Looe is on the up as a foodie destination because of places like this. Really tasty food. What else could you want from a restaurant!

What a find! This place was recommended to us as a place for great food - with outside seating so we could bring our dog too. The staff were really attentive and friendly and the food was out of this world. Green tomato salsa on the oysters is a must. The anchovy butter on the sourdough brought just the right level of flavour and Fred’s spuds were out of this world. Lobster is shelled for you so you don’t need to faff and defo only get extra bread for mopping. We’ll definitely be back!

Excellent from start to finish. We selected the bar experience, a first for me to be up close and personal with chef Fred and trusty sidekick Dan.... Ably supported by wonder woman making a cosy, efficient team. Tapas style various fish dishes cooked to order. My favourite was always going to be mackerel. But offers of John Dorey, Red Mullet with the catches of the day on offer. A chance to get up close and personal with how a modest, yet efficient chef kitchen is smoothly run. It's fabulous to see a care and pride in presentation....all whilst holding conversation. This is exactly what supporting small businesses should be about. We were happy to contribute. Thanks for an enhanced experience and wonderful eve with fantastic memories, delicious food and of course incredible company!

The Fish Market. Sit at the counter and watch Chef Fred create. The food all tasted delicious and super fresh. The menu changed daily . A real treat in Looe.

We booked the fish market under recommendation from a family member, just off the busy high street however not one to miss. Perfectly placed on the river, and as they say if any closer they’d be fishing. Emma is an absolute asset to the business, we had wines and were offered small plates/nibbles before we were seated without issue. Once seated we booked the bar where we could see the excellence that was shown from Fred himself. As a whole it was an overwhelming experience being allowed to chat with the chef (fred) and discuss the dishes, we went for what was recommended with 2 dishes per person and 2 sides (one each), we ended up ordering more as all the food is sublime (as an understatement) the monkfish is exceptional, nothing compares to this place. If you are wanting a once in a lifetime food experience you need to book here, Fred is an incredible chef and the food matches who he is. Everything is fresh daily so the menu does change as expected from what is caught. We had zero complaints, an absolute gem for looe and we would definitely travel the many miles to attend again. Fred and Emma (who we met whilst there) are an absolute asset to the town and business without question. How this place is not Michelin recognised is an absolute shock to us, the food was incredible.

Amazing food and ambience with a perfect view across the quay. We both had Scallops with ham hock to start and the explosion of flavour was immense. It really was one of those dishes where by you don’t want it to end. A dish that was beautifully cooked and with excellent presentation. We then had half lobster and a dover sole with sides of asparagus and Fred’s spuds. The quality was second to none. I had emailed the restaurant regarding arranging a birthday cake for my Partner and they were brilliant. My partner was totally surprised when Fred himself brought it out singing Happy Birthday. A really lovely touch and made the evening complete… Thank you! A special mention to (the Manager front of house) Lisa who was really warm and welcoming.upon our arrival thoroughly attentive but, not in your face and just added to our whole culinary experience. Thank you! I can honestly say this restaurant is going to be one of our new faves. I’m so glad we chose this restaurant for my Partner’s birthday dinner, he absolutely loved it. Thank you!

This was our 4th visit and it did not disappoint,as always the food and service were excellent. If you decide to go make sure you book in advance,we’ve already booked our table for June.

The food was INSANE! Simply put, I wouldn’t hesitate to eat here again, and again, and again!!! Bravo to the whole team, you’ve got a gem of a restaurant!

This was our first visit to The Fish Market since its extensive refurbishment and what a great job they have done. Another first for us was their Chef’s Table offering. This really was excellent, five sumptuous course in addition to which we added the optional drinks pairing, some diverse choices all of which accompanied the food beautifully. All courses were fully narrated by chef Fred, and we enjoyed watching the extreme care put into each plate that left his kitchen, at the same time admiring the fun that all the staff seemed to be having, despite the pressure of delivering to the high standards they have set themselves. The Fish Market continues to offer a totally first class dining experience in every respect.

The Fish Market has had a refurbishment not just the interior, but the menu too. We booked the chefs table and the taster menu with paired drinks. You will not be disappointed. Fred, the owner and chef, works in his open kitchen, swiftly and efficiently, and when the food is delivered, he explains the dish as it’s presented and also describes the parings and why they complement each dish. A true gem of a fresh fish restaurant inLooe, it’s rare to find dishes on a menu that you can’t cook for yourself, and they set your taste buds alight. A friendly atmosphere, friendly staff and a chef who clearly loves to cook food for those who appreciate good quality food.

I don't think words can really describe the most fantastic food experience you will have if you visit The Fish Market. Every single mouthful is delicious and the chef/owner is so humble. We never miss booking this restaurant on our annual Looe visit.

In my opinion, the best food in Looe - have been several times now and never been disappointed - great atmosphere and wonderful seafood selection

Awesome fish fest. Visited for the second time and did not disappoint. Amazing, freshly sourced , freshly cooked seafood and sides that are in season. Must have ‘Fred’s Spuds’ as everyone has previously reviewed. Our favourite top ‘plaice’ to eat in Looe. Well done again, Fred and the team.

Lovely lady Emma served us. we asked how many scallops came in dish and was told x3. When the dish arrived there was just x2 scallops for £18…. 2x large prawns for £12…. Service was terribly so considering only 1 other table in. Overpriced, so sorry can’t recommend or return…

Myself and a good friend booked at table for 1pm Saturday the 21st of October. Emma welcomed me outside the restaurant and gave me two menus for me and my friend. She was a lovely happy lady and even took my large suitcase on wheels and found a place for it next to our table and also at the end of the dining experience got it and gave it back to us outside the restaurant. We both really enjoyed the meal as Fred the owner and Chef worked hard in the kitchen and produced some lovely quality food. The only let down was when we got the bill and I had added a tip to the bill because No Service is included in the final bill. But when we received the bill the turbot we had that was lovely and fresh the price was £24 and not £18 like it said on that days menu. The bill come to £68.80 that was for two drinks and we had four tapas dishes and shared them. The food was lovely but the bill was wrong….!

My mum and dad came earlier in the year and raved about the fish market. We came back to Looe with them in October and of course booked to see what the fuss was. We can confirm this has been the best meal we’ve had in Cornwall, in fact, best meal we’ve had in a really long time! Insanely good food, portions are spot on, everything is so fresh and creative. Wine was delicious, service was spot on. If you’re a keen foodie who loves fish, then this is the place for you. Would absolutely return.

Lovely greeting, shown to the seats with a view!! Left to choose drinks and food, small but exquisite menu. Chose olives, monkfish, red prawns and monkfish! Fred’s spuds as a side!
