The best fish and chips in west Cornwall We are regulars never been disappointed. The portion sizes are great and the quality of the food is exceptional. If you're on holiday in Hayle forget the tourist trap company in foundary and head for highlanes

Fabulous fresh food, served by friendly efficient staff! They are really busy and I understand why! This is worth finding!

I get fish and chips here regularly, they are always freshly made with generous portions of tasty chips and crisply battered fish. I have been getting take outs here for years and the food is still hot when I get it home. The premises are in a hut type building but are very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. Good range of options on the menu but as I am fat and old I stick to the fish and chips.

Great food , had an XL haddock and chips, lovely and crispy chips, fish had a light batter and tasted excellent, well worth a visit. Staff were friendly and great service

Just the best cod and chips I have eaten in a long time. We ordered two cod and chips, chicken burger n chips & nuggets n chips. All of us are now thoroughly stuffed. Well worth the money. Would highly recommend.

I visited St Ives during my last holiday. A friend told me: if you go to Cornwall, you have to try fish and chips. I chose this restaurant and was not disappointed. The best fish I've ever had.

Highlanes, in my opinion is by far one of the best Fish n Chips in Hayle! The batter used for the food is always really crispy, juicy and delicious and the fish is really nice! Definitely an undefeated classic. Only downsides are the food is greasy which is not a favourite for everyone, and the shop itself is usually really busy and overwhelming.

Fantastic Fish and Chips. Just finished enjoying the most satisfying fish and chips. Highlanes has got to be the best chippy around this area. We always look forward to these lovely fish and chips, it's a real treat. Service is very friendly, you won't be disappointed.

By all accounts the best fish and chips I've ever eaten by a long way. I visit Cornwall once a year to see my parents and always make a much looked forward to pilgrimage for their fish and chips. If your anywhere near Hayle this is well worth the detour. 10/10 if they haven't won awards its long overdue. Never change.

A great, proper old-skool chippy which I’d say due to it’s location is more of a locals place, but none the less great food for reasonable money. Staff seemed good, one lady in particular had a really friendly attitude and smile 😊.

Friendly staff, good portion sizes and good prices. We were staying in St Ives but didn't fancy paying £15 for a fish (without chips) down there so came to Highlands and got better food for way less. Highly recommend.

We had the best fish and chips in the area quick service with a smile too it back to the lodge and the fish is was beautiful as per photo shown. Great food down to the last bite. I would recommend this to everyone, parking is right out side and plenty

The chips were dry on one side and then on the other side were so greasy and the sausage was about 2 maybe 3 inches they need to stop being skint.

Well... I found this place on Google maps and went there feeling slightly skeptical thinking it can't be THAT good. We ordered standard fish and small chips as meals for the two of us and we received generous portions. More than enough chips each and the size of the fish was amazing. Tender and flaky fish with a lovely light batter. The chips, for me, we're slightly too crispy BUT my boyfriend loves crispy chips so he ate the lot (I like soggy chips lol) but that doesn't mean they were not tasty I still ate most of them 😋 Plenty parking outside but I would imagine in season and peak times would be chaotic but there is street parking if need be. Definitely 10000% recommend this place and it will be our go-to when we visit Hayle again. In fact.....I'd maybe drive the 300 miles specifically for Highlanes fish and chips.

Absolutely love Highlanes. We are Saturday regulars even though we live 10 miles away. It’s so worth the trip. Staff are great and the food is always fantastic! Great portion sizes as well. Highly recommended!

Three of us were staying in Hayle and chose this place to get our fish n chips. We were not disappointed ! Beautiful freshly cooked plaice and haddock and mountains of chips. Great mushy peas too. Could not have been better with lovely friendly staff too. Excellent !!!

We came on holiday and called in for Fish and chips. All in all 10/10 and we'll worth the visit. Give it a try if you fancy some good honest food.

Came here based on reviews - I’m glad I did fantastic fresh cod and chips quite a few locals picking up orders here and I see why. Friendly people and great portions the large chips were HUGE. This will be a stop every time we come to Hayle in the future.

You will not stumble across this place but it is well worth a specific trip as I made from a local campsite. It was busy on a Saturday night (as a good place should be!) so there was a little wait, but it was worth it for one of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had - the chips were hands down THE BEST. Lovely service from the ladies behind the counter and I thought it was also very good value.

Went in on a sat night ordered fish and chips …. Sat in my car and had my food .. food was lovely! But my god the lady’s in there need to paint a smile on their faces ..

Found this place from Tripadvisor reviews. Off the beaten track in amongst a little housing estate. Full of locals. Got fish bites and chips for the kids and fish and chips for us - huge portions, well done crispy chips and beautiful fish. Would whole heartedly recommend, reasonably priced considering the portion size too. Very efficient staff, thank you!

Simply put the best fish and chips I've ever eaten by a long way. Just perfection and not over priced considering the quality. I only get to visit once a year when I'm down south visiting family and its always consistently delicious and something I look forward to. If you're in the area it's worth driving to for sure.

Omg definitely worth a 10/10, staf polite and friendly, I had cod bites and chips wow bloody delicious, didn't taste greasy or leave a greasy feel in my mouth. Would definitely go there again

The best fish and chips for miles around! Brilliant service from a hard working team behind the counter. All praise to the staff, as due to the quality of the food and service it’s always super busy in there, and they always have a smile on and are polite and helpful. Excellent fish & chips, definitely the best in Hayle. Fish freshly cooked, lovely crunchy batter, chips hot, crisp & golden, fluffy in the middle. Huge portion of chips. We had two portions between three, still far too much so sadly done were wasted.

When on holiday in Hayle we always visit this lovely fish shop. This evening we collected XL Haddock chips & curry sauce. The food was outstanding. Staff are really friendly. Food is well wrapped & in a large bag which keeps it nice and hot. Highly recommended.

I wrote a review in may 2021 about the size of the standard cod getting smaller over the years. We haven’t had Highlanes fish and chips since then but thought we would try them again last week. Wow, surely they can’t get much smaller. Quality was good but size of the standard cod was even more disappointing than back in May 2021. That’s it now, plenty of other fish and chip shops in and around Hayle. Good bye Highlanes.🙁

Until today, my relation with the batter cod was pretty cold and battered. But it was until today, as the discovery of this place changed my mind about the godly plaice. And surprisingly the chips were also perfectly crispy and melting in the mouth. This is I believe as good as a take away fish and chips can get! Even a cat was waiting for his turn!

Had small fish and chips x2 and a pie and chips. The small fish was small and the pie was microwaved!! On returning home the pastry on the pie was rock hard!! The fish and chips were very nice!

I'd gone off fish and chips as often the experience disappointed versus the expectation. Not with Highlands though. Consistently some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. Always cooked fresh and huge portions. Just excellent.

Fish n chips are lovely here. There is always a long wait for food as they are always busy so be prepared on a weekend to be waiting 30 minutes or more. Upshot though, it's worth the wait 😊

Solid little fish & chips. Prices are pretty standard. They could do with better packaging to stop the batter sticking to the paper and making it soggy, but on the whole it’s slightly better than average, sadly no where near 4.9 though

My family and I have been going to highlanes fish and chips since I was in nappies. They have always had the most kindest and efficient staff too. As well as the best prices too! We will travel half an hour just to get our fish and chips as no where compares! Highly recommend to anyone.

Just a quick stop off for some chips and curry.... the chips were fantastic, perfectly cooked with the right amount of crunch. I'm gutted I didn't get a fish bet they're top drawer!

Visited this takeaway for the first time as it was near our holiday accommodation and we wanted a meal in a hurry. Fortunately, got there just before they closed but, even so, the cod was the best we had had in some time - lovely...

Amazing dinner for the family tonight from Highlanes. The fish is delicious, batter very tasty and the chips are cooked perfectly. My wife had scampi which she said was the best she’s had! 100% will return when back on holiday down here again next year!

Portion sizes were great and one order of fries Is enough for three people. Make sure you get napkins! Take away only, limited parking

Beautiful food as always! Freshly cooked, hot and tasty!

A very rude lady at the front. I never have left a review on anything but I have to with this service. Lady was even rude to the lady in front of me and made a nasty comment about her. Food was not good, burger was horrible and basically got told where to go when I asked for real cheese. To top it of had to pay 20p for a paper bag. Would never go again.
