Great location, stayed overnight with dinner option - good food to be honest and amazing value ( I mean cmon, wines are £20-40 per bottle!) if you stay - you visit Waddesdon Manor for free which is another £28 discount! Rooms were good! Some rooms are bigger than others though (I suggest you upgrade for extra £20ish) breakfast is OK - I think full english could have tasted better (although dinner food was top notch).

Having visited over the years for drinks and Brush Parties we have never eaten here. Our good friends got us a voucher as a gift and as it was my birthday we thought lets give it a go. An old coaching Inn from years gone by which has been transformed in to a thriving hotel many years ago. Lovely location on the High street with nice gardens at the rear and a functions room for weddings etc out back. Even though we live in the village we might give the hotel a go one weekend. Met at the door by friendly, polite and smiling staff who took our reservation and showed us to out table. We ere given plenty of time and not rushed as we just couldn't decide what we wanted to eat. Shame they don't do a taster menu as I fancied a bit of everything. Drinks order taken while we contemplate what we wanted. Plenty of choice if your vegetarian or gluten free too. The menu is set out well and has a guide to all the dishes with abbreviated letters along side which you can check if unsure on the following page. (ie V for vegetarian etc). This was really helpful. I have never tried Pidgeon (approx. £10.00) before so had a starter which was very nice. Seen plenty in the garden at home. So what out ..... This I followed with the Korean Spiced Belly Port (approx. £25.00) not overly spiced and I have to say that was really nice. I could have had that again if I wasn't saving my self for pudding later. I also decided I fancied the chunky chips (approx. £5.00) as well again they were fantastic. The meal is plentiful so you don't necessarily need extras . Both certainly worth the money both presentation and flavours were excellent. My wife went for the Slow cooked beetroot & wild mushroom stroganoff. Again presentation and taste excellent. Not having a large appetite she let me try a few mouth fulls and I have to say next time we visit (and we will) that will be my next meal to try. I finished off with the Iced honey parfait, salted caramel ganache, honeycomb (approx. £10.00) and yet a gain presentation and taste was excellent. We fished of with a couple of cocktails after our bottle of Rothschilds Sauvignon white wine (approx. £28.00 for the wine). You do have an extensive drinks menu for wines beers and spirits. All in all highly recommended. Great dining experience and a great friendly team. A special mention ,excellent customer service from Kate J nothing was too much trouble always smiling interacting with everyone ensuring their experience was fantastic and enjoyable. The rest of the team were excellent too but unfortunately I didn't get their names to mention them individually. A lovely setting and atmosphere. Not cheap eats but what you do get is quality, presentation and fantastic customer service. Also a big up to the whole kitchen and Chef. Defiantly visit again. If you get the chance and fancy a special occasion treat or drop in for lunch and drinks defiantly do it.

We live within a 30 minute drive of Waddesdon and, as National Trust Life Members, have visited the Manor dozens of times. We had never previously dined at the 5 Arrows restaurant but were helped in our decision to do so by a generous gift of a voucher from our daughter. In nearly 60 years of marriage, my wife and I have eaten in many fine dining establishments in many countries around the world, including several with Michelin and AA star and rosette ratings. The 5 Arrows is up there among the finest! From the luxury of a spacious on-site car park, to the warm greeting as we entered the restaurant and the feeling of understated, tasteful decor throughout, we absolutely felt at complete ease and ready to enjoy our meal. We had perused the menu on-line before arrival, so we were fairly sure what we wanted. There is a choice between a la carte and table d'hote and, in fact, we mixed the two. I particularly wanted the Aberdeen Angus steak (which incurred a surcharge, but was well worth it), whilst everything else was from the set menu. I was virtually blown away by the black truffle hummus starter. Everything about it was top class; presentation (remember, we eat first with our eyes), the beautiful ingredients - not least the garlic level - and the portion size. I have had just about a belly full of trendy tiny portions and if that's not a prize winning oxymoron, I don't know what is. Seriously, the portion size of this starter could easily have been a main course in many modern restaurants. If I had nothing nice to say about any other aspect, I would still wish to return to the 5 Arrows to have that starter again. Everything about our other courses was perfect and I must add that a large, excellent espresso for £3.50 has to win the award for the best value coffee I've enjoyed in England for very many years. Would we recommend this restaurant. You betcha!!

We went here for a meal only - Sunday Roast. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. Whilst the restaurant was tidy, and the staff polite it overall was not a great experience. The starters were tasty & warm, however considering we were eating at 1pm on Sunday the mains were not exactly hot more lukewarm, my partner had roast pork and had only one slice of meat, I had beef and inly two slices. We felt this was poor considering the price. When we went to pay we were informed the venue was cashless - this was not displayed anywhere upon entering unlike other places which make it very clear, the waiter then assured that we needed to split the bill over two cards which I felt was very insulting and assumptive that as a younger couple we could not afford the bill! I cannot comment on the hotel as we did not stay here. Safe to say we will not return.

The welcome was friendly, the dogs were looked after as were we, drinks order taken, food order taken, staff were very friendly and perfectly attentive, We had Duck confit, prawn toast, beef , Stone Bass, a pint of 6X and 2 large glasses of wine ( for the lady) 😁😁 £101. The hotel manager Aggie very kindly upgraded our room which was a lovely suprise. Superking sized bed, high ceilings with exposed beams. All in all a beautiful room. We had dinner in the restaurant that night and the food was excellent, definitely recommend the lamb pie. Breakfast the next morning was also delicious and we were looked after on both occasions by Noah, thank you to them!

I stayed here with my friend on the third weekend of October. We paid for the package (B&B and £30 each towards the cost of dinner). The staff were friendly and the food was good. Unfortunately the room massively let the experience down. On arriving into the room, we instantly noticed lots poo splatters in the toilet pan and underneath the seat. The shower cubical was mouldy. There was dust over every surface. The inside of the windows were filled with cobwebs. The carpet, decorative cushions and walls had stains on them. We also only had 1/3 of a toilet roll between 2! I immediately complained and asked to be moved but they were fully booked. We were offered and given a large discount and told the rooms were being refurbished in the future. Two staff members were sent up with more toilet roll and to clean. They asked me where I wanted them to clean which surprised me as I thought they should go in and look themselves. Due to the large discount, I wasn't going to post anything but I do think that something needs to be done to ensure 4* rooms are at a high cleaning standard. I am also concerned as before we visited here, my family and I brought vouchers for my brother in laws 50th birthday to spend a night here with the package. I am really hoping when he books this next year that cleaning standards and refurbishments have been improved/implemented. I have warned them to ask for a refurbished room when they do book and I pray that their room is clean as we spent a lot of money on these vouchers.

My partner and I visited The Five Arrows for a date night meal and wanted to go somewhere nice that wasn’t stuffy, and the Five Arrows was perfect! The staff where friendly and helpful, with the perfect balance of conversation and letting us enjoy each others company, they always came to the table at the perfect time and offered insights on dishes and drink choice. The area we were sat was quieter than others but the atmospheric hum of the whole restaurant gave the whole building a warm feeling. Would recommend to anybody!

Listed for it's two AA rosettes as a restaurant with rooms, the Five Arrows is housed in the Gothic splendour of a house built to accommodate workers on Waddesdon Manor in the late 1880s. The rooms have been refurbished to a high standard and are well presented. The staff multitask and are really helpful once found. The food (two breakfasts and two dinners) was something to look forward to with an extensive wine list. The Eton Mess was worth a double visit. Our only hiccup was with the tapes used to add aroma to the room. They were too much for us but were willingly removed when requested. This is an ideal place to stay for a visit to the Manor. It’s right by the entrance ti the grounds and is run by the estate.

Unbelievably overpriced! We had the ‘teapas’ and was not impressed by the portion sizes especially for the price! £5 for a tiny (and I mean tiny) slice of Battenberg cake! Not even a Mr. Kipling size but a 1/5th of a Mr Kipling slice! Portions were just so small for the price you might as well just get a regular meal? Waitress was also quite rude and abrupt when we complained, saying ‘she told us this at the start’ or ‘well what do you want me to do’. Mediocre food and wouldn’t come back.

For some reason the crispy chicken starter tasted like a sweet and sour chicken that you'd get from a takeaway just presented nicer. The meat for my Sunday roast was colder than the plate. The potatoes were obviously thrown in the fryer. The gravy was looser than a jus. Nothing was seasoned except for the carrots which were marinaded. Even the cauli cheese was lacking in any flavour. A little salt goes a long way. The beef was cooked perfectly just sad that it came out cold. If I wanted all of this I could've gone to the honey bee, would have been cheaper aswell.

The food was amazing - we had a range of dishes - nibbles, starters for children, Sunday roast, fish and dishes for children - all of which were throughly enjoyed. The presentation was immaculate and portion size perfect. The puddings were heavenly and the two birthday guests had a special 'Happy Birthday' message on their dessert - which was a special touch. Communication throughout with the General Manager (Adam) was excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to come back again soon for a meal. Impromptu pass by and had the most amazing meal. Delicious pork belly for one and sumptuous steak for the other. So accommodating, friendly delightful and knowledgable staff. Well worth a visit.

Very good, imaginative cheffy menu. Expensive but lovely. Then we walked in Waddesdon Manor's extensive grounds. Also lovely.

It was all lovely - tasty food, friendly service,( but rather inexperienced) elegant Christmas decorations and welcome open fires. However, our meal was spoilt by a child on a neighbouring table whose parents allowed him to sprawl on the floor and race toy cars back & forth. I feared the waitresses might step on a car & go flying. If a child isn't mature enough to sit at a table quietly, perhaps watching something on an ipad if entertainment is required, then they should not be there. I wished the management had stepped in with a quiet word.

All drinks were good, starter of filet pork and scotch egg was amazing , both had sirloin of beef seasonal veg , and roast potatoes.. (some potatoes tasted as if they were pre cooked so a bit tough ).. cheesecake was lovely , cheese and biscuits good.. all the staff were very attentive and friendly and we were seated in a lovely little romantic booth.. atmosphere was welcoming. Our meal wasn’t perfect but the experience and staff would definitely encourage us to return.. hope to see you all soon.

We had an excellent lunch yesterday, the food was excellent. I had the duck breast which was beautifully tender and cooked to perfection, my husband’s guinea fowl was just as good. We couldn’t choose between the desserts so had one each and shared. The service was friendly and efficient, Michelle looked after us very well. We’ll definitely go back.

I was very excited to try out the restaurant but was incredibly disappointed. We ordered the mixed grill family box to take away and requested rice instead chips. The box was full of over cooked meat, (rather than cubed grilled chicken it was dry slithers of breast ) and loads of dry chicken doner that was inedible. The halloumi that we ordered was missing , no rice as requested and the salad was just lettuce and cucumber, no tomatoes and chillies as you usually get with a Turkish meal.the whole meal cost £62 and we couldn’t eat most of it. Turkish food/Grilled meats and salad shouldn’t be so hard to prepare nicely. We threw most of it away and had to eat cheese on toast instead. I don’t like to give negative reviews but felt I needed to share so others don’t waste their money.
