The Fighting Cocks Pub and Riverside Restaurant in Sevenoaks

The conservatory was decorated beautifully for Valentine’s Day with the tables laid wonderfully. The food was delicious, with a menu of sharing dishes that was super. The sharing dessert platter was to die for with every part of it enjoyed. Everything was served with care. The only minor gripe was the coldness of the conservatory that was chilly but this did not distract from the delicious food.

Food is excellent - the choice is extensive and varied. Portions are big! I can recommend the pork belly starter (the kimchi/salad that accompanies has quite a kick!). The steak and kidney pudding was hearty, and the creamy mash is a great choice. The meaty pizza hadan array of toppings, and the fish pie included scallops for a touch of luxury. The dining room, which is bright and spacious was a little on the cold side for some. All in all a great meal

Our first visit to The Fighting Cock Restaurant at Horton Kirby which came highly recommended by a neighbour and it certainly did not disappoint. Food was excellent with a very good choice, meals included a selection of fresh vegetables . Staff were excellent too, very helpful. Highly recommended we shall certainly be returning.

We have dined at the Fighting Cocks on a number of occasions and it is always a pleasure experience. There is always a great choice of food on the menu.

Four of us had a wonderful and delicious meal at The Fighting Cocks pub in beautiful surroundings. Whereas everything was perfect, good food, good service all at reasonable prices from the seniors menu it was a bit cold in the conservatory resulting in two of our party keeping their coats on. Only to be expected I suppose in the middle of winter but a heater or two wouldn't have gone amiss. Will definitely go again in the summer.

At last under new management . All back to the standards that made us a customer for nearly 15 years . Stopped eating there for the last 9 months due to service and food being a very bad standard . After our return visit on 23/01/25 we were so pleased with the food and new team that we have booked again for 6/2/25 . We are very pleased that things have returned to normal Happy days P.Maddison

Lovely roast for Sunday lunch. We had two meats and the portions were huge. Well presented and very good quality. We really didn’t need to share a bread and olive starter! The staff were very attentive and friendly. Will certainly revisit.

Food was great (crème brûlée was particularly good!) and waitress was friendly but sadly for us there was only three other tables in use which made it a dull event for New Year’s Eve and no one in the bar. Obviously this is not any fault of the Fighting Cocks but it did bring the ambience down.

We had a very lovely Christmas eve meal at the fighting cocks. We had the set festive mene. The food was very good and great value for money, the staff were wonderful and made the evening really special. We'll be back!

Booked a table here for a pre-Christmas lunch and catch up with friends and I must say it turned out to be a very pleasant couple of hours. The service was friendly and efficient, the food was hot, tasty and plentiful and the atmosphere was very pleasant too. We all said that we would certainly visit again if we were in the area. Recommended!

Came here for a Sunday roast with my family! It was honestly the best roast I’ve had whilst dining out! Staff were super friendly and helpful, nothing was to much trouble and atmosphere was warm and cosy. I would really recommend!

Jack our waiter made us feel welcome and comfortable. The food was excellent and Jack's sense of fun added to our group's enjoyment.

I have eaten at the Fighting Cocks on several occasions with family & friends and have never been disappointed. The food is always outstanding and good value for money, the service always very friendly and attentive. On this occasion we were surprised to be the only guests celebrating our friendship at Christmas, despite this the staff went out of their way to make sure we had a lovely evening.

From arriving to coming home the service was lovely . Michelle our waitress was really nice. The food was excellent. Definitely recommend a visiting.

Well we had a great lunch as we always do. Seniors 3 course plus drinks etc for 6 of us. Meal was delicious and the staff very friendly and nice. The table we asked for was just right. Lovely surroundings. We’ll be back soon

We had lunch from the senior citizens menu. It was generous, skillfully prepared food served by friendly staff. Value was outstanding. If we lived nearby this would be our local butwe will return!

The Sunday roast is lovely at the fighting cocks, what lets it down is you book a table expecting to be in the restaurant/conservatory area, and they put you out the front in the bar on an awful table by the toilets. It really is not a nice place to sit and have your dinner, the bar should be for drinking and the restaurant for eating. This is the second time it’s happened and both times it’s disappointed me, when I book a table I expect to be in the conservatory and I wish when booking I was told where I would be as then I would have gone elsewhere. The table wasn’t set, we had to ask for menus, and we were sat on top of a radiator that was roasting hot. As I said the Sunday roast is really lovely so it’s a shame that this side of it let it down. I think you should rethink this seating area for food.

Last minute decision to revisit the Pub. Was not disappointed- great home cooked food. The quality of food & service has never dropped over the years. Today’s choices for me were Crispy pork belly - steak & kidney pudding - apple pie & cream ….. our waitress was Michele - she was knowledgeable/professional/friendly and helped with experience. Well worth a visit !!

Arrived for Sunday Lunch. Quite busy, but to be expected. Checked in and shown to our table without fuss and given menus to browse. Waiter returned soon after to take our drinks order and leave us to make our choices. Came back with oir drinks all correct. Ordered our food, which came in reasonable time. Food was delicious and hot and a decent helping too!. Service was very good and staff were polite and very helpful. I can whole heartily recomment this Pub and Restaurant for all round top quality service and food to match.

All four of us thought the food delicious and well worth waiting for. Jack does stirling work manning the bar and attending to customers. Our starters were two pate, one prawn cocktail, and one smoked salmon. Mains: one spanakopita, one haddock and two steak pies. Desserts: two panacotta, one raspberry cheescake, and one crumble and custard. We are senior citizens, and each had a superb three course meal for £20 apiece. We shall return.

Great family-friendly welcoming pub. Although they were busy, service was great with Michele taking good care of us throughout. The menu has a nice variety and the food was brilliant! We were a large group but all meals were tasty and cooked well. Can see why they've won Best Pub awards! We will be back.

Lovely food and great service. The restaurant was booked so we sat in the bar area which was still lovely (next time I'll reserve the restaurant). Had a play area for kids. Roast dinner was exceptional! Will definitely come back.

The prawn cocktail starter was tasteless but the Sunday roast made up for it. We'll definitely return for the roast, just skip the starter.

The prawn cocktail starter was tasteless, cheap frozen prawns and cheap marg on the bread however the Sunday roast more than made up for it. We'll definitely return for the roast.

We went in for lunch today in the restaurant, a lovely conservatory. The food was great, atmosphere very relaxed and the lady looking after us, Carlene, was absolutely excellent. Very warm and welcoming. We’ll be back again.

We booked today for 10 people at Short notice but they were happy to accommodate us , 6 adults and 4 children . Our first time at the fighting cock but not the last . The food was amazing but the service from Michelle was even better , nothing was too much trouble and she made us all feel at home . The garden was lovely and the children really enjoyed the play area and the chickens / Rooster. Well Done The Fighting Cocks !! Well Done Michelle , a huge asset to the business !!

Very disappointed, went for 18th dinner celebration, food mediocre, all had cold chips, service slow. Didn’t want to complain at the time because it was a special dinner but so disappointed.

Very disappointed with the food at The Fighting Cocks today, not up to its usual standard. Menu online different to restaurant, no plain fish meal. The batter on my haddock was very greasy. Its a lovely setting and the staff are great but we won't be back here for a while

Enjoyed an afternoon lunch here in the large rear conservatory overlooking the countryside, a nice spot. Friendly and helpful staff and a varied menu with something for everyone. Good range of drinks too. Plenty of parking outside / rear car park. (1 star off as tables sticky, needing a bit more than a quick wipe?)

Came here after recommending some family try to roast dinners here, and the staff throughly delivered. Staff were prompt with seating and serving drinks and nothing was too much trouble. The warm bread starters were beautifully presented and the olives were delicious. The roasts have always been good here but today’s roasts were exceptional. The roast potatoes were lovely and crispy and nicely seasoned. The gammon and beef were perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The carrot and swede purée is just delightful alongside the other veg. These roasts are great value for money with the portion sizes and the quality of cooking. From a roast connoisseur these roasts are really special and, in my opinion, the best in the Dartford-wide area. Will return again soon. 10/10

Had lunch here today , it was very underwhelming and quite expensive . In all fairness had a couple of issues which were resolved and the young lady that served us was brilliant. Having been to the King & Queen in East Malling which is owned by the the same people, I was disappointed it certainly isn’t the same standard as in food and customer experience. Perhaps I’ve been spoilt by the food and service at the King & Queen which is pretty amazing & I shouldn’t compare.

The conservatory was a lovely space to look out into the garden and then at the bottom the river, staff were really nice and attentive and the roasts are delicious, I thoroughly recommend the parsnips too - thank you for a great lunch !

We have always wanted to have family celebrations here. They didn't let us down this time. Lovely food, catering for various dietary requirements and friendly and efficient service. This was a 98th birthday celebration and they did us proud

Got a take away pie roast for two one lamb and one steak it was extremely nice never tried red cabbage till now was very delicious and flavorsome . Thought I died and gone to heaven can't wait for my next roast complements to the chefs.

The senior's lunch (food) is good value and we have been a few times this year. It can be noisy in the restaurant and last time there was no real ale or a wine list. Wine came out at £9 a glass which is not good value in my view. Will go there again but hope the drinks side is improved.

We came with friends for an afternoon bite to eat based on Google reviews and the nice photos. The location was lovely, and the outside space really large. It was dog and child friendly. One of us was gluten free, and there were hardly any food options for her and staff seemed unsure if dishes were GF or not. Drinks were served in tired and cracked plastic glasses. An hour to wait for uncomplicated garden menu food. The burgers & chips were very tasty and looked the part. The Caesar salad however, disappointing at £9 for the small pile of lettuce leaves and dressing, and another £4.50 for a piece of pale chicken breast on top. The atmosphere indoors was underwhelming. The toilets were pretty unpleasant. The experience overall wasn't terrible, and it was eaten in a nice outdoors setting. But can't help but feel that this pub has lost it's focus and needs some attention to detail to pull it all together for a great experience.

Visited for Sunday lunch in the garden , on Sunday1 oct . Was surprised how quiet the garden was . Bar service was extremely slow not sure why as not very busy . Ordered a Roast Turkey Dinner which was served promptly in the Garden . Dinner was served at best Luke warm portion was generous except for a tablespoon of gravy. Drink was served in a very sad plastic glass which should have been thrown out years ago .

Lovely drive in the hamlets of Kent in the Motorway triangle (M 2, 20,25). Being Monday it was quiet so nice table in the Conservatory. Drinks in the huge beer garden before so we could catch up, not seen each other a couple of years. Mixed dishes due to warm day but all devoured as it was all so good. Great service and patience shown by staff. Definitely coming back

Wanted to leave a review after our positive experience today at The Fighting Cocks. Staff were really attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. Sunday roast was really good too. After reading some reviews we were a little worried, but we had a great meal and experience. I would definitely come back and recommend this establishment. Great garden for kids too.

I booked on the phone for my birthday and specifically asked to be seated in the conservatory which I reiterated at the end of my booking. We arrived and were greeted (not really) by the person behind the bar who seemed to have no idea she worked in hospitality and was told you’ve booked the bar. Eventually a competent human arrived and showed us to a table in the almost empty conservatory, he was pleasant and helpful but seemed to be the only person doing anything. The food was tasty and we didn’t wait too long between courses, we ordered more drinks that were plonked on the table by our initial “Greeter” We were eventually sat in the empty conservatory when we asked for the bill, £10 for a warm glass of mediocre Pinot Grigio blush seemed I must say a trifle excessive. I fear that this establishment has lost its way completely and unless they find more than one properly trained member of staff it is doomed to failure. As a local I find this more than a little sad.

We were out with 3 dogs and our 3yr old grandson. After a lovely walk and paddle in the river we thought we’d have lunch in the garden of the Fighting Cocks nearby. My husband was refused being served because he was wearing a sleeveless T-shirt. NOT A VEST! He asked if I could therefore be served. No! YOURE NOT ALLOWED IN THE GARDEN EITHER!!! I do appreciate there are rules and vests are not always welcome. BUT ON A SUNNY DAY IN THE HUGE GARDEN?? AND it was a sleeveless T-shirt! I was actually wearing a thin strapped vest!!! And that was fine! Over priced, (previously a large wine and pint of lager around £16) UNwelcoming.. and NOT customer friendly unless perhaps in designer clothes with a fat wallet!!!

The service was slow and staff were unfriendly. The Pepsi tasted weird but they did remove this from the bill when asked to. The fish was over- cooked and dry. We were a party of five and all agreed that we would not return. Disappointing.

Very disappointed. Have been here many times and have always enjoyed it. The menu has changed and unfortunately not for the better. The lovely menu has gone along with the specials board. Menu used to include dishes such as sea bass and salmon along with classical dishes such as sausages and mash and liver and bacon. It has now been replaced with scampi and chips,pizzas and burgers. Not the lovely traditional pub that it once was. Unfortunately no longer for us.

Exceptional venue, great service and the Sunday roast royal feast is exactly that. Amazing portions and more than enough quality food. Really enjoyed our visit and will be returning again. Lovely sized garden and a great play area for children too.

My friend and I enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast lunch here which is excellent value but huge! This would suit most people with a very healthy appetite but it was a shame that my elderly friend could not do it justice - although she gave it a good go! I would suggest offering a slightly smaller size of roast dinner (price adjusted accordingly) for those with smaller appetites. This isn't a complaint, just a suggestion. The staff were excellent, friendly and attentive. I have only marked down the score I've given for ambience because, on a warm sunny day, it does get uncomfortably hot in the conservatory and there are no blinds.

This is a great all rounder restaurant for families and dinner wt friends. The food is excellent and is freshly prepared with smaller portions for OAPs at a very reasonable price. Lovely garden very child friendly with offers for garden food. Friendly staff are very attentive, great service.

Booked through Open Table for three of us to go for dinner. Paid a £5 deposit per person which it stated would be used against the final bill. Unfortunately, we needed to cancel the booking, within 24 hrs of making it, and within 72 hrs...

We had a lovely meal, the waitress was very attentive (I can’t remember her name) our only gripe would be that 3 of us finished our starters before the fourth one came out and also the tables seemed very sticky but we weren’t sure whether this was because of a certain varnish or just not cleaned enough, but overall we had a fab meal and would definitely go back
