We were staying in Bournemouth and took the Purbeck Breezer open top bus to Swanage on a day when the wind was blowing in 40+ mph gusts! Climbed up to Peveril Point to take in the view. Popped in to the Fish Plaice just for a take away portion of chips. So glad we did. Was surprised when we had to stand and wait while they were cooked, but this attention to detail serving fresh food made such a difference. You put your own salt and vinegar on and you're away. Fantastic taste, absolutely delicious. Made the walk back to the bus station a real treat. Simple pleasures!

Had two enormous portions of fish and chips,enough for 4 people . Everything cooked to perfection and delicious.10/10

Fish was well cooked and very tasty with crispy batter. Chips were excellent. Friendly and fast service. Lucky with the January weather, sat outside to eat. Although seagulls were around they did not pester us.

stopped for fish and chip takeaway, cod and chips. Chips lovely and crispy, fish batter not cooked inside properly, but fish excellent. Nice and hot.Well wrapped, cardboard knife and fork, plus serviettes. we also had 2 takeaway coffees, omg, dishwater ! tasteless, we threw them both away. If we had eaten in we would have complained, but once you have driven away, not a lot you can do. Total cost £24.00. Consider other dining options local to the area. We will not return to The Fish Plaice. Not the plaice for us.

Best fish and chips in Swanage. The greatest chips I have ever eaten, with each one being like mini roast potatoes, creamy inside crispy on the outside. The Fishcakes were perfect! Golden on the outside, juicy and full of flavour on the inside seasoned well. Good value for money although perhaps could serve a slightly larger portion of chips. Although the dining area is not the best looking it serves a purpose and is actually a bonus as the establishment is mainly geared for takerway. It is great as each table have their own salt and vinegar. The sauce sachets could be cheaper. The staff are very friendly. Definitely recommend.

Oily tasteless fish and chips. Ate in as it was a chilly night and had to listen to one of the guys behind the counter swearing away loudly airing his views about how he thinks Muslims have taken over the country, the danger of the COVID vaccine and that mobile phones masts suck oxygen out of the air. Wouldn't go back.

Had dinner here one Tuesday night during a recent family holiday. As it was out of season a lot of the big chains were closed and this place had a que of locals and regulars out the door (always a good sign in my opinion.) They had a wide range of fish and other options available. An as a midlander who lives nowhere near the sea I was impressed the fish was caught that day and they even told you in which boat. The fish and the chips were both delicious and the portions were very generous. Although no seating indoors they do have a couple of picnic benches outside and you can always nip round the corner to the seafront.

The Fish Plaice is on a corner spot in Swanage and we had noticed the huge queue outside a few days before. So just popped back to see what all the fuss was about on the Thursday! There was luckily no queue at 12.15, Mir luck than anything else. We sat inside as rain was threatening. We both had the cod and chips and it was the best we have ever had. We live in Norfolk surrounded by chippies but none of them could match the fish plaice. The fish was really fresh. The batter light, crispy and airy. There was not a single taste of greasy oil at all. The chips were out of this world. I don’t know how they made them like that but they were crispy but at the same light and soft in the middle. Spent the day in Swanage and had read previous good reviews of this place. As the weather was not great, my husband and myself chose to eat indoors. There are only a few indoor tables. Ordered a regular cod and chips and a haddock and chips. Both were cooked while we waited. Generous portions of the freshest fish in a light batter with tasty chips. Totally delicious. Highly recommend.

Very good fish and chips. We had two small cod and chips, the dish was good and the chips were good and very crispy. Ample for a lunch and in the current climate reasonable value.

Terrible Fish and Chips . Cod was a thin tasteless piece and covered in really thick ,hard and greasy batter .Hardly any fish inside . The greasy fish is put on top of the already greasy chips which then soak them in more grease So greasy that it ran out of the paper onto my clothes and stained my dress My husband had to leave his and I had to leave most of mine . Tucked around the corner near the Museum towards the Pier we enjoyed fabulous fish and chips on a table outside. Small, regular or large portion of local cod with ample chips, from Lincolnshire potatoes. Sauces available in squeezable containers 40p each. Very good, accepts cards.

We bought our food from here three times during our holiday. Good portion sizes, everything we had was tasty. Cheeseburgers, veggie burgers, pea fritters, homemade fishcakes, chips, cheesy chips. All food nice and hot and well wrapped. Pleasant staff. Good atmosphere.
