We visited on a Saturday night and enjoyed a pleasant meal—until the bill arrived. The restaurant offers a weekend set menu with 2-course (£25) and 3-course (£30) options, which should work alongside the regular menu. However, their system failed to apply the set menu pricing, instead charging higher individual prices (some not even listed on the menu). Our situation was slightly complex due to a "for two persons sharing" starter on the set menu, which led to two possible pricing options: 1. Three £25 set menus (£75*) 2. Two £25 set menus and one £30 set menu (£80*) To avoid confusion, I clarified with the waiter before ordering that we would be charged option 1. However, the bill reflected neither—it instead overcharged us using inflated à la carte prices. For instance, I was charged £38 for my starter and main instead of the £25 (or £30 under option 2). This meant the bill was 3. Two £25 set menus and £38 (£88*) When I raised the issue, the manager was completely unequipped to handle it. She struggled to grasp the problem, scribbled random numbers with a dry pen for several minutes, and ultimately declared, “It is £44*” without being able to explain why. At one point, she incorrectly claimed the bill reflected option 2, despite the clear overcharge. Even after explaining that I had confirmed option 1 with the waiter, she insisted on making me pay for their mistake. In the end, she removed an item from the bill but sarcastically said, “You’re welcome” as I left—after making my wife and kids wait in the car while she fumbled through basic math. I would have been fine paying the agreed amount. I would have even accepted option 2 pricing. But being overcharged and then dealing with incompetence and condescension left a very bad impression. *for brevity, I removed decimals and also removed the non set menu items from our bill.

This was our first family visit, and we thoroughly enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast. The food was absolutely delicious, with perfectly sized portions for both adults and children, served by a warm and welcoming team. The pub itself is full of charm, featuring wooden beams, a cozy roaring fire, and an extensive menu that has us excited to try more dishes in the future. Thank you for a wonderful experience—we’re already looking forward to our next visit!

We were served by Amanda and couldn't fault her at all. Given we were a large group with multiple children, Amanda was patient, friendly and kind with everyone! Would highly recommend!

Pleasantly surprised. Our first time back to the Firecrest in a while. Lovely staff. Good menu. Something for everyone in our party of vegetarians and coeliacs. GF fish and chips was a real treat (a smidge greasy but still delicious). Beautiful building. Open fires are so relaxing. Close to Wendover. Good parking. Really pleased - will be back! It was a booking for my moms 70th birthday, a small group of 4, but it was absolutely perfect! The meals were incredible, the staff were so helpful and lovely! All in all the visit was wonderful! Thank you. Our waitress went above and beyond and I was so appreciative!

Sat next to a decent log fire on a soft seat eating some very nice sea bass with good company on a birthday treat - what's not to like.

First time visit and from the moment we entered we was made to feel welcome as though we had been a thousand times The food was absolutely amazing and chef came out to ask how it was and it nice to see people who cared about their work and the customers view. We shall definitely return

We celebrated my mums 80th with a family (12 of us) birthday meal. We were seated in our own room and experienced great food and great service. Amanda was particularly helpful, helping me with lots at queries such as decorating the room and presenting a slideshow of old photographs, if she did get fed up of me she certainly didn’t show it! Very highly recommended, we’re going back for Boxing Day with the family 😀 Another fantastic meal! The 12 of us returned for Boxing Day along with Bo, my brother’s golden retriever. Amazing service again with Bo being offered snacks and a water bowl. Amanda greeted us fondly and ensured that everything was as it should be. Can’t wait for the next family celebration which will definitely be held at the Firecrest, can’t recommend highly enough.

Lovely staff, foods exquisite. We eat here often and the roasts are really nice. Would recommend for sure.

Great menu choices and good value

I moved to Australia 18 years ago and used to visit The Firecrest with my Mum and Nan regularly prior to emigrating. Such fond memories which were brought back today. Still a beautiful location with wonderful food and service.

Rhys was a fantastic waiter. Lovely bloke who knows his stuff. Food was delicious, compliments to Chris and the rest of the kitchen team!

We had the loveliest Christmas Day three course dinner at the Firecrest. There were 11 of us over two tables & we had a little nook to ourselves. Every course was delicious, the pub itself is beautiful & the staff were friendly. Would highly recommend it.

Visited the fire crest pub London Road Wendover tonight on the way home from Christmas shopping lovely food signature burger and beef and venison pie which my partner and i thoroughly enjoyed also had the fire going which made the evening more cosy would highly recommend a visit😊

Went here for a Christmas meal on the 19th December and was bitterly disappointed. The food was either bland or burnt to the point of not being able to taste of anything but burnt food. Was quite gutted as had been recommended this place by several friends.

Utterly gorgeous meal, service and setting. Amanda served us, she was welcoming, warm and friendly. We were sat by the fire and the Christmas music was a lovely addition. Anyone coming for Christmas will have an enjoyable time, Merry Christmas!

The place has a good atmosphere. The food is fairly good. What let's it down is the service, which often takes a while.

Had such a beautiful evening here tonight! 8 of us went for our christmas get together. Service Everyone that we spoke to were wonderful. From how friendly Amanda was on the phone to how lovely and attentive Ella was! Food Absolutely incredible, we had a mixture of the christmas and normal menu, everyone loved all 3 courses. The schnitzel was the best! Overall We were all in agreement by the end of the night that we would highly recommend the place and would come back again in a heartbeat! Thank you to all the staff for making our evening as wonderful as it was!

So much characted and fabulous service! My family and I recently visited The Firecrest in Wendover for a family Sunday lunch, and we were absolutely delighted with the experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional - attentive, friendly and genuinely warm. We felt so well looked after, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. My kids felt very special indeed and my daughter drew pictures to leave with the lovely ladies who looked after us so well. The Sunday lunch was a hit with the entire family. Each dish was beautifully presented, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The atmosphere was welcoming with an excellent service and fantastic food. We’ll definitely be back soon!

A nice pub in a nice location and despite being near a busy road there was very little road noise audible inside the pub. Runs a traditional Sunday roast menu alongside an a la carte menu. Allergen info and choices are all on a tablet which is not user friendly and we did not trust it. 4 of us opted for Sunday roast with Beef, Pork Belly and Lamb. The GF diner ate fish, which ended up being luke warm and a bit overdone. Roasts were well cooked and tasty but roasted potatoes had gone a bit soggy and veg were a bit tasteless. Puddings were nice and there is a half portion and hot drink option, which is a great idea. Service was good when the more experienced members of the team attended the table. It took us 30 minutes to get drinks and 45 to get food! We'll give the Firecrest another try on a weekday when it is not so busy.

Service from Amanda was excellent and food was lovely.

Sunday lunch was always a great experience. For a party of eight On this occasion food came out so quickly. Not piping hot as in the past. The beef was dry, not tender as in the past. One of the pies was not great either. The turkey? The carrots/ turnips could have been prepared better. Not up to the usual standards that’s for sure. The restaurant was not even full.

We had a great evening tonight at The Firecrest! Zoe was a lovely server who really looked after us! The food was amazing, I had the Pie of the Day which was delicious and my husband had the lamb shank, equally delicious! Desserts were fresh and really well presented and then we capped it all with an amaretto by the fireplace! Lovely team, great atmosphere, can’t wait to go back!

Went for Sunday lunch with friends. Had cold vegetables, hardly any meat and presentation was dreadful. Been very satisfied in the past, so was surprised it did not meet expectations. Like to add photo to show but no where to do this.

Loved the pub, food was great, my dog was well treated, five stars indeed!

The steak pie wasn't great. Only 2 pieces of meat and they were very fatty. A shame. £50 for 2 mains and 2 drinks and we didn't really enjoy any of it.

Met my friend here for a meal they were very accommodating - and we had a great time. They got our table ready and had a dog bed ready for my mates dog.

The Firecrest is an absolutely amazing pub had Sunday lunch here with the family and the food was absolutely amazing. The service was flawless and the barman was such a kind young lad.

Just called in very hungry at 7pm on Sunday wondering if they were still serving food. Greeted with a very warm welcome and told unfortunately sold out of Sunday Roasts but had plenty of everything else. A delicious steak pie and fish n chips were brought to our table within minutes. Great tasting food and sensible pricing. Well done, we will be back soon.

Great food as always, lovely friendly team

We love the Firecrest and the lady who served us is fantastic. My children were a bit restless whilst waiting for their lunch and she helped greatly by handing my youngest a colouring book to keep him occupied. The service is so friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back again!

The food was delicious and our servers were very polite and friendly. However, despite the fact that we had a voucher for 33% off mains, the restaurant was unable to process it because of problems with the app and also could not offer to just deduct the money from our bill as a gesture of good faith. This is a shame as the eatery itself is good. Perhaps such vouchers should not be offered in future if it is so hard to use them.

Fantastic food, brilliant service, and reasonably priced 10/10

Not our first time, but everything 5 star as usual. Of all the pubs we eat at, this one is constantly the best and always very good. Our waitress Helen was great. HS2 is impacting on their trade.

We had a table for 6 people on a Sunday. Menu was great for all. Small and children’s options available. Staff are very friendly and happy to help. Food was very nice, roast was great and good quality burgers too. Prawn and chorizo starter was a favourite. Good selection of desserts too!

The choice on the menu was brilliant, loads to chose from and a variety of dishes. There was about 10 of us and we all had different dishes, we all finished everything even taking some of it home. I had the spicy pizza and it definitely lived up to its name. The serve seemed quite nervous but he was so lovely. The atmosphere was brilliant and the staff were incredibly nice.
