Disappointing service. We ordered everything included in the meal deal, but because we didn’t specifically ask for the meal deal, we were told that we would have to pay extra for drinks that would’ve been included in the meal deal price. Disappointing behaviour and service.

Good clean chips. Hot and crispy fish. Fair size portion for the money. Will be going again when nearby.

Best F and C in that area for sure. And scraps!!! I dont know if they cook them in beef dripping or not but they outshine many others nearby. Sit outside on the seats in the High Street.

My wife asked for fishcake and a fish wrapped separately had to say it twice and it still came wrapped together the server was in a world of her own, Fish nice but the fishcake was over cooked tasted a bit burnt.

I went to get a chip barm and I wish I didn't now the chips were very hard for my liking. How can chips be so hard and you're a chippy.

Loved the ladies who cooked & served the fish & chips, mushy peas curry sauce absolutely scrummy, my son said the sausages are lovely too. Just wish they'd open later.

Update on previous experience....chips lovely....scallops better (but small)service a lot better.BUT still pricey.Ive had scallops twice as big (Kev's in Stanley)and nearly half the price.Fish bar you need to up your game on the prices and either lower them or people will go elsewhere for their value for money.Your food is nice but too pricey which is a shame.

Fish dry very expensive £16.30 for 2 fish one bag of chips and 2 breadcakes asked for a bag told it would cost 15pence. Far too expensive

Best fish shop in Rothwell. Very helpful and polite staff. On fine weather days there are benches opposite to enjoy the sunshine and the food. This is an update on this place. I visited again today and I'm very pleased to say that the service & the food is still as good as ever. The fish in particular was exceptional. I did ask what type it was & told that it was Haddock. Very pleased with this. Apparently they only have a different fish when it is not available. If you have not been there yet then you should go and try it you won't be disappointed & you probably won't bother with other fish shops.

Car crash Level service where you walk out questioning why you went in there - need to train staff to repeat order, qualify they have the right order and LISTEN. Clear staff had little product knowledge and definitely not what you’d look for in a good standing fish and chip shop. **edited** Should note that the representative from the company chose to identify a staff member I didn’t. Having assessed chip shops nationwide for national competitions my comments are based on the whole experience and reflected the failure of management to correctly train and support Jnr staff. However, shop operations as a whole were weak, presentation of food does not meet industry good practice, provenance of suppliers were not on display.

Expensive compared to other local fish and chip shops and really poor quality fish….dry and not meaty flakes. We threw most of the fish away.

Went in tonight as we were passing through rothwell. I'm not one to try new places as I'm kinda fussy with how my foods cooked, but omg, Nicole cooked my fish to perfection. Great portion sizes, not bad price. I'll definitely be back

Lovely fish and (plenty of) chips. Service was very friendly. Not greasy as some can be and perfectly cooked chips even so that I could have them warmed up next day with the traditional curry sauce.

Called in for a fish butty, staff were friendly and the fish was lovely, light, crispy batter and flakey fish 😋

An unpleasant experience today regarding very rude staff. The woman serving me didn’t smile once, i asked if I could have a carrier bag & was expected to pay the 10p on card.. all for a flimsy carrier bag that’s not worth a penny! I then asked to put my own sauce on my food and she rudely said no due to covid as she didn’t want me touching the bottle.. yet I had accepted food trays touched by staff that were not wearing gloves! So I was forced to pay 95p to buy sachets instead. My 6 year old son even commented on how ‘mean’ the staff were. Read the other reviews about the staff, it seems it’s a common problem with this place & I suspect the reason for such a low customer satisfaction rating. Awful place, There’s a much nicer chippy on the same road a bit further down, I would recommend going there instead, the staff and food are much nicer (Please see snotty reply from owner as expected.. she seems to do this to most customers that dare leave a negative review)

This is the worst fish I have had in a long time, completely dried out as if its been sitting all afternoon and not cheap either. Why not give the customer freshly cooked fish? The chips were average and parsley cakes were freshly cooked.

Fish was a waste of money all batter and no fish. Kid's loved there curry and chips

This is probably the best fish shop in the Rothwell area. The staff are very friendly and helpful & the price is very reasonable. There are some benches opposite & on fine weather days it is a great place to sit and eat there.

After reading many excellent reviews of this shop I decided to try it myself ..The shop looks very clean and tidy and the staff warm and friendly .. I had a cod and chips and found them to be very very tasty and well worth the cost ...The lady in charge , called Jill , was happy to answer one or two questions I had and I don't think she could have been more helpful if she tried ...A previous review by another called Spookster95 was in my opinion written by someone who probably had never been in the shop and / or had a grudge ...I would encourage anyone looking for a good value tasty meal served in pleasant surroundings to try this shop .

I went in on a dinner break and it was empty and nobody on the counter but I could here a very abrupt voice and raised with swearing included, I was then met by a women with short white hair who Identified as gill, she asked my what I wanted in the same abrupt voice I had heard as I walked in. Another employee came from round the back who had dark brown hair and looked to have been crying, and started putting fish into the fryer, I ordered fish and chips with curry sauce. Upon waiting for my food, the lady with white short short hair checked the chips level and to my disbelief shouted at her and swore at her in front of me, she then proceeded to check the register ( till) and speak to me and say that she is sorry but some staff don't earn the worth, I uncomfortably nodded and waited for my food, I noticed the other employee look exhausted and a bit panicked, I felt really bad for her, the food wasn't very nice as in the fish was dry, the chips were fine and they only offered Chinese curry sauce, I won't be eating from there again based on who I believe was the owner treated her staff member that day.

Tried here the other week due to the great reviews. Great friendly service and amazing Fish and Chips. will be back again soon.

ive had 2 fish buttys from here whilst working on the new vets nearby excellent fish always a good sign when the fish is bigger than the teacake golden batter and pure white flakes of fish ,with a lovely crunch , and really good service plus no greasy aftertaste another to my my list of good chippys overall stunning and great staff

Fish wasn’t cooked great was very watery,chips was rock hard and the fish cake couldn’t even cut the bloody thing my first and last time trying this place avoid if you want to be robbed of your money

My 38 years on this planet and I've never had such poor quality fish n chips! The fish was 90% oil and 2% fish and 8% batter.. as for the chips it was like eating shards of oil filled glass and trying to swallow the ones I had in my mouth without being impaled was hard work, the curry was 2% curry and 98% water from an old radiator. Now the bread cake I'm going to keep and use as a weapon if anyone tries to break into my house as that thing is solid! Reminds me of the disk that the predator throws at Danny Glover in predator 2 movie. £26.00 was very steep for the quality that is given and the service that was provided and I won't be going hear again ever.

Very dissapointed!! Ordered fish and chips x2 and small fish and chips x2 when i got them home and opened them i couldnt tell the difference between them all. The chips were literally potato skins filled with oil !! The staff looked miserable like they hated their job, but to be fair i can imagine they deal with alot of complaints. Curry sauce had zero taste/flavour. And it was more a case of hide and seek finding chips underneath the mountain of scraps. Will not be going here again !!!

Had fish and chips last Friday and they were horrible. Chips over cooked and all bits, felt like they had been refried from the day before. They also had a nasty stale oil after taste. Fish wasn’t great either so will not be returning.

Never got to eat them staff ignored us served others before us we walked away

Got fish and chips from here today and they were the worse fish and chips I have ever had. the fish was dry as old sticks and the chips were too well done. Rubbish

The best fish &chip shop in Rothwell, staff are pleasant, the food is excellent, not greasy and you get plenty, very clean establishment, have used for many many years and can honestly say never had fault with them

I came in yesterday for my lunch and a lady called Dawn served me and was very rude her customer service skills where horrendous she also put silly amounts of salt on my friends dinner... we come in most days and all other members of staff r very polite and go above and beyond

One of the best (if not THE best) around Leeds, totally recommended. Very tasty, never had any issues, very friendly.

Just enjoyed a portion of chips with scraps, salt and vinegar. Chips were outstanding.

I live within walking distance of a chippy but i still take the short drive into Rothwell for fish and chips. I like the staff too.

ive used this Chip shop for years and so have the members of my team, The staff are always happy and engaging and I've never had one complaint about their food neither has anyone in our office. A local chip shop, with great staff and we will always keep going back.

Great fish and chips as usual, served by lovely people. Tried a battered cream egg, it was so wrong but so right!!! Would recommend if you have a sweet tooth!

Dried up chips . Awful. Not normally like this. But you must make sure you get your timing right if you dont want chips like that.

Fish are very small doesn't match the price, chips are good, but in future I will travel to Drakes or Wakefield rd

I have been coming here for years. I have never had any problems the food is always good.Has the previous reviewer got the right fish Bar as I noticed they were from Wales, and I can't believe it could be this Fish Bar in Rothwell Leeds.

This is first and only fish shop I've found that does Gluten free fish and chips. My daughter is very gluten intolerant and the lady fryer did know what she was doing. My daughter was able to have Fish and Chips for the first time...

I visit the Fish Bar on a weekly basis to purchase pet food for my cats. When I decide to treat myself to a fish I always really enjoy it. The staff are really friendly as well.
