinaded. Even the cauli cheese was lacking in any flavour. A little salt goes a long way. The beef was cooked perfectly just sad that it came out cold. If I wanted all of this I could've gone to the honey bee, would have been cheaper aswell.

We held a lunch party to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary at the Five Arrows, on 30th June 2024. From the moment we made the decision to hold the party, Adam was completely on the ball, with helpful suggestions and advice. On the day itself, Maggie and Jeferson and their team handled everything fantastically: highly attentive without being intrusive, nothing was too much trouble. Glasses were never allowed to be empty and the canapés and food were beyond superb. For anyone thinking of holding an event at the Five Arrows, I can’t recommend it highly enough. For us, it was a completely stress-free and very enjoyable day.

We booked The Snug for a joint family birthday gathering of ten people. This room was cosy, intimate and beautifully presented - just what we wanted! The food was amazing - we had a range of dishes - nibbles, starters for children, Sunday roast, fish and dishes for children - all of which were throughly enjoyed. The presentation was immaculate and portion size perfect. The puddings were heavenly and the two birthday guests had a special 'Happy Birthday' message on their dessert - which was a special touch. Communication throughout with the General Manager (Adam) was excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to come back again soon for a meal. Thank you to the waiting staff, chefs and Adam for making this occasion a throughly enjoyable and memorable experience.

Our favourite local restaurant. Elegant dining room, friendly and efficient but unpretentious staff, a limited but exquisite fine dining menu. At our last visit I started with a delicious ham hock canneloni with a mushroom ketchup followed by exquisite local venison in a rich reduced gravy with a selection of vegetable and a small cottage pie on the side. My wife and I both love the Rothschild Viognier at a very reasonable £26.50.

Very disappointing Sunday roast. Very small roast selection and no vegetarian roast option or vegetarian gravy. The roast parsnips were hard and left on the plate. It was all lovely - tasty food, friendly service,( but rather inexperienced) elegant Christmas decorations and welcome open fires. However, our meal was spoilt by a child on a neighbouring table whose parents allowed him to sprawl on the floor and race toy cars back & forth. I feared the waitresses might step on a car & go flying. If a child isn't mature enough to sit at a table quietly, perhaps watching something on an ipad if entertainment is required, then they should not be there. I wished the management had stepped in with a quiet word.

This was the first visit to the Five Arrows. And our first outing to a restaurant since lockdown ended. The property was very welcoming and the staff very friendly, especially Rory who was the life and soul of the place. The restaurant was very cosy. The menu was a disappointment, and it was difficult to choose as it is trying to be gastro pub fine dining and does not achieve either.Example was Angus Steak for £25.I asked what steak it was and was told tonight it was sirloin.I asked was the beef dry aged and was told definitely not.Why can you not put today's steak is !!I was then recommended the mince beef pie, but after eighteen months this did not appeal. So was recommended the Lamb Rump.Bad Choice. The food arrived with five slices of meat. The fat was white and unrendered and was uneatable,To be fair the staff were good and it came off the billBut it ruined the mealThe chef who served this plate up obviously does not give a monkey about his profession and needs to seriously consider his position.Looking at the reviews this is not the first complaint about the Lamb .Not impressed and it needs sorting .

They had the right sized cutlery, brought food out quickly and gave them activity sheets. They could not have been more attentive. We went for a lunch with my fiancee, we didn't want to go in a random place as at this moment we don't trust many places, but it was recommended from some friends. The moment we arrived the ambience was very nice, the restaurant team was waiting for us with big warm smiles. Straight away the gave us instructions about their measures including one way system at the whole place which was, I must say impressive... Our table really nice and the whole restaurant didn't even have trace of dust or dirt. The moment we sat the waitress offered us water of our preference and them she explained us the menus, also quite impressive for disposable ones. Nice, clear and elegant with plenty of choices. Their wine list great too, but you can expect that from a Rothschild owned business as they are owning some of the best vineyards in the world. We skipped the first course but we got a risotto and a stone bass as our main courses with a braised cabbage as a side plate, they were brilliant, the cabbage was divine, the moment you think that how a cabbage can get better you just try this one and forget everything else. As puddings we got a white chocolate delice and a frangipane tart, AMAZING. The final bill though was the big surprise, I expected to pay more for so nice food and wine, but no.. it was much more less than I expected and I would be fine to pay even more for such a nice meal. I totally recommend it.

The dyson hair dryer was a great touch! Breakfast was again fantastic and we truly could not fault the place. We want to give a special thanks to the staff working that evening and particularly Adam, the manager, who could not of tried harder to make our day as perfect as it was. He responded quickly to emails and put any worries we had about holding an event during covid restrictions instantly at ease in a very professional manner. Thank you Five Arrows, we will definitely be back and we couldn’t of wished for a better venue for our wedding reception.

Have eaten here many times over the years. Visited after going to Waddesdon Manor and their Christmas market and had the most spectacular meal. It would not of been out of place on a top London fine dining menu - it was the best Duck I had ever eaten. The flavour combinations were spot on. Good size portions. They locally sourced produce, including from the Waddesdon Estate. They also do amazing Liqueur coffee’s. Lovely friendly serving staff. Will be going back again soon, hopefully when the lighter evenings arrive as the outside space is super in Spring/Summer. 10/10

This had to be one of the best meals I've had with my husband - and we've been together 22 years and eaten at The Ritz in London! My husband had booked a stay here at the hotel and arranged a stunning three-course meal for our Wedding Anniversary and I still remember all the courses despite having eaten much since :-) Excellent service and advice on what to drink with each course - drinks too were wonderful.Highly recommended - we look forward to returning.

It must be twenty years since we last dined in the 5 Arrows and I'm still wondering why we left it so long. My wife's Godmother reached the age of 90 so we all decided to celebrate with a meal. Eleven of us sat down to the lunch set menu and it was just perfect. I opted for the truffle and artichoke pasta followed by the Guinea fowl, which I have to say was delicious. Service was great if a little slow, but that was to be expected with a table of eleven.

Food was very good, good intimate atmosphere, lovely staff. Steak diners were a little disappointed in the steak but every other aspect of the food was superb, especially the lamb dish and the guinea fowl - perfectly cooked and the lamp mousaka went down very well.

Pleasant lunch in delightful private alcove and later tea where the kitchen kindly made fresh scones for us. Courteous and attentive service, bustling and happy family atmosphere.

I just got charged £28 for 2 cold kebabs instead of £18! Just because me and my partner sat inside! The guy behind the till pulled out an entirely different menu with £5 charge per seat. Absolute rip off! I was a regular take out customer but not anymore that’s for sure.

Wow! I thought serious food at lunch like this had pretty much died out! Stepped through the door for a pint of Greene King IPA with a friend and decided to stay for lunch. Interior is clean and simple with an extensive well-lit dining room but I preferred to take a table in the bar. On Thursday lunchtime, it's unlikely to be packed but even so a couple of tables of appreciative regulars were in place. The service is impeccable, helpful and knowledgeable. Rarely use the term 'gastro pub' but if that's a place that turns out great food and can keep beer well, then, this is it. I did linger over the wine list but was driving so couldn't be tempted to even a decent fino sherry to start or a glass of the excellent Hungarian dry tokai or a bottle from the impressive list on clarets. The evident quality of the produce and the fact that local suppliers for beef, game and poultry inter alia, get star billing is a major tick of approval in my book. Enough of me blathering. After an amuse-bouche of pumpkin soup topped with a spiced oil which really hit the spot, my starter of confit pork belly - caramelised underneath with a layer of crispy crackling on top - with herbs, microgreens, apple and vibrant dashi stock was one of the best starters I've had in a very long time. My guest's spiced chicken was similarly impressive and kept this curry fanatic very happy with it's nod to the enduringly popular chicken tikka masala. Sadly, it was a quick lunch or we would have tried the prawn cocktail in savoury cornet and the venison dish from the snacks list as well. I have to admit lasagna rarely sets my pulse rating on a menu. I'm pleased that the unusual combination of pine nuts, aubergine and sage 'reeled me' in but was still not prepared for the rich, highly flavoured stack with which I was presented. A momentary doubt that it might be a bit dry was immediately corrected by the addition, at table, of a fabulous cheese sauce closely followed by another which resembled more a pesto than a sauce. These together with deep fried sage leaves completed what amounted to a substantial dish. The control of ingredients and exact techniques of this kitchen were also on show with lamb main course chosen by my guest. Can't say much more because my concentration was taken up with my lasagna! Would have loved to have tried either the cheeses or one of the magnificent puddings on offer but time did not allow. I ear-wigged from a conversation with the manager on another table that the kitchen here has five chefs at lunch on a week day; seven in the evening! That's an investment in quality and technique that one is rarely confronted by nowadays when you call in a for a casual lunch. Great food, great pub setting, wonderful service. The two or three course lunch menu also represents great value in these uncertain times. I shall be back!
