The Finnieston in Glasgow City

Gorgeous little nautical themed pub with a surprising menu! The variety, flavors, and finishing were all top notch. Very much worth a stop in.

In general, it is a very expensive shop with a mediocre atmosphere. Small variety of wines and selection of dishes. All the main dishes we got were mixed in flavors as a result you lose the taste of the fish. 4 people with a bottle of wine £275.

Excellent service and atmosphere

Fresh and exquisite seafood! The stars of the night were the scallops, 18£ market price. I have never seen scallops this big, and they tasted velvety! Every part of the dish was perfect. The monkfish tail was accompanied by a zesty broth, packed with flavor. I recommend it for an entree! The salt and pepper squid was also tasty, but I expected it to have more of a ‘kick’ to it. I would have loved more spices on it! The squid was still nicely cooked, and not chewy at all. Overall, I recommend this place for some fresh seafood, but bear in mind you get what you pay for so it is pricey.

Top food! Loved the battered fish and oysters plus solid cuts if chips 👌 the wine was also paired perfectly (not just biased with the awesome Aussie riesling). Also many extra points to Ailish for being the perfect server, she was was the cherry on top of the perfect evening.

Very warm place. We were lucky to be placed near the fireplace so as not to spoil anything. The cold seafood platter was succulent and the service was top notch. A little extra for the low alcohol cocktail suggestions, I thought it was great!

If you are in the West End, you have to go here! We were greeted and served by a lovely server! They were super helpful, filling us in on the menu! The food was sublime. We got the scallops, fried squid and oysters for starters. For main, we got the Haddock and the Mussels. Everything was super tasty and of such good quality! To top it off, they had the fire on! Which created the perfect atmosphere for a cold November night.

Lovely service and a great selection of cocktails

Excellent fish and chips and the most yummy desert (gooey chocolate fondant). Great coffee. Sometimes the service wasn't 100% but we weren't in a hurry so it didn't matter, although I do hate my coffee coming way before desert and food being served then the waitress disappearing for condiments. Not great choice of alcohol free but was ok. We will go back because the food, atmosphere and location are all really good.

We were gifted a voucher for The Finnieston and we were not disappointed. The venue had a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and were delighted when staff seated us next to an open fire...fabulous. The food looked like it was cooked with love, tasted delicious and served by warm and engaging staff. Top notch night out. Well done and many thanks "The Finnieston".

Food and drinks were excellent. We went twice. Liked it so much we made a reservation for our final night in Glasgow. Would recommend.

Delightful place to have some nice relaxing Saturday afternoon drinks. Made a family occasion very special indeed, will be back for some food in the not-too-distant.

Cracking venue. Oozing warmth as per photo (6pm on a wet Tuesday evening). Great service, an EXCELLENT Old Fashioned with a twist (Jaffa cakes). The seafood snacks and menu looked ace. Lovely gaff.

The Cuba Libre we ordered is not really a Cuba Libre. As you can see in the pictures, a large, solid block of ice is put into the drink which fills almost the entire glass. If the drink didn't also cost £12. This is a rip-off. Reply to the owner: Write something about a signature cocktail and list it on the menu as a normal cocktail. Yes, of course. Still doesn't change the fact that this "Cuba Libre" is empty in two or three draughts. For that £12 is and remains a rip-off. In other restaurants, a Cuba Libre doesn't run out so quickly.

service amazing as always, any time any friends ask for recommendations this is always my first suggestion. Ailish loooed after us and was extremely helpful and lovely to chat with. highly recommend! restaurant and staff are brilliant.

The setting is cosy and the staff were very friendly and attentive. We visited for a celebration dinner a few weeks ago and unfortunately got unwell almost immediately after the meal. I appreciate this can happen sometimes with shellfish but was obviously disappointing. Overall the food was good but felt quite overpriced. The dessert was the highlight, the hot shellfish platter for 2 (which I suspect made us sick) was quite chewy. I called to let the restaurant know after we were unwell but didn’t hear anything back. Probably wouldn’t rush back, I think there are other nicer seafood restaurants nearby but I am glad I visited once.

We had a great visit for dinner for our anniversary.The staff are fantastic. The seafood is fresh and cooked to perfection. As you can see, Archie our Westie was made very welcome but did not drink the pawsecco.

Excellent selection of drinks and a nice vibe. The "Curry Colada" and "Jaffa Cake Old Fashioned" were great.

Fish and chips- soggy and spongy. Other items lacked flavor or flavors didn’t meld well. Nice server tho.

Nice bar, service from staff needs to improved, girl with head scarf as we left bar approached my husband and I, infront of full street questioned if Bill had been paid.... this was paid on service(by another member of staff) When entering bar/establishment straight away felt confronted rather than greeted. Will not be back but does seem a nice bar other than 1 staff member

A very pleasant pub just a fairly short walk along sauchiehall street away from the city.

Love this bar for a drink and go a great deal but was astonished to see a number of tourists coming from the Troon open being refused food even when they were ok to sit at the bar! We had drinks no problem for well over an hour. If I was the owner I would have been in tears probably seen at least £200 walk out the door, Scottish hospitality at its worryingly worst

On the expensive side though not so much for fish and chips. Fish perfectly cooked. Good chips. Portion of peas on the small side and (being a heathen 🤣) it's not right to offer "mushy". Staff/ Service all good.

Absolutely delicious brown-butter sea bass with frites, elegant flavorful food in warm surroundings, and kind, thoughtful staff. Reasonably priced.

Visited here in 2017 but never reviewed it. The atmosphere here is a vibe. Dimly lit with cool ocean art all over the place. The food was super fresh and delicious. Tried my first Scottish prawn looked like a baby lobster. Little too much work for the little amount of meat but still gotta try it. The star here were the cockels. Little clams I've only been able to find them in Scotland. So damn good they are additive. If you're going to Finneston on a date this is where you need to go.

Fantastic meal for a group of 12 for my daughter’s graduation. Staff were excellent food was really good. Spent some time in the garden that we didn’t know was there. Really good we will be back for sure.

Went in for a couple of drinks with my wife the service was outstanding as were the drinks I now wished we'd stayed for food as the aroma from the kitchen was mouth watering we'll be back

Beautiful pub, excellent service, prices are higher than the average but that's more than justified by the excellent quality of the food and selection of wines and spirit, highly recommended if looking for a local fancy food experience.

Nice wee hidden beer garden out the back

I posted on here earlier but did so by mistake. We didn't eat here, we only had a couple of drinks. The service was excellent and the waitress was very helpful and friendly. The premises are lovely and we really enjoyed sitting outside in their beer garden. I apologise for any confusion I caused with my original post

I highly recommend the back patio area, especially on a warm spring day. The patio doesn't take reservations, but we called ahead and they were very helpful. The food is locally sourced Scottish seafood. We had scallops, langoustines, mussels, cod cheeks on risotto, and steak frites. All of the food was perfectly cooked. Its also well known for its martinis and tasty cocktails; they pair well with sun and seafood. The portions are on the smaller side, so expect you might need multiple seafood dishes to make a full meal, and the prices are on the higher side. Worth it for a special occasion, especially when the sun is shining.

My little boy and I were here at the weekend. Great food and service.

Great place for a quiet dinner! We had the oysters and the fried haddock and chips. The oysters were delicious!The food was excellent, the batter was soft yet crunchy and the fish was brilliantly cooked! The portion was large!

My husband and I went out for dinner back in February (got a voucher from Itison) and the food was alright, very overpriced for the quality you get, in my honest opinion. What we were shocked about, however, was the mouse rooming freely near the fireplace. We told the waitress about it, who said that they have measurements put in place (clearly not working) and we paid the full price for the food and drinks. We did feel queasy after, as we weren't expecting to see a mouse. I emailed the general manager the morning after to inform her about the situation. Unfortunately, shortly after my husband got a serious food poisoning, which left him unable to work for two days. I, yet again, emailed the GM, got a full refund and an apology. I think the matter was handled well and professionally by her ( thinking back, the waitress should have dealt with this on the day). I'm just surprised that a place like this can still be fully operational when they have mice and people get food poisoning? Anyway, I strongly recommend to avoid. Food is not worth it and risking food poisoning isn't either.

Fantastic, good is first class. The special was pork belly and sea bream (a take on surf and turf I suspect) which was absolutely delicious, mixed with spices that made the mouth tingle. Chef certainly knows how to put a dish together. If I knew when this is back on the menu I'd be rushing back. Service was on point, not over eager but just right. We'll be back - just hope they have the pork belly and sea bream special on!!!!

We had an amazing lunch. I had the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Seriously. Huge portion of fish perfectly fried. Nice crunchy but light batter. The chips were amazing. My wife had a selection of their starters and all were excellent.

Had a wonderful birthday meal. First time trying lobster, and loved it. Oysters were perfect too. Lovely staff and cosy atmosphere.

The Sage and Wild cocktail is the best cocktail I have ever had as a former bartender from the U.S. It has gin, sage simple syrup, and a lime and winter berry foam. I may have ordered it 3X. 😬🥹 I highly recommend this cocktail bar!

We were only here for a few drinks after dinner close by. My companion craved an old fashioned bourbon style and I wasn't quite sure what I wanted from the cocktail menu but quite fancied something Amaretto based. Our server gleefully took up the challenge and did not disappoint, our drinks were made with skill and attention to detail and served to us at the table. Both were sipped excitedly, while the conversation was less awe inspiring 😉 the background music and cute little dog next to us made it an even more enjoyable experience. We did have another couple of cocktails which I remember being equally delicious but by this point we were both suitably inebriated to render the details of these lost to the history of the Finnieston's traditional interior.

What an excellent place, great location for concerts at Ovo Hydro and SEC. Staff were amazingly helpful and attentive and the food was superb - fish and chips absolutely recommended. We will definitely be back!

Poor service and although the food was nice enough, the service let it down. Even though we paid a deposit of £10 per person, we weren't given the courtesy of selecting our table. Very poor as the table we wanted remained free for the whole time we were at the restaurant.

Gorgeous little bistro in the lovely Finnieston district. Pretty close to the OVO so ideal for pre-gig dining. Nice chilled atmosphere and great service. The Oysters and Lobster Thermidor were both amazing. Would definitely recommend and will return!

Certainly a vast improvement since the last time, but lordy me it’s an expensive place serving meagre portions. Don’t get me wrong, the food was good and Molly our server was very good and knew her stuff, food was delivered on time in full with no errors. Look at the attached image, I ordered the whole sea-bass, which was lovely albeit didn’t expect it to be served on the bone, no sides or nothing. My friend ordered the halibut served as what could be best described as a starter portion size, to charge what you charged was shocking, no more than what you would get in a readymade meal portion, yes I get it’s halibut but what you served up was meagre and gone in 3 mouthfuls. Maybe it’s just me, but an average bottle of wine - £39, there comes a point you question yourselves how can you get a table just like that on a Friday with spare covers, maybe look at your price point. It was good, but for what was dished up was it value for money, sorry it wasn’t.

Cosy interior, friendly and helpful staff. They organised to have the 2-person hot shellfish dish split in half for me. Very helpful in choosing drinks and food. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the food went cold a bit too fast. Mainly because of the type of plate it was served into. Maybe try some other options there. But great overall anyway.

Last minute walk in with friends . Just had a few drinks and some delicious chips. Service from host to waitress was tremendous. No faults and area outside with heaters was very pleasant. Food on the next table looked delicious so will be back to try a meal. Well done to the hard-working staff - not easy in hospitality at the moment 👍

Fabulous meal on Friday night before a show at The Hydro.. warm cosy restaurant with coal fire on which was very welcoming coming in from the cold .. food was outstanding beautiful fresh selection of seafood and service was spot on.. will return soon.

We've been to The Finnieston several times now as the food is very good, it's a lovely cosy atmosphere and the waiting staff are friendly. However, the one thing that leaves a sour taste is that we always have to remind them to take the deposit off the bill. Last weekend there was three of us having dinner and we had to ask the waitress to reprint the bill taking the £30 off. This seems to happen every time we come here so we always check the bill before paying.

The staff front of house and in the kitchen are exceptional and help to deliver a memorable culinary experience. One of the side dishes wasn’t to our liking. The kitchen noticed this had been returned at the end of our meal and asked for feedback in addition to removing it unconditionally from the bill. This was handled brilliantly by the team. Highly recommended for anyone seeking top-notch seafood in a welcoming atmosphere.

The service was excellent from start to finish. It always is. The food is always great too. Delicious langoustines and a very funkily presented desert were 2 of the highlights.

Been 3 times now, service was slow for drinks. The 2 bar staff were busy talking and on their phones and missed the order. The waiter couldn't understand our order for food, ready when ready to the table. Like a robot “starters and mains only “, we just wanted to share our meals on the table and had to ask for the rest of it at some stage, we only had oysters and pate and waited for the hot mussels and langos. We tried to get more drinks in but the waiter was running around to much, because the bell kept ringing, and the one server was running around trying her best when the 2 bars staff just stood there and didn't help. Mackerel pate was a wet grey puddle, the bread was from the fridge and stale, oyster full of shell, Langos we overcooked, mussels ok no spoon for the soup at the bottom, but all under-seasoned, we were going to order some more food but the waitress said it was already a lot of food. Really! So we decided to go somewhere else to finish our meal and drinks. The restaurant was cold inside as well. We sat by the kitchen area.

Everything about this restaurant was amazing. The cocktails were fantastic. The wine delicious, the service impeccable but the stand out was the food!! Incredible langoustines, just huge and delicious. Lobster was incredible as well. Halibut delicious. I can’t wait to go back!

Utterly fabulous service! Fell over themselves to help. ALL staff members never stopped. What a wonderful place to watch mixology at it best. Entertaining, informative and highly recommend. What a wonderful team.... Quirky gem of a bar, food looked lovely although we only had ice cream. Clean, modern , great atmosphere. Toilets could have done with a maintenance check. Can't wait to return!!!

Excellent meal. Wonderful seafood. Oysters and Langoustines to start. Whole season bream and lobster thermidor both with skinny fries as mains. All washed down with a delightful bottle of Albarino. Well worth a visit!

We had a great dinner at The Finnieston. For starters my mussels in white wine and cream were very tasty and plentiful! My wife was very happy with the scallops. My whole sea bream main course was outstanding. Service was very good. We last visited...
