The Fire Station Cafe in Medway

I’ve wanted to dine here since it’s opened, never got round to it, then covid. So I was really looking forward to visiting the Fire Station. I was very disappointed. I’m all about live music. The singer was mediocre, but the volume was ridiculously uncomfortable. Twice we asked for it to be turned down, it was for one song then went back up again, it was impossible to have a conversation, which for me is the reason for going out with friends. We felt incredibly uncomfortable. The food was mediocre, disappointed with Eton Mess had one strawberry that had been cut in to tiny slices, 4 broken pieces of meringue, a dollop of cream and a drizzle of raspberry compote. Ridiculously expensive for what it is, for 2 people, 2 course meal, 3 alcoholic drinks came to £80, the only positive was the service was ok although she was having to shout. I’m really sad to say I won’t waste my money there again, the Medway Towns desperate need quality venues, this isn’t it.

We were booked in for our wedding anniversary this evening but Lockdown put the kybosh on that. So we decided to have the meal anyway using “click & collect” The 3 course meal was superb and we got a free bottle of wine into the bargain. Our thanks to Kieran and Callum in the kitchen - fantastic flavours guys - and Becks and Ellie for the lovely collection service. Starters: poached pears and walnut; seared prawns and chorizo Mains: pork belly; beef raging Desserts: baked Alaska; chocolate tart Couldn’t be faulted!!!

Great addition to Chatham. Living just round the corner, I visit The Fire Station cafe regularly sine its opening. Often my son and I pop in for breakfast and sometimes I have dinner there with friends. It has improved enormously from the beginning and in my opinion it is clearly managed by people with clear vision and who are ready to adapt, make changes and improve. The food and service has always been great. I wish you all the best and may you continue to thrive

Third time here and love the relaxed atmosphere, menu and cocktails. Staff are very nice too. We shared some small plates which were all really tasty. Good cocktails and a good flat white coffee.

Office visit for breakfast, decor and service are good but the full English breakfast (£8.50) was probably ok yesterday when it was cooked, “fried” egg most likely done in an oven to form a hard skin on the yolk, sausage barely warmed through and the bacon needed another day or two on the radiator. Tepid tea in a pot for £3.30, Maybe an off day but i rather eat “cave chicken” soup from Wuhan than go back.

Visited recently very disappointed by the standard and speed of service. The quality of ingredients left alot to be desired half of the bread served was stale.

Had breakfast with partner and 2 kids. Food’s very good but at the price you are charged toast should not be an additional cost! Seriously, the service was ok but I spent 60 on breakfast and drinks - kids are 5 and 7, the menu and portion sizes should reflect that. Liked my visit, it just needs a bit more refining for me to rave about this place.

Was taken here by friends who were raving about this place, and they were not wrong. Warm and friendly greeting from the doorman, made to feel very welcome. Shown direct to out booth. Drink order arrived quickly. Tapas style dishes, so plentiful and tasty, I would highly recommend eating here. Also two solo artists played in the evening,, gives the place a great atmosphere!

Very nice place compare to others in the area. You just have to try mocha if you will be visiting this place! Staff seemed quite young and unexperienced but very friendly and helpful

I went here with a large (staff were aware). We were there a total of 2 hours, service was awful. From the first person to receive their food to the last was almost an hour. We only ordered sandwiches. The bread was rock hard and the chicken taste reheated. We ordered parmasan fries and were not told there was no cheese until they came out. We paid 17 poundish for poor quality stale sandwich, incorrect sides and a drink. It is a real shame as the place has the potential to be really good. It has clearly been invested in for the decoration. Someone needs to invest in the staff with training or more staff.

My second visit to this gem of a place. The food is wonderfully different and very tasty, the ambiance lively and welcoming and with live music, what’s not to like? But what is overwhelmingly obvious is the aim to please. All staff were extremely polite, happy and attentive and they couldn’t do enough for us, including being genuinely interested in feedback on the delicious food. Thank you all. The place looks amazing definitely coming back to try dinner!! My full English was really tasty. A little cold but ok. Will let them off as not bee open super long. We had the boy with us he will just about eat a full portion but there where no options to half it for a 3year old. Overall like it will be back to try the evening 🌙 hoping this place will stay and be a hot spot needed in the town.

Dirty wine glasses on the table, water glasses not dried, had to open my own bottle of wine! Ordered « grilled chicken «  bagel. Took 5 min from ordering to the table. Chicken not grilled, tasteless and no Dijon mustard in the mayonnaise. Ask for fries and ketchup, the glass jar was broken!. Took ages for plates to be cleared, no desert no coffee offered as an after. Nobody came to check our table during the meal. 3 waiters for max of 5 tables at the time. Very disappointing.

All three of the menus looked very interesting so I was looking forward to sampling the lunch menu. It’s a lot more spacious and open than I thought it was going to be and the furnishings and finishing touches were very good. The coffee - which promised to be good - was delicious. I was impressed by the extensive cocktail menu. I opted for two small plates and a side salad. The food was well-presented and fresh. The service was very good. Only let down was the sauces which are served in tiny mason jars; it seems as tough someone had already had a go at sticking something inside the mayonnaise - hopefully a teaspoon but possibly a chip - and the same pot of sauce reused. Also the sugar which came with the coffee was served on a tiny plate with no more than three teaspoon-fulls on it. Had a word with the waitress about the pitfalls of both and she agreed it was rather counterproductive although reassured us that the mason jars are cleaned before being refilled. Just the fact that it looked as though the mayonnaise had already has something dipped in it seemed unsanitary to me. Apart from that, really looking forward to returning and trying out the breakfast and lunch menus in the near future.

We went in here the other dayfor lunch, it was very nice we had a bloomer sandwich . The food was good , but they made a mistake on the order, there were 2 of us , but they only brought 1 sandwich , they were very sorry, so i waited for the other sandwich . The place has been done out very nicely inside, the toilets were nice and clean , but felt a little let down with the service .
