Food was nice and will visit again

Stopped off here when out a walk along Largs seafront with my partner. No rolls left for a chip roll. Nice enough but nothing special.

Nice view and delish food. Be careful as can be quite busy. God bless.

Nice fish and chips portions getting smaller and they never have any fritters been at various different times always the same they have ran out

Absolutely fabulous meal, very tasty and as its cooked fresh, very hot. Massive portion had to leave some of the chunky chips. Homemade mushy peas not so good. Definitely recommend this place.

I started going here after going to the Wee Hurrie for years but their standards had fallen, The Fish Works is way ahead with the quality of its fish suppers, lovely crispy batter and chips cooked to perfection without and grease,well worth a visit to this award winning establishment.

Meant to be an award winning fish & chip shop, but totally regret buying 3 fish suppers from here….the haddock was so thin it was hard to find in the crispy breaded dressing, which was way overcooked. The battered haddock seemed a bit better but I would NOT buy from the Fish Works again!

Wonderful setting overlooking the sea and watching the cumbrae ferry coming and going to the great cumbrae. For once the sun was shinning and no seagulls swooping in on the food. I had the fish supper £10.90 both the fish and chips were excellent. Fish batter lovely, thin and crisp not stodgy. Fish meaty. What more couldvyou ask for Good service fish freshly made so a wee wait but worth it. Good value

By far the best fish and chips I have ever tasted! The batter was insane and they threw in free sauce. They were willing to airfry salmon for my girlfriend which was so nice

The fish was good but I expect home made tartar sauce from an award winning restaurant/ take away, not 80p for a tiny, horrible sachet

Wonderful Smoked Haddock and chips

Tried here 4 times now and it's been hit or miss, mostly the latter unfortunately. Tonight the fish tasted and smelled a little too fishy, fresh fish shouldn't have a strong fish odour. Batter wasn't that great either, same with the chips, a little soft, not very crispy or fluffy. 3 other chippies here in Largs and I have tried them all. Most disappointing meal of all has come from here, which surprises me. Clearly all food is made to order here but really disappointed. This time everything was seriously salty, far too much but I'll forgive as other times I've tried here have been fine in that regard. Left half the fish as the more I ate, the more I felt like it was just not quite right, again, going back to the slightly strong fish taste. Should be the best in Largs, expect it to be too but sadly not. Lived up in Aberdeenshire a while back and really think this plaice (sorry 😂) should be up there with The Bay in Stonehaven, has the reputation and awards to be capable of it

Food was amazing ,freshly cooked and very tasty

The fish works served nice food although on Sunday I noticed the wee fishies out the water are shrinking 🙄, not as big as the fish used to be!! Getting a bit miserable with his portions still nicely cooked.

Absolute rip off, nearly £10 for 2 chips and curry sauce, the curry sauce that was used is £1 a carton from farmfoods or home bargains, keep well away from this place as the chips were hard and it was the cheap curry sauce,was back on Easter Sunday 2024 and nothing had changed except for the fish,portion size had got smaller so stop ripping day tripper families off,used to be 2 fish now 1and the size of it was a disgrace, great day out spoilt by greedy owner of the fish works in largs,

This place never fails. Always the best fish supper you will get anywhere.

Get there early for seat outside for people watching and great grub

So disappointed, been regulars here since it’s opened , portions now much smaller and last twice so overcooked , living on its reputation before , shame, won’t be back we will go to another chip shop now.

Visited here after it was 3rd place in an awards scheme making it the top one in Scotland. While the fish was nice, thick and large the chips were a disappointment. Very small and thin and tasteless. If they had been proper chunky chips it would have made the meal so much better. You pay a premium for the fresh fish so it's a pity the chips let it down.

Been waiting to try Fish Works in Largs and today was very wet and wild and we were hungry,it was busy with tourists and kids today and we were served quickly and food was delicious.Fantastic Menu and reasonably priced,it was great to see which boat the fish came from,that was amazing to know.

Iv been coming here since it first opened, and fish was always lovely a big and chips were nice too, but this time very disappointed, fish look as if it had been halfed chips looked like they had been put through one of those square cutters, and it’s not cheap, won’t be back, would not recommend

Ordered online for a collection and was ready at the chosen time. Got home and all the suppers were absolutely piping hot and so fresh! The quality is just superb, not a drip of grease and their curry sauce is the best!! Easy to see...

On first of march we decided to take a trip to Largs and for lunch to the best chippy in Scotland where we have visited before as always the staff were extremely pleasant and friendly we opted for fish and black pudding the food is cooked to order so no over cooked burnt food it's far better when fresh which is the way they do it food was absolutely delicious as always never had any complaint even sitting in car whilst savouring the taste and quality of food whilst being eyed up by the odd sea gull could not distract us. Food amazing well done again

Food was top-class, the service is quite flat, not a lot of interaction. There was no atmosphere.

Never got to eat there as there was only outside seats left. To cold for that.

Food quality is excellent. Value for money has went downhill. The chicken breast strips used to be decent sized pieces now they resemble chicken fingers. I’d rather pay more and keep a high standard of product than cutting the size of the portion.

Paid £10.90 for haddock and chips. Portion size in my opinion just didn’t justify this price. Very little fish/haddock mainly batter and too few chips. Eat here often as like the view but will unfortunately go elsewhere from now on as cheaper and bigger portions....

I Got a fish supper on Saturday night there was more batter than fish.I've been before and the fish was delicious , however £12 is to expensive for mostly batter , l won’t go back .shame on them.

Never been more disappointed in my life,this place came with great reviews but to my horror the fish was coated in hard batter and the fish portion was small to say the least,the chips had a disgusting stench of them as if they had been lying in water all night,definitely overpriced. Dont believe the hype,AVOID THIS PLACE.

My partner is vegan and asked about the vegan fish, this was being cooked in the same oil they informed us as the fish so it's not actually vegan. Was very disappointed. It's great they have tried but it's actually worse that they don't then impose proper standards with it.

This establishment is amazing. Even in the middle of summer you could tell they took their time with the food to make sure it was of the highest quality. I would 100% go again and definetly recommend for you to go and try it.

Friendly young girl, the guy was a bit cool and not so warm. 2 x hadock supper with 2 x tartare sauces. Tartare sauce = mayonnaise, that's all we could taste. Not enough capers in it, a sadly disappointing £3.20 (£1.60 each) lesson. Haddock and Chips. I asked for loads of salt and vinegar, and I was disappointed, hardly any whatsoever, I don't think any was added. The fish was a very small portion, considering the price was way too small. And tasteless. I could hardly pick up the flavour of the fish. The batter was light and crispy. Chips: tasteless. No taste at all. The best thing about the chippy is chippy Chips, sadly not the experience I had here. Might come back next time but considering the costs and the experience we are probably going to try another service provider in the town. The biggest disappointing factor is that they're advertising as award-winning, maybe they did in 2018 but that was 6-years ago, nothing was award-winning about what I ate yesterday (Sunday 14th January 2024)

Spotlessly clean, lovely staff but chips were dry and the fish batter oozed grease. £10.90 for a bit of fish is far too expensive. Won't be back.

Took our grandson for a ride on Calmac, decided to avail ourselves of the chippie as we got off the boat. Probably the best on the Clyde, fast service, freshly made, delicious. Our grandson could not get enough, if in Largs have some, not cheap...

The perfect chips on a cold but sunny November day! Hot, crispy, salted and vinegared to perfection...Great, friendly service and ketchup/brown sauce offered on the side. Perfect pick Mr up after a walk up Knock Hill!

One of the best fish and chips I ever had

Went here last week as has seen that it had won awards. Staff were pleasant and efficient. Menu is limited compared to other chippies and my wife couldn't get her favourite which is haddock in breadcrumbs. She decided on the haggis and thoroughly enjoyed it. I chose the fish. Normally for the price charged I would have got 2 pieces but only one here but it was a reasonable size. The problem was the amount of grease that came out of the fish and portion of fritters. I put a napkin under the fish and it was soon soaked the fish was tasty but a bit too greasy for my liking. The biggest problem was the fritters. They were lying in a pool of grease. I stood them on end for a few minutes and the grease filled the bottom of the box that they came in. My wife refused to eat one and I just ate the top half of each fritter until I got to the greasy part at the bottom

Me and my daughter got fritters and both portions were stone cold, really made it unpleasant to eat and they went in the bin, sadly after hearing/reading great reviews onit was a disappointment

Definitely BEST chip shop in town-- we tried their chicken, halibut, and even the haggis fritter-- all excellent flavors, not greasy, nicely seasoned. Chips are the way they should be. Plan for a short wait as everything is made fresh, to order. A great takeaway. No place to sit inside, small number of tables on the patio-- fine depending on the weather.

Regular customer at The Fish Works and always enjoy their fish suppers. Pleasant staff, the best fish in chips in town and a marvelous view.

Really hard chips hard to bite potatoes dried up in them there that hard fish ok chips are really hard .

On my last 2 visits I have noticed that the size of the haddock fillets in my "Fish n chips" had significantly got smaller, despite asking and paying for " large haddock".

This was not typical fish and chips. The fish was the size of a large fish finger. What we had tasted ok. The chips were old and crispy. A complete waste of money. So disappointed.

Beautiful summers evening and I really fancied a chippy so we drove into Largs. I absolutely love The Fish Works! The staff are always lovely and the food is always delicious! I had the prawns and John had the cod - great portion sizes and lots of flavour! I also got the Louisiana sauce - absolutely delicious and a good kick to it! If you ever fancy a chippy, I'd always recommend The Fish Works at Largs!

Fast as in McDonald's but a little too expensive, there is a cafe nearby, it will be cheaper, so don't rush to order and go and look around

The staff had the service down perfectly. The questions they asked as they served you meant you had exactly what you wanted.

It's OK I got a funny taste from the container the meal came in. COD did not have much flavour and abit bland. Not sure how they won awards, I've tasted better in other places and got alot more for my money .

Been told about The Fish Works by a friend that is from Largs, looked very busy when we came on Sunday afternoon but was served quite quickly, The menu had a great selection of stuff I think that everyone will find something for themselves. We had 2 single fish ,kids fish scampi and fish supper came out about £45, so can be pricey for some, the only downside for me was that my cod was just a bit over, but overall the food was tasty, kids and wife enjoyed it.

One of the best fish suppers you can get. Highly recommend. Right on the beach front, next to the car park. There are some table and chairs and of course the normal beach front benches. Batter was superb, super crunchy, not the slightest hint of grease. Chips and fish were fresh. Menu quite extensive including crab, squid and languostine. The curry sauce is nether chip shop or Chinese. It was called Irish 🤷‍♀️ and had a slightly sweet flavour. It was different to our local, but still really tasty with just a nice level of spice. We will definitely be going back even though they are a bit expensive, the food is worth it.
