We went to visit Rye a such lovely town with nice shops, cafés and restaurants. We went to Fig for lunch we loved it! Delicious healthy food everything we could was fresh. The Staff was kind and helpful I definitely highly recommend this place. 🙂

Came to The Fig just for lunch. The ambience was warm and cozy. The staff were friendly. I had the dahl, my partner had the prawn tacos. Food was exceptional, cooked there in front of you by chefs who care and were clearly specialised in their craft. Very pleasant experience. I highly recommend

We had a fabulous meal, hosted by the charming Welat. We had five delicious potions; Harissa aubergines being the favourite, although I think the Gnocchi is the best I have had. Omar delighted us with the cocktails.

Divine food and the chef made a special one off salad for my guest which was delicious. Try the prawn tacos!

I regularly take visitors to this excellent restaurant and it never disappoints. Beautiful fresh seasonal food with a menu that is very unusual but really tasty.

We had a wonderful lunch at The Fig - the harissa aubergine is one of the best aubergine dishes I've ever had and I am doing my best to recreate it for the family tonight. We only had to wait a short while for a table, the service was excellent and all three of us dining loved our food. I cannot recommend highly enough - absolutely superb.

I hardly ever write reviews but had to pen a quick message to say what a delicious lunch my wife and I had yesterday at The Fig. Despite the restaurant being very busy we managed to get a table straightaway and, looking at the fairly short menu, we both said we'd be very happy to have all the dishes listed. I opted for the bean taco - deliciously tomatoey and just the right level of spice. Impossible though to eat by hand! My wife had the gnocchi salad with an array of roasted butternut squash, kale, rosemary butter, whipped goats' cheese, red onions, chutney, toasted nuts.. Suffice to say, the verdict given to the waiter, "That was one of the nicest things I've eaten in ages". I had a cracking virgin Mary to go with it. £44 incl service, in and out in an hour. Just brilliant. See you again soon!

Had the most incredible food today on our first visit to The Fig. 3 out of 4 of us have food intolerances (gluten and dairy) and they couldn’t have been more helpful and informative. The food was amazing, bursting with flavour, healthy and delicious. I actually don’t want to tell you all this because it’s busy as it is and I want to get a table the next time we go but great food and service deserves the custom. And there will be a next time 100%.

One of the beets brunch’s we have ever had. Halloumi eggs and banana waffles between two of us. Such incredible food

We visited with two diners gluten intolerant. The restaurant catered and adapted the food to ensure we all had an enjoyable brunch. The food is locally sourced and of a really good quality, you pay more for the food but you get an amazing standard of tasty food so well worth it. The staff are all helpful, definitely worth a visit if you can get in as it is very busy

Initially I wasn’t expecting much from the menu. Nothing grabbed me particularly and I ended up picking the pork tacos. I also ordered an old fashioned to accompany it. The tacos were delicious…the pulled pork was so juicy and tender and the drink was perfectly made. My wife had the goats cheese salad and I finished that off for her and was also extremely impressed with that. To top it off, service was attentive and friendly. It was overall a great experience and we would thoroughly recommend. Only minor thing I’d say is that I wolfed down the tacos rather quickly…so perhaps there could be an option for a larger serving.

Really delicious food!! Menu was really interesting and served in Tapas portions. We had a selection of 6 (recommended), but 5 would have been enough. Good drinks menu. Service excellent and very friendly.

We called in The Fig for some lunch, it’s a nice place to chill for an hour and enjoy some excellent a lite bite. The food is healthy and well presented and they are good for vegetarian food and seem to take environmental issues seriously. Everything we ordered was tasty & well presented, nice ginger beer too!

If we could give more stars, we would!! The food was amazing and very vegetarian friendly. The food was packed with flavours and generous in size. Order a little less than you think and add on if needed. The service was friendly, helpful and quick. We did not have a long wait and the restaurant was full. We will be back. Great restaurant! Particularly the summer greens, roast potatoes and hispi cabbage!! Could probably have done with just 4/5 dishes between 2.

Chef pays all due respect to fresh ingredients with astounding results.

We ate here twice in a row because it was so good. We came with our three kids who loved the pulled pork tacos. All dishes were absolutely delicious. Delicious food and super friendly service.

Best vegetarian meal I've had in months. Visited a couple of weeks ago, the food was delicious and interesting (no risotto in sight) and the waitress was so friendly. I added a note on the reservation to have a corner table - I'm autistic and cope better slightly out the way. Unlike most places which don't read notes, this was accommodated - thank you, it really makes a difference and I'll definitely be back :)

Had a fantastic meal here this evening. Service was spot on, food was incredible and the drinks hit the spot. If you're a fan of tacos, the pork tacos are up there with the best I've ever had (a lot...) Thanks all!

With a heavy heart, I cannot give it a 5. The food was delicious, really worth visiting the restaurant, but the service was a disaster. Even though there are free tables, you cannot enter without a reservation. Reservations cannot be made on-site, only via the website, and you must pay a deposit of £10 per person, which is then deducted from your bill. I was also disgusted by the mandatory 12.5% ​​tip. I don't like it when someone tells me how much I should tip, I think the restaurant owner should take care of the waitresses' good wages, not me.

Amazing... we were blown away by the room. (We didnt have a shower on our room, only a bath, but who cares, it was a very nice bath) The location is perfect. Breakfast the next morning was the best I've had in the UK. Absolutely delicous. I had the benedict, my wife also really enjoyed her shakshuka. Great service from the staff. Would hightly recommend 👌

The Fig is perhaps the nicest choice for Rye: located in the middle of town, lovingly decorated by someone with taste, plus a comfortable bed and strong water pressure. In short: everything I want from a good hotel.

Service very slow and unfortunately the smell of sewage through the open window was very unpleasant.Our 8 year old grandaughter wanted to leave because of the smell. The toilet seat was loose..a health and safety risk.. We did make a comment about the smell as we left, but it was not met with any real acknowledgement.I am dairy free and a coeliac. No soya milk or almond was available only oat milk which I cannot have. Staff were not particularly friendly. a very disappointing experience.

Had the best coffee here. Truly the best. I had a wonderful breakfast and a very friendly host. I came alone and she agreed to let me sit by the window as I asked . Even though it was a table for 3. Wonderful service and I enjoyed my time there really. You have to go:)

Small plate tapas restaurant, with changing seasonal menu in a relaxed, comfortable space. The menu is delicious. The cabbage, crispy and spicy, with a smear of harissa is amazing, the syrupy aubergine shawarma, the figs and prosciutto, and all of the fresh, locally-sourced salads are delicious. Terrific staff, great wines and coffees. Oh, and best deserts ever!

I came here for breakfast and got the tacos from the brunch menu and a flat white. Very tasty food and a good coffee. Really busy and a queue outside when I left, so must be very popular. Servers were very friendly.

We, as a group of friends, drove from Hastings to The Fig in Rye, drawn by their attracting Mediterranean healthy breakfast, and it was definitely worth to the trip. The portions were generous, and we loved the delicate flavors, especially the variety of greens complementing the avocado toast with poached egg. The staff was friendly, service was quick and the location was amazing. A delightful breakfast experience-highly recommended!

Been there for a breakfast. A little bit expensive, but all food was made with quality.

Food tastes great but the portion size can be bigger in that pasta dish to fit the price we paid. Good services.

If you like chickpeas and lentils then this is the place for you. The food was beautifully presented and was tasty but for me was one pulse too many. You can, of course, choose different dishes but most of them contained chickpeas/ lentils. Make sure your gut can take the onslaught! The portions were smallish ( meant for sharing) and very expensive. The mark up must be huge. We found the staff delightful and anxious to know which dishes were our favourites. All in all, an experience but not for us.

Coffee and food great - staff need to work on their customer service - no need to tell dog owners what they need to do and I was challenged when bringing water from outside for my dog.

Wow, it’s very rare to find a restaurant that surprises me with such a punch!!! This fantastic little place serves the most amazing food that is so fresh you feel you are eating produce freshly picked from the garden 5 minutes before it reaches your table! The combinations of unusually paired ingredients make for a new and exciting explosion on your taste buds! Highly recommend this wonderfully delightful restaurant, a must for anyone wanting to try something different from the norm!

Had brunch with friends on a beautiful sunny Saturday. Had to wait for a table but it was well worth the wait. Food and coffee was 5 stars. Highly recommend.

The menu looked great - I could have chosen anything with pleasure. I then experienced delicious flavours and my wife loved her meal too. A really exceptional lunch.

The restaurant we planned to go to turned out to be closed. That was our gain. A limited menu but we both found something we liked. I had Aubergine Shawarma for the first time and it was excellent. My wife's salmon was equally good. She loved her pavlova and my affogato was fine, with a tot of Frangelico adding a new twist for me. Overall, a very pleasant meal with friendly staff at a reasonable price.

Actually we had brunch on several days and enjoyed an evening meal too. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Walat!

The food here is next level, pricey but worth it once off. If this kind of food was what we all ate all the time the NHS wouldn’t be in the state it is.

Had a lovely lunch here with a friend after other friend's recommended it. It's a small menu as it is all freshly cooked but all was tempting. My friend had goats cheese salad which she really enjoyed. I chose the cauliflower steak with lots of accompaniments, it was beautifully presented and it was delicious. The service was excellent and our waitress was so friendly. The gentlemen next to us said he came regularly and was his favourite place to eat in Rye. Would definitely return.

We were really looking forward to our stay. It was a rare night away and I had carefully chosen which hotel to stay in. The room was really nicely decorated and clean. There were also thoughtful touches like chocolates next to the coffee machine and a glass bottle of water on each night stand. Lovely soap, shampoo and conditioner in a very nice shower. My only gripe, but it’s an important one, is when we went down to dinner, they wouldn’t serve us. The reason: they only have a license until 10pm. It was only 8:36! I decided to insist, partly because I was so surprised they would turn us away nearly an hour and a half(!!) before closing time, and partly because they had some nice options on the menu for my partner who eats a plant based diet. Also, having worked in the restaurant business for a good portion of my adult life, I remember what it was like when people came in just before closing. It was painful. But it was not just before closing. I even asked-what if we order straight away, and are sure to be long gone by 10? And they still said no. So we ended up eating a few doors down. When we came back from dinner just before 10, the entire place was already empty, dark and locked up. The worst part was that breakfast the next morning was fantastic. So I was doubly disappointed we hadn’t had the opportunity to have dinner there. Would I go again? I’m not sure. Probably I would for the breakfast alone. But being turned down for dinner an hour and a half before closing time, while being guests in the hotel, left me disappointed with the experience on the whole.

The food is just awesome, couldn't express enough how delighted we were to try their dishes and mocktails. I'm very pleased that for the same amount of money per dish you get such a tasty food like is too rare in UK - sorry, don't mean to offend anyone, but that's just simple truth. The atmosphere is cosy and we've enjoyed visiting. Huge thanks!

Fantastic breakfast! I had the halloumi eggs and I can honestly say it was one of the best breakfast I have ever had. The rest of the party had waffles which were also incredibly tasty. Highly recommend.

We went to the Fig for lunch one Sunday whilst in the area (it’s been on our list of places to eat) wonderful fresh food. Myself and my wife are both vegan and the tacos and cauliflower were amazing! Brilliant choices and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The berry detox was a treat!

Overall, this is a great "quirky" B&B / hotel. The food is really good - we had dinner and breakfasts - and the service is friendly and professional. We were in the charming "Retro Room" with 70's furniture. Location is fabulous. However, beware of the coffee machine! Because the machine vibrates *and* the supplied cups are too big *and* the surface isn't quite level, my half full coffee cup vibrated off the machine and spilt hot coffee over my leg and my new white trainers. This is really awful design and, according to the cleaner, has happened before. I did text the contacts on the Fig info sheet, but received no reply or acknowledgement. Having to trash my box fresh Converse sadly spoilt an otherwise lovely weekend.

My wife & I came here for a rare meal without our children, & it didn’t disappoint – we both thought the food was easily in the top five meals either of us have ever had!

Went here for lunch with a close friend. Easily got a table from a lovely member of staff. I had apple juice, the bean tacos and ginger and rhubarb pavlova, followed by coffee. The food was absolutely incredible, service fabulous and the staff are very friendly. The pavlova was the showstopper - I love a decent pudding and this really was to die for! Kudos to the chef and the service staff. I'll definitely be back for more. Thank you 😊

Another top foodie place in Rye really tasty

I choose this hotel based on ratings but unfortunately disappointed me. - very noisy as the employees in the restaurant below doesn’t care when they throw away all glass bottles during the night - furniture in the room is vintage but in a bad shape - even worse … after checkout at “”10:00”” you just CAN’T stay there and the lady asked me to go somewhere else!

We had lunch here with our little boy. Our experience was just ok. Service was really good. Inside feels cramped and claustrophobic - not pleasant at all. Food was on the pricier side which is fine if the food is really good, but the pork bowl was a bit bland. Tacos looked and tasted better but missing a decent garnish.

Have eaten here before and it was fantastic. Had a coffee here and it was toooo milky....a flat white should be a little shorter and stronger.....otherwise it is a latte, or a cappuccino without foam. Right???

Found this Boutique hotel by chance and I am so glad that we did. Booked a room for an overnight, midweek stay. Room 2 overlooked the high street and was a great size with a really comfortable bed. Great shower and and big bathroom. Decided to take an evening meal in the cafe downstairs and WOW. The food was amazing. Tapas style, we chose six plates which come as they were cooked and so not all at once. Every dish that we tried was a taste explosion and not one dish let us down. Service was brilliant, didnt get the mans name that seem to be running the place but he was superb, great service. Took breakfast next morning and that was also stunning. If you visit Rye for any reason you must try the food here.

We spent Easter in Rye and had dinner (5 courses to share between 2 people) in this charming restaurant. On their website you pay £10 per person upfront to secure the dinner booking, this will be deducted from the final bill. Sadly all courses arrived luke warm. The food is good but the portions are small especially the aubergine. It was one small slice of aubergine for the 2 of us. So one mouthful each. This dish is well overpriced. The tapas are tiny, but you can expect 1 small tapas each. It was an experience but I feel it is quite expensive for what it actually is.

My partner and I stayed here on Bank Holiday Monday. The service we received was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was tastefully decorated with a bath. The ambiance was that of calm and peaceful oasis. Good use of plants to create a sense of wellbeing. Breakfast was excellent and exceptional quality. Wonderful smoothie and delicious poached eggs. Finished off with their own unique cappuccino.

Some really tasty, interesting dishes with a good selection of vegetarian/vegan dishes as well as meat and fish. Small plates concept that works well. Lovely independent restaurant.
